New Delhi, Automaker Kia India on Thursday said it will increase prices of Seltos and Carens by up to 2 per cent from October 1, according to a senior company official. However, the company will not hike the prices of its entry-level model Sonet. "We are looking to take about a 2 per cent price increase on Seltos and Carens from October 1," Kia India National Head (Sales and Marketing) Hardeep S Brar told PTI. The company had last hiked prices in April this year as it upgraded its portfolio to conform to Real Driving Emission (RDE) norms, he said. "While many of the companies have already taken the price increase post-April, we, however, did not take...besides the raw material prices are going up.. and we introduced the new Seltos and a lot of investment has gone into the product..so we think it is time that we take the price increase," Brar said. Kia India also sells an electric model EV6 in the country.

In a statement, <keyword id="109790" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kia-Motors">Kia Motors</keyword> India - a wholly owned subsidiary of <keyword id="1055815" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kia-Motors-Corporation">Kia Motors Corporation</keyword> of South Korea - said: "This record booking number affirms its status as a game-changer by customers in the highly competitive compact SUV category. This milestone figure was attained within two months of opening of bookings on August 20, 2020." Kia Motors said that last month 9,266 units of the Sonet were dispatched, making it the leader of the compact SUV segment within 12 days of its price announcement and market launch. Curiously, the announcement comes on the day when Japan's Nissan Motor Corporation world premiered its new compact sports utility vehicle (SUV) Magnite and said it would be made in India for Indian and the global market. The Magnite will soon be fighting against Sonet, Hyundai Motor's Venue and others in the Indian market. Kia Sonet gets over 50,000 bookings in just 2 months

Greater Noida, Feb 5 () South Korean auto maker Kia Motors on Wednesday launched its premium multi purpose vehicle Carnival, and showcased a new concept for a global SUV Sonet at the Auto Expo here. Carnival is being launched in India in three different specifications at a starting price of Rs 24.95 lakh for its Premium variant (ex-showroom), Rs 28.95 lakh for its Prestige variant (ex-showroom), and Rs 33.95 lakh for its Limousine variant (ex-showroom). Kia Sonet concept will be developed further ahead of a launch in the Indian market in the second half of 2020. Kia Motors India said it had received more than 1,400 bookings for the new car on the first day of orders and has a total of more than 3,500 bookings received till date. Kia had entered the Indian market with its SUV Seltos, which was displayed as SP Concept in the previous edition of the Auto Expo in 2018. Commenting on the India journey, Kia Motors India MD and CEO Kookhyun Shim said: "We have sought to understand Indian customers' aspirations, and match them with best-in-class products and services." He further said, "Our latest vehicle, Kia Carnival, is a clear example of this approach. Though it represents a leap up from the Seltos, into a premium, aspirational segment, it has been devised with the same passion." Shim further said, "As the Indian market evolves, we will continue to offer customers here the best and most innovative products and services." Kia Sonet concept is a compact SUV which will take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki's Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue and Ford Ecosport. Kia Motors said the vehicle will be launched in India in the second half of 2020. Carnival, on the other hand, looks to enter a segment dominated by Toyota's Innova Crystal. It is powered by a 2.2-liter VGT BS6 diesel engine, paired with an eight-speed "Sportsmatic" transmission. Between the end of 2017 and March 2020, the SMID indices were down more than 40% relative to the equity benchmark Sensex due to various reasons such as growth deceleration and relative valuations. “The COVID-19 related lockdown did not help matters but has marked a floor on the cohort’s relative performance as a forward-looking stock market is possibly anticipating better growth. With monetary aggregates normalizing and significant policy action underway with a corporate tax cut last September, we think growth is set to turn,” the report said. <keyword id="19894961" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="apple" source="keywords">Apple</keyword> on Wednesday announced to expand its footprint in <keyword id="19895063" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="india" source="keywords">India</keyword> with opening a new office in the heart of Bengaluru, as the <keyword id="19912026" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="iphone" source="keywords">iPhone</keyword> maker cements its position in the country with ramping up local manufacturing. Located at Minsk Square which is the key location in the city, the new office will house up to 1,200 employees. It comprises of 15 floors and features dedicated lab space, areas for collaboration and wellness, and <keyword id="20221613" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="caffe-macs" source="keywords">Caffe Macs</keyword>. "Bengaluru is already home to so many of our talented teams, including software