A <keyword id="19903821" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="fire" source="keywords">fire</keyword> broke out on the Korba-<keyword id="19920799" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Visakhapatnam" source="keywords">Visakhapatnam</keyword> Express (18517) train at Visakhapatnam <keyword id="19934815" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="railway-station" source="keywords">railway station</keyword> on Sunday morning, damaging four empty <keyword id="20134692" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="coaches" source="keywords">coaches</keyword>, officials said. The fire, which occurred around 10 am, was quickly extinguished, and there were no casualties or injuries reported. Visakhapatnam Commissioner of Police Shankar Brata Bagchi stated that the train, which had arrived at the station at 6.30 am, was empty when the incident occurred. Bagchi said, "At 6:30 am, the Tirumala Express arrived at the Visakhapatnam railway station. The fire broke out around 10 am. Fortunately, the coaches were empty, so there were no casualties. Local fire services responded immediately." An FIR will be filed, and forensic experts will investigate the cause of the fire, which could be due to a short circuit or another reason. "We are going to lodge a complaint and call in forensic experts to determine the cause. Only after analyzing forensic evidence will we be able to ascertain the cause of the fire. Currently, there are no suspects," Bagchi added. Waltair Division RM Saurabh Prasad noted that the empty rake was scheduled for maintenance at the coaching depot. "At 9:20 a.m., RPF staff noticed smoke from the coach and alerted the fire brigade. The fire was extinguished by 11:10 a.m. The two adjacent coaches were evacuated as per protocol, and the rest were moved to the coaching depot," Prasad said. Speaking to ANI, Prasad said, "This empty rake had to go to the coaching depot for maintenance. It was tabled on the platform here and at 9:20 am, the RPF staff, who had been patrolling the platforms, had noticed a bit of smoke. He immediately alerted the fire brigade and the staff available at the station. They also came in as reinforcements to douse the fire. The fire was doused at 11:10 am. Leaving aside the two adjacent coaches as per protocol, the rest of the rake were immediately evacuated to the coaching depot." He also mentioned that after receiving clearance from the AP fire department, the adjacent coaches were evacuated and taken to the coaching depot for further inspection. "We will conduct a detailed investigation into what led to the fire which started from B7 coach," he added.

Located in the Korba district of <keyword id="19897829" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Chhattisgarh" source="keywords">Chhattisgarh</keyword> state, these two mines produce more 100 million tons of coal annually accounting for about 10 per cent of <keyword id="19895063" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="India" source="keywords">India</keyword>'s total coal production. The Gevra <keyword id="22461528" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="opencast-mine" source="keywords">opencast mine</keyword> has an annual production capacity of 70 million tons and produced 59 million tons of coal in financial year 2023-24. The mine started operations in the year 1981 and it has enough coal reserves to meet the country's <keyword id="21242736" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="energy-requirements" source="keywords">energy requirements</keyword> for the next 10 years. Kusmunda opencast mine produced more than 50 million tons of coal in the financial year 2023-24, only the second mine in India after the Gevra to achieve this feat. These mines have deployed some of the world's largest and most advanced mining machines such as the "Surface Miner" that extracts and cuts coal without blasting for eco-friendly mining operations. For overburden removal (the process of removing layers of soil, stone etc. to expose the coal seam), the mines use some of the world's largest HEMMs (Heavy Earth Moving Machinery) such as 240-ton dumpers, 42 cubic meters Shovel along with Vertical Rippers for environment-friendly and blast-free OB removal. SECL CMD Prem Sagar Mishra said that it is indeed a proud moment for the Chhattisgarh state that two of the world's five largest coal mines are now in the state. Mishra expressed his gratitude towards, Coal Ministry, environment ministry, state government, Coal India, Railways, various stakeholders, and most importantly coal workers who have worked tirelessly to achieve this monumental feat. The coal production which was 382.62 million tons (MT) in the year 2004-05 has grown to 893.19 MT in 2022-23 and was all set to touch 1000 MT in the year 2023-24.

Korba, Apr 21 () Two labourers who were headingtowards their home on foot due to the coronavirus lockdownwere killed after being run over by a freight train inChhattisgarh's Koriya district on Tuesday, police said.The mishap took place around 8 am between Udalkachharand Darritola railway stations under Mandendragarh policestation limits in Koriya.As per preliminary information, the victims, KaleshwarRajwade (21) and Gulab Rajwade (20), along with two otherworkers left from Pendra-Marwahi-Gaurela district on Monday toreach their native villages in Surajpur district, locatedaround 130 km from Pendra, by walking along the rail tracks, apolice official said.All the four men were pursuing training on fertilizermanufacturing in Pendra, but it was suspended after thelockdown came into force last month.As no transport services are available due to travelrestrictions, they decided to walk along the rail route, theofficial said.After an overnight journey, they reached a spotbetween Udalkachhar and Darritola stations on Anuppur-Ambikapur rail line, located around 80 km from Pendra, wherethe two victims sat on the track to have breakfast while thetwo other workers went to get water.The victims failed to notice the goods trainapproaching towards the spot where they were sitting on thetracks and were crushed to death, the official said.The other two workers informed the police about theincident and the bodies were sent for post mortem, he said.An accidental death report was registered and furtherinvestigation was underway, he added.Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel expressed grief over thedeath of the two workers, and instructed the districtauthorities concerned to provide necessary assistance to theirfamilies immediately. New Delhi, Feb 27 () State-owned power giant NTPC on Thursday said it has invited expression of interest (EoI) from interested parties for utilisation of 100 per cent fly ash produced at its various thermal power plants across the country. The fly ash will be procured from NTPC's Vindhyachal, Rihand, Korba and Sipat super thermal power stations. "The NTPC is aiming to utilise 100 per cent fly ash produced at its thermal power plants across the country in 2020-21. Thus the company has now issues EoI for the purpose from interested parties," a company spokesperson said.The ash is proposed to be issued from the Shakurbasti Depot of Central Railside Warehousing Corporation (CRWC) in New Delhi and will be supplied in 40kg bags to interested parties. The bags of fly ash would be sold on price discovered through auction. Initially, the bulk of the transportation would take place from Rihand and Vindhyachal.The company is proactively looking at new avenues of fly ash management. The company has also signed 25 MOUs (memorandum of understanding) for supply of about 260 lakh m3 (cubic metre) of fly ash for road projects. The supply of another 160 lakh m3 ash is under process.In year 2019-20, the NTPC is putting all efforts to achieve an overall ash utilisation of 75 per cent from across its power plants. In 2018-19, 38.8 million tonnes of fly ash for various purposes which constituted 63.71 per cent of total ash produced by the company in the fiscal. The company produces around 61 million tonnes of fly ash every year at its thermal power plants. Further, ash parks / depots have been established in Varanasi and Rewa, while same at Raipur, Bhubaneshwar and Pune are under process. R&amp;D efforts are being fortified to make sure that fly ash is utilised in new ways.
