SpiceJet promoter <keyword id="6357826" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="ajay-singh" source="Orion">Ajay Singh</keyword> holds a stake of around 60 per cent in the budget carrier. Sources said a big Middle Eastern airline has expressed interest to pick a 24 per cent stake and a board seat in SpiceJet. A big Indian business conglomerate has also approached Singh for a stake in the airline. Reacting to the development, a <keyword id="1002649" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="spicejet-spokesperson" source="Orion">SpiceJet Spokesperson</keyword> said, "The company continues to be in discussions with various investors to secure sustainable financing and will make appropriate disclosures in accordance with applicable regulations." Earlier, on Tuesday, SpiceJet said that it entered into a full and final settlement with the <keyword id="54875" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="airports-authority-of-india" source="Orion">Airports Authority of India</keyword> (<keyword id="47439" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="aai" source="Orion">AAI</keyword>) and has cleared all outstanding principal dues of the airport operator. "In another big boost for the airline, AAI will release SpiceJet's Rs 50 crore bank guarantee following the airline clearing all its principal dues. This will result in additional liquidity for the airline," said the airline. SpiceJet has flown with the highest passenger load factor in the Indian skies for a record seven years. Starting April 2015, the airlines has recorded the highest occupancy among all Indian domestic airlines - a feat unparalleled in global aviation. The airline also holds the envious distinction of having flown with a Passenger Load Factor (PLF) of more than 90 per cent for a record 58 consecutive months. The airline's domestic network covers the length and breadth of the country with it operating to 51 domestic destinations. <ul><li><keyword id="736512" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Postpartum-depression" source="Orion">Postpartum depression</keyword> has become more common among Indian mothers with the incidence rate rising sharply after the first Covid-19 lockdown, say doctors. </li><li>According to a report by <keyword id="6265175" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mariwala-Health-Initiative" source="Orion">Mariwala Health Initiative</keyword>, 10-30% of mothers from developing countries like India will suffer from <keyword id="2762038" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Prenatal-depression" source="Orion">prenatal depression</keyword>. </li><li>Postpartum <keyword id="6354802" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="depression" source="Orion">depression</keyword> can not only affect the relationship between a mother and a child but also create physical health problems for the latter.</li></ul>Drishya Jain, a resident of a city named Kishangarh located near Ajmer, Rajasthan and a mother of a 3-year-old, enjoyed her pregnancy in 2019 but soon after she had her baby, she not only witnessed a massive change in her behaviour but that of her family towards herself as well. “Before pregnancy, everyone takes care of you because you have a life inside you. But after the delivery, all the attention is given to the baby and not the mother,” Jain told Business Insider India. Mothers often go through a massive change not only physically but also mentally and emotionally. They are found to be the most vulnerable and prone to mental health problems during this crucial period. “The period after delivery was more difficult than the pregnancy because you’re not only taking care of your baby but also adjusting with your body that has gone through a massive change and this was very exhausting everyday as we’re in a figuring-out stage where we don’t know how to deal with the baby stuff,” Jain added. Often these mood swings and decreased sleep are regarded as postpartum blues, which most women face after their pregnancy – generally they go away in a few weeks. However, these symptoms can also escalate and become a serious issue leading to postpartum depression. “The symptoms of postpartum depression last longer and are more severe and (postpartum depression) could present itself as a continuation of antenatal depression,” Dr Shamantha K, Counselling Psychologist, Fortis Hospital, Bangalore told Business Insider India. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Lockdowns and postpartum depression" comment="subhead" text="Lockdowns and postpartum depression">Lockdowns and postpartum depression</cmsannotation> Sadly, postpartum depression has become more common among Indian mothers, with the incidence rate rising sharply after the first Covid-19 lockdown, say doctors. “Almost half the women with newborn babies were said to meet the criteria for postnatal depression during the first lockdown, which is nearly double the rate of incidence compared to the pre-pandemic era,” Dr Shamantha said. According to a report ‘<keyword id="9407204" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mental-Health-Matters" source="Orion">Mental Health Matters</keyword>’ released last week by Mariwala Health Initiative – which provides grants and strategic support to organisations working in the mental health space – 10-30% of mothers from developing countries like India will suffer from prenatal depression. Intense mood swings with depressed mood dominating, crying spells, social isolation, difficulty in establishing a bond with the newborn, disturbances in sleep and appetite, low zeal and energy, apathy towards day-to-day life schedules, low interest in the baby, intense thoughts of hurting the baby and thoughts of self harm — these are some of the common symptoms of postpartum depression. Surprisingly, mental health problems after pregnancy can be genetic as well. “Causes can be genetic where there is a probable family history of the same. Physical and hormonal changes in the mother's body post childbirth also contribute to this. Emotional concerns of the mother and underlying stress can also aggravate it,” said Dr Rituparna Ghosh, consultant, psychology, Apollo Hospitals, Navi Mumbai. Mothers aged between 25-34 years are prone to postpartum depression, say doctors. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="How does a mother’s bad mental health affect the baby?" comment="subhead" text="How does a mother’s bad mental health affect the baby?">How does a mother’s bad mental health affect the baby?</cmsannotation> Doctors say that children of mothers who undergo postpartum depression are likely to develop behavioural concerns, anxiety and separation fear issues besides having academic challenges. “It may also lead to insecurity and developmental and behavioural issues in children with emotional disturbances,” Dr Ghosh added. Postpartum depression can not only affect the relationship between a mother and a child, it can also create physical health problems for the latter. Doctors say that it can affect the infant’s growth and development. “In developing countries like India, they are at a greater risk of being stunted and underweight. They may also not be breastfed and (the mothers may not) seek health care as much as they should leading to other problems. People of the lower strata are at a bigger risk of their children facing adverse psychological problems,” Dr Shamantha said. Postpartum depression is a treatable condition and can be cured with the help of doctors and medications (in some cases). “It can be prevented by talking about it to your medical team, being active, getting ample rest, maintaining a healthy diet, seeking breastfeeding support, asking for help, taking time to connect to one’s body, learning about the signs and symptoms and talking to other mothers to educate yourself,” Dr Shamantha explained. It is also very important for mothers to stay proactive and to lead a healthy lifestyle during and after pregnancy. “Do not make big and major life changes during and immediately post pregnancy, prepare yourself on a positive note before childbirth, share and seek help,” Dr Ghosh further added. Postpartum depression in mothers can have serious consequences on the child’s health and development

