<ul class="summary-list"><li>Australian senator Jacqui Lambie's speech has become the inspiration for a new <keyword id="11894125" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="tiktok" source="Orion">TikTok</keyword> dance song.</li><li>She said people who don't get vaccinated need to be held accountable like "a goddamn bloody adult."</li></ul><p>Australian senator Jacqui Lambie has inspired a new dance song on TikTok after audio of her confrontation with a senator from a different party was remixed by a creator who turned it into a dance song.</p><p><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSldjsHs1WY">In the senate on Monday November 22</a>, One Nations senator Pauline Hanson introduced a vaccine discrimination bill, which proposed banning restrictions on people who aren't vaccinated in areas related to education, accommodation, employment, goods, services, facilities, and sports.</p><p>In response to the proposed bill, Lambie shouted across the senate chamber, "Being held accountable for your own actions isn't called discrimination, it's called being – you wouldn't believe it – a goddamn bloody adult."</p><p>She continued, "That's right, it's being an adult. It's putting others before yourself. That's what this country is supposed to be about. We don't have lockdowns and border restrictions because state premiers love discrimination. That's rubbish."</p><p>Footage of Lambie's response was <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@candymoore.mp3/video/7033634928592047362?is_copy_url=0&amp;is_from_webapp=v1&amp;sender_device=pc&amp;sender_web_id=7031340126844356101">remixed</a> by TikToker Candy Moore into a song the next day in a video which has received over 500,000 views. The audio has since been used in various other TikTok videos.</p> <p>Multiple clips using this sound include people <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@jzandt/video/7033707639041215746?lang=en&amp;is_copy_url=0&amp;is_from_webapp=v1&amp;sender_device=pc&amp;sender_web_id=7031340126844356101">dancing</a> along to the remix, while other users are making edits to parody the remix. One TikTok <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@clintomjames/video/7033687634366958850?lang=en&amp;is_copy_url=0&amp;is_from_webapp=v1&amp;sender_device=pc&amp;sender_web_id=7031340126844356101">features</a> Lambie's face edited onto footage of Victoria's Secret models walking the runway, with the remixed speech playing in the background.</p>  <p>Audio of Lambie's speech has been heavily circulated on TikTok, with the tag #jacquilambie, which is populated with a number of videos using the sound, amassing nearly 2 million views.</p><p>On Thursday, a TikTok account named @lambienetwork after Lambie's party posted <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@lambienetwork/video/7034362962286497025?is_copy_url=0&amp;is_from_webapp=v1&amp;sender_device=pc&amp;sender_web_id=7031340126844356101">a video</a> which appears to show Lambie herself lip-syncing and dancing to the remix.</p><p>The video is one of six in total on the account, which has 8,418 followers. While other videos on the account average approximately 14,000 views, this latest clip has racked up over 300,000. </p> <p>Lambie was <a href="http://results.aec.gov.au/17496/Website/SenateStateFirstPrefs-17496-TAS.htm">first elected</a> senator for Tasmania as a member of the nationalist United <keyword id="11897977" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="australia" source="Orion">Australia</keyword> Party in the 2013 Australian federal election. She <a href="https://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-11-24/tasmanian-senator-jacqui-lambie-quits-pup/5913136?nw=0&amp;r=HtmlFragment">resigned</a> from the party the following year and was <a href="https://parlinfo.aph.gov.au/parlInfo/search/display/display.w3p;query=Id:%22handbook/allmps/250026%22">re-elected in 2016</a> under her own party — the populist Jacqui Lambie Network. <ul class="summary-list"><li>Germany's foreign minister Baerbock said sanctions against Russia are not having an "economic impact," per AFP.</li><li>The EU launched 11 rounds of sanctions against Russia to force Moscow to end the war in Ukraine.</li></ul><p>Annalena Baerbock, the German foreign minister, is disappointed by the ineffectiveness of sanctions against Russia over its invasion of Ukraine.</p><p>She recently acknowledged that sanctions against Russia haven't achieved their desired impact.</p><p>"Economic sanctions should have an economic impact. People are outraged that Lena Dunham wrote a New Yorker quiz comparing her dog to her Jewish boyfriend

