The partnership is a part of Meta's 'VC Brand Incubator Initiative' for the growth of micro, small and medium businesses in the country. "As part of this initiative, Meta has partnered with India's largest VC funds. We are thrilled to now partner with Kalaari Capital that has been instrumental in the growth journey of many startups," said <keyword id="3056724" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="ajit-mohan" source="Orion">Ajit Mohan</keyword>, VP and MD at Meta in India. Kalaari Capital is an early-stage, technology-focused venture capital firm based in Bengaluru. Zuckerberg's Meta partners with Kalaari Capital to upskill young startups in India

One of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=snapdeal&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Snapdeal’s</a> investors, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=kalaari+capital&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Kalaari Capital</a>, has apparently agreed to sale of the e-commerce site to <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword>. <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=softbank&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">SoftBank</a> has been coaxing Kalaari and another investor Nexus Venture Partners for <keyword id="541988" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="SnapDeal">Snapdeal</keyword>’s sale to <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=flipkart&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Flipkart</a> for around $1 billion. Initially, <keyword id="1397792" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Kalaari-Capital">Kalaari Capital</keyword> was not convinced but now it has, reportedly, joined hands with <keyword id="163404" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Softbank">SoftBank</keyword> for the proposed sale. "After sustained discussions, they (Kalaari Capital) are now on board... There is an understanding that they will work with SoftBank down the line,” ET quotes of the sources as saying. SoftBank requires assent of two investors to push for sale of Jasper-owned Snapdeal. However, nothing has been confirmed by Snapdeal's founders <keyword id="219793" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kunal-Bahl">Kunal Bahl</keyword> and Rohit Bansal. If the sale goes through, SoftBank will become a significant shareholder by making a substantial investment, expected to range between $1billion and $1.5 billion. As reported by ET last week, Soft-Bank is also considering a sizeable investment in <keyword id="6357120" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="PayTM">Paytm</keyword> owner One97 Communications in a deal that could value the Noida-based company at over $7 billion. SoftBank, which has so far invested about $2 billion in Indian startups including ride-hailing app Ola, hotel room aggregator Oyo and hyperlocal commerce company Grofers, is aiming to shed some flab in its portfolio.

Nothing seems to be going well between the board members of <keyword id="6481662" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Jasper-Infotech">Jasper Infotech</keyword>, which owns <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=snapdeal&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Snapdeal</a>. 
 
<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=kalaari+capital&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Kalaari Capital</a> and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=nexus+venture+partners&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Nexus Venture Partners</a> are at loggerheads with Japanese investor <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=softbank&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">SoftBank</a>, which has now cancelled a $150-200 million debt financing offer to <keyword id="541988" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="SnapDeal">Snapdeal</keyword>. 
 As per various reports, <keyword id="163404" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Softbank">SoftBank</keyword> is now interested in either merger or sell out of Snapdeal without any involvement of the other investors. ET reported SoftBank has been talking to several people for the deal without keeping <keyword id="1397792" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kalaari-Capital">Kalaari Capital</keyword> and <keyword id="175881" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nexus-Venture-Partners">Nexus Venture Partners</keyword> in loop. 
 
"Both Kalaari Capital and Nexus Venture Partners are livid at the developments, and have questioned SoftBank about its intention with regard to Snapdeal,” ET quoted one of its sources as saying. 
 
"There was a term-sheet offering Snapdeal debt financing for a period of three years, which was, inexplicably, withdrawn within days, giving credence that Soft-Bank has made up its mind about selling the company,” a second person told ET. 
 SoftBank has seats at the table, while Kalaari and Nexus have one each on Jasper’s board that includes cofounders <keyword id="219793" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kunal-Bahl">Kunal Bahl</keyword> and <keyword id="396598" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Rohit-Bansal">Rohit Bansal</keyword>, and Bharti Enterprises vice-chairman Akhil Gupta as an independent director. 
 
Apparently, the differences within the board are not new. In December, SoftBank had offered a direct $50-million monthly injection in Snapdeal, contingent on a potential merger or sale of the company. Kalaari and Nexus Venture Partners disagreed with the terms. 
 
SoftBank's stake in Jasper stood at about 33% while Kalaari Capital and Nexus Venture Partners owned about 8% and 10%, respectively. Both the founders, combined, owned about 6.5% of the company, which at its peak early last year was valued at about $6.5 billion. 
 
As per Reuters, SoftBank has reached out to <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=flipkart&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Flipkart </a>to sell Snapdeal.

