Delhi has always been a focal point for money launderers. So when PM <keyword id="6354642" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Modi">Modi</keyword> announced demonetization of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 old notes, many black money holders queued up to convert cash to <keyword id="18712" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="Gold">gold</keyword>. 
 According to the <keyword id="65338" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Income-Tax-Department">Income Tax Department</keyword>, unaccounted sales of gold are estimated at Rs 250 crores. Earlier, the I-T department had found sales of Rs 400 crores, where cash was converted to bullion. 
 On Friday, the I-T department interrogated four bullion dealers in <keyword id="90137" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Karol-Bagh">Karol Bagh</keyword> and <keyword id="6359570" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Chandni-chowk">Chandni Chowk</keyword> and it emerged that they had allegedly exchanged banned tender amounting to over Rs 250 crore with gold bars in the past few weeks. 
 The search was continuing on 12 shops and eight residential premises of these bullion traders on Friday night. "Preliminary findings reveal these four bullion traders had facilitated conversion of banned currencies of around Rs 250 crore into bullion through multiple bank accounts," a senior I-T official told The <keyword id="6474066" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="economic-times">Economic Times</keyword>. All four bullion dealers had their shops in <keyword id="3894717" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="kucha-mahajani">Kucha Mahajani</keyword> area of old Delhi and a few in Karol Bagh. 
 
I-T officials are also investigating bank accounts of the four and some shell companies through which such currencies were deposited and routed to beneficiaries. "These are new cases which have come to light and the modus operandi is similar to the previous cases that the I-T department had unearthed soon after demonetisation," the official added.

Gandhi was also seen wearing the porters' trademark red shirt and lifting luggage over his head. He then sat down with the porters and sought to know their problems. Recently, a video had gone viral in which the porter friends of the railway station had expressed their desire to meet him," the Congress said in a post on X, with a picture of Gandhi interacting with the porters. <ul><li>The national capital of India may be facing a <keyword id="6355017" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="water-shortage">water shortage</keyword> over the next three days.</li><li>The water shortage will not only impact the general population, but also hospitals, which are currently reeling from the surge in COVID-19 patients.</li><li>According to the Delhi Jal Board (DJB), Haryana is to blame for reducing the supply of water by 20% to 30% as well as making the water dirtier.</li><li>The DJB has filed a petition with the Supreme Court to address the issue. The court will hear the cases tomorrow on May 6.</li></ul>India’s national capital, New Delhi, has been under lockdown for nearly three weeks now, due to the surging number of COVID-19 cases. And a water shortage will only make things worse. The city is already facing a number of shortages as it is, from vaccines to oxygen to medical supplies. The administration in Delhi saw this coming, more than a month ago. The vice chairman of the Delhi Jal Board (DJB), Raghav Chaddha, claims he has even written multiple letters to the Haryana Chief Minister to address the issue, but no resolution has been offered. With no other option on the table, the DJB finally moved the Supreme Court to help the national capital in its moment of crisis. It told the apex court that there is a critical shortage in water being supplied from the neighbouring states of Punjab and Haryana. As a result there was a shortage of water at the Sonia Vihar and Bhagirathi water treatment plants. To make matters worse, the water is dirtier than it used to be. The high ammonia concentration in the Yamuna has affected the productivity of the water treatment plants in Chandrawal and Wazirabad. These two plants are responsible for churning out an average of 228 million gallons of water a day for the people of Delhi. Senior advocate AM Singhvi and advocate Gautam Narayan, appearing for the DJB, urged the court to order Haryana to postpone the work. They argued that a reduction in water supply during the peak summer months would adversely affect the national capital. At the time, the Supreme Court had ordered Haryana, as well as Punjab and the Bhakra Beas Management Board, to not make any changes to the supply of water to Delhi until April 6. The court then extended the water supply order to April 14. The following week, on April 19, the Supreme Court appointed a committee to conduct a local inspection with regard to the quality and quantity of water coming in from Haryana to Delhi. Disputes of water between Delhi and Haryana are not new. They happen every summer when the supply of water is limited and the national capital is dependent on its neighbour to ensure adequate supply. Water shortage might be on the way to worsen Delhi's COVID-19 crisis

New Delhi, Mar 31 () Realty firm Unity Group, which has four shopping malls in the national capital, will not charge rent for the month of April worth Rs 10 crore, to provide relief to its retailers and other merchants affected by the nationwide lockdown. Unity Group has exempted all merchants at its 'Unity One' malls and 'Vegas' mall from paying rent for a month, said Harsh Bansal, Director, Unity Group and Pratham Group. "The total rent waiver will be about Rs 10 crore," he told . Unity Group has more than 300 retailers in various locations of Delhi including Dwarka, Rohini, Janak Puri and CBD Shahdara. "Due to this coronavirus pandemic, retail sales and footfall of commercial properties are gravely impacted at this initial stage itself, the retail sector became an instant victim as soon as the intensity of the coronavirus spread became known. "We will continue to do everything we can to support the retailers and maintain business continuity until the crisis ends," Bansal said. Since 1996, Unity Group has delivered more than 15 Million Sq Ft across 150 real estate projects across Delhi-NCR. It is developing a luxury housing project at Karol Bagh here. MJH SHWDRR
