<keyword id="14666" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="BJP">BJP</keyword> has expelled 12 party leaders and served show cause notices to two others for allegedly attacking its MP <keyword id="6364207" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Keshav-Prasad-Maurya">Keshav Prasad Maurya</keyword>. "Show cause notices have been served to former MLA <keyword id="3202713" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ram-Iqbal-Singh">Ram Iqbal Singh</keyword> and <keyword id="3202968" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Babban-Singh-Raghuvanshi">Babban Singh Raghuvanshi</keyword> while 12 leaders have been expelled from the party by state president Laxmikant Bajpai," a senior party leader said here. The action was taken for anti-party activities after the leaders allegedly attacked party MP Maurya on January 4 when he was here for <keyword id="1194839" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="organisational-elections">organisational elections</keyword>, he said. 

	Those expelled included two district vice presidents, a district secretary besides others. 
 

	On January 4, when the MP visited the district BJP office for organisational elections, these party men allegedly attacked him and also damaged his vehicle. 
 

	The MP did not file an FIR in this connection but had said that he would raise the matter before party leadership and had written a letter to state BJP president for disciplinary action against those involved in the act.

BJP expels 12 party leaders for 'attacking' MP Keshav Prasad Maurya

Lucknow, Feb 1 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya welcomed the Union Budget presented by Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday, terming it as "wonderful". In a tweet in Hindi, Maurya said, "The Budget of the Modi government, which was presented, is wonderful, and (we) welcome it. The Budget is dedicated to the poor, farmers and youth. Additional arrangements made for road construction indicates development-oriented thought process." "The people of Uttar Pradesh have got maximum benefit of the Budget because of the double-engine government, and they will get it," he said. However, Lucknow-based senior tax lawyer Ashish Kumar Tripathi said the Budget offered no relief to the salaried and middle classes even in times of pandemic as there were pay cuts and spiralling inflation, which hit these sections the most. "The Union Finance Minister has betrayed India's salaried class. The Prime Minister and Union Finance Minister have deeply disappointed them in direct tax measures and there is no change in the income tax slab," Tripathi said. Belying expectations, Finance Minister Sitharaman did not tinker with the personal income tax rates in the Budget for 2022-23. The minister also did not raise standard deduction, which was widely anticipated in view of elevated inflation levels and impact of the pandemic on the middle class. The screening of the movie was held at Lok Bhawan here, and Bollywood star <keyword id="2823" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="akshay-kumar" source="Orion">Akshay Kumar</keyword>, female lead Manushi Chillar and director Chandra Prakash <keyword id="11068" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="dwivedi" source="Orion">Dwivedi</keyword> were in attendance. "I announce that the movie will be tax-free in the state," the chief minister said. Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, in a dig at the Adityanath government, said the state cabinet should also look at the present condition of Uttar Pradesh. "After watching the historical film, the cabinet is requested to also see the present condition of Uttar Pradesh," he said in a tweet in Hindi. He added that the "dough of the past" cannot be used to make rotis in the present. Deputy CM Maurya said earlier, films were made on Mughals, but now films on such great personalities are made. "In the past, there were attempts to hide the truth (of history). But it is necessary to know the past," he asserted. "Samrat Prithviraj", which is all set to release in theatres countrywide on June 3, depicts the life of legendary warrior king Prithviraj Chauhan, played by Akshay Kumar. Chillar stars in the movie as Princess Sanyogita. Akshay had said that the film was based on the life and daredevilry of the "last Hindu Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan who shed every drop of blood in his body to defend Bharatmata". "Our film salutes the courage and valour of the mighty king and we hope that the people of our nation are inspired by his values of protecting his motherland at any cost," the actor had said, according to a press release. On Tuesday, the team held a screening of the film for Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The movie also stars Sanjay Dutt and Sonu Sood in pivotal roles. A Yash Raj Films production, the movie is scheduled to be released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Akshay Kumar's Samrat Prithviraj declared tax-free in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow, Jan 2 (IANS) After Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday said that he would not get a vaccine shot against coronavirus since it was a "BJP vaccine", Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said Yadav was questioning the efforts of scientists and doctors and should therefore apologise. The BJP leader said SP national President had made a "childish" statement. "Renowned scientists and doctors across the world are making efforts to defeat coronavirus. Research is on and vaccine candidates have been readied. Akhilesh is now saying that he will not get the vaccine shot made by the BJP. He should apologise for his statement," Maurya said. Former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday told the media at the Samajwadi Party office in Lucknow: "I do not trust the