"Till 2 pm on Saturday, 3,000 food packets have been served for free to people, not only to the protestors but also to local hawkers, rickshaw-pullers, autorickshaw drivers, journalists and other those who have come to the site to express solidarity with the movement," he said. Prajakta Sikdar, another volunteer who is dividing her time between raising slogans and manning one of the four counters at the protest site, said that till 1.30 pm on Saturday, she had distributed around 600 vegetarian food packets among the people. "Please don't hesitate... Tell me what you want, we have prepared all these packets for you. If you want to have cakes or other refreshments, that is also available," she was heard telling a person. A taxi driver was seen unloading hundreds of packets of food from the vehicle's boot, while three people in another vehicle were seen bringing folding cots to the site. "A well-wisher, who is a teacher of an English medium school in Sodepur, has sent these 400 food packets but she can't identify herself," the taxi driver said while offering a packet to this correspondent. Dibyendu Banerjee, a junior doctor manning the 'Abhaya' Clinic, which has been set up to treat patients at the site, said that till now 350 people, including policemen, have been treated. "People are coming for check-up, treatment and our team of five physicians are attending to everyone and giving medicine for free if needed," he said. Across the state, <keyword id="22347761" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="hospital-services" source="keywords">hospital services</keyword> remain disrupted as junior doctors, interns, and postgraduate trainees continue their ceasework for the fourth consecutive day, demanding a magisterial inquiry into the doctor's death. Ghosh's decision comes a day after the West Bengal government removed the medical superintendent-cum-vice-principal Sanjay Vashisth, who was replaced by Bulbul Mukhopadhyay, the dean of student affairs, with additional responsibilities as superintendent. Over the past three days, junior doctors had been covering emergency duties, but as of Monday morning, they ceased all responsibilities. "We want an impartial investigation into the murder of our colleague, either by the CBI or a sitting magistrate. We are dissatisfied with the current police investigation and will continue our protest till justice is served and the state ensures foolproof security for all doctors and healthcare workers," said a protesting junior doctor from RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, where the incident took place. The body of the woman postgraduate trainee was found in a seminar hall at the hospital on Friday morning, and a civic volunteer was arrested on Saturday in connection with the crime. The junior doctors had asked the state government to expedite the prosecution of the culprits and remove Ghosh and Vashisth. Ghosh, who took office in mid-2021, denied the allegations, stating that he cannot tolerate the false accusations and has already cooperated with the police, including handing over CCTV footage. "I cannot take this insult anymore. All the allegations raised against me are false and fabricated. A student movement has been incited to remove me. There is a political mind behind this. I had informed police within an hour of the incident. CCTV footage has been handed over to police," Ghosh said. "I want the agitating students to rejoin duty soon," he added. Ghosh had personally visited Swasthya Bhavan to hand over his resignation. The students have also demanded that the post-mortem examination report of the victim and footage of the CCTV installed near the seminar hall from where the body was found be made public. The state government has canceled the leave of all senior doctors to handle the influx of patients, as Mondays typically see a high volume in outpatient departments. "Our senior doctors are on duty, and we hope they will handle the patient influx. They have been instructed to work until the situation stabilises," an official told PTI. Support for the striking doctors has come from across the country. The Federation of Resident Doctors' Association of India (FORDA) has endorsed the strike and called for a nationwide halt of elective services, while the West Bengal Doctors Forum has appealed to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for an impartial inquiry and increased security for healthcare workers.

It's university graduation time and bright minds are putting their hard-earned degrees and learnings into practice.It's also when business graduates think about the positive impact they would like to make on the working world.If my days at NYU Stern and my 38-year career at EY taught me anything, it's that you should never stop being a student and learn from everything – good and bad – that life throws at you.Here are three lessons that are never too late for anyone to put into practice no matter where you are in your career.