JetBlue has invested heavily in the premium experience with new <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/inside-jetblues-newest-plane-taking-flyers-to-london-photos-details-2021-7">herringbone-style suites</a> that all offer privacy, exclusivity, and direct aisle access. But whether business travelers will be the ones to fill those seats remain to be seen as there are some key premium features JetBlue has left out of the offering. I flew on JetBlue's inaugural flight from <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/flying-jetblue-new-york-to-london-economy-mint-food-review-2021-8">New York to London in economy class</a> and back a few days later in <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/inside-jetblue-mint-business-class-flyers-to-london-europe-2021-3">Mint business class</a>.Here's why JetBlue wouldn't be my first pick if I was a business traveler. <h2>No access to premium airport lounges</h2><div type="image" title="Flying JetBlue Airways from New York to London - JetBlue Airways London Inaugural Flight" height="1665" width="2221" msid="87369155" hostid="261"></div>A key staple of traveling internationally in a premium cabin is having access to airport lounges before departure. Nearly every full-service US carrier has a network of lounges at its hub airports, except JetBlue. Airport lounges serve business travelers by providing a quiet, exclusive space to get work done or simply rest before a flight. They offer complimentary WiFi and a selection of drinks and snacks, with the latter enabling travelers to get more sleep on eastbound transatlantic flights being by eating in the lounge and skipping the in-flight meal service. Terminal 5 at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport isn't entirely deprived of premium lounges, it's just that none are available for JetBlue's premium passengers. Aer Lingus' lounge is not currently open to JetBlue flyers; though, day passes can be purchased for $50, according to <a href="https://upgradedpoints.com/travel/airports/new-york-jfk-airport-lounges/#Aer-Lingus-Lounge">Upgraded Points</a>. Mint travelers will have to use other means to access lounges, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/coolest-features-of-the-new-amex-centurion-lounge-jfk-airport-2020-10">such as credit cards</a> or <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/using-priority-pass-free-meal-perk-in-uk-heathrow-airport-2021-8">Priority Pass</a>, as their tickets won't be enough. JetBlue is aware that premium lounges are needed for the route and is reviewing options to offer the amenity to passengers in the future. As of now, though, none are available to those that simply buy a business class ticket. <h2>Inconvenient flight times</h2><div type="image" title="Flying JetBlue Airways from New York to London - JetBlue Airways London Inaugural Flight" height="1166" width="1555" msid="87369158" hostid="261"></div>JetBlue's flagship route between New York and London's Heathrow Airport isn't timed perfectly for business travelers. The late evening departure from New York is scheduled at 10 p.m. and arrives in London the next morning at 10:05 a.m. The late morning arrival means business travelers can write off an entire half a day in London. When I flew JetBlue to London, for example, I didn't get to my hotel until around 12:30 p.m., and that was with taking the Heathrow Express and using the e-gates at customs.British Airways, American <keyword id="11898285" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="airlines" source="Orion">Airlines</keyword>, and Virgin Atlantic Airways, alternatively, all have flights that arrive before 7 a.m., giving business travelers the early bird advantage to tackle early meetings or more time to prepare for afternoon engagements.JetBlue's flights to Gatwick Airport are better timed for business travelers, departing New York at 7:50 p.m. and arriving in London at 7:55 a.m. On the return, the Heathrow flight departs London at 1:55 p.m. and arrives in New York at 6:49 p.m. while the Gatwick flight departs London at 12 p.m. and arrives in New York at 4:48 p.m. Both arrival times conflict with rush hour traffic in New York City and give travelers little time to adjust to being in a new city before it's time for bed. <h2>A lack of partner airlines on the route</h2><div type="image" title="American Airlines and JetBlue Airways" height="1666" width="2222" msid="87369161" hostid="261"></div>JetBlue is largely flying solo across the Atlantic, despite having a network of partner airlines on both sides of the pond. And in the event something goes wrong, whether it be a delay or cancellation, that could mean passengers are left without a backup option. American Airlines has British Airways, Delta Air Lines has Virgin Atlantic Airways, and United Airlines has Air Canada, and vice versa, each offering multiple ways of getting between New York and London. JetBlue doesn't have those same partnerships where travelers can simply be moved to a partner airline in case something goes wrong. <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/what-american-and-jetblues-new-partnership-means-for-travelers-2021-2">American is a JetBlue partner through the Northeast Alliance</a> but it remains to be seen whether JetBlue will rebook flyers onto American flights if one of its own flights is delayed or canceled. JetBlue does have the benefit of a second daily flight to London's other area airport, Gatwick. But there will only be so many seats available to give to disrupted passengers. <h2>Where JetBlue does offer great value for business travelers</h2><div type="image" title="London's Heathrow Airport - JetBlue Airways London to New York in Mint business class flight 2021" height="1281" width="1708" msid="87369163" hostid="261"></div>The new Mint business class onboard JetBlue's transatlantic aircraft does offer travelers a wide variety of amenities that surpass what rival carriers are offering. Mint travelers will be able to stay connected throughout the entire journey with high-speed satellite WiFi that's free of charge in business class. When it comes to onboard dining, JetBlue has partnered with Delicious Hospitality Group, which operates restaurants in New York City, to <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/food-review-trying-jetblues-new-dining-experience-on-london-flights-2021-10">cater the business class experience</a>. Flexible dining is available for those that want to focus on work or get straight to sleep. And the seats themselves are a step up from JetBlue's initial Mint product with brand-new private suites. All Mint suites have fully closable doors and do not disturb buttons to maximize downtimes. JetBlue offers what is arguably the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/jetblue-flies-a321neo-small-narrow-body-between-new-york-london-2021-9">most convenient way to fly to London</a> because of the aircraft type it flies on the route. The Airbus A321neoLR is an incredibly nimble and capable aircraft that JetBlue has outfitted with a mere 138 seats. The result, as I found, was a smoother experience without a lot of the stresses that normally accompany <keyword id="11904258" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="international-travel" source="Orion">international travel</keyword>. I felt no different on the London flight than if I was flying JetBlue to, say, Florida. Not many airlines can offer that type of convenience and it made the flying experience all the more enjoyable. But JetBlue does have some downsides that need to be reconciled in order to be a true friend to business travelers on the route. But not this year. This past Mother's Day, I skipped the subtle hints and gave myself the one gift I wanted more than anything else: an entire weekend by myself.No shouting toddlers. No waking up in the middle of the night. No endless list of chores. Just utter quiet and complete solitude. Trust me, they will intrude. A good friend will need to process the fight she's having with her husband. Your cousin will want to know how your strategic absence is going or talk about where your moms went wrong when you were both kids. If enjoying phone conversations without screaming kids in the background was part of the plan, allow it, but if not, send those calls to voicemail. The second I arrived and before I even put my bags down, I got a text from my husband complaining I'd overfilled the garbage can. It wasn't a conversation we needed to have right then, and so I didn't respond. I checked in with my family every night before bed, but other than that I ignored his messages.Sure, I felt a little guilty, but they were never an emergency and I knew I wasn't obligated to respond. When I got home, my husband admitted that he'd actually enjoyed his time solo-parenting and said that, in some respects, it was easier. This isn't unusual: Often without the primary parent's micromanagement, the secondary parental figure develops competences and confidence. Do it often enough, and a strategic absence teaches your kids they can rely on both parents, not just mom. In the end, I came back feeling more rested, connected to myself, appreciative of my family, and eager for my next escape.

