Manohar Lal Khattar wins his constituency but is hanging on to Haryana by a thread

The next bust he saw during his ten years residence in the states was the financial crisis in 2008. This entrepreneur cum investor's first startup was with a professor from <keyword id="33081" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Stanford">Stanford</keyword>, and they managed to raise $ 1 million from small investors but it failed because it was technology ahead of its time as the use-case very small. 

 

Learning from that experience for Khattar was that good technology needs to be timed well to be able to succeed and the importance of product-market fit. “You learn more from your successes than your failures,” says the effervescent Khattar who believes in adding new skills every five years.

Khattar moved to LA next in 2001 where he finally found some success with a pharma company where again, he took charge of the business side of things. In 2005, the company was sold and Khattar saw his first successful exit as an entrepreneur. For Khattar, two things mattered at every point in his career, one that he was interested in what he was doing and rising from the chaos of a startup to find learning, whether it is successful or not. Starting up with Investing His journey in investing started with the New York-based firm who had acquired his company, called Aptuit Inc which had a $700 mn corpus. Khattar proved instrumental for the privately held firm where he had lead strategic investments at a $100 million valuation. His homecoming started when he decided to put his investing lens over India and his father, Jagdish Khattar quit Maruti. Encouraging his father to start up, the two Khattars started Carnation in 2009 and have not looked back since.

Thalassemia patients to get ₹ 2,500 per month in Haryana

New Delhi, Dec 24 () Hours after being booked by the CBI over alleged loan fraud, Maruti Suzuki's flamboyant ex-chief Jagdish Khattar on Tuesday said that an exhaustive independent forensic audit at the behest of the bankers did not find any wrongdoings in the functioning of Carnation Auto, which he had created post retirement. 
 Khattar, who has been booked by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for an alleged bank loan fraud of Rs 110 crore, said no lapses in operations or financial management were found in the company by the investigating audit authorities and expressed hope that he will be vindicated once the probe is over.
 "Post its (Carnation Auto) failure as a business, an exhaustive and detailed independent forensic audit at the behest of the bankers under the resolution professional was conducted by a leading independent auditor and nothing was found amiss," Khattar said in a statement.
 Having found no lapses in operations or financial management, the bank (Punjab National Bank) has referred the matter to the CBI as part of the process followed by them, he added.
 Khattar was with Maruti Udyog Limited from 1993 to 2007 when he retired as Managing Director of the company.
 After retirement he had launched Carnation for which he got a loan of Rs 170 crore in 2009. The loan was declared non performing asset in 2015 with effect from 2012, the FIR said.
 The agency has registered an FIR under IPC sections related to criminal conspiracy and cheating on a complaint from Punjab National Bank.
 Khattar said he had invested his life savings in the company.
 "I understand the bank is following a process. I have always made myself available and will continue to fully cooperate with all the agencies. The claims being made were examined in great detail during the forensic audit and we provided satisfactory replies on each," he said.
 Khattar further said: "We were cleared in the forensic audit on each count. I have no doubt we will be vindicated again once the investigation is completed."
 Carnation Auto was a first mover to create an open multi-brand auto solutions platform for customers whose cars were outside warranty period and who felt pinched by high maintenance costs. 
 It unfortunately became a bonafide business failure on account of many reasons including cartelisation by auto majors by non-supply of genuine parts, Khattar said.
 Carnation was a board managed company with the highest ethical standards and best management practices, he added.
 "Some of the most reputed investors in the country including Premji Invest and Gaja Capital were board members who, in their own interest, kept a tight vigil on its operations and finances," Khattar said.
 Each financial decision was based on comprehensive business plans and approvals and the company was finally sold to Mahindra Group, he added.
 The CBI has alleged that Khattar and his company dishonestly and fraudulently sold the goods hypothecated to the bank without its permission and diverted the funds thereby causing criminal breach of trust and cheating that caused wrongful loss to the bank and gain to Khattar and his company.
 The bank had conducted a forensic audit which showed that fixed assets to the tune of Rs 66.92 crore were sold for a consideration amount of Rs 4.55 crore without its approval, they said.
 It is also alleged that sale proceeds were not deposited with the bank and Khattar had dishonestly and fraudulently extended loans and advances to its sister concern/subsidiaries also. 
 The bank officials allegedly did not do mandatory monthly verification of stock 
and cross check the debtors/creditors, the FIR said adding role of bank officials will be under scanner.
 The bank had mentioned five accused persons in its complaint including three guarantor companies-- Khattar Auto India Pvt Ltd, Carnation Realty Pvt Ltd and Carnation Insurance Broking Company Pvt Ltd but their direct role did not surface during the verification exercise. MSS ANZ MKJ