Snapdeal’s investors cross swords; SoftBank cancels $150-200 million debt financing

Snapdeal terminated its merger plans with <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword> and put its foot down to function as an independent entity. Following the decision, Snapdeal’s early investor Nexus Venture Partners said it would "continue to partner with the company, to help achieve its goals". "Nexus, as a long-term Snapdeal shareholder, fully supports the Snapdeal 2.0 journey," said the firm. Nexus holds nearly 10-11% stake in Snapdeal. SoftBank, which was pushing Snapdeal to merge with Flipkart, too, backed Snapdeal's decision to go solo. However, some of the investors were upset over Snapdeal’s decisions, such as <keyword id="1397792" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kalaari-Capital">Kalaari Capital</keyword>. “I maintain my stand that the decision to terminate the deal was not supported by Kalaari and also reiterate that the deal was called off without prior notice to us," <keyword id="1397790" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vani-Kola">Vani Kola</keyword>, managing director at Kalaari Capital, said in an email response to ET.

Early investors support Snapdeal’s decision, back it to go independent

SaaS startup SimpliContract raises $1.8 million in seed funding led by Kalaari Capital

The 11-year-old startup has made it big in the Indian gaming space with over 50 million users and is also the official partner of the Indian Premier League - the cricket league which brought them most of their users. According to the company’s official release, Dream11’s user base has grown at a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of about 230% over a period of three years. “Providing great returns to our shareholders, whether investors or Dreamsters (employees), is very important to us and further reinforces their belief in Dream11. We will keep working hard and are targeting to end the year with 100 million users,” said Harsh Jain, CEO and Co-Founder, Dream11. The startup has a busy time ahead with the ongoing IPL and the upcoming cricket World Cup. At Dream11, it was a dream come true after multiple years of hard work. Dream11 becomes India’s first gaming unicorn

 E-commerce major <keyword id="541988" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="SnapDeal">Snapdeal</keyword> will shell out an average pay hike of 12-15 percent as it looks to assure employees amid the online marketplace scouting for a potential buyer. 
 
According to sources, the pay revision will be effective from April 1 and will see salaries of employees at the mid and junior-level go up by an average 12-15 percent. 
 
For senior management, the hike will be 9-12 percent, but the company may offer 20-25 percent raise to exceptional performers, they added. 
 
The cash-strapped company is also believed to be distributing nearly 1 percent of its stock to about 150 employees. 
 
Earlier this year, the company's founders had admitted having made mistakes and said they would take a "100 percent cut" in their own salaries. 
 The decision to give such a good pay hike has been taken at a time when Snapdeal's largest investor <keyword id="163404" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Softbank">SoftBank</keyword> is believed to be working towards a sale of the e-commerce platform and a final decision is likely to be made in the next few weeks. 
 The top contender in the race is <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword>, which has recently received a funding of USD 1.4 billion. 
 Softbank is also in talks with <keyword id="4386851" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="kalaari-capital-and-nexus-venture-partners">Kalaari Capital and Nexus Venture Partners</keyword>, who have representation on the board of Snapdeal, to reach a consensus on valuation, sources said. 
 Snapdeal's seven-member board includes representation from investors SoftBank, Kalaari Capital and Nexus Venture Partners, as well as co-founders <keyword id="219793" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kunal-Bahl">Kunal Bahl</keyword> and <keyword id="396598" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Rohit-Bansal">Rohit Bansal</keyword>.

Snapdeal to dole out up to 15% pay hike amid sell-off buzz

<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=nexus+venture+partners&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Nexus Venture Partners</a> (NVP) has apparently given its nod for <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=snapdeal&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Snapdeal’s</a> sellout to <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=flipkart&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Flipkart</a>. Japan’s <keyword id="163404" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Softbank">SoftBank</keyword>, which secured a nod from <keyword id="1500808" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="KALAARI">Kalaari</keyword> capital last month, got a go-ahead from NVP as well. As per various reports, the term sheet with <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword> could be signed soon and the due diligence for the deal would commence immediately thereafter. Sources told PTI, <keyword id="541988" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="SnapDeal">Snapdeal</keyword> founders would get about $25 million each, while NVP could get close to $100 million and stake in the merged/new entity. Kalaari could get about $70-80 million. <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=softbank&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">SoftBank</a> yesterday said it suffered a loss of $1 billion on its investment in Snapdeal during 2016-17. SoftBank currently owns over 30% in Snapdeal, while Nexus has roughly a 10% stake and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=kalaari+capital&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Kalaari</a> holds 8% share in the firm. The deal between Snapdeal and Flipkart, if completed, would mark the biggest acquisition in the Indian e-commerce space and change the landscape of the sector that is witnessing intense competition among players. Indian e-commerce companies have seen funding dry up over the last few months as investors are focusing extensively on profitability and rationalisation of expenses. With intense competition from deep-pocketed global rivals like <keyword id="18635" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Amazon">Amazon</keyword>, companies like Flipkart and Snapdeal could face more heat in the coming days. There have been reports that Snapdeal's mobile wallet service Freecharge could be sold separately with players like Paytm and MobiKwik being in the fray.

