<ul class="summary-list"><li>Actor John Barrowman testified Monday in the sex-assault case against Kevin Spacey.</li><li>Barrowman discussed the moment that accuser Anthony Rapp told him about his interaction with Spacey. </li></ul>"Doctor Who" actor John Barrowman testified Monday about when he first heard Anthony Rapp talk about an interaction with Kevin Spacey in 1986 that would become the basis for his sex-abuse case against the actor.Years later, in 1998, when Rapp was in London performing in "Rent," he and Barrowman met up and the topic of Spacey came up, an actor that had both met in 1986, when Barrowman came to New York to see Rapp, his high school friend, in a Broadway show. Spacey was acting in another play on Broadway at the time, and invited Rapp and Barrowman out to the club Limelight after a show one night, even though Rapp was underage. During their 1998 meeting, Barrowman spoke about Spacey making a pass at him later that night in 1986, when they both went back to Spacey's apartment. While Rapp was in the bathroom, Barrowman says Spacey playfully pushed him onto the bed. But Barrowman says it didn't go further than that because he was "protective" of Rapp and didn't want him to walk in on him and Spacey in a compromising position. As soon as Rapp came out of the bathroom, he says he suggested they leave. Rapp them told Barrowman a similar thing happened to him shortly after that night, when he was invited back to Spacey's apartment for a party and the 26-year-old actor lay on top of him. It's all part of a sexual misconduct allegation Rapp is now suing Spacey over in federal court. Rapp was 14 at the time. "It was a very matter-of-fact conversation about what happened," Barrowman told the court, adding that Rapp showed no anger or disdain toward Spacey. Barrowman said he wasn't at the party where Rapp said Spacey made an unwanted pass. It wasn't until years after their conversation about Spacey that Rapp sent a direct message to Barrowman on Twitter letting him know he was going public with an assault allegation and asking if Barrowman, too, wanted to share his experience.Barrowman said he didn't feel the same way Rapp did."I was a big enough boy. I knew I was gay," he testified. "To be honest, I was flattered that an older man was showing any interest in me." Barrowman is perhaps best known for his television work in the UK, on TV series such as "Doctor Who" and it's spin-off "Torchwood." He was also in the Cole Porter biopic "De-Lovely."

In the video, Clarke can be seen at a promotional interview for "Doctor Who" alongside cast members Camille Coduri and Annette Badland. During the interview, they begin to discuss working on set when Clarke accuses Barrowman of repeatedly exposing himself."Barrowman is there, taking his d--- out every five minutes," Clarke said of Barrowman on set. He then proceeds to use a microphone as a prop to imitate Barrowman exposing himself to Coduri and Badland. Later, Clarke asks Coduri whether she remembers the time Barrowman exposed himself and "put it on your shoulder in the makeup truck?" to which she responds: "Yes, I do." Clarke then stands up and recreates this using his microphone.At the end of the interview, the moderator asks the group how Barrowman was able to get away with his behavior and Clarke answers: "because he's a gay man."Barrowman has had to apologize in the past for similar incidents. In 2008, he exposed himself during an interview on BBC Radio 1. Both Barrowman and the broadcaster issued official apologies. At the time, <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/media/organgrinder/2008/dec/02/bbc-radio-john-barrowman">Barrowman told The Guardian</a>: "I apologize for any offense I have caused. I was joining in the light-hearted and fun banter of the show and went too far. I was wrong to do this and it will never happen again."Insider has reached out to Barrowman for comment. Clarke, who is best known internationally for his performance on the long-running sci-fi show, was the subject of a Guardian investigation which described the accounts of 20 women who claim the actor sexually harassed them. He has strongly denied all allegations against him.In a statement provided to the newspaper, he said: "If anyone who has worked with me has ever felt uncomfortable or disrespected, I sincerely apologize. I vehemently deny any sexual misconduct or wrongdoing and intend to defend myself against these false allegations."Earlier today, British broadcaster Sky said it has halted production on the forthcoming series of the award-winning police show "Bulletproof," which was created by and also stars Clarke. It said: "Sky stands against all forms of sexual harassment and bullying and takes any allegations of this nature extremely seriously. Effective immediately, we have halted Noel Clarke's involvement in any future Sky productions."Ashley Walters, the co-star of the show, said he was shocked by the allegations. In a statement, he said: "Whilst Noel has been a friend and colleague for several years, I cannot stand by and ignore these allegations." Broadcaster ITV has also canceled plans to show the final episode of its Primetime drama "Viewpoint," which starred Clarke. And BAFTA has suspended the actor's membership along with the special Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema award he was given at this year's virtual ceremony.

Rapp, who played Mark Cohen in the Broadway show "Rent," first made the allegation in a 2017 article published in BuzzFeed News during the height of the Me Too movement. He alleged that Spacey lifted him onto a bed, grazed his buttocks, and then got on top of him — with Spacey's groin pushed up against his hip — before Rapp wriggled away and fled the apartment.