New Delhi, Jun 3 () A 30-year-old pilot of a private airlines was allegedly attacked and robbed at gunpoint by unidentified men on the IIT Delhi flyover here in the early hours of Wednesday, police said. The incident took place around 1 am when the pilot was on his way to the Indira Gandhi International Airport from Faridabad in his office cab as he had to catch a 3 am flight from Delhi to Mumbai, they said. Three unidentified masked men intercepted the car and robbed the man of his wallet containing Rs 10,000 cash and cards, the police said. In his complaint, the pilot stated that the car was intercepted by the men who were on two-wheelers. They smashed the windows and while one of them pointed a pistol at him, another poked him with a knife on his thigh. He said they demanded money so he gave away his wallet. Devender Arya, DCP (Southwest), said a case of robbery has been registered at the Kishangarh police station. Efforts were on to trace the culprits, the police added. AMP IJT

Only 27 bank branches will remain open in Chandigarh as Coronavirus curfew restrictions ease

Amid the nationwide lokdown, villages in the national capital have appealed to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for relief from paying electricity bills as they are devoid of any income. Shahpur Jat village association, in its letter to Kejriwal dated April 30, demanded withdrawal of power bills of <keyword id="6363285" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="commercial-establishments">commercial establishments</keyword> and announcement of additional subsidy for residential units in and around villages. The village society said even though almost all commercial units in <keyword id="66" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Delhi">Delhi</keyword> are shut, the electricity companies are sending provision bills to residents of Shahpur Jat, Munirka, Ber Sarai, Kishangarh, Mehrauli and others. "How can the electricity companies be allowed to issue bills when there is no consumption of electricity for more than a month? It is a fact that these units have not been able to carry out any business and therefore they should not be compelled to pay any electricity charge for the lockdown period," the letter to the Chief Minister said. "In view of the prevalent circumstances, we demand that for the residential units located in village areas (both urban and rural) of Delhi, the government should provide 50 per cent rebate on electricity bills during the lockdown period, over and above the current rebates/subsidy," it said. Shahpur Jat Society has also demanded the power discoms to not issue bills during the lockdown period. Speaking to IANS, Shahpur village RWA association executive member Aman Panwar said, "On the one hand the government is asking us to not seek rent and on the other we are receiving power bills for commercial and residential units through SMS." He said that about 95 per cent of the people in the village are dependent on the rents from their commercial units or tenants. "And when the owner asks for rent from the tenants, police is being called, while in case of commercial units the people are receiving hefty bills as fixed charges despite shops being closed for last 40 days," he added. Anil Gianchandani, the secretary of Delhi Gramin Samaj also backed the demands of the Shahpur Jat and said, "Since lockdown, income from residential units has depleted as the government has asked owners to refrain from seeking rent from tenants." Gianchandani said his organisation 'Delhi Gramin Samaj' too has written to Kejriwal, seeking relief to inhabitants of nearly 380 villages (mostly urbanised) in the national capital. "We have demanded from the government the withdrawal of commercial bills and 50 per cent rebate in billed amount for residential units during the lockdown period," he added. The government has extended the lockdown for two more weeks till May 17.

