Kanika Kapoor tests negative for Coronavirus — but she’ll have to clear it one more time just to be sure

More than a month after testing positive for the coronavirus, singer <keyword id="1758842" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kanika-Kapoor">Kanika Kapoor</keyword> on Sunday said there have been several "wrong exchanges of information" regarding her travel timeline and battle with the disease. Kanika, who was the first Bollywood personality to test positive for the novel virus on March 20, came under attack for <keyword id="6357355" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Negligence">negligence</keyword> and not practising self-quarantine despite returning to the country from the UK amid the coronavirus pandemic. She was also booked by the <keyword id="6366241" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="uttar-pradesh-police">Uttar Pradesh Police</keyword> for negligence and committing acts that were likely to spread the infection after she attended at least three gatherings in Lucknow, including a party where political personalities, including senior BJP leader and former Rajasthan Chief Minister <keyword id="6361795" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vasundhara-Raje">Vasundhara Raje</keyword> and her son, Dushyant Singh, were present. In a statement, the singer said she is aware of "several versions of stories" about her diagnosis, but "negativity thrown at a person does not change the reality". "Some of these seem to be fuelled even more because I have chosen to be silent till now. I stayed quiet not because I am wrong but in-fact being fully aware that there have been misunderstandings and wrong exchanges of information. I was giving time for the truth to prevail and for people to reach their own realisation," she said. Kanika said there were a certain facts about her case which she wanted to clarify, starting with how every person that she came in contact with, be it in the UK, Mumbai or Lucknow has "shown no symptoms of COVID-19, in-fact all those tested have been negative". "I travelled from the UK to Mumbai on March 10 and was duly screened at the international airport. There was no advisory on that day (UK travel advisory was released on 18 March) that stated that I needed to quarantine myself. I showed no ill health so did not quarantine myself." The singer said she travelled to Lucknow to meet her family on March 11 and claimed there was "no screening setup for domestic flights". On March 14 and 15, Kanika said she attended a friend's lunch and dinner and clarified "there was no party hosted by me and I was in absolute normal health." However, on March 17 and 18, she developed symptoms and said she got herself tested on March 19. "On March 20 when informed that my test was positive, I chose to go to the hospital. I was discharged after there negative tests and have since been at home for 21 days. "I want to especially thank the doctors and nurses who have so graciously taken care of me during a very emotionally testing time. I hope that all can deal with this matter with honesty and sensitivity," she added. She has given her blood sample for testing at the King George's Medical University (KGMU) here, they said. "Singer Kanika Kapoor on Monday expressed her desire to KGMU doctors to donate plasma. After this, she was called and her blood sample was taken for testing. If everything is found appropriate in the report (of the blood test), she will be called on Monday evening or Tuesday to donate her plasma," Tulika Chandra, Head of Department of Transfusion Medicine, KGMU told . "So far, three COVID-19 patients, who have recovered from the infection at the KGMU, have donated their plasma. Convalescent Plasma Therapy is an experimental procedure for COVID-19 patients. In this treatment, plasma (a blood component) from a cured COVID-19 patient is transfused to a critically ill coronavirus patient.The blood of a person who has recovered from COVID-19 develops antibodies to battle against the virus.The idea behind the therapy is that immunity can be transferred from a healthy person to a sick patient using convalescent plasma. Once the blood plasma of the recovered patient is infused with that of the second patient, the antibodies start fighting against coronavirus in the second person's body.The process of donating plasma is similar to that of donating blood and takes about an hour. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had recently asked the state's medical authorities to promote plasma therapy for the treatment of COVID-19 patients after examining its efficacy. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has recently allowed states to start clinical trials of plasma therapy. Many states like Kerala, Gujarat and Punjab have already started using it for treatment of coronavirus patients. The beauty of cinema is that good work will always "be remembered and watched for generations", the actor said. "Films earn money but we hope people will come and watch our films. We don't take the pressure because certain things are not in our hands." "Thank You For Coming" is a coming-of-age comedy which follows the story of Kanika Kapoor (Pednekar), a single woman in her 30s, and her quest for true love and pleasure. It is written by Radhika Anand and Prashasti Singh and directed by Karan Boolani. The 34-year-old actor said the film's story uses female desire to explore the theme of patriarchy in society. "Orgasm is a metaphor for a larger scheme of things that the film talks about. The film is against patriarchy, it is not about man versus woman, because patriarchy is not gender specific. "Women and men both are patriarchal. That's the thought of the film. The film is about sisterhood, womanhood... Every film has a thought or a premise, so this is the premise of the film," she said. Mumbai, Apr 15 () Jewelery designer Farah Khan Ali has revealed that a member of her in-house staff has been tested positive for the coronavirus.In a Twitter post on Tuesday, Farah said the staff member was taken to a hospital post his COVID-19 diagnosis."COVID news spreads faster than the virus. An in-house staff of mine tested positive today and so am moving him to a facility. Have all tested all at home today as well and are going to be quarantined. Be safe yet strong. This too shall pass," she tweeted. In a series of tweets on Thursday night, Farah, daughter of veteran actor-filmmaker Sanjay Khan, revealed that she, her family members and rest of the in-house staff have been tested negative "All negative…Yay yay yay . #covidtesting," Farah posted on Twitter."God is great. May the ones who have this virus heal soon and recover. May the ones who go to work everyday trying to save the ones who have the virus be protected. May god heal our planet," she added. In another tweet, Farah said her children and in-house staff were relieved after tests results came out."You know what was the best feeling more than testing negative for Covid? It was the relieved faces of my children and in-house staff who live with me since more than 10 years. That was priceless . Two very big films coming next year. I composed two songs there. I don’t have enough time. I leave for America. Because of Slum Stars I’ve got very good contacts in Hollywood. 
 
