<keyword id="6357120" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="PayTM">Paytm</keyword> has joined hands with Suzuki Motorcycle India to allow consumers to book any of Suzuki’s two-wheeler models on its platform across the country. 
 
As part of the association, over 400+ Suzuki dealers have been on-boarded and the company will also have a brand store on Paytm. The company is looking to sell over 10,000 units within this calendar year. Paytm will also enable vehicle financing to provide higher degree of assistance to consumers while buying a Suzuki product. 
 
Satoshi Uchida, Managing Director (India) at Suzuki Motorcycle said, “Consumers can now book their favorite Suzuki motorbike with the ease of a click on Paytm. Our dealerships present across the country will be actively involved in giving a great consumer experience to Paytm’s customers while fulfilling the orders.” 
 
This comes at a time when Flipkart is set to offer car and bike related online services including buying and selling cars and bikes. These services have already been rolled out in Bengaluru will be introduced across the country by July 2016. This will not only make online purchasing of vehicles easier but will also boost online sales accessories across the Flipkart platform. 
 
Flipkart started selling both four and two wheelers with the Mahindra KUV100. Besides Mahindra, Flipkart also works with Kawasaki and TVS Motors. 
 
It’s been over two years since auto products were sold by e-commerce players for the first time. Back in December 2014, e-tailer Snapdeal .com has entered into an agreement with two-wheeler giant Hero MotoCorp to sell the auto major's two wheelers on its website. 
 
Last year, 1.5 crore units of two-wheelers were sold in India, which was an increase of 1.2% compared to 2014.

Paytm will now sell Suzuki bikes and scooters

After the success of the TUV300 and KUV100, <keyword id="45224" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Mahindra">Mahindra</keyword> showcased its show stopper - the <keyword id="3218955" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="XUV-Aero">XUV Aero</keyword> coupe-crossover concept at the Auto Expo today. The car looks to set the standard for bold design and futuristic connected technologies to be seen in Mahindra <keyword id="20632" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Cars">cars</keyword> later. 
 
Based on its large XUV500, the XUV Aero looks similar to the likes of modern crossovers from BMW and Mercedes. In terms of looks it gets a sloping roofline that meets the horizontally positioned tail lamps. 
 
The chunky bumpers with faux diffusers are also most noticeable. The XUV Aero concept will also feature the company’s new infotainment and connectivity features that’ll be offered on future Mahindra production cars. 
 
Vehicle design has become the top most factors behind the purchase decision of prospective buyers in the country a fact that is well understood at country's largest utility vehicle maker Mahindra &amp; Mahindra. 
 This is Mahindra’s attempt at a coupé-style <keyword id="45454" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="SUV">SUV</keyword> for the masses, a very niche body type generally reserved for the elite. Imagine BMW X6 and Mercedes GLE 450 AMG Coupe. 
 
Mahindra has actually been investing a lot in design. It acquired Pininfarina, the global design firm, which has played a part in design of Super cars like Ferrari. The company even had a design studio right at the venue to showcase what went into the making of the XUV Aero. Farmers in India are hopeful for good rains this year, given that the last two monsoons weren’t effective, leading to poor crops and droughts in various parts of the country. However, there is another industry, the Indian automakers, which is looking forward to heavy monsoons this year, so that demand of the new models continues to rise. These new models have attracted people despite the fact that the future of diesel-powered vehicles in the Indian domestic market is uncertain. 
 
Good rains would mean that sales would pick up further momentum as buyer sentiments would bloom in the coming months. 
 
India’s biggest auto maker Maruti Suzuki reported that it has seen a 10.6% rise in its domestic sales in the past month, because of high demand for recently launched Baleno and Vitara Brezza. However, the demand for older and smaller cars, like Alto and WagonR, has seen a dip. 
 
On the other hand, Hyundai also saw rise in the demand of Grand i10, Elite i20 and Creta, reporting an increase of 10.4% over the year earlier period. 
 
Mahindra &amp; Mahindra, the makers of top utility vehicles, have seen a rise in sales because of TUV300 and KUV100, posting over 8% rise in its sales. 
 
However, one condition on which the monsoon sales depend is the regulatory intervention, which needs to settle at the earliest so that the auto industry can get a stable environment to work in. Since December, the auto industry has been facing a ban on the registration of diesel vehicles with engines displacing 2000 cc and higher in the National Capital Region. 
 While the automakers wait for this ban to be lifted, the <keyword id="146133" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="National-Green-Tribunal">National Green Tribunal</keyword> is considering that 11 more cities should have a similar ban, which will be decided in a hearing scheduled for July.