Health insurance 
 
Contribution clause 
 
The health insurance regulations have done away with the contribution clause. So, if you have multiple health covers, you can choose any policy to make a claim. 
 
“While the contribution clause was earlier an inconvenience for the customer, Irda has given the policyholder the right to select a plan of his choice while making a claim,” says Mukesh Kumar, member, executive management and head, HR, marketing and strategy planning, HDFC ERGO. 
 
Earlier, if you had more than one policy, your approved claim amount had to be split in the ratio of the sums insured. Now, you can decide which insurer to approach for the entire claim amount. 
 
Renewability clause 
 
Many senior citizens had complained about insurers refusing to renew policies on grounds of adverse claim experience at a stage when they needed the cover the most. Now, Irda has made it mandatory for insurers to renew a policy except on grounds of fraud, moral hazard or misrepresentation. 
 
“The insurer has to renew a policy on identical terms and conditions on which the first policy was issued. Any variation requires obtaining the specific written consent of the insured,” says consumer activist Jehangir Gai. Claim-based loading, where premiums were hiked because of a claim made in the previous year, too, stands obliterated. 
 
Insurers can load premium only on the basis of overall age-wise and ailment-wise claims experience, among other parameters. 
 
Reasonability clause 
 
According to insurers, this is one of the most common causes of disputes on claim settlement. The clause states that only ‘reasonably and necessarily’ incurred expenses will be eligible for a claim. Clearly, this is a grey area open to interpretation. 
 