<h2>1. Don't be afraid to change paths</h2>In the classroom, you take the course. In life, you need to veer off course many times.Curriculum is just another word for plan. Graduates not only demonstrate an ability to stick to the plan but excel at it. They turn in every assignment, study for every exam and fulfill every requirement. While that's an impressive achievement, in my experience, knowing when to adapt the plan, or move in another direction entirely, is just as important. A lot of people are surprised to learn that I didn't major in accounting or business. I majored in chemistry. When I was an undergraduate, I was convinced I wanted to be a doctor. I studied synthetic sequences in the library, and I ran titrations in the lab. By junior year, I was ready to put my new skills to the test: I scored an internship at a real hospital. Every day by 6 a.m., I was trailing attending physicians through their morning rounds. By lunchtime, I was scrubbed in to observe surgery. It was incredible. I learned a lot: First and foremost, that I'm not squeamish. I watched open heart surgeries, organ transplants and hip replacements — which, by the way, were done with a bone saw and mallet. Not for the faint of heart. But the most important thing I learned was that I didn't want to be a doctor. It took seeing medicine up close to realize it wasn't the life I wanted. After years of planning, I had to change course. Not everyone will have to alter their path completely, but I'm fairly confident that most will have to expand it. Technology is rapidly remaking the workplace. Some dream jobs may not exist today or may look completely different tomorrow. My advice is to be flexible, learn new skills and keep an open mind about the future. Which brings me to my second lesson.<h2>2. Success will be as much — and maybe even more — about collaboration than it is about competition</h2>Business schools often breed a competitive environment. But I've found that those who know how to collaborate, learn from others and contribute will better handle whatever challenge or opportunity comes next. Of course, you'll have to compete, but learning to successfully collaborate will help you succeed. Once I figured out that medicine wasn't right for me, I decided to pursue a career in business. There was only one problem: I had never taken a business, finance or accounting class. This led me to NYU and at the time, there was a program for liberal arts grads like me. By day, I worked at Arthur Young — one of predecessor member firms of the EY organization. By night, I took classes. Kind of like Batman, but with more spreadsheets. I learned a lot — both on the job and in the books. But really, I learned the most from my classmates. While most of us were all working for competing organizations during the day, in the evening we studied and produced projects together. We shared perspectives and helped each other out. This made each of us stronger and smarter. This has remained true throughout my career. Today, some of the most exciting work that we're doing at EY involves working with other organizations. We are collaborating with over 100 organizations in the EY alliance ecosystem to bring custom solutions and solve problems for clients and society.For example, we've teamed up with Microsoft to help remove barriers to employment for young people in underserved communities. We've even worked with the competition. We collaborated with the other Big Four organizations to develop environmental, social and governance metrics for the World Economic Forum to help organizations consistently measure their non-financial performance. The bottom line is you won't always have all the answers. Neither will your organization. <h2>3. Don't ever stop asking bold questions and challenging the status quo</h2>Re-entering the working world with a business degree not only sets candidates apart but sets them up to see the world differently and create a better future.In business school you learn to ask tough questions of professors, business, society, fellow students and, of course, yourself. But to create a better future, you need to continue to ask bold questions throughout your career. You need to challenge the status quo.This of course comes with challenges and setbacks. But the lesson often is that real change doesn't always come when you want it or even how you foresaw it in your plan. I know this from experience.For the past year, EY had been working on a massive initiative: Project Everest. The idea was to split the EY organization into two separate organizations: to better serve EY clients in the long-term by providing more choice and removing conflicts and giving EY people new and more rewarding growth opportunities.This was a bold move that would challenge the status quo and redefine the industry — something the competition has publicly said they would never do. Recently the EY organization decided not to move forward with Project Everest. Let me tell you, this was disappointing to me. But what we can't lose sight of is that we have uncovered unexpected learnings. We have unlocked a huge amount of innovation, identified people strengths, and opened new and better conversations with EY clients and regulators. No great change has ever taken place by defending the status quo. And to succeed, you must be prepared to fail and learn. I still believe we will transform to better serve EY clients, people and society — just at a different time, and in a different way.Eventually, you'll attempt your own Everest. It won't be easy. The clue is in the name. Remember, be patient. Persevere. Learn. Even setbacks move the needle.A commitment to lifelong learning will set you up for success at work and in life. By Saloni Bhatia New Delhi, Jun 25 () As the number of beds in private hospitals for COVID-19 patients is being increased, there are complains of acute shortage of manpower -- doctors, nurses and other paramedical staff - to treat coronavirus patients, putting further stress on the city's health