The film got Best Film Award from Sydney. I have directed the film, and now it’s going for the National Awards. I’m also looking to submit for <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Grammys">Grammys</a>. 
 
Everybody has dreams. I want to do international more. I want to project India, India’s classical fusion. I have done enough films.

His ‘Madison Square’ moment a few months ago got the world glued to their TV sets, and the Indian Prime Minister <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword> is once again all set to recreate the magic, this time at UK’s <keyword id="87289" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Wembley-Stadium">Wembley stadium</keyword> amid 60,000 British Indians! 
 Modi's popularity has attracted three times the crowds at Madison Square leaving even the UK Prime Minister <keyword id="6430216" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="David-Cameron">David Cameron</keyword> stumped. "I sometimes wonder why I don't have the magical ability to bring 60,000 people of my city together at one place," he joked recently. 
 
Modi's high-profile visit comes just weeks after China's president Xi Jinping was welcomed with pomp and show. However, the Indian Prime Minister will receive a high-profile ‘Olympic-style’ welcome at Wembley stadium in the largest reception any foreign head of government has ever received in the UK. It will also be the largest an Indian Prime Minister has ever received anywhere outside India. The grand event however has been scheduled for the second day of his UK trip. 
 
On his first day today as Modi lands in London , he will receive a Guard of Honour. He will talk to his British counterpart and a joint press conference is expected to follow these bilateral talks focused on development partnership, defence, security, energy and climate change. 
 
He will also address the British Parliament before arriving at Chequers, the country home of Cameron to spend the night there. The two PMs are expected to have a joint yoga session there. 
 
On Friday, Modi will address the Indian community at Wembley stadium after having lunch with Queen Elizabeth at Buckingham Palace. The massive reception has been themed “Two Great Nations. One Glorious Future”. It will kick-off with a specially produced cultural show featuring some of the very best British Indian artists, at least 600 of them. Reports suggest that singer Kanika Kapoor, popular for hit numbers like Baby Doll and Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan, will be the only Bollywood performer at the event. She is believed to have prepared a special welcome song for the PM. ‘Modi Express’ buses will ferry thousands of guests to the venue. The welcome speech will be delivered by the UK PM first. As Modi takes to the stage later to deliver his keynote address, the rally will be topped off with "the biggest fireworks display in the whole country", <a href="https://www.ukwelcomesmodi.org/#about-us">according to the UK Welcomes Modi website.</a> It is believed to be the center point of his visit that coincides with Diwali. A day later, Modi will address a CEO’s forum where several MoUs are expected to be announced between British and Indian companies, after which he will unveil a statue of the 12th century philosopher Basaveshwara as well as inaugurate the Ambedkar House museum in north London, before leaving for Turkey to attend the G20 summit. 
 His visit to the UK comes shortly after the Bharatiya Janata Party’s crushing defeat in the Bihar elections, its biggest failures in 17 months after winning Lok Sabha general elections. Notably, in a tweet before heading to the UK, he had said, "I am hopeful this visit will strengthen economic ties between India and UK &amp; bring more investment to India.#makeinindia." In a bid to create an environment of co-operation before leaving for the UK, the Indian government on Tuesday announced 15 key reforms in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). Still, all is not well. At least three protests have been planned outside 10, Downing Street. A group calling itself "<keyword id="3134307" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Modi-not-welcome">Modi Not Welcome</keyword>" has organized a demonstration during talks with PM Cameron.