All the Badals, led by five-time Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, the eldest candidate at 94 in fray for the 117-member Punjab Assembly, as well as their kin, on Thursday lost to AAP's greenhorns.<br /><br />The eldest Badal, who won the seat five times in a row since 1997, lost to Gurmeet Khuddian from Lambi by 11,357 votes, while his son and Shiromani <keyword id="42824" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="akali-dal" source="Orion">Akali Dal</keyword> (SAD) chief and Member of Parliament Sukhbir Badal faced humiliating defeat from Jalalabad, and his son-in-law Adesh Partap Singh Kairon faced defeat from Patti in Tarn Taran district from AAP's Laljit Singh Bhullar.<br /><br />Sukhbir Badals's brother-in-law Bikram Majithia and his estranged cousin Manpreet Badal, who was in the fray on a Congress ticket, also lost the poll from their respective seats.<br /><br />As per the Election Commission, AAP's Khuddian, a Congress rebel, was polled 65,717 votes and the elderly Badal got 54,360.<br /><br />The junior Badal has lost the elections by a margin of 23,310 votes from Jalalabad to AAP's Jagdeep Kamboj.<br /><br />Majithia, who was in the fray from Amritsar (East) seat, took the third spot, with 25,112 votes. His archrival and state Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu also suffered a loss in his seat, garnering only 32,807 votes.<br /><br />Both senior leaders were defeated by AAP's novice Jeevan Jyot Kaur, who received 39,520 votes.<br /><br />A five-time MLA and two-time Finance Minister, Manpreet Badal, who is the son of Gurdas Badal, the younger brother of Parkash Badal, lost the elections from Bathinda Urban.<br /><br />He first won in 1995 on a SAD ticket from Gidderbaha and retained the seat in 1997, 2002, and 2007. He quit the party in 2010 and floated his own political outfit, People's Party of Punjab.<br /><br />In 2016, Manpreet Badal merged his outfit with the Congress, after having lost from both Gidderbha and Maur seats. He then won the 2017 elections as a Congress candidate from Bathinda.<br /><br />"We whole-heartedly and with total humility accept the mandate given by Punjabis. I am grateful to lakhs of Punjabis who placed their trust in us and to SAD-BSP workers for their selfless toil. We will continue to serve them with humility in the role they have assigned to us," Sukhbir Badal tweeted.<br /><br />AAP's chief ministerial candidate Bhagwant Mann in his first public address after his victory said: "Bade (elderly) Badal Sahib has lost, Sukhbir (Badal) has lost from Jalalabad, Capt (Amarinder Singh) has lost from Patiala, Sidhu and Majithia are also losing, Channi has lost on both the seats."<br /><br />Congress firebrand legislator Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, who retained his Gidderbaha constituency in Muktsar district, said he has been saying that all Badals, including Congress's Manpreet Singh Badal, were playing a fixed match.<br /><br />He said he had even asked the electorates to defeat all Badals, including his colleague, from wherever they are contesting.<br /><br />"This is a message for the Badals, all the Badals, a message for Bathinda wala Badal (Manpreet Badal) and Lambi wala Badal (Parkash Singh Badal), they are playing a fixed match. In Bathinda, they are with the Congress and here they are Akalis. Such traitors should be exposed," he had said during campaigning.<br /><br />However, Sukhbir Badal had been categorically saying the Badal family had no connections with Manpreet Badal and the party's interests were supreme to them. Akalis are leading at 8 and the BJP and allies at 3 seats.<br /><br />Punjab Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu is also trailing at the third spot in Amritsar East. Former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh is trailing from home-turf Patiala. He is contesting against Aam Aadmi Party's Ajit Pal Singh Kohli.  The BJP took winning leads in both Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand while the Congress raced ahead of the AAP in Punjab as officials counted votes polled in assembly elections.<br />

In Goa, the Congress was leading in eight constituencies to the BJP's three.<br />

Bharatiya Janata Party candidates led in 190 of the 277 seats in Uttar Pradesh after one hour of counting, with party leaders saying that the BJP could win as many as 250 of the 403 seats if this trend continued.<br />

In contrast, the alliance of the ruling Samajwadi Party and the Congress led in 64 constituencies, followed by the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in 23.<br />

Election Commission officials said the BJP was leading in most major cities including Allahabad, Lucknow and Kanpur.<br />

People are ripping apart McDonald's latest attempt to win over millennials