engineering and hardware technologies, operations, customer support, and more," an Apple spokesperson told IANS. "Like everything we do at Apple, this workspace is created to foster innovation, creativity, and connection. It's an amazing space for our teams to collaborate," the company spokesperson added. The interiors feature locally-sourced materials, including stone, wood, and fabric in the walls and flooring, and the office is filled with native plants. The new office uses best practices in energy conservation, will run on 100 per cent renewable energy, and aims to achieve a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum rating - the highest level of LEED certification. Apple has been carbon neutral for its corporate operations since 2020, and has run all Apple facilities using 100 percent renewable energy since 2018. The office is the latest addition to the company's corporate office footprint in Bengaluru, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Gurugram, and represents another important milestone in Apple's more than 25 year history in the country. Apple has nearly 3,000 employees in India and the work with Indian suppliers of all sizes supports hundreds of thousands of jobs across the country. The company works with partners across India that are advancing critical work to protect the environment and expand access to education and employment, including <keyword id="20222084" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="frank-water" source="keywords">Frank Water</keyword>, which helps empower communities to protect their own watersheds on the outskirts of Bengaluru. Apple's teams in Bengaluru work across a wide range of Apple's business - from software, hardware, services, IS&amp;T, operations, customer support, and others. As India doubles down on local manufacturing, Apple assembled iPhones worth more than Rs 1 lakh crore in India in 2023, according to industry data. However, according to industry sources, the actual market value of the iPhones manufactured/assembled in India could be much higher, depending on taxes in other countries. <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword>'s wearable market shipped a record 48.1 million units in the third quarter this year, a 29.2 per cent year-over-year (YoY) growth, a new report showed on Wednesday. Apart from the new smartwatch and earwear models, smart rings became prominent in the third quarter, according to the data from International Data Corporation (IDC). The smart ring category is generating a lot of interest from consumers, particularly due to the interesting form factor and several launches in the past few months. "Smart rings add novelty to the wearable device space, with brands trying to position it as a fashion accessory and a non-intrusive health device. While currently there are very few models, we can expect more mainstream brands launching more affordable options next year," said <keyword id="3886166" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="upasana-joshi" source="Orion">Upasana Joshi</keyword>, Research Manager, Client Devices, IDC India. Ultrahuman led the smart ring category with an impressive 75.5 per cent market share, followed by <keyword id="19504357" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="pi-ring" source="Orion">Pi Ring</keyword> at 10.9 per cent, and boAt (<keyword id="6494266" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="imagine-marketing" source="Orion">Imagine Marketing</keyword>) with an 8.2 per cent market share in the third quarter. Overall, the domestic wearable market shipped 105.9 million units in the first three quarters of 2023, which is more than 100.1 million units shipped in 2022. The overall average selling price (ASPs) declined by 20.4 per cent from $27.2 to $21.7. "Brands have upped the game with high-end specifications at entry-level pricing. This combined with high-decibel marketing campaigns and promotions will drive Q4 shipments, resulting in strong double digit annual growth in 2023," said <keyword id="218502" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="vikas-sharma" source="Orion">Vikas Sharma</keyword>, senior market analyst, <keyword id="1531471" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="wearable-devices" source="Orion">Wearable Devices</keyword>, IDC India. boAt (Imagine Marketing) continued to dominate the overall wearable market with 29.7 per cent share, growing by 19.4 per cent. In <keyword id="5617680" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="tws" source="Orion">TWS</keyword> too, it maintained leadership with 37.9 per cent share, 33.3 per cent growth YoY. It stood third in the smartwatch category with 14.2 per cent market share. Noise (Nexxbase) stood second in overall wearables with 10.8 per cent share and flat 0.6 per cent YoY shipment growth. It dropped to second in the smartwatch category with 20.7 per cent market share and maintained its fourth position in the TWS segment at 7.7 per cent share, growing by 20.4 per cent YoY, the report mentioned. Smartwatches remained the fastest growing category with 16.9 million units, growing by 41 per cent YoY as incumbent vendors shipped aggressively to stock for the upcoming festive season. Within wearables, the share of earwear dropped to 64.4 per cent from 67.3 per cent a year ago, but shipments still grew 23.6 per cent to 30.9 million units, according to the report.
