The company won 11 large deals across 5 segments -- transportation, industrial products, telecom and hi-tech, plant engineering and medical devices. “Digital transformation deals now account for 54% of our revenue. The engineering services company relies on a combination of patent, copyright and trademark laws, trade secrets, confidentiality procedures and contractual provisions to protect its intellectual property. “We started the new fiscal with a strong performance, despite the pandemic related challenges during the quarter. In Q1, we got our revenue back on the double-digit growth trajectory and marked four consecutive quarters of operating margin improvement. The deal pipeline is healthy across segments, and we expect broad based growth to continue. Our innovation engine is matching the pace of our growth as we filed a record 23 patents in Q1,” said Amit Chadha, chief executive officer and managing director of L&amp;T Technology Services in June quarter release. Further, the company looks to scale its operations in 6 areas -- automated electric vehicles, medical technologies, digital manufacturing, artificial intelligence and machine learning, and sustainability. L&T Technology Services gains more than 18% in a day on strong financials

To tap the upbeat investor sentiment, three firms - <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=IPO&amp;sortorder=score">ICICI Prudential Life</a> <keyword id="35450" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="insurance">Insurance</keyword> Company, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=IPO&amp;sortorder=score">L&amp;T Technology Services</a> and <keyword id="3079163" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="GNA-Axles">GNA Axles</keyword> - will hit the markets this month to raise over Rs 7,000 crore through IPO. 
 Bidding for shares in <keyword id="1380245" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="LT-Technology-Services">L&amp;T Technology Services</keyword> will open tomorrow, while the same for GNA Axles would begin on September 14 and <keyword id="75577" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="ICICI-Prudential-Life">ICICI Prudential Life</keyword>'s public issue would be open for subscription from September 19. 
 The public issue of ICICI <keyword id="118708" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Prudential">Prudential</keyword> Life is expected to garner Rs 6,057 crore, L&amp;T Technology (Rs 894 crore) and GNA Axles (Rs 130 crore). 
 The equity shares offered through the initial public offers (IPOs) are proposed to be listed on the BSE and <keyword id="6354646" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="NSE">NSE</keyword>. 
 
Since the beginning of 2016, as many as 17 companies have already floated their IPOs and got listed on the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=IPO&amp;sortorder=score">stock exchanges</a>. 
 
ICICI Prudential Life's public offer comprises up to 18,13,41,058 <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=IPO&amp;sortorder=score">equity shares </a>of <keyword id="632740" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="ICICI-Prudential-Life-Insurance-Company">ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company</keyword>. 
 
This would be the first public issue by an insurer in India. It would also be the biggest IPO after Coal India, which had hit the markets in 2010 to raise over Rs 15,000 crore. 
 The insurer is a venture between banking major <keyword id="6653" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="ICICI-bank">ICICI Bank</keyword> and UK's Prudential Corporation Holdings. ICICI Bank has around 68% stake in the insurer, while Prudential has 26 per cent. <keyword id="6356662" type="COUNTRY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Singapore">Singapore</keyword>'s <keyword id="6367519" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Temasek">Temasek</keyword> and PremjiInvest also are shareholders. 
 
The firm has fixed a price band between Rs 300 to Rs 334 per equity share. 
 L&amp;T Technology Services' IPO comprises an offer for sale of up to 10,400,000 shares by its promoter <keyword id="147676" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Larsen">Larsen</keyword> and <keyword id="304986" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Toubro">Toubro</keyword> (L&amp;T). The firm has fixed price band of Rs 850 to Rs 860 per share for the IPO. 
 
The initial public offering of auto components maker GNA Axles comprises an issue of up to 63 lakh shares. The price band has been sat Rs 205-207 per share.