<ul class="summary-list"><li>The Australian government has been accused of dragging out the <a href="https://www.insider.com/category/novak-djokovic">Novak Djokovic</a> visa saga.</li><li>Opposition figure Jim Chalmers said it was doing so to distract from the country's COVID-19 troubles. </li></ul><p>The Australian government has been accused of dragging out the <a href="https://www.insider.com/category/novak-djokovic">Novak Djokovic</a> visa saga to distract from the country's ongoing COVID-19 troubles.</p><p><a href="https://www.insider.com/novak-djokovics-visa-has-been-revoked-by-australia-again-2022-1">Djokovic had his visa revoked for a second time on Friday</a> following a 10-day rigmarole that started when the world number one arrived in Melbourne on January 5.</p><p>The Serbian first had his visa cancelled by Australia's border forces after it was <a href="https://www.insider.com/novak-djokovic-australia-facing-investigation-about-misleading-travel-form-2022-1">deemed that the medical exemption he had been initially granted by the Australian Open was not sufficient to enter the country.</a></p><p><a href="https://www.insider.com/novak-djokovic-held-in-detention-center-while-awaiting-deportation-2022-1">After just over four days being held in an immigration detention facility,</a> Djokovic was then released and his visa was reinstated following a successful appeal in court.</p><p>But revelations that he provided false information about his movements prior to flying to Australia on his travel declaration form then <a href="https://www.insider.com/novak-djokovic-australia-facing-investigation-about-misleading-travel-form-2022-1">led to an investigation at the hands of the Australian Border Force. </a></p><p>Alex Hawke, Australia's immigration minister, was expected to make a decision as to whether to revoke Djokovic's visa for a second time in light of the revelations early in the week, however it wasn't until Friday he eventually made the call to do so. </p><p>The lengthy saga has led some in Australian politics to suggest that the government is trying to distract from other issues in the country.</p><p><a href="https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2022/jan/14/morrison-government-dragging-out-djokovic-visa-saga-as-a-distraction-labor-says">According to The Guardian,</a> at a press conference Friday, Labor's shadow treasurer Jim Chalmers accused the current government of "using this <keyword id="11994967" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="novak-djokovic" source="Orion">Novak Djokovic</keyword> saga as a distraction from the shortages in our supermarkets, the shortages in our chemists, the shortages of workers."</p><p>On Friday, <a href="https://covid-19-au.com/">Australia reported over 130,000 new cases of COVID</a>, largely due to surge in Omicron infections. This was its highest ever single day case number.</p><p>Rising cases are driving up hospitalization rates and putting a severe strain on several of the country's industries, including food distribution and transport, <a href="https://www.reuters.com/business/healthcare-pharmaceuticals/australia-covid-19-infections-hit-record-amid-runaway-omicron-outbreak-2022-01-13/">according to Reuters.</a></p><p>Speaking just prior to Friday's decision to revoke Djokovic's visa for a second time, Tasmanian senator Jacqui Lambie called the government's handling of the situation an "absolute shambles."</p><p>"Maybe it's about time to stop this debacle, finish it once and for all," she told Channel 9's Today programme, <a href="https://www.sbs.com.au/news/an-absolute-shambles-jacqui-lambie-urges-minister-to-make-djokovic-decision/8af0205c-3279-4abe-b783-97ca9845b803">per SBS News.</a> "Make up your mind, Alex Hawke, and where are you? Missing in action? Make a decision."</p><p>She added: "If you can't make a decision on Novak Djokovic, goodness me, how are you guys running the country? This is an absolute shambles.</p><p>"Let alone what it's making us look like in the face of the rest of the world. The federal aged care royal commission has criticised the Morrison government for failing to establish independent monitoring and reporting of aged care quality outcomes during the coronavirus pandemic" height="1375" width="2000" msid="88900045" hostid="261"></div><p>Djokovic's saga is far from over yet, however.</p><p>Djokovic's lawyers appeared in front of Judge Anthony Kelly in the Federal Circuit Court for a hearing on Friday, <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_-BcBnNeLA">where Kelly outlined the next steps in the Serbian's appeal case.