This time the list includes some of the most popular models like <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Renault+Kwid&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Renault Kwid</a>, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Maruti+Suzuki+Celerio&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Maruti Suzuki Celerio</a> and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Hyundai+Eon&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Hyundai Eon</a>. Each of these cars has received zero stars for safety. The Maruti Suzuki Eeco and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Mahindra+Scorpio&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Mahindra Scorpio</a> met the same fate. 
 
The sad fact is that while the country may be the sixth largest automobile market, it doesn’t have its own NCAP. India is also expected to jump to the fourth spot by 2020, skipping ahead of the likes of South Korea and Germany.

Other markets like the US, EU, Australia, China and even some major South East Asian nations have their own vehicle safety standards, but not India. These tests by <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Global+NCAP&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Global NCAP</a> are critical to drawing the Indian government’s attention to possible life-threatening injuries Indian car-buyers are prone to while driving. 
 
These tests require some basic safety regulations to be met. This includes having dual airbags as standard, and having a certain amount of structural integrity. Needless to say most test vehicles failed on both counts. 
 
The only ray of hope is that some car manufacturers like Mahindra and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Renault&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Renault</a> are taking such tests seriously. <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Mahindra&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Mahindra</a> now offers airbags as at least an option on every variant of the Scorpio and KUV100. It’s also promised to update security standards, and claims almost 75% of Scorpio customers choose the air bags variants. Renault has also said it’ll rework the Kwid to make it safer.

Car manufacturers have reported a significant growth in the fiscal that ended March’16. 
 
Overall, the sales numbers of India’s to three car-makers, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Maruti+Suzuki+India&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Maruti Suzuki India</a> and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Hyundai+Motors+India&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Hyundai Motors India</a> and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Mahindra+%26+Mahindra&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Mahindra &amp; Mahindra</a> point at a healthy growth in the passenger vehicles segment. These top three manufacturers currently command 72.61% share in the passenger vehicles market.

Believe it or not, <keyword id="44883" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Maruti-Suzuki">Maruti Suzuki</keyword> India and <keyword id="596" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Hyundai">Hyundai</keyword> Motor India, the country’s top two players have posted their best-ever domestic sales in the current fiscal. 
 
They reported an annual growth of 11.5% and 15.1% respectively. Second runner up <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Mahindra+%26+Mahindra&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Mahindra &amp; Mahindra</a> also reported a 6% hike in sales. This is after two consecutive double-digit declines in the last two fiscals. 
 
Overall, during FY 2015-16, these manufacturers have sold 2,026,282 units, registering a YoY growth of 11.62% from last fiscal’s 1,815,338 units. 
 
What fuelled the growth? 
Experts believe that a slew of new product launches, attractive interest rates and agreeable fuel prices played a big role in the demand for passenger vehicles throughout 2015-16. 
 
Challenges 
The regulatory environment and the fluctuating policy decisions arrested the overall growth potential for the industry. The current fiscal budget also taxed <keyword id="439075" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="luxury-vehicles">luxury vehicles</keyword> and SUVs, a segment that has seen strong growth in India in recent months. 
 
Company-wise performance: 
 
Maruti <keyword id="6911" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="suzuki">Suzuki</keyword> India 
Maruti’s new models like the Baleno and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Vitara+Brezza&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Vitara Brezza</a> are making a solid statement. Demand for the premium Ciaz sedan is up 28.9%. 
 
Maruti’s UVs, namely the Gypsy, S-Cross, Ertiga and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Vitara+Brezza&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Vitara Brezza</a> are making a solid contribution. They together sold 13,894 units, up 123.4% YoY! Such is the demand for the new <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Vitara+Brezza&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Maruti Vitara Brezza</a> that it’s led to a 5-month delivery time for the top-end variant. 
 
Interestingly though, the entry level duo - Alto and Wagon R sold around 36,678 units. That’s down 8.7% YoY. Some say that is at the face of stiff competition from the likes of the Hyundai Eon and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Renault+Kwid&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Renault Kwid</a>. 
 
Hyundai Motor India: 
Hyundai clocked its highest-ever financial year domestic sales. The company sold a hefty 41,201 units in March 2016, up 4.24% YoY. 
 
Hyundai has achieved an all-time highest volume and highest-ever market share of over 17%. The company says the success is due to the strong performance of models like the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Creta&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Creta</a>, Elite i20 and Grand i10. 
 
Back in 2015, the Creta took the Indian market by storm. Clocking average monthly sales of around 7,000 units, the Creta has been among the top 10 most sold cars in the country. 
 
Mahindra &amp; Mahindra 
After two years of double-digit decline, M&amp;M is back on track with a 6% rise in total domestic passenger vehicles. In March 2016, M&amp;M’s passenger vehicles segment grew 21% YoY. 
 
M&amp;M reinvented its product strategy in 2015, and launched a total of nine new products. This paid off as products like the TUV300 and the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=KUV100&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">KUV100</a> helped them grow.
