Prega News launches a TVC featuring brand ambassador Anushka Sharma

Rishikesh, Apr 23 () They had come to India on a spiritual mission but the coronavirus outbreak prompted a group of seven foreigners in Uttarakhand's Rishikesh to change their plans and serve the poor.<p> Every day, they arrange food items for distribution among hundreds of the needy as they "could not see people go hungry", an official said.</p><p>Rishikesh Municipal Commissioner Narendra Singh Quiriyal says as the lockdown left a number of people stranded here, the group planned to distribute food items among the poor.</p><p> "They decided to distribute 300 foodgrain packets every day among the poor families and migrant workers, instead of doing what they had planned--yoga," he said.</p><p> "All of them had come to Rishikesh to seek spiritual knowledge and learn yoga but the conditions created by the lockdown made them change their plans," he added.</p><p> The group comprises Henry Johnston from the UK; Tejasvi Giri, an NRI based in the US; Relinde Rijswijk from the Netherlands; Tarini Dagnimo from Venezuela; Alejandro Jerovic from Croatia; Eva Lena from Germany; and Varun Juneja, a London-based NRI.</p><p>They hand over food packets--including five kg of wheat flour, three kg of rice, two kg each of pulses, spices and salt-- to the municipal authorities every day for distributed among the poor, he said.</p> The packets are delivered to the needy by Rishikesh Mayor Anita Mamgain and Quiriyal himself. Amid lockdown, seven foreigners turn Good Samaritans for poor

<strong>New Delhi,</strong> Ahead of the Budget 2021, the government has hinted at rationalization of various taxes in the <keyword id="45911" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Aviation-sector">aviation sector</keyword>, which is among the hardest hit by the Covid-19 induced economic meltdown.<br /><br />"We are working on a long-term plan to help the sector by rationalizing various taxes. We are looking forward to make the ecosystem smarter and more efficient to make the <keyword id="31907" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Aviation">aviation</keyword> sector sustainable," said Usha Padhee, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation.<br /><br />Addressing a webinar on "Connecting the Dots-Recovery of aviation, tourism and hospitality" on Friday, she underscored the need for the sector to be geared for any challenges and said that policy rejig will also help it in the long run, if it is hit by a similar crisis in the future.<br /><br />The webinar was organised by Women in Aviation International - India Chapter.<br /><br />Highlighting the success of Udan scheme, she further added: "Though the pandemic has adversely impacted the aviation and allied sectors, yet we have managed to take steps towards recovery. We are systematically opening the air space for operations and the air bubbles have helped aviation sector to get 60% capacity of domestic sector back."<br /><br />She added that great solutions are borne out of crisis while delving into the fact how the industry has fast adapted to technology and transformed digitally.<br /><br />"The crisis has led to digital transformation for the aviation sector. Now we have 100% web check-ins and various technology driven solutions have been adopted to offer touchless experience to passengers," she quipped.<br /><br />Pre-Covid forecasts indicated that in 2036 aviation industry will provide 98 million jobs and generate $5.7 trillion in GDP. Various Taxes may rationalize in Aviation Sector in Budget 2021

<ul><li>Over 27 startups have been valued over a billion dollars this year, however, only one of them was led by women.</li><li>Out of the 136 unicorn startup founders in India, five of them are female.</li><li>Mamaearth, Mobikwik and Acko General Insurance are expected to be valued at over $1 billion in the next four years.</li></ul>It has been raising unicorns since the start of this year. So far 27 startups — ranging from diverse segments such as online pharmacy, social commerce, infrastructure-led marketplace, and more — have been valued over a billion dollars this year and entered the unicorn club.<br /><br />However, only one of them is actually led by women. This is significantly higher than $13 billion raised by the ecosystem in 2020. The massive interest of the investors has increased India’s unicorn tally to 56.<br /><br />The new estimates show that 150 startups will be valued at over a billion dollars in the next four years, by 2025. New Delhi, Jan 9 () SB Investment Advisers (UK) Ltd (SBIA) on Thursday named former Google executive Vikas Agnihotri as its first operating partner in India.
<p> "To continue its expansion in India and bolster portfolio companies, SBIA has announced the appointment of Vikas Agnihotri as its first operating partner to foster closer connections with the region's technology ecosystem and the SBIA's global network," a statement said.
</p><p> Agnihotri joins the company from Google, where he had a stint of about a decade in various leadership roles. In his last role, he served as the interim Country Head and Managing Director of Indian operations.
</p><p> He is also on the board of Mobile Marketing Association, the Advertising Standards Council of India, and Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI).
</p><p> After launching the SoftBank Vision Fund I in 2017, SoftBank Vision Fund II was announced last year to continue the strategic investment in technology and innovation globally.
</p><p> In India, SoftBank Vision Fund I has already invested over USD 10 billion in technology companies, including Grofers, Lenskart, Delhivery, FirstCry, Oyo, Ola, Paytm, and PolicyBazaar.

