The engineering services company relies on a combination of patent, copyright and trademark laws, trade secrets, confidentiality procedures and contractual provisions to protect its intellectual property. “We started the new fiscal with a strong performance, despite the pandemic related challenges during the quarter. In Q1, we got our revenue back on the double-digit growth trajectory and marked four consecutive quarters of operating margin improvement. The deal pipeline is healthy across segments, and we expect broad based growth to continue. Our innovation engine is matching the pace of our growth as we filed a record 23 patents in Q1,” said Amit Chadha, chief executive officer and managing director of L&amp;T Technology Services in June quarter release. L&T Technology Services gains more than 18% in a day on strong financials

New Delhi, <keyword id="188376" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="LT-Foods" source="Orion">LT Foods</keyword> Ltd on Monday reported a 64.86 per cent rise in consolidated net profit to Rs 157.26 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, helped by expansion in domestic and foreign markets. It had reported a net profit of Rs 95.39 crore for the July-September quarter a year ago, according to a regulatory filing by LT Foods Ltd, which owns basmati rice brands -- Daawat and Royal. Its revenue from operation increased 14.66 per cent to Rs 1,977.78 crore during the quarter under review. It was Rs 1,724.83 crore a year ago. The total expenses in the September quarter surged 11.94 per cent to Rs 1,792.33 crore. Its total income in the September quarter rose 15.02 per cent year-on-year to Rs 1,991.81 crore. LT Foods Managing Director and CEO Ashwani Arora said: "Our ongoing efforts to expand our presence in India and International markets have yielded substantial results, with our total business growing by 13 per cent during H1 FY24 and profit after tax (PAT) grew by 55 per cent". LT Foods is a leading player globally in the speciality rice and rice-based foods business. Over the outlook, Arora said in response to the evolving consumer trends and preferences, LT Foods will grow its core business and innovate and introduce new product offerings diversifying its product portfolio. "We are confident of continued improvement in our performance over the long term and in our ability to deliver consistent, sustainable, profitable, and responsible growth," he said. Shares of LT Foods Ltd on Monday were trading at Rs 162.25 on BSE during the afternoon, down 0.46 per cent from the previous close.

LT Foods Q2 2023-24 net profit rises 64.8% to Rs 157.26 cr

However, Subrahmanyan was one of top executives of the company who took a voluntary pay cut during the pandemic year. In real terms, currently his salary is much higher than it was before the pandemic. The company which has also been fighting off pandemic blues has booked orders to the tune of ₹1.9 lakh crore in the last financial year – which grew at 10%. The company’s CFO Shankar Raman’s salary too almost doubled to ₹16 crore. The biggest jump in salary however was reserved for SV Desai, the senior VP of construction – whose salary went up almost three times. It is to be noted however that their former CMD and the current group chairman AM <keyword id="50744" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="naik" source="Orion">Naik</keyword>’s salary barely changed during the year. L&T CMD SN Subrahmanyan’s salary doubles after a pandemic cut but Naik’s pay remains the same

Though the engineering and construction giant did not reveal the worth of the order, as per the project classification of the company, a large project falls in the range of ₹ 2,500 crore to ₹ 5,000 crore. "The buildings and factories business of L&amp;T Construction has secured an order from the <keyword id="6432751" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="national-high-speed-rail-corporation-limited" source="Orion">National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited</keyword> (NHSRCL) to construct the Sabarmati Depot (MAHSR - D-2) in Gujarat for the (MAHSR project through a consortium led by <keyword id="1137882" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="sojitz-corporation" source="Orion">Sojitz Corporation</keyword>, Japan," it said. The scope of the project involves design, supply, construction and testing, and commissioning of the depot spread over approximately 82 hectares including various specialised equipment required to inspect and maintain the rolling stock based on the proven <keyword id="1932907" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="shinkansen" source="Orion">Shinkansen</keyword> technology and upon completion, will be the biggest depot in India for this purpose. L&amp;T is already executing civil viaduct and station packages (C4, C5 &amp; C6), special steel bridges packages P4(X) and P4 (Y), and ballastless track works for the bullet train project. L&T bags new large order in Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project