Delhi villages demand withdrawal of power bills for commercial establishments amid lockdown

By Namita Tewari New Delhi, Apr 19 () Turning the COVID-19 lockdown into an "opportunity", highways regulator NHAI is working on a war footing to resolve disputes worth a staggering Rs 80,000 crore, besides reviewing projects to expedite work. "During this lockdown period, we are holding five to seven video conferences every day to find resolution to disputes through reconciliation to be ready with all the ground work. "Normally what would take months together has been done during the lockdown," NHAI Chairman S S Sandhu, who was on an inspection of the Delhi-Meerut Expressway project when contacted him, said. Sandhu and other top brass of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) have been on an inspection spree of projects, taking the benefit of no traffic on otherwise congested highways. NHAI, an official said, has at least 180 cases in arbitration involving a sum of about Rs 80,000 crore. Sandhu told that as a result of intensive meetings, NHAI is in a position to place all matters before the reconciliation committees for speedy disposal of disputes. "Next week we are likely to take up the matters, work on which have been done, with the conciliation committees for final dispute redressal processes," Sandhu said. He said the exact number of cases for which work has been done cannot be assessed at the moment as multiple officials are working on different projects and the compilation will be done soon. Out of the 180 cases involving about Rs 80,000 crore, the officials are currently working on 86 cases worth about Rs 31,000 crore, a source said. "Work is almost complete on 33 cases with a solid ground ready for disposal of these by the reconciliation committees. These involve a sum of Rs 12,356 crore," the source added. Work is going on a war footing in other 43 cases involving a sum of Rs 20,000 crore, he added. The projects under arbitration include Delhi-Agra highway section, Kishangarh-Udaipur road and Chenani-Nashri project, the official said. The highways builders involved in these projects include ILFS Transportation, Madhucon, Gammon, HCC and Gayatri Projects, among others. The official said once the conciliation happens, the NHAI payout will be much lesser than the amount projected now as arbitration is a long-drawn process where payout is about 25 per cent but in conciliation, whatever amount is finalised is paid immediately. Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has asked the ministry and NHAI officials to convert the coronavirus "crisis into opportunity". Preparations are afoot to re-start work on highway projects expeditiously in association with the states, while following the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs. Gadkari told : "I have asked NHAI to resolve all cases in three months span." The NHAI has achieved record 3,979 kms of highways construction in 2019-20. Ajmer, the quintessential Rajasthan city, has decided to put hygiene as a top priority in its agenda, for which it has launched the 'Sanitary Napkins Vending Machine', at 'Janana hospital'. 
 
In the coming future, about 70 such machines will be placed at various places including jails, bus stand, polytechnic colleges, schools and other area, thus making Ajmer the first Indian city to have these machines in a huge quantity. 
 
"In view of the stigma and social taboo associated with sanitary napkins, majority of the girls/women, feel embarrassed and hesitate to go to the commonly known outlets for sanitary napkins, manned and often crowded by men, resulting in unsafe practices, and use of unhygienic materials during menstrual periods. Thus, vending machine would be a good solution," said District collector Gaurav Goyal. 
 
"We have ordered for 70 such machines in total which would be installed at girl's colleges, schools, Women Polytechnic College, Jail and other parts of the district. More such machines would be installed at Beawar, Kishangarh and Naseerabad areas," Goyal added, thus hinting at his plans to cover the whole district. 
 
These machines, manufactured by Hindustan Lifecare Limited (formerly known as Hindustan Latex Limited), a government of India initiative, require the user to insert Rs 10, after which they would get 3 sanitary napkins. 
 
Not only this, ‘Sanitary Napkin Incinerators’ are also to be attached with these vending machines to solve the problem of disposal of safe napkins.

Ajmer becomes the first Indian city to launch vending machines for sanitary napkins at huge scale

Prime Minister Modi has talked about improving air connectivity in the country, a step that would require a total of 200 additional airports in the distant future. For this purpose, Airports Authority of India (AAI), the force behind the country’s civil aviation infrastructure has plans of functionalise almost 50 airports over the next 10 years. 
 