"Our intent is to keep both of them separate,” President SN Subrahmanyan said at a press conference after the conglomerate, which spans businesses from infrastructure to information technology, bought a controlling stake in the Bengaluru-based Mindtree. This will be the first hostile takeover of an Indian information technology (IT) services firm as Mindtree's founders resisted the takeover by L&amp;T. L&amp;T Infotech, which is the conglomerate's IT subsidiary, has already lost a lot of share value since January when the rumours of the takeover surfaced. Investors <a target="_blank" href="https://www.livemint.com/market/mark-to-market/l-t-infotech-shares-already-carry-scars-of-meddling-with-mindtree-1552842303673.html">fear merging with Mindtree</a>, which has only one large client that is Microsoft, may hurt the performance of L&amp;T Infotech, whose stock price has more than doubled in the last three years and has a <a target="_blank" href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/tech/ites/lt-set-to-seal-mindtree-deal-with-caf-coffee-day-founder-vg-siddhartha/articleshow/68457010.cms">significantly wider profit</a> margin of 16% compared to Mindtree's 10%. However, Subrahmanyan explained that L&amp;T Infotech will continue its existing focus on banking, insurance etc, whereas Mindtree will operate in retail and hospitality. L&amp;T will buy coffee baron VG Siddhartha's20.4% stake in the the mid-tier IT services company Mindtree for approximately ₹3,300 crore. L&amp;T also intends to purchase an additional stake of upto 15% from the open market and another 31% from Mindtree shareholders at ₹980 per share.

The move has come after the founders <a href="https://www.livemint.com/" data-type="tilCustomLink" target="_blank">reportedly</a> could not find private equity investors to counter L&amp;T's offer. L&amp;T <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/business/india-business/lt-to-make-1st-ever-hostile-bid-in-indian-it-for-mindtree/articleshow/68457037.cms" data-type="tilCustomLink" target="_blank">reportedly</a> plans to spend $1 billion, including an open offer to minority investors, to gain controlling stake in the company. Indian takeover laws mandate that the suitor must buy shares worth 26% of the target company from the open market, if the stake in the target exceeds 25%. L&amp;T's offer price for another 31% stake in Mindtree may be around ₹980 apiece, a 4% premium to Friday’s closing price, the Economic Times reported. A share buyback by the existing board of directors at Mindtree would mean the company will use a part of its existing ₹2.8 billion reserves to thwart L&amp;T's bid. Investors may not like that, especially, at a time when there is premium offer on the table. These are the stocks to watch out for during the trading session today: Reliance Industries India’s richest man Mukesh Ambani-owned Reliance Industries’ retail arm has picked up 96% stake in online furniture retailer <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/retail/news/reliance-retail-acquires-urban-ladder-for-182-crore-at-a-sixth-of-the-startups-peak-valuation-in-2018/articleshow/79230550.cms">Urban Ladder</a> for over ₹182 crore. The company said this acquisition would help Reliance Retail in bolstering its presence in the fast-growing e-commerce segment and widening the bouquet of consumer products provided by it as it looks to compete with e-commerce majors like Amazon and Flipkart. The shares of Reliance Industries ended 1.09% higher on Saturday. Future Retail Amazon is seeking to control <a href="https://www.timesnownews.com/business-economy/companies/article/amazon-seeks-control-of-rs-30k-crore-future-group-assets-with-rs-1431-crore-investment/682460">100% of Future Retail by controlling the entire Kishore Biyani’s Groups majority equity</a> in FRL, which means with an investment of ₹1,431 crore, it seeks to control Future Groups assets worth about ₹30,000 crore. BPCL The much-anticipated privatisation process of the Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL) completed its first phase on Monday with several suitors submitting Expressions of Interest (EoI) for the state-run oil major. The transaction will move to the second stage after scrutiny by the transaction adviser, according to a tweet from the Secretary of the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM). The shares of BPCL ended 5% higher on Saturday. Wipro The global information technology giant Wipro and SNP Schneider-Neureither &amp; Partner SE announced a strategic partnership to help customers accelerate their enterprise transformation journey. As part of the partnership, Wipro will leverage SNP’s CrystalBridge data transformation platform and the Bluefield approach to provide customers worldwide with a flexible, fast and secure migration to SAP S/4HANA, a statement said. The shares of Wipro ended 0.10% higher on Saturday. Larsen &amp; Toubro Engineering and construction giant Larsen &amp; Toubro has emerged as the lowest bidder for a ₹3,200 crore project to build a road bridge over the Brahmaputra river, according to an NHIDCL official. It will be one of the longest road bridges over a river in the country and on completion will connect two eastern states - Assam and Meghalaya. The shares of Larsen &amp; Toubro ended 1% lower on Saturday. NBCC The state-owned construction firm NBCC on Monday said it had bagged business orders worth ₹1,165.52 crore last month. The shares of NBCC ended 0.4% lower on Saturday. PVR The cinema giant PVR has launched a new single screen cinema in Lucknow, and opened three new screens in Faridabad. Top stocks to watch — RIL, Future Retail, BPCL, Wipro, L&T, and others