The current geopolitical scenario and the global trade barriers are creating opportunities for India and the government needs to encash this opportunity, a senior <keyword id="45475" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Larsen-Toubro">Larsen &amp; Toubro</keyword> official said. Acknowledging that the general slowdown in the economy has impacted the construction sector in India, <keyword id="6354919" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="LT">L&amp;T</keyword>'s Whole Time Director and CFO R Shankar Raman said that the government also needs to create an environment for multilaterals, with huge development budgets, to invest in India. "The trade barriers that are happening globally are creating opportunities for countries like us provided we are willing to encash. This will be a window which could soon disappear," Raman told reporters after announcing the company's quarterly performance.
 He said that multilaterals have a lot of developmental budgets available for spending and we are seeing a lot of Japanese credit coming in and few others also investing.
 "The FDI numbers have gone up. There are people who want to take call on India. What the government has to do is to create an environment which will make them feel comfortable for lending as well as investing. I think government can address some of these issues and industry can respond by moving forward," Raman added.
 He further noted that the economic agenda is coming to the front burner from the back burner for the first time in the current year. 
 "There have been a lot of political distractions. There have also been extensive industry consultations at various levels in the government and there is seriousness to revival. What is ailing us is soft consumption as there are no jobs that are getting created which has led to discretionary spends to be put on hold. If growth has to come back, if investment has to happen, it's important that consumption has to happen," Raman added.
 He also noted that it will take a year and year-and-half from now for things to fall in place and the situation to improve.
 Company's managing director and CEO SN Subrahmanyan said that government should speed up the pace big ticket size projects and ensure they are not stuck.
 "There are big ticket size projects announced like the river interlinking, road expansions, the high speed corridor, among others which are moving slowly. We do expect these to pick up as this situation cannot prevail long. There are various disputes and arbitrations which are now getting sorted out," he said. 
 Subrahmanyan also said that stretched balance sheets among their competitors sometimes has placed the company in the position of being the sole bidder for major infrastructure projects. 
 "There are orders where L&amp;T is the single bidder and hence, we have to bid in 2-3 rounds to win projects. In certain government projects, L&amp;T's pricing is below the government's budget. In such cases, the government has cut the scope of the projects to meet their budget constraints," he added.
 On expectations from the upcoming Union Budget, Raman said the government does not have enough resources to meet its plans for public spending. 
 "The government is not scaling down its plan but is struggling to figure out a way to meet the plans. So lead indicators from the budget may be some slippages in fiscal in the larger interest of economic growth, the financial responsibility mandate that they cast upon themselves can get more flexible in implementation. The other will be how much money they will borrow," Raman added.