coronavirus vaccine given by the BJP. How can I believe in a vaccine given by the BJP? When our government comes to power in 2022, everyone in UP will get the vaccine for free." Lucknow, Apr 12 () The Public Works Department (PWD) of Uttar Pradesh has been serving food to the needy and the poor twice a day in all 75 districts of the state since the lockdown was imposed to combat coronavirus, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said on Sunday. Community kitchens have been set up for this purpose at PWD guest houses in the districts and care is being taken to ensure the quality of food and adherence to social distancing norms, Maurya, who also holds the PWD portfolio, told here."The community kitchens are providing food to the needy persons in the districts twice a day. Dry rations are also being distributed from these community kitchens. These will continue to operate as long as the lockdown exists," he said.The community kitchens run by the PWD, the Bridge Corporation and the Rajkiya Nirman Nigam (an UP government undertaking) are also coordinating with the officials of the district administration, Maurya said.The UP deputy chief minister said the nationwide lockdown was essential to curtail the spread of the deadly virus and secure the future of the country.He urged people to follow the guidelines issued by the government and obey the lockdown norms."The Centre and the state government have already made arrangements to provide essential items to the public so that no one faces any problem," he said in a statement. Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav, party MP Prof Ram Gopal Yadav and former UP minister Shivpal Yadav have been arrested for violation of Section 144 in Lucknow. Akhilesh Yadav and Prof Ram Gopal Yadav were arrested when they were staging dharna in front of the Samajwadi Party office after being denied permission to go to Lakhimpur, following the violence at a farmers' protest there on Sunday, leaving at least nine dead. The two leaders have been taken to the Eco Garden along with others workers. Meanwhile, Shivpal Yadav was arrested from near the Engineering College on Sitapur road while he was on his way to Lakhimpur, and has been brought to the Police Lines under tight security. Police Commissioner D K Thakur confirmed the arrest of these leaders. Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav sat on dharna along with hundreds of supporters outside his Vikramaditya Marg residence after he was prevented from going to <keyword id="6366034" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="lakhimpur-kheri" source="Orion">Lakhimpur Kheri</keyword> by the police. Akhilesh came out of his house around 9 a.m., but was informed by the police that he would not be allowed to go to Lakhimpur Kheri. As the Samajwadi Party (SP) workers shouted slogans and became aggressive, Akhilesh asked them to show patience and squatted on the road. Earlier, a large number of policemen and paramilitary forces had been deployed outside the residence of the SP leader. Barricades had been erected to prevent traffic movement. Priyanka Gandhi's convoy was stopped in Lucknow and the police surrounded the Kaul House where she stays during her Lucknow visits. However, Priyanka managed to hoodwink the cops and walked out of her residence form the side gate and after a short distance, she got into a waiting car and left for Lakhimpur Kheri with Congress leader Deependra Singh Hooda at the wheel. As soon as Priyanka reached Hargaon in Sitapur district around 6 a.m. on Monday, she was stopped. After a minor scuffle with women constable, Priyanka demanded to see her arrest warrant. The police personnel took her into custody and she was taken to the PAC office in the district. Congress leaders who were accompanying Priyanka created a ruckus and staged a dharna to protest against her arrest. The Tikunia police in Lakhimpur Kheri lodged an FIR against Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Misra's son Ashish Mishra and 15 others for murder and inciting violence in Lakhimpur Kheri, even as the death toll reached nine on Monday. The body of a local journalist Raman Kashyap, who had been missing after Sunday's violence, was found in the mortuary on Monday, taking the death toll to nine, including four farmers. The <keyword id="10302911" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="samyukta-kisan-morcha" source="Orion">Samyukta Kisan Morcha</keyword> claimed that Ashish Misra's vehicle ran over farmers who were protesting against Uttar Pardesh Deputy Chief Minister <keyword id="1196069" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="keshav-prasad" source="Orion">Keshav Prasad</keyword> Maurya's visit to a village in Lakhimpur Kheri. Ajay Misra and his son Ashish, however, claimed that protesters attacked the convoy and killed a driver and three others, including two BJP workers. Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who went to meet the affected families in Tikunia, was detained by the Uttar Pradesh Police in the Hargaon police station area. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister <keyword id="43254" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="yogi-adityanath" source="Orion">Yogi Adityanath</keyword> said strict action would be taken against those found guilty. Meanwhile, the farmers, on Monday morning submitted a charter of demands to the District Magistrate Arvind Kumar Chaurasia, that included dismissal of Union Minister Ajay Mishra Teni, registering an FIR against his son Ashish Mishra, compensation for the families of the deceased and a government job for the kin. The farmers have also demanded a judicial probe into the incident. The district magistrate said that he had forwarded the charter of demands to the government and a decision would be taken soon. Internet services in Lakhimpur and adjoining districts remained suspended on Monday.