<ul><li>L&amp;T now has 51.8% stake in Mindtree</li><li>73.9% of Mindtree shareholders sold in an open offer by L&amp;T</li><li>Mindtree shareholder Nalanda Capital offloaded its 10.6% stake to L&amp;T</li></ul> L&amp;T is known to have taken over controlling stake in IT services company Mindtree, pulling off a rare feat in India --- a hostile takeover. A large chunk of Mindtree shareholders tilted towards infrastructure major Larsen &amp; Toubro as 73.9% of them sold in the open offer at ₹980 a share. This has given<a href="https://www.livemint.com/companies/news/l-t-acquires-52-of-mindtree-in-indian-it-industry-s-first-hostile-takeover-1561536743325.html"> 51.8% stake in the</a> company to L&amp;T, and is known to have made over 20% stake from the offer, which was announced on June 7. The takeover turned successful after Nalanda Capital decided to offload its 10.6% stake to L&amp;T as a part of the open offer process, on June 24. Hostile takeovers are not common in India as promoters and the family own majority stake in their companies, leaving few outsiders to ever take control. Story so far However, Mindtree is one of the rare exceptions which is held by a clutch of investors and co-founder Subrato Bagchi. The takeover attempt started in March earlier when L&amp;T purchased 20% stake held by V D Siddhartha, the owner of Café Coffee Day chain for around ₹32.6 billion. After this, the promoters refused a bid to sell their stake, even as L&amp;T said it wanted to increase its shareholding to 66%. Even as L&amp;T has turned the promoter with a majority stake, during the course of the open offer more Mindtree investors are expected to concede. According to a<a href="https://www.business-standard.com/article/companies/subroto-bagchi-likely-to-offload-mindtree-stake-in-ongoing-open-offer-119062501210_1.html"> report by Business Standard</a>, the founder Subroto Bagchi, as well as Arohi Asset Management and Amansa Capital too, are in the process of giving up, to give way to L&amp;T. Interestingly, L&amp;T itself was once a target of a hostile takeover by none other than Reliance Industries which was then headed by Dhirubhai Ambani in 1987. Kumar Mangalam Birla was also one of the people who had purchased stake in the construction company, in an attempt to take over. However, timely thinking and setting up a trust by its own employees helped buy shares back. The trust is now of its biggest shareholders, after public sector insurance companies and banks.