“Reasonable charges are arrived at by insurers by comparing the standard billing by a hospital and comparing the same with the prevailing charges in the same geographical area for similar or identical services. Thus, the primary purpose of the reasonable charges clause is to ensure fair billing by hospitals,” says Subrahmanyam B, senior vice-president and head, health, commercial lines and reinsurers, Bharti-AXA General. 
 
For instance, if your hospital charges Rs 1 lakh for a surgery that typically costs Rs 70,000, the insurer will pay the lower amount. Since insurers use their discretion, it can cause heartburn to policyholders. However, independent industry watchers say customers should not accept the company’s decision blindly. 
 
“The new regulations say any denial of claim has to be accompanied by a medical reason. Hence, reasonability clause must not be accepted by the policyholders,” says civic activist Gaurang Damani.

Exclusions, sub-limits and co-payment clauses 
 
Before signing up for any health policy, you need to check what is not covered. All policies exclude certain expenses, impose sub-limits within the overall sum insured and insist on the claimant sharing a part of the claim burden. 
 
In case of exclusions—expenses that insurers need not pay for—the scope for ambiguity has shrunk, thanks to the Irda putting out a list of 199 such expenses as part of standardisation norms. You also need to watch out for the waiting period for various conditions. 
 
For instance, policies do not entertain any claims, except the ones related to accidents, in the initial 30 days. “A general waiting period of 24 months is applicable for named surgeries or illnesses, such as cataract, gall bladder stones, kidney stones, and so on. 
 
For all pre-existing conditions declared and accepted at the time of application, the waiting period is 48 months,” says Kumar. 
 
Sub-limits and co-payment clauses limit the insurer’s liability. In case of a co-payment clause, which is typically part of senior citizens’ policies, insurers could agree to pay, say, 80% of the approved claim, with policyholders having to chip in with the rest. 
 
<keyword id="6406875" type="COMPANY" weightage="40" keywordseo="life-insurance">Life insurance</keyword> 
 
Indisputability clause 
 
This ensures that insurers do not arbitrarily dismiss claims on grounds of inaccurate declaration by the policyholder. 
 
According to Section 45 of the Insurance Act, insurers cannot question a policyholder’s declaration after two years of the date of issuing the policy, citing inaccurate or false statement made in the application or any report of the medical officer. 
 
Free-look clause 
 
The proposition is simple: if you are not happy with the policy that you have been sold, you can choose to return it and get a refund. The clause is meant to be an antidote to mis-selling of policies. Under this rule, you have the option of returning the policy within 15 days of receiving the policy document. 
 
Remember, the period starts from the day you receive the policy documents and not the date of issue. It is applicable to life and health insurance policies with a tenure of three years or more.

Everyone needs health insurance. There is no age criterion for ill health or misfortune. Hospital bills can be exorbitant and can set you back financially. Meanwhile, the annual premium of a health insurance policy of Rs 3 lakh will be less than Rs 4,000 for a 29-year-old. So do not delay health insurance any longer. 
 
2. I can save for my retirement later 
Sure you can! However, a few years down the line your expenses will be higher as you are likely to have a family and dependents. It is very likely that you would be paying off EMIs on a home loan. Therefore, by starting your savings earlier, you are taking advantage of the power of compounding, which helps your money grow at a much faster pace when invested over a longer period. For instance, if you invest Rs 1 lakh today and it earns an interest of 12% per annum, it will be nearly Rs 30 lakh (without adding another rupee from your side) after 30 years. But the same Rs 1 lakh will be merely Rs10 lakh after 20 years. Go to any calculator on the Internet and understand the magic of computing. 
 
3. I don’t have time for investments 
We all lead busy lives and unless we are financial consultants, we have time-consuming careers that have nothing to do with managing investments. What we forget is both our money and our future are at stake here. And we need to take some time out from our hectic lives to monitor things. A financial advisor can help you take good decisions about money and investments. You will also find a number of financial software that will help you manage your investments. 
 
4. Missing a few payments is no big deal 
Missing a credit card bill or an EMI payment means a negative marking down of your CIBIL credit score. It also means when you want to avail a home loan or a personal loan in the future, the bank will check your credit report and may either refuse your loan application or charge you a very high rate of interest. A poor payment record will affect your credit score and the ability to get loans for a great length of time. 
 
5. I will start saving after I get married/have kids 
Waiting for a milestone in life to start saving is like trying to catch the train after it has left the platform. Start small but start now. Increase the amount you put away in investments whenever you can. Most importantly, do remember that you need to invest and not just put your money in a low interest saving account if you want your money to grow.