Its fixed carbon bucket seats can be a little jarring, since they leave little room for anything other than locking your body in place and keeping your hands on the wheel. The 765LT Spider isn't the most comfortable a McLaren's ever felt, but considering it's as hardcore as they get, it was pleasant. <div type="image" title="McLaren 675LT" height="4000" width="5333" msid="92732029" hostid="261" sizebytes="1121762"></div>What I didn't expect was to be able to hear quite so much of the car itself. In order to cut all the extra weight, things like carpets were taken out. The side effect is not only a quicker car, but mechanical noises. You can hear the car's innards do their thing. It's peculiar, but it offers a refreshing honesty.In the city, its 755 horsepower seems a little lost. You can get to the speed limit awfully quick, but the car begs you to take it further — even if pressing on its pedals would result in losing your license in seconds. The LT's automatic transmission is smooth when you ask it to be, both when it's shifting itself and when you're pulling its tactile shift paddles.<div type="image" title="McLaren 675LT" height="4000" width="5333" msid="92732031" hostid="261" sizebytes="351772"></div>You'd expect a car like this — one with a wide rear and not too much rear visibility — to be a nightmare to navigate around tight spaces, but it isn't at all. The wing mirrors do a good job, as does the backup camera.A car like the 765LT Spider will probably spend most of its life as it did with me: being paraded through built up areas having its picture taken. But to have it for a short time and not go exploring in the countryside is a crime, so I headed toward the coast. <div type="image" title="McLaren 675LT" height="4000" width="5333" msid="92732032" hostid="261" sizebytes="777796"></div>Drive mode set to "Sport" (because "Track" is too rough for the real world), the Spider felt incredible. Nailing the gas caused the car to pick up pace with gusto. The whole car feels light, gliding to ludicrous speeds without issue. However, if you don't treat it with the respect it deserves — like being gentle with its hair-trigger gas pedal — it can catch you unaware. When that happens, the rear wheels skate around.<div type="image" title="McLaren 675LT" height="4000" width="5333" msid="92732033" hostid="261" sizebytes="717852"></div>When the speeds get high, you have to handle it with care. If not, it feels like it'll bite rather hard.The brakes, a McLaren strong point, are incredible. That's partly thanks to pedal feel, but also the active. The spoiler slices through the air at high speeds, but when you need to stop in a hurry, it'll lift itself to an angry, almost vertical angle and essentially become a sail.With sport mode engaged, the gearbox and suspension are more ferocious. Lumps and bumps make themselves known. <div type="image" title="McLaren 675LT" height="4000" width="5333" msid="92732034" hostid="261" sizebytes="374434"></div>McLaren nailed the steering feel on the car as well. It's smooth, perfectly weighted, and better than most. You'll likely only find better steering in a Lotus <keyword id="14396011" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="race-car" source="Orion">race car</keyword> or track-prepped special. While driving the 765LT, it only tried to bite me once or twice with seemingly little provocation. That is, until I was taking it back to McLaren's headquarters in Woking, Surrey. As I left my house, gently accelerating to the speed limit, the rear decided it would rather be anywhere other than where it was. Had I been too harsh with it? I don't expect so. But a "lesser" McLaren probably wouldn't behave quite like that. <div type="image" title="McLaren 675LT" height="3067" width="4090" msid="92732035" hostid="261" sizebytes="1156724"></div>That brings us to the 765LT Spider's biggest failing, but also its greatest strength: It's meant for a track — or at least a big, wide, warm road with plenty of space. To try and wrangle it in town to show off is a foolish, if fun, endeavor, but less harsh McLarens will be far kinder to regular mortals. The 765LT's ability is beyond almost every road car. It's something truly skilled drivers will make the most out of with ease — and they probably won't do it running to the store for milk.

"Our intent is to keep both of them separate,” President SN Subrahmanyan said at a press conference after the conglomerate, which spans businesses from infrastructure to information technology, bought a controlling stake in the Bengaluru-based Mindtree. This will be the first hostile takeover of an Indian information technology (IT) services firm as Mindtree's founders resisted the takeover by L&amp;T. L&amp;T Infotech, which is the conglomerate's IT subsidiary, has already lost a lot of share value since January when the rumours of the takeover surfaced. Investors <a target="_blank" href="https://www.livemint.com/market/mark-to-market/l-t-infotech-shares-already-carry-scars-of-meddling-with-mindtree-1552842303673.html">fear merging with Mindtree</a>, which has only one large client that is Microsoft, may hurt the performance of L&amp;T Infotech, whose stock price has more than doubled in the last three years and has a <a target="_blank" href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/tech/ites/lt-set-to-seal-mindtree-deal-with-caf-coffee-day-founder-vg-siddhartha/articleshow/68457010.cms">significantly wider profit</a> margin of 16% compared to Mindtree's 10%. However, Subrahmanyan explained that L&amp;T Infotech will continue its existing focus on banking, insurance etc, whereas Mindtree will operate in retail and hospitality. L&amp;T will buy coffee baron VG Siddhartha's20.4% stake in the the mid-tier IT services company Mindtree for approximately ₹3,300 crore. L&amp;T also intends to purchase an additional stake of upto 15% from the open market and another 31% from Mindtree shareholders at ₹980 per share.