</a></p><p>At the request of the player's lawyer, Nick Wood, the Australian government agreed to delay a full hearing until Sunday, and to not start the deportation process for Djokovic before then.</p><p>Djokovic's legal team and the team representing the Australian government will make submissions on Saturday ahead of Sunday's hearing. Djokovic will also attend an immigration hearing at 8 a.m. on Saturday.</p><p>The 34-year-old is not being detained overnight Friday, but government lawyer Stephen Lloyd proposed that he be detained on Saturday prior to the Sunday hearing, to which he would have to be escorted to by Australian Border Force officers.</p><p>Wood told the hearing that he accepts that the government is within its rights to take Djokovic into detention, but warned doing so would result in a "media circus."</p><p>Should be allowed to remain in Australia, Djokovic is set to face countryman Miomir Kecmanovic in the first round of the <keyword id="12003353" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="australian-open" source="Orion">Australian Open</keyword> on Monday or Tuesday.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;"><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image"></div></div></div></span></p><ul class="summary-list"><li><strong>Ethnically Iranian users and users who have traveled to Iran found out Wednesday that their Slack accounts had been shut down.</strong></li><li><strong>Slack identified those users' accounts as being from Iran, which has been sanctioned, based on IP addresses.</strong></li><li><strong>However, many of these users do not actually live in Iran, nor do they have professional ties to Iran.</strong></li></ul><p>Users are reporting via social media that Slack, the $7 billion work chat app, is shutting down their accounts because they live in Iran, which is under newly-reimposed sanctions.&#xa0;</p><p>The problem, these users say, is that they&#xa0;<em>don't&#xa0;</em>live in Iran, but that they are ethnically Iranian or had recently traveled to the country. <span style="font-weight: 400;">Some of these users include a PhD student living in Canada, and a software engineer, who is a U.S. citizen living in Pennsylvania. </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Amir Omidi, a software engineer at IPinfo, said that he found out his account got shut down Wednesday night.</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Slack did not respond to a request for comment at the time of publication.</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">These users say they received a message from Slack saying that the company no longer allows use of its product in <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/us-sanctions-on-iran-and-russia-probably-wont-work-2018-8">sanctioned countries</a> and regions, including Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria and the Crimea region of Ukraine. The U.S. had recently <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-iran-sanctions-game-of-thrones-2018-11">reimposed all sanctions</a> on Iran. These sanctions, which <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/ap-us-reimposes-all-iran-sanctions-lifted-under-nuclear-deal-2018-11">went into effect</a> on November 5, include <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-iran-us-economic-sanctions-more-effective-2018-11">strict oil sanctions</a>, as well as sanctions that cover the shipping and financial sectors.</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The message said that <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/slack-cal-henderson-microsoft-becoming-biggest-competitor-2018-12/">Slack</a> identified those users' accounts as being from one of those countries, so they shut down their account. The problem is, many of these users are neither living in Iran, nor do they have professional ties to Iran.</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">"No way to prove that I'm not living in Iran and not working with Iranians on slack. Nope. Just hello we're banning your account," Omidi tweeted.</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"></span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Since then, he tweeted that he's had to track down his co-workers to let them know why his account disappeared. He also contacted Slack to look into his account getting shut down, he says.&#xa0;</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">"For anyone considering creating an international team using Slack. Just don't. This predatory business practice is unbelievable," Omidi tweeted.</span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Likewise, Amir Abdi, a PhD student at the University of British Columbia, also said on Wednedsay that his account was shut down.'