(have) made up their mind to explore other destinations," Khattar said Saturday evening in a televised address to the people of the state about COVID-19 situation."As per our information, 1,000 investors are those who want to take out their investments from China and go to other countries. We are in touch with them. COVID-19: Khattar says Haryana 'in touch with investors' looking to pull out of China

New Delhi, Nov 25 () Realty major DLF's arm will invest around Rs 1,500 crore in the next two years on construction of over 3 million sq ft office space in Gurugram, Haryana to tap into growing demand for commercial properties from corporates and co-working players.
 DLF Cyber City Developers Ltd (DCCDL), a joint venture between DLF and Singapore's sovereign wealth fund GIC, has initiated the development of its new mixed-use project 'Downtown' comprising 11 million sq ft of leasing area. DLF has 67 per cent stake in the DCCDL, while GIC has the rest.
 "We are developing 3.2 million sq ft office space in the first phase of this new project, located on national highway and adjacent to DLF Cyber City project," DLF's Managing Director (Rental business) Sriram Khattar told .
 To begin with, he said the company has started construction work on two identical buildings of 7.5 lakh sq ft each.
 "We are constructing these two buildings on steel structure with no basement for faster execution. The target is to complete by end of the next year," he said.
 The construction work on the remaining 1.7 million sq ft will start soon and get completed by end of 2021, Khattar added.
 "There is a huge demand for office space in Gurugram from corporates as well as co-working operators. Our commercial buildings in Gurugram are almost completely occupied. Therefore, we have started this new project to cater to the growing demand," Khattar said.
 DCCDL has already started leasing space in this project and is expecting a rental of around Rs 120-125 per sq ft per month.
 Asked about project cost, Khattar said the construction cost is estimated to be around Rs 5,000 per sq ft.
 The DCCDL has started planning for the remaining 8 million sq ft development in the 'Downtown' project.
 Talking about other projects, Khattar said the DCCDL has completely leased its commercial project Cyber Park in Gurugram comprising 2.5 million sq ft area. It expects to earn a rental of about Rs 375 crore annually.
 The 12-acre project 'Cyber Park' has been developed at an estimated cost of about Rs 1,500 crore.
 The DCCDL currently has a rental portfolio of over 30 million sq ft with an annual rental income of over Rs 3,000 crore. It is currently developing 6.6 million sq ft projects across the country.
 DLF has developed around 153 real estate projects and an area of about 330 million square feet. It currently has 221 million sq ft of development potential across residential and commercial segment. MJH SHW

DLF to invest Rs 1500 cr on new commercial project in Gurugram

Rapid Action Force personnel conducted a flag march in <keyword id="11900977" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="gurugram" source="Orion">Gurugram</keyword>'s Badshahpur early on Wednesday, morning following the clashes that broke out in Nuh district of the State. Security has been strengthened in the districts adjoining Nuh -- Faridabad, Palwal, and Gurugram-- in light of the violence that broke out between two groups on July 31. Section 144 has been imposed for 48 hours from Monday midnight in Nuh and mobile internet services have been temporarily suspended in the district. On Tuesday, fresh violence was reported from Gurugram in Badshahpur and on Sohna road. Assistant Commissioner of Police Varun Dahiya (Crime), Gurugram said today, "All schools, colleges and workplaces are functioning normally. There are no restrictions on the movement of traffic. The internet is also operational. I appeal to all to not pay heed to rumours on social media. Curfew has also been imposed in Nuh and Section 144 has been imposed in some places. Chief minister Khattar informed that around 44 FIRs have been registered and 70 people have been taken into custody. Khattar also appealed to locals to maintain peace. Sixteen companies of central forces and 20 of the <keyword id="41669" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="haryana-police" source="Orion">Haryana Police</keyword> have been deployed in Nuh. Deputy Commissioner Nishant Yadav on Tuesday said that situation was totally under control and normalcy has been restored and markets have opened. "In Gurugram, the situation is totally under control, Sohna was our main focus area, a peace committee meeting has taken place there, normalcy restored and markets have opened. We have conducted a flag march as well," the Deputy Commissioner Yadav said. He further said, "In Gurugram one death was reported in Sector 57 mosque, 5 vehicles were torched in Sohna and two to three shops have been vandalised". (ANI)