MS Dhoni invests in biz accounting app Khatabook

New Delhi, Dec 5 () Drug firm Mankind Pharma on Thursday said it has launched its generic Dydrogesterone tablets for treatment of infertility and pregnancy related complications in the Indian market.
<p> With the launch, the company has become the first Indian and second global firm to develop the drug, Mankind Pharma said in a statement.
</p><p> The company's product is generic version of Abbott's Duphaston tablets, it added.
</p><p> The manufacturing process of Dydrogesterone is very complex as it involves conversion of natural progesterone, the statement said.
</p><p> Progesterone is a natural hormone involved in menstrual cycle, implantation and in successful maintenance of pregnancy. 
</p><p> Any deficiency of progesterone during different stages of reproductive process can cause infertility, menstrual disorders and miscarriage, it added.
</p><p> "The launch of this drug is an important milestone for Mankind Pharma. We are the first Indian pharmaceutical company to develop this drug and second company in the world," Mankind Group founder and Chairman R C Juneja said.
</p><p> Currently the drug is being launched only in India, post that the company is planning to launch the drug in countries where it already has a presence, he added.
</p><p> Mankind has a strong presence in pharmaceutical, veterinary, OTC &amp; FMCG segments.

Penske Media buys majority stake in Rolling Stone magazine

<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>Stephen Lam/Reuters</span></p><p class="caption">A broken door is seen after it was damaged by a group of Occupy demonstrators during a May Day protest</p></div><p></p></div></div>Wells Fargo CEO John Stumpf on Wednesday <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/wells-fargo-ceo-john-stumpf-out-2016-10">retired</a> in the face of a <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/wells-fargo-john-stumpf-scandal-fake-accounts-perfect-storm-2016-9">massive scandal</a> that has dragged the bank down for over a month.</p><p>Stumpf stepped down after the news that employees of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/it-keeps-getting-worse-for-wells-fargo-2016-9">the bank opened 2 million accounts</a> in the name of customers without their knowledge from at least 2011 to 2015. This led to a $185 settlement with regulators,<a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/wells-fargo-ceo-john-stumpf-senate-baking-committee-hearing-scandal-2016-9"> two Congressional hearings</a>, and a large stock price hit.</p><p>The bank's executives <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/wells-fargo-scandal-not-hurting-business-doesnt-want-people-to-know-2016-10">admitted in a conference call</a> that the scandal had not seriously hurt the business of the bank, but they did not want the public to know that. Just a day after the call leaked, Stumpf was out.</p><p>Despite the retirement of Stumpf, the bank is nowhere near out of the woods.</p><h2>New CEO Sloan isn't exactly a "fresh start"</h2><p>For one thing, new CEO Tim Sloan isn't exactly coming in with a clean slate. Sloan has been <a href="http://www.wsj.com/articles/tim-sloan-the-ceo-replacing-wells-fargos-john-stumpf-1476363053">at the bank for 29 years,</a> mostly in the commercial lending business. Recently, however, he was promoted to chief operating office in November 2015.</p><p>Sloan was also the boss of former community banking head Carrie Tolstedt, who oversaw the division which included retail banking, where the fake accounts were created. Sloan then was part of the executive team that was in charge when Tolstedt retired in June, causing an uproar over the nearly $90 million in stock-based compensation that she left with.</p><p>Despite some of Tolstedt's compensation being clawed back by the board of directors, a long-time Wells Fargo executive who was the direct boss of one of the main targets of criticism does not represent a clean break from the scandal.</p><p>Credit Suisse banking analyst Susan Roth Katzke said it was "critical that Mr. Sloan be viewed as a fresh start," but if you wanted a new CEO without the stench of the scandal, Sloan is not that person.</p><h2>Lawmakers aren't done with the bank yet</h2><p>Additionally, as Sloan himself has acknowledged in interviews since being appointed as CEO, there are still outstanding questions from lawmakers that Wells Fargo has to respond to.