</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">"Is Slack shutting down accounts of those ethnically associated with Iran?! And what's their source of info on my ethnicity?" The FBI is investigating an <a href="https://www.insider.com/el-paso-manifesto-investigated-after-shooting-2019-8">anti-immigrant manifesto</a> believed to have been written by the El Paso shooter, 21-year-old Patrick Crusius. The manifesto describes the author's fear that Hispanic "invaders" would turn Texas into a "Democratic stronghold."</p><p>After the El Paso shooting, the Southern Poverty Law Center, which monitors hate groups and other extremists in the US, released <a href="https://www.splcenter.org/hatewatch/2019/08/03/el-paso-shooting-suspect-may-have-authored-manifesto-containing-white-nationalist-talking">a statement</a> about the manifesto and Crusius' purported social media accounts that also contain white nationalist and anti-immigrant remarks.</p><p>The SPLC's Intelligence Project Director, Heidi Beirich, told INSIDER that manifestos and online posts containing these sentiments are "not a new phenomenon," given that the New Zealand Christchurch mosque mass shooting perpetrator who <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/new-zealand-mosque-shootings">killed 51 people</a> also issued a <a href="https://www.scmp.com/news/asia/australasia/article/3001902/new-zealand-shooting-christchurch-mosque-gunman-posted-racist">similar manifesto</a>.</p><p>&#xa0;</p><p>Beirich also noted that domestic terrorism in 2018 in the US was predominantly rooted in white supremacy, including the Charlottesville, North Carolina "Unite the Right" riot that <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/2017/local/charlottesville-timeline/?utm_term=.9173589b8b0d">resulted in</a> the death of activist Heather Heyer. Both <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2018/11/13/us/hate-crimes-fbi-2017.html">hate crimes</a> and mass shootings are on the rise in the US, with the latter <a href="https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/2019/07/31/california-gilroy-garlic-festival-shooting-gun/1870808001/">becoming both</a> more numerous and more deadly.</p><p>"What we've seen is a great decline in Islamic extremist terrorism, at least within the boundaries of our country, and a rise of this kind of violence," Beirich said, noting that President Donald Trump's racist rhetoric has encouraged the phenomenon. She agrees that social media plays a role in incubating white nationalist sentiments, but noted that platforms like <a href="https://www.insider.com/8chan-founder-extremist-online-sites-responsible-for-another-shooting-2019-4">4chan and 8chan</a> "are unregulated spaces whose owners don't care about this stuff at all."</p><p>&#xa0;</p><p>Beirich told INSIDER that platforms like PayPal, Facebook, and YouTube have established awareness of the problem of white supremacist content and users, and are actively taking steps to combat hate speech. She says the SPLC has been lobbying big tech companies since before the Charlottesville riots, and that most major platforms besides Twitter, where Trump frequently issues racist rhetoric, have implemented changes.</p><p>"If the social media companies can start doing something about white supremacy and call it out for what it is and say that it's dangerous and it's poisoning people's minds, you'd think that Trump could do the same," Beirich said. "Mulvaney is basically dodging the issue here, which is the tech world knows this is a problem and is trying to fix it for the most part, and the President of the United States is fueling it on his own social media account on Twitter.</p><p>She told INSIDER that members of the GOP and those in high office need to condemn Trump's language, along with any racist, anti-immigrant language used by elected officials like Representative Steve King from Iowa, who was <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2019/01/15/us/politics/steve-king-offensive-quotes.html">removed from</a> his House committee seats in Janurary for defending white supremacy.</p><p>"Call it for what it is, which is either racist or anti-immigrant, and say that it has no place in polite society," Beirich said. "Trump has also said after the Christchurch shooting that white nationalism is not really a big problem, while his FBI director is saying it's the biggest domestic terrorism problem we have. That kind of conflicting messaging has to stop. Trump has to stop."</p><p>Beirich also discouraged the idea that the El Paso mass shooting was a mental health issue, noting that radicalization into white supremacy is "a reality" separate from mental illness.