 Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the state-of-the-art Passenger Terminal Building (PTB) at Dera Baba Nanak in Punjab on November 9. Both the countries have already signed an agreement for Kartarpur Corridor. The much-awaited corridor will connect the Dera Baba Nanak shrine in Gurdaspur, Punjab, with the gurdwara at Kartarpur. It is four kilometres from the international border, located at Shakargarh in Narowal district of Pakistan's Punjab province. Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of Sikhism, had spent more than 18 years of his life at the Darbar Sahib gurdwara in Kartarpur, Pakistan. It is located on the banks of the river Ravi, making it one of the holiest sites for devotees. Spanning over an area of around 2.5 lakh sq feet, the terminal will have a facilitation centre to host government officials responsible for ensuring hassle-free travel of pilgrims, food kiosks, parking areas and security points. The Indian government had acquired 50 acres land for the project and which can accommodate 5,000 passengers. Persons of Indian origin holding OCI (Overseas Citizenship of India) card too can visit the gurdwara using the Kartarpur Corridor. Both countries had agreed to allow 5,000 pilgrims every day and that additional pilgrims will be allowed on special occasions, subject to capacity expansion by of facilities by Pakistan side. India and Pakistan had earlier decided that the corridor would be operational throughout the year and seven days a week, and that pilgrims would have a choice to visit as individuals or in groups. Sadiq said their father got separated in the mayhem after partition and was never found, according to The Indian Express.It took two years for the brothers to finally meet in person, due to visa complications and the COVID-19 pandemic."The two didn't have passports, so first, we arranged those. Then, neither could get a visa. After that came COVID-19 and the borders were closed. Finally, the reopening of the Kartarpur Corridor in November presented an opportunity. We decided to arrange the meeting of the two there," Dhillon told The Indian Express.Sikka Khan, now in his 70s, lives in Phulewal, India, and said that he hoped to be given a visa by the Pakistani government so he could continue to visit his brother, The Indian Express reported."This village has always supported me. I have lived a good life here. I love them and they love me. But I also want to live with my brother," Khan said, according to paper."I hope the Pakistan government gives me a visa… I will keep coming back for a few months every year. This is how I want to spend the rest of my life."

Dera Baba Nanak (Punjab), Oct 24 () Online registration of devotees began on Thursday after India and Pakistan signed an agreement to operationalise the Kartarpur Corridor to allow Sikh pilgrims to visit the holy Darbar Sahib in that country. For registration of pilgrims, online portal (prakashpurb550.mha.gov.in) has gone live today, an official statement said. The pilgrims will have to register themselves online on this portal and exercise their choice to travel on any day. Pilgrims will be informed by SMS and email of the confirmation of registration 3 to 4 days in advance of the date of travel. An Electronic Travel Authorisation will also be generated. The pilgrims need to carry Electronic Travel Authorisation, along with their passport, when they arrive at the Passenger Terminal Building here, the statement said. The Kartarpur corridor will connect the Dera Baba Nanak shrine in Punjab with Darbar Sahib in Narowal district of Pakistan's Punjab province.
