Coming to the camera department, the Lenovo Tab P12 features an 8MP rear camera with LED flash. On the front, the tablet features a 13MP camera for selfies and video calling. Lenovo Tab P12 with JBL speakers, 3K display launched in India at ₹34,999

<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Lenovo-replaces-head-of-smartphone-division-as-sales-slump-in-China/articleshow/47514050.cms">Lenovo</a>, the Chinese multinational computer technology company announced at a city event on Tuesday that it has started local manufacturing of <keyword id="6354775" type="TECHNOLOGY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Smartphones">smartphones</keyword> in Chennai, in keeping with the government’s ‘<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Modi-to-call-on-Samsung-LG-to-Make-in-India/articleshow/47262269.cms">Make in India’</a> campaign. 
 Titled ‘Make more in India,’ <keyword id="13722" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Lenovo">Lenovo</keyword> which had acquired <keyword id="11148" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Motorola">Motorola</keyword> Mobility last year, launched the 40,000 sq. feet manufacturing facility located in Sriperambudur, Chennai. This plant is set to roll out two successful models of 4G smartphones- The Moto E and the Lenovo K3 Note. 
 
Talking about what triggered the idea of local manufacturing of smartphones, Chen Xudong, President MBG group, Lenovo and Chairman, Motorola Mobility Operating Board, said, “According to IDC, India is the third largest smartphone market in the world, and we are excited to expand our presence in the country at a time like this. Lenovo’s investment in the new manufacturing plant represents the potential we see in the Indian market and we hope to tap into the country’s competent talent pool to develop cutting-edge products for our customers.” 
 
 
 The <keyword id="134346" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Chennai-plant">Chennai plant</keyword> has already started rolling out <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/The-Cheapest-MOTO-E-Is-Not-Bad-At-All-Review/articleshow/36288300.cms">Moto E</a> phones, while the K3 note is set to follow soon. Amar Babu, COO Lenovo, Asia Pacific and Chairman, Lenovo India claimed that the first batch of shipment has infact reached their sales partners. 
 
The plant, for which Lenovo has entered into a contract agreement with one of its global partner, Flextronics, will employ 1500 employees’ for manufacturing lines, quality assurance, product testing etc. These employees also have the task of helping the company generate 6 million units for the Indian market in this financial year. 
 
The Chennai plant also holds the distinction of being the only plant outside India to manufacture products of both brands. 
 
Sudhin Mathur, Director of Smart Phone Business mentioned that their Chennai plant could not be termed as just an assembly unit as it was 'somewhere in the middle'. 
 
Additionally, the company also has plans to locally source 30% of the components required in the manufacturing process and are optimistic that it will be ‘a matter of months’ before they achieve that target with the support of its partner. “We are also in talks with the government to improve availability of components locally to heighten the total value of devices.” 
 
Elaborating on the company’s future plans, Amar Babu said that the company looks forward to generating 12-14 million units from the Chennai plant, next year and the focus at the moment is on stabilizing the process of ramping up. “We haven’t launched SmartTV in India, but launching the smartwatch is a possibility in the near future,” he added. 
 
Incidentally, this is not Lenovo’s first foray into manufacturing in India. The company boasts of a PC- manufacturing plant in Pondichery since 2005 and is looking to set in stone their integration with Motorola through this plant. 
 
“Lenovo and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Motorolas-Second-Innings-In-India-Will-It-Work/articleshow/28338123.cms">Motorola</a> will have separate manufacturing lines at the facility but it should not be forgotten that they both belong to one company.” Amar Babu explicitly stated. 
 
Lenovo also said that they have grown 330 percent in India from last year, according to IDC estimates and stated that they plan to make future investments in the country. 
 
The event was also attended by Ajay Kumar, Additional Secretary, Department of IT and Electronics and Debjani Ghosh, President of Manufactures Association for Information Technology (MAIT).

Make more in India: Lenovo-Motorola start manufacturing smartphones in Chennai

<keyword id="13722" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Lenovo">Lenovo</keyword> Group Ltd, based in Beijing, China, has sank into what is the biggest-ever loss suffered in a quarter. The July-September period saw the company facing reversing into this loss, forcing it to soak up acquisition and restructure costs to cope with the unenthusiastic demand in the global demand for personal computers and smartphones. 
 
Lenovo, which is world's biggest maker of personal computers, reported about booking a net loss of $714 million for its fiscal second quarter, which must have come as a shock when compared with a net profit of $262 million last year. However, even this immense loss is narrower than the $787.8 million, the figure that analysts had expected, according to Thomson Reuters SmartEstimates. 
 
Last year, the company had made two acquisitions, the figures of which went up in billions of dollars. The acquisitions were made for Google Inc's Motorola handset unit and IBM's low-end server business. This step was taken keeping in mind the response to the dwindling global market for personal computers. 
 
Earlier this year, Lenovo had said that it would book a one-off charge, a massive $900 million, in smartphone inventory clearing and restructuring costs in the second quarter. 
 
In a filing to the Hong Kong stock exchange, the company is reported to expect the realignment moves to generate cost saving of $1.35 billion annually.