&#xa0;</p><p>"Our public officials need to accept that we have massive hate-driven violence going on and that needs to be our focus," Beirich said. "I think if Trump were to stop fanning the flames and if GOP folks who have said racist things like Steve King were stopped and other members of the party said 'We're not a party for hate, we're not gonna do this,' that would help greatly.</p><p>"But we've already got the ball rolling. We've got two years of the Trump presidency, we don't know how many young men were radicalized into white supremacy before the tech companies took this seriously. The problem is absolutely not going to go away, because we fueled it, Trump fueled it, we've got the ball rolling. Hate speech has spread everywhere [...] Every bit of what he's done has helped fuel this."</p><p>On Saturday evening, Trump tweeted "I know that I stand with everyone in this Country to condemn today's hateful act. There are no reasons or excuses that will ever justify killing innocent people." Ivanka Trump was more explicit in her condemnations, writing, "White supremacy, like all other forms of terrorism, is an evil that must be destroyed." 'Trump has to stop': The president's racist, anti-immigrant rhetoric has encouraged mass shootings, including El Paso, according to hate and extremism expert

<ul><li>While the <keyword id="1754604" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="coronavirus">Coronavirus</keyword> outbreak has led to productions of films and daily soaps being stopped across the country, TV viewership is going up due to people staying at home.</li><li>However, the GECs re now faced with the challenge of coming up with fresh content for its viewers.</li><li>In such a scenario, how are these channels planning to tackle the situation?</li></ul>It’s been close to 2 weeks since India’s film and television bodies decided to suspend shootings from to avoid the spread of the novel Coronavirus. The Indian Film &amp; Television Directors' Association (IFTDA), Producers Guild of India and Federation of Western Indian Cine Employees (FWICE) had decided on March 17 to put production and shooting on hold till March 31.<br /><br /> As the PM announced his 21-day complete lockdown, production will not start before April 14. The biggest impact of this will be on GEC channels that usually work with a content bank of about two weeks. However, with the lockdown, these channels will soon run out of fresh content to air.<br /><br /> Considering most people are stuck at home, OTT and TV viewership saw a spike, according to Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India data. The total TV consumption saw a spike of 8% across India in the week ended March 20 (<keyword id="8763838" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="covid-19">Covid-19</keyword> Week 1), while the total time spent per user on smartphones went increased by 6.2% to 25 hours a week. Moreover, the consumption growth in the Hindi speaking markets (HSM) was at around 10% in comparison to the South region that grew by 5%. The HSM region saw an increase in terms of both reach and time spent.<br /><br /> While this opens up possibilities for advertisers to catch more eyeballs, GECs are now faced with the problem of running out of content. In such a scenario, what is the strategy they are employing to ensure that they do not lose their audience who can only stay engaged if they are offered something new to watch?<br /><br /> <b>Ensuring all-round entertainment for consumers </b><br /><br /> While production has come to a complete halt, all the channels believe that the show mustn’t stop and are strategizing at how to make the best use of the content at their disposal currently. <br /><br /> Speaking about how it is working around the current situation, <keyword id="3387826" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Prathyusha-Agarwal">Prathyusha Agarwal</keyword>, Chief Consumer Officer, <keyword id="174248" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Zee-Entertainment-Enterprises-Ltd">Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd</keyword> said, “Taking into consideration the explosion in TV consumption and the changing composition of audiences, there is a need to customize programming for this emerging trend. Also, since it is an industry phenomenon, all GEC channels will witness a drop in ad spends,” explained Sharma.<br /><br /> Added Agarwal, “Over the next 3 weeks, we expect content consumption on TV to go up as people look to keep themselves entertained. Given the temporary nature of the lockdown, it would be imprudent to quote any implication as of now, but we are sure that TV has become an essential service providing the much needed companionship to families in the current times.”<br /><br />