infrastructure. Private hospitals say the shortage is due to lack of experts to treat coronavirus-related complications and because a large number of healthcare staff has to undergo quarantine. Many medical professionals have quit the jobs due to fear of infection or family pressure, while others have demanded more money and insurance. Demoralised staff, lack of government support, infection among healthcare workers, reluctance of families to allow their loved ones to work in COVID wards, patients preferring private facilities over government hospitals are also some reasons why private hospitals in the national capital are facing a shortage of staff. Amid a surge in coronavirus cases and the government's impetus on increasing beds by turning banquet halls and hotels into COVID facilities and attaching them with hospitals, the managements of these hospitals are faced with their own internal crisis. At the Delhi Heart and Lung Institute (DHLI), a quarter of nurses had quit even before the hospital was converted into a COVID facility while another 15 percent nurses quit after it was turned into a coronavirus facility, citing reasons like parental pressure and personal fears and anxieties, according to hospital officials. Similarly, at Saroj Super Speciality Hospital in Rohini, 40 to 50 per cent nurses stopped reporting to work citing reasons such as lack of transportation and refusal of families to let them be on COVID duty, said an official. "There is a shortage of doctors. Our hospital has a cardiac unit and our doctors are trained to handle those cases. But with a disease that is hitherto unknown, you need many kinds of specialists, like internal medicine, respiratory medicine specialists, etc. They are not available," said Dr KK Sethi, chairman, DHLI. "The resident doctors who handle emergency units are refusing to work. Nobody wants to join the hospital if you tell them they will have to work in COVID wards. Those who are willing to work are asking for exorbitant salaries, almost three to four times of what they would usually get," he said. The Delhi government is increasing bed capacity in the national capital to tackle coronavirus cases, which are expected to touch 5.5 lakh by the end of next month, but experts feel it's being done without keeping in mind the human factor. Dr RK Mani, Medical Director &amp; Chairman, Critical Care &amp; Pulmonology, Batra Hospital, said it is important to maintain an optimal doctor-patient and nurse-patient ratio. "Increase in bed without appropriate increase in staff is not ideal. There is a greater chance of infection to healthcare workers and among patients. There are the issues of loss of morale, exhaustion and burnout. They may get aggravated to the point that people may choose to leave their jobs," he said. Explaining the optimal ratio, he said in ICUs there should be one nurse for not more than three patients and outside the ICU, the ratio should be one nurse for not more than six to eight patients. Similarly, a doctor cannot see more than eight patients in the ICU. "Expanding capacity means that the human factor is not in the picture. Not looking at care to the caregiver is a fatal mistake we are making," he opined. Preference of patients to visit private hospitals over government hospitals is another reason that is burdening the private healthcare system. According to Dr Chander Prakash, president of the Delhi Voluntary Hospital Forum, in government facilities 60 per cent beds are vacant. "In private hospitals, staff was being given perks like vacations, pick and drop facilities, and other allowances. Now the government has capped the charges. From where will the hospital pay?" he asked. Prakash also rued that there has been an increase in the cost of PPE kits, sanitisers and masks. Sethi complained of the increase in use of disposables, masks and other items which has burdened hospitals. Adding to the list of problems is the rising number of healthcare workers being infected. As many as 313 healthcare workers have been infected at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital till now. On Tuesday, two nurses and three doctors tested positive at Saroj Hospital. Nearly 2,000 health workers including doctors and nurses have contracted COVID-19 in Delhi so far. Such is the scenario at DHLI that the staffers who have come in contact with other staff members who have tested positive are being called to work. "They are allowed to come but we monitor them and see that they are not developing symptoms. Two doctors, two nurses, and a receptionist have tested positive recently. The people at the front desk face the brunt as patients fight with them, cough at them. It's a very tough situation," said Sethi. Wearing PPE kits for six hours leads to exhaustion and not accessing washrooms has led to low immunity levels and burnout among healthcare workers, opine experts. On Wednesday, the Delhi government had directed all state-run hospitals to extend the terms of senior resident and junior resident doctors, who are going to complete their tenures, by six months to meet the shortage of doctors in view of the spike in coronavirus cases. Dr Girish Tyagi, president of Delhi Medical Association, said they have suggested to the government to rope in nursing students or interns. He also suggested that states where the number of coronavirus cases are less can also be asked for help by the government. "The city government can ask them to transfer some doctors and nurses here. The military has long been