This has indeed been a great driver to accelerate technology adoption during the pandemic. Lenovo’s collaboration with grassroot organisations like <keyword id="10514158" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="meghshala-trust" source="Orion">Meghshala Trust</keyword> and Agastya International Foundation focuses on promoting e-learning and mobile education for a large number of students. These partnerships engage Lenovo’s technology expertise in supporting quality education for students, capacity building and training of teachers. Another example is our partnership with Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology, to provide a tailored solution that constitutes ready-to-use devices, convertible notebooks, and periodic health checks for devices. What are the opportunities that Lenovo sees in the whole ‘edge’ devices revolution? There are front-end edge devices that collect the data–it could be a phone, a PC or an edge. Data from these edge devices are collected, brought to the cloud and analysed further by running machine learning models that translate that data into information that is then used to drive the transformation. At Lenovo, our endeavour is to provide the services and solutions that make this ‘pocket-to-cloud architecture’ possible. We realise that modern times are not restricted to gadgets, but it depends on how companies are tying together the entire range of services and solutions with these devices. Our goal is to offer ‘everything-as-a-service’– from devices in your pocket to the cloud, via one contract. The ‘pocket-to-cloud architecture’ implies that Lenovo is not just a hardware vendor of smartphones, computers, workstations, servers or storage, but has also expanded to provide end-to-end solutions and services which fulfil the IT transformational needs of customers–starting from asset management, planning and deployment to managing the customers’ IT infrastructure migration to hybrid cloud, enterprise security management and managed services. The role of the IT provider will continue to transform as we build in services and solutions that help customers offset the environmental impact of their technology and support them in reaching their own sustainability goals. Companies are now moving closer to close the loop on product lifecycle, by using more sustainable materials. The rise in sustainable materials is also minimising the need for chemicals in the manufacturing process and helping bring manufacturers closer to carbon neutral. Lenovo, for example, has set a series of ambitious sustainability targets and outlined its vision to become net-zero by 2050. Since 2005, Lenovo’s R&amp;D (research and development) teams have been working with suppliers to include post-consumer content (<keyword id="70242" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="pcc" source="Orion">PCC</keyword>) in the manufacturing of new Lenovo products. Today, Lenovo uses closed-loop post-consumer recycled content in 200+ products. Talk to us about the challenges that the technology community must address to digitally transform India in its true sense. In our country, one of the biggest challenges is the diversity in our population and the ability to reach remote locations. We believe that technology plays an important role in its ability to deliver benefits to this diverse population. Technology solutions such as speech to text and auto-captioning can actually help overcome some of the challenges related to diverse languages and dialects in the country. This can create new opportunities for employment for this workforce. While a lot of premium gaming laptops these days are trying to blend in with minimalistic designs, the Legion 9i isn’t imitating this trend. I tested the laptop with several games, including games such as Red Dead Redemption 2 and Starfield. Both the games performed well and the laptop was able to handle them without any issues. The laptop was able to handle these games without any issues while playing at maximum settings. Considering the hardware, you will be able to handle everything that you throw at it. The laptop’s cooling technology can keep the device cool during extended gaming sessions so you don’t have to worry about performance throttling. The laptop is equipped with a 99.9 Wh battery and offers a decent battery life. It offers around five hours of battery life but this will significantly come down if you game on it. The laptop offers stereo speakers with audio optimized by HARMAN. Lenovo launches new lineup of gaming laptops with AI features in India

<keyword id="13722" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Lenovo">Lenovo</keyword> on Tuesday launched three new premium gaming laptops in India that promise superior performance, better keyboard technology, advanced thermal efficiency and visual experience. Legion 7i starts at Rs 1,99,990, Legion 5Pi begins from Rs 1,34,990 and Legion 5i starts at Rs 79,990. Legion 7i and Legion 5i are available on Lenovo.com and will reach other online and offline retail channels this week, the company said, adding that Legion 5Pi will go on sale across all platforms later in the month. While the laptops target avid gamers who prioritise competitive e-sports gaming, content creators and professional artists, one can also use the options to switch to different modes for less heavy-duty tasks, thereby helping them to get better battery life. "We have a software called Lenovo Vantage. For people who are not into gaming and do not need all the performance of the CPU and GPU together, they can switch to a quiet mode simply by pressing a couple of buttons. This reduces the fan speed and also gives you a better battery life," Shailendra Katyal, Executive Director and Head of Consumer PCs and smart devices (PCSD), Lenovo, told IANS. Weighing just 2.2kgs, the Legion 7i is built for consumers appreciating high performance and premium style in gaming laptops. The flagship device comes with colour-accurate IPS display and full-HD resolution that supports high dynamic range. Legion 7i ensures high visual accuracy with the Adobe sRGB colour gamut and Dolby Vision with 500 nits of panel brightness. It also has four-sided narrow bezels with 85.6 per cent screen-to-body ratio. The device provides the latest NVIDIA G-Sync technology with 144Hz refresh rates. Lenovo said the Legion 7i TrueStrike keyboard is built to withstand heavy long-term use. The laptop houses an "intelligent" cooling system called the ColdFront 2.0. Lenovo said the Legion 7i offers up to eight hours of battery life. The laptop promises excellent speed with up to 10th Gen Intel Core i9 H-Series mobile processor, and up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER GPU with Max Q graphics. The GPU is powered by the NVIDIA Turing architecture. "Since its launch, Legion has been successful in addressing the large dual-use consumer segment that uses these PCs for serious gaming, as well as several heavy-duty tasks," said Rahul Agarwal, CEO and Managing Director, Lenovo India. "In a short span of two years, Legion is already the number two gaming PC brand in India with 23.5 per cent market share in Q1 FY2021." Both Legion 5Pi and 5i retain most of the features and smart attributes of the flagship Legion 7i. Both the devices are powered by the latest 10th Gen Intel Core i7-10750H processor.