For identifying the airports that need to be operationalised in tier 2 and tier 3 cities across the country, Indian government has constituted an inter-ministerial task force. "In order to meet the objective of inclusive growth, the government plans to enhance regional and remote connectivity in a time-bound manner. To augment air connectivity throughout India, more than 200 operational airports are required," RK Srivastava, who serves as the chairman of AAI, told ET. 
 
Srivastava also stated that lastyear, the authority was given a go-ahead to develop five airports at Kishangarh, Belgaum, Hubli, Jharusuguda and Tezu, and work is under process for the same. In the next 10 years, at least 50 additional airports would be functionalised. Presently, we have almost 450 airports and airstrips, which are spread across the length and breadth of the country. However, merely 125 of these are operational, while the rest remain unused for one or the other reason.

50 new airports coming up in India in the
next 10 yrs!

The plan of building 50 new airports in different cities may take a backseat as the <keyword id="58151" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="civil-aviation-ministry">Civil Aviation Ministry</keyword> has decided they will be built if they earn return on investment (RoI) of 12%. 
 
The previous Congress party-led Government had earmarked small cities for 50 low cost or no-frills airports. 
 
However, the finance department of the ministry said that the plan will be viable if it gets 12% RoI. 
 
"This will be difficult to achieve for all no-frills airport we have planned. We have told them we cannot build all 50 airports planned with 12% RoI aim - maybe 60% of them can be build, but we need to build the rest 40% too," a top official in the ministry told Economic Times on the condition of anonymity. 
 
Industry experts welcomed the move, saying that many airports are operating without any reason. 
 “Since no airline can be forced to fly to such locations, these airports become an unnecessary white elephant on the books of AAI (<keyword id="54875" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Airports-Authority-of-India">Airports Authority of India</keyword>) or the state government," Amber Dubey, partner &amp; India head (aerospace and defence), KPMG, told the financial daily. 
 
He added that if there was any shortfall in revenues of airport built on the basis of a strategic or social rationale for connectivity, it has be covered under the viability gap funding (VGF) scheme. 
 
Meanwhile, the present Narendra Modi-led Government has begun working on five airports in Hubbali, Belagavi, Kishangarh, Jharsuguda and Tezu.

In a bid to expand its connectivity, the Airport Authority of India (<keyword id="47439" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Aai">AAI</keyword>) will be marketing 29 airports in the country to international airlines participating in <keyword id="2530577" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="World-Route-Development-Forum">World Route Development Forum</keyword> that is being held in Chicago between 20th and 23rd September. 
	 
	The airports that AAI plans to develop, in order to market among the international airlines, include both domestic and international airports. These airports include Amritsar, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Lucknow, Leh, Srinagar, Varanasi (Banaras), Bhubaneswar, Gaya, Kolkata, Port Blair, Ranchi, Raipur, Guwahati, Ahmedabad, Aurangabad, Bhopal, Indore, Goa, Pune, Surat, Chennai, Coimbatore, Calicut, Madurai, Mangalore, Trivandrum, Trichy and Visakhapatnam. 
	 
	The apex body of airports has held one-on-one meetings with the carriers and has an exclusive stand at the forum. “The airport-specific brochures brought out by AAI on the occasion included salient features of the airports, catchment areas they belong to, aerodrome reference code, tourist attractions and aviation and tourism potential,” said the ministry in a statement. 
	 
	The ministry added that AAI plans to come up with no-frills airports to enhance air connectivity as well as facilitate availability of infrastructure in the sector, which will ensure smooth air operations across airports in the country. 
	 
	“Government of India is focusing and pushing for development of airport infrastructure in tier-III cities. AAI will have to play a key role in implementation and execution of no-frill airports in the country. As per the estimates, about 50 such airports are on the anvil. The five airports included in Phase-I are Tezu in Arunachal Pradesh, Jharsuguda in Odisha, Hubli and Belgaum in Karnataka and Kishangarh in Rajasthan,” added the ministry. 
	 
	The apex body has been participating World Route Development Forum for the past six years. AAI has 125 airports which consist of 21 international airports domestic airports, 7 customs airports (4 civil enclaves) and 19 other civil enclaves. Among the international airports, AAI has 3 civil enclaves and 3 joint ventures. 
	 
	Currently, Indian airports, on the domestic front, handle nearly 122 million passengers while 47 million international passengers. The airports expected to handle 217 million domestic and 76 million international passengers by 2020.