According to the BSE filing, Bharti Infratel will be a majority shareholder in the merged entity with a likely stake of 68.6%, whereas the London-listed Vodafone Group will hold around 28.2% of the stake. Escorts gains over 5% The shares of Escorts Motors gained nearly 5% on the back of blockbuster August sales data. The company has registered a whopping 80% growth in August tractor sales compared to the same period last year. The company further said it remains optimistic about further sales during the festive season. BEML and Tata Power gains ground BEML shares were up 4%, whereas Tata Power gained 2% after the company closed ₹2,580 crore deal with the Indian Defence Ministry for the procurement of Pinaka rocket launchers for six Army regiments. The contract has been signed with Tata Power Company Ltd (TPCL) and engineering major Larsen &amp; Toubro (L&amp;T) while defence public sector undertaking Bharat Earth Movers Ltd (BEML) will also be part of the project. Biocon gains 5% Biocon shares gained nearly 5% after its subsidiary along with Mylan NV, launched an insulin glargine injection Semglee in the US market. The company said ‘Semglee’ has received final approval from the US FDA and has an identical amino acid sequence to Sanofi’s Lantus, a drug that is used to control high blood sugar. Future Retail tumbles 9% Future Retail shares tumbled 9% after the Government Pension Fund Global, one of the world’s largest sovereign wealth funds sold 95 lakh shares at ₹158.61 per share. The Government Pension Fund Global fund held 2.28% stake in the Future Retail at the end of June. L&amp;T gained 2% L&amp;T shares gained nearly 2% during the early trading hours after the company closed the long-awaited strategic divestment of L&amp;T Electrical and Automation business to Schneider Electric for ₹14,000 crore. The L&amp;T deal was announced in May 2018 and took over 2 years to be completed after receiving the requisite regulatory approvals. ONGC tanks 4% ONGC shares tanked 4% ahead of the first quarterly earnings. During the meeting today the board will also consider the proposal of raising funds of up to ₹45,000 crore. In the second-quarter, the company sold 18.22 lakh units, a growth of 7.7% over the same quarter last year. The shares of Hero Motocorp ended 1% higher on Wednesday. Axis Bank Axis Bank posted a net <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/finance/banks/news/axis-bank-q2-results-profit-revenue-fee-collection-and-provisions/articleshow/78913594.cms">profit </a>of ₹1,683 crore for the second quarter ended September 30. The bank had posted a net loss of ₹112 crore in the same quarter last year. The net interest income (NII) zoomed over 20% to ₹7,326 crore during the quarter under review. The shares of Axis Bank ended 0.43% lower on Wednesday. Larsen &amp; Toubro (L&amp;T) Engineering and construction giant Larsen &amp; Toubro (L&amp;T) posted a 45% decline in consolidated net profit to ₹1,410.29 crore for the quarter ended September 30. The company said cash generation from operations was robust during the quarter, which was strongly supplemented by proceeds from the divestment of E&amp;A business. The company bagged orders worth ₹28,039 crore at the group level during the quarter, registering a decline of 42% compared to the same period last year. The shares of Larsen &amp; Toubro (L&amp;T) ended 0.41% higher on Wednesday. Cipla The drug major Cipla announced the launch of antibody detection kits for COVID-19 in India under the brand name ‘ELIFast’ in partnership with KARWA, under the technology transfer from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). IgG antibody tests identify the immune status of the individuals to COVID-19. The shares of Cipla ended 0.55% lower on Wednesday. Ajanta Pharma The board of directors of Ajanta Pharma will meet on November 3 to consider a proposal for buy-back of the equity shares of the company and the unaudited consolidated and financial results for the quarter ended September 30. The shares of Ajanta Pharma ended 1% higher on Wednesday. NTPC India’s largest energy conglomerate NTPC has signed an agreement with Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) for a loan worth ₹3,500 crore. As per the agreement, JBIC will provide 60% of the loan amount, and the balance will be extended by commercial banks namely Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, Bank of Yokohama, San-In Godo Bank, Joyo Bank and Nanto Bank, under the JBIC guarantee, NTPC said. The shares of NTPC ended 2% lower on Wednesday. GlaxoSmithKline Pharma GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals reported an 85% drop in its consolidated net profit to ₹76.47 crore for the quarter ended September 30. The company’s consolidated revenue from operations stood at ₹879.32 crore for the quarter. It was ₹882.02 crore for the same period a year ago. The shares of GlaxoSmithKline Pharma ended 0.29% higher on Wednesday.