</p><p>Both the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/wells-fargo-ceo-john-stumpf-house-financial-services-congress-hearing-2016-9">House Financial Services Committee</a> and the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/wells-fargo-ceo-john-stumpf-senate-baking-committee-hearing-scandal-2016-9">Senate Banking Committee</a> have given a list of follow-up questions for the bank. Given the comments from these lawmakers following the announcement of Stumpf's retirement, it is unlikely they will drop the pursuit.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>Win McNamee/Getty Images</span></p></div><p></p></div></div></p><p><a href="http://www.cnbc.com/2016/10/12/wells-fargo-ceo-stumpf-to-depart-dj-citing-source.html">In an interview with CNBC</a> Wednesday evening, Sloan acknowledged that he may even have to go in front of these same Congressional bodies to answer question about what he knew regarding the scandal.</p><p>Additionally, an investigation - <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/elizabeth-warren-statement-on-wells-fargo-ceo-john-stumpf-retirement-2016-10">as pushed for by Senator Elizabeth Warren</a> - by the SEC and Department of Justice could also ensnare Sloan, as noted by JPMorgan bank analyst Vivek Juneja.</p><p>"One concern we have is whether Tim Sloan will also get ensnared especially with the SEC review under Sarbanes-Oxley," the analyst said in a note.</p><p>Investigators could also take the Stumpf retirement as an admission of guilt by the bank and start asking why Stumpf was allowed to retire and not fired, according to Juneja.</p><p>"John Stumpf retiring may temper some of the headline risk but some politicians have already stated plans to continue investigations - the step down by Stumpf could represent an acknowledgement of the mistakes," wrote Juneja. "There may be questions about why he was allowed to retire."</p><h2>New accusations keep cropping up</h2><p>Finally, the scandal appears to be getting even deeper. <a href="https://news.vice.com/story/wells-fargo-bank-scandal">Vice News reported</a> on Tuesday that employees may have been opening fake accounts as far back as 2005, a full six years before the bank initially acknowledged the scandal began.</p><p>Other employees have also claimed the bank has taken action against them after they reported improper practices by coworkers. <a href="http://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2016/09/26/495454165/ex-wells-fargo-employees-sue-allege-they-were-punished-for-not-breaking-law">Lawsuits have also popped up</a> due to these alleged actions against whistleblowers.</p><p>Stumpf's retirement is a momentous move for Wells Fargo, of that there is little doubt. The Wells Fargo scandal is far from over

<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>Miraflores Palace/Handout/Reuters</span></p></div><p></p></div></div>Banks have an energy problem.</p><p>In a note on Friday, JPMorgan's Vivek Juneja broke down the results from the 2015 <a href="http://www.federalreserve.gov/bankinforeg/snc.htm">Shared National Credits exam</a>, which is <span class="s1">a Federal Reserve initiative to review and classify large syndicated loans.</span></p><p><span class="s1">The review captures any loan bigger than $20 million that is shared by three or more supervised institutions. </span>The SNC provides insight on so-called c<span>lassified loans, or loans with unpaid interest and principal outstanding that are in danger of defaulting.</span></p><p>According to the results of the SNC, classified loans to oil and gas companies jumped four-fold.</p><p>The report said: "O&amp;G classifieds rose to about 12% of total O&amp;G commitments, well above the 5.3% ratio of classifieds for all other loan commitments. The SNC review was done in the second quarter, and there have been further credit rating downgrades, defaults and oil price drops since then.</p><p>"Hence, we would expect the levels of classifieds to increase sharply further in the next SNC review and further increase in provisions at banks more exposed to O&amp;G loan SNCs."</p><p>As <a href=" http://www.businessinsider.com/banks-are-going-to-pull-the-plug-on-energy-companies-2015-9">Business Insider's Jon Marino reported</a> in September, banks are starting to pull back from lending to energy companies.</p><p>In September, banks were basing their lending decisions on an oil price of $48 a barrel, down from $77 a barrel last year.