seen as the very force propping up the presidency of Maduro, who led the unorthodox economic policies that drove Venezuela into the ground and continues to refuse direct international aid for the collapsing country."Maduro is there because he's militarized the government," Helima Croft, a former CIA analyst who is now head of global commodity research at RBC, told Business Insider. "He has essentially made the military his copilot."Members of the National Bolivarian Armed Forces of Venezuela hold top cabinet positions and run state energy operations. And in turn for these positions, which come with access to food and supplies that have all but vanished from the crisis-ridden country, members <a href="https://www.yahoo.com/news/army-declares-loyalty-maduro-venezuela-braces-giant-demo-220213178.html">pledge political allegiance</a> to Maduro. But as the crisis spirals, some think loyalty among military members could wane. While still noting a "high degree of uncertainty" around Venezuelan <keyword id="6358883" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="politics">politics</keyword>, analysts from Fitch's BMI Research predict the United Socialist Party of Venezuela will be "removed from power by a military coup before the end of 2018.""We believe that the country's economic collapse will eventually leave the government completely unable to pay its bills, causing the patronage structures that have ensured the loyalty of the military to this point to fail," they wrote in a note to clients. The theory isn't new within the international community. Sen. Marco Rubio, a harsh critic of Maduro, wrote an <a href="http://www.miamiherald.com/opinion/op-ed/article202764209.html">op-ed in the Miami Herald</a> earlier this year that seemed to be encouraging a military coup. (Rubio was notably the subject of a possible assassination plot crafted by socialist party boss Diosdado Cabello last year.)"The most stable and peaceful path forward for Venezuela is for a united front of disaffected government insiders and military personnel, with popular support from the Venezuelan people, to remove Maduro and his inner circle from power," he wrote. And in neighboring Colombia, a top place of refuge for those fleeing the Maduro regime, President Juan Manuel Santos earlier this month said he predicted there <a href="https://www.reuters.com/article/us-venezuela-election-santos/colombias-santos-sees-regime-change-soon-in-venezuela-idUSKBN1IC1TD">would be a "regime change"</a> in Venezuela, without elaborating on how that might take place.But civilians who have watched the reach of the Maduro regime unfurl firsthand aren't convinced a coup is possible. "Our institutions are so destoyed - the armed forces and PDVSA, where negative mentality is most profoundly entrenched - that it's hard to see someone coming from there that has the moral, intellectual and technical capacity to come up with and drive the significant change we need," a Caracas-based doctor, who requested anonymity for security reasons, told Business Insider.Days after the election, 15 military officials were <a href="https://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-venezuela-military/venezuela-arrests-15-military-officials-over-vote-rights-group-idUKKCN1IP2E5">arrested for "political reasons,"</a> according to local rights group Penal Forum. And that was just the latest in a string of incidences that seem to signal military dissent. Internal military documents recently <a href="https://www.reuters.com/article/us-venezuela-election-military-exclusive/exclusive-in-run-up-to-venezuelan-vote-more-soldiers-dissent-and-desert-idUSKCN1IJ2HV">obtained by Reuters</a> show the number of soldiers detained for "treason, rebellion and desertion" more than tripled to 172 in the first four months of 2018. Croft said it's clear that discontent is rising in the ranks of the Venezuelan military, but remains skeptical a successful coup could take place since most perceived discontent seems to be among junior officers. "The senior officers will want to preserve the system of spoils they have in place," Croft said. "So, the question is, could you have another branch of the military effectively take control? Officer coups are often unsuccessful and bloody."Alejandro Velasco - a Venezuelan historian at New York University and author of Barrio Rising: Urban Popular Politics and the Making of Modern Venezuela - noted the military lacks credibility abroad as a transitional or democratic agent. He said the calls for a military coup come from a small portion of the international community who understand democracy in "a very narrow way.""They see democracy as a policy and not a process," Velasco said. Even if the military were able to overthrow Maduro, it's unclear what that would mean for the crumbling country. A university study last year found that about 90% of civilians were living in poverty and most lost an average of 25 pounds in body weight. And things have only gotten worse since then as <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/new-us-sanctions-on-venezuela-prevent-sale-of-debt-2018-5">sanctions pile on</a> and as operations at state-run oil company PDVSA, formerly lifeblood of the country, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.co.za/venezuela-maduro-could-be-overthrown-2018-4-1022579657">fall apart</a>. "It has the human development indicators of a country that's actually suffered a war," Croft said. "Someone is going to have to come in and save Venezuela.