Flipkart all set to buy Snapdeal

India’s start up scene is gaining steam; all thanks to the some of the best think tanks of the country investing their money enthusiastically into start ups. Having funded a couple of start ups recently, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=ratan+tata">Ratan Tata</a> is now investing in Holachef, a Mumbai-based food start up. 
 
Tata first invested in March 2014 in <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Altaeros+Energies">Altaeros Energies</a>, a wind energy start-up founded by graduates of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Since then, he has funded quite a few start ups, including woman’s fashion portal, Kaaryah. 
 
Besides turning investor, Tata, is also an adviser to <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Kalaari+Capital+">Kalaari Capital</a> along with putting capital in some of its portfolio companies like <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Snapdeal">Snapdeal</a>, Urban Ladder, and BlueStone earlier. He typically invests small amounts - less than $1 million - in early-to-late stage ventures. 
 
A brain child of Saurabh Saxena, Holachef provides home cooked at affordable prices, all across Mumbai and Pune. Holachef had raised Series A funding of Rs 20 crore in a round led by Kalaari Capital in June this year. Holachef had raised a seed fund of Rs 2 crore from India Quotient in February 2015. 
 
Saurabh Saxena, Co-founder and CEO, confirmed about the funding and told Business Insider India, “With his(Ratan Tata) guidance, Holachef is sure to become a leader in the food-tech space, with customer delight at its core. By winning his trust, we have raised the bar of quality and excellence for ourselves.” 
 
Holachef has a couple of competitors in the market, including BiteClub, Eatlo and TinyOwl Homemade. Founded by Saurabh Saxena, Gelra and Ritu, this start up have both professional and amateur chefs in its platform.

<ul><li><keyword id="3465872" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="curefit">Curefit</keyword> has raised $75 million in the first tranche of series D round of <keyword id="6357455" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Funding">funding</keyword>. </li><li>Its range of investors now include <keyword id="192487" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Anand-Piramal">Anand Piramal</keyword> Trust, Accel Partners, Kalaari Capital, IDG Ventures among others. </li><li>This takes the startup’s reported valuation to $500 million. </li></ul>Health and fitness startup Curefit has raised $75 million in a series D round. According to the filing sourced by Paper.vc, the investment was raised from Accel Partners, Anand Piramal, Kalaari Capital, IDG Ventures India and Pratithi Investment Trust. While the investment is a first tranche of a series D round, Curefit’s <a href="https://www.livemint.com/companies/start-ups/curefit-raises-75-million-valuation-crosses-500-million-1557206291458.html">reported</a> valuation with the recent fundraise goes up to $500 million. Curefit has not released an official statement regarding the fundraise. Curefit, founded in 2016 by Myntra co-founder Mukesh Bansal and former Flipkart Chief Business Officer Ankit Nagori, has gained popularity in India through its fitness centres - <keyword id="6825388" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="cultfit">Cultfit</keyword>, health app - Curefit, diagnostic centres - Carefit and yoga and meditation centres - mindfit. The duo’s success with their previous businesses seems to have rubbed off on their current venture too. In just three years, the startup has registered 4 lakh users for curefit, with 160 centres across Bengaluru, Delhi NCR, Mumbai and Hyderabad – all adding up to an annual revenue of $100 million. Curefit had last raised funding of $120 million in July 2018. Earlier, it had also raised funding from Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan, who had been signed as the brand ambassador for the fitness startup in 2017. Roshan had <a href="https://inc42.com/buzz/hrithik-roshan-pours-in-878-2k-in-fitness-startup-cure-fit/">reportedly </a>invested $14.63 million in the startup. Since its inception, Curefit has acquired 5 <keyword id="6362513" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="startups">startups</keyword> in the <keyword id="245935" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Health-and-Wellness">health and wellness</keyword> space, and has been fast growing its business.
