The online application process has already begun and the last date to apply for these roles is September 3. The bank will conduct an online examination for the selection. The exam is likely to be held on October 9 at various centres — Delhi/NCR, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Kolkata, Patna, Bhubaneswar, Hyderabad, Mumbai/Navi Mumbai/Greater Mumbai/Thane, Bengaluru, Chennai, Bhopal, Ahmedabad. While applying online, candidates belonging to General/Economically Weaker Section/Other Backward Class will have to pay a non-refundable intimation fees of ₹850. Candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC)/Scheduled Tribes (ST)/Persons with benchmark disability (PWBD) don’t have to pay any intimation fee. Candidates who are shortlisted or selected for personal interview will be informed through email or SMS on their registered mobile number. Mumbai, Jun 10 () State-run lenders Bank of Baroda (BoB) and Union Bank of India (UBI) on Wednesday announced cut in their marginal cost of funds-based lending rates (MCLR) across all tenors. While the BoB's MCLR cut of 15 basis points (bps) is effective from June 12, the 10 bps revision in UBI's rates would come into force on June 11. Bank of Baroda has revised its one-year MCLR to 7.65 per cent from 7.80 per cent, a release said. Its six-month MCLR has been revised downwards to 7.50 per cent from 7.65 per cent earlier. In a separate release, UBI said its one-year MCLR has been reduced to 7.60 per cent from 7.70 per cent. The six months, three months and one-month MCLR of UBI have been cut to 7.45 per cent 7.30 per cent and 7.15 per cent respectively. The country's largest lender State Bank of India (SBI) has reduced its MCLR by 25 basis points across all tenors from Wednesday. Private sector lender HDFC Bank and state-run Bank of Maharashtra (BoM) have also slashed their MCLRs by 5 bps and 20 basis points respectively, from June 8. Last week, the second-largest state-run lender Punjab National Bank (PNB) had cut its MCLR by 15 basis points across all tenors. The recent cuts in MCLR by banks have come after the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) slashed repo rate by 40 basis points to 4 per cent on May 22. Bank of Baroda, Union Bank of India reduce lending rates

Banking services across the country are likely to be partially disrupted on October 22 as two bank unions will go on a 24-hour strike on the day. The strike has been called by All India Bank Employees' Association (AIBEA) and the Bank Employees Federation of India (BEFI) to protest against recent bank mergers, falling deposit rates and issues of job security. The Reserve <keyword id="6355303" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="bank-of-india">Bank of India</keyword> and <keyword id="6354731" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="state-bank-of-india">State Bank of India</keyword> will, however, not participate in the strike, sources in them said. Regional Rural Banks and cooperatives banks will also not participate in the strike as mergers do not affect them, sources said. Striking unions said they will shut the ATMs as these will be under the strike ambit.Bank of Maharashtra, Syndicate Bank, Bank of Baroda have expressed concern over their providing normal customer services. "We expect good response from all PSU and private banks," Bank Employees Federation of India (State Federation) General Secretary Joydeb Dasgupta said. SBI has claimed the impact of the strike on its operations will be minimum as most of its employees are not members of the participating unions. A SBI union leader said they are not participating in the strike and services will be normal. Dasgupta said SBI employees have offered moral support to the strike he said adding "It would have been good if SBI joined the strike".AIBEA and BEFI also oppose outsourcing of regular and perennial banking jobs and privatisation of banking industry, sources in them said. They have demanded adequate recruitment of clerical and sub-staff and urged for stringent steps for recovery of mounting bad loans, the sources added.

JP Morgan sets aside ₹17 crore to upskill 4,800 Indian graduates for banking jobs

Mumbai, Mar 30 () State-owned Union Bank of India (UBI) on Monday reduced its lending rates linked to external benchmark by 75 basis points (bps) to 7.20 per cent, in line with the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) recent repo rate cut. The new rate will be applicable for all floating-rate personal or retail loans (such as housing and automobiles) and floating-rate loans to micro, small and medium enterprises, according to an official statement. It will also be applicable for customers of Andhra Bank and Corporation Bank which will be merged into Union Bank of India from Wednesday, it said. UBI's asset liability committee took the decision at its meeting on Monday, the statement said. The move comes within three days of a 0.75 per cent cut in the repo rate by the RBI and similar moves by peers, including State Bank of India and Bank of India. AA HRS

The strike has been called by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU), an umbrella organisation for India’s nine major bank unions, and will involve the participation of around 1 million bank employees. It comes in addition to a strike coordinated by the All India Bank Officers' Confederation (AIBOC), which falls under the UFBU, in the last few days in pursuit of higher wages for bank employees. The government decided to merge the mammoth Bank of Baroda with the smaller regional players Dena Bank and Vijaya Bank in September 2018. While the reasons for the move were manifold, it was mostly aimed at creating a larger bank with a strong capital buffers and helping Dena Bank, which has a non-performing ratio of over 11%, improve its balance sheet and be taken off the central bank’s Prompt Corrective Action watchlist. The merged entity will become the third-largest bank in India and have nearly 9,500 branches. While the decision has been welcomed in some circles, it has largely been opposed by the employees of these banks. This is mostly due to the fact that the <keyword id="42411" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Merger">merger</keyword> is expected to result in a number of job cuts, especially since overlapping departments will be trimmed down to size, and the closure of branches that are in close proximity to one another. It could also provide further room for private banks to muscle in on the market share of public-sector banks. Separately, the Indian Banks Association (IBA), an industry lobby, has been engaged in negotiations with unions since November last year over a possible wage revision. A lack of progress led to <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/nearly-1-million-bank-employees-in-india-are-set-to-go-on-strike-this-week/articleshow/64366473.cms">a nationwide strike</a> by employees at the end of May 2018. The IBA upped its revision proposal from 2% to <a href="https://www.business-standard.com/article/economy-policy/indian-banks-association-offers-6-wage-hike-unions-reject-the-offer-118073100058_1.html">6%</a> at the end of July, but this was rejected as employees were expecting a raise along the lines of the 15% hike received in February 2015 during the last wage revision discussions. The IBA subsequently hiked its offer to 8%, which was <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/industry/banking/finance/banking/bank-unions-reject-ibas-8-wage-hike-offer/articleshow/66891829.cms">rejected by unions</a> on 1 December. The nationwide strike by the bank unions is expected to lead to a higher wage offer, although the IBA won’t have much space to maneuver since public-sector banks are burdened with a lion’s share of the country’s bad loans. A number of unions in India are protesting against the government’s decision to merge three state-owned banks

Mumbai, Feb 1 () Hours after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced plans to sell the government's remaining stake in IDBI Bank, its officers' association said any move to change the services conditions of the employees of the LIC-controlled lender will be opposed.
 Despite being a private sector bank, since LIC took the majority stake in January last year, IDBI Bank employees still enjoy service benefits on par with the rest of public sector banks (PSBs).
 Presenting the Union Budget for 2020-21, the minister said the government will be exiting IDBI Bank by selling its stake to retail and institutional investors through a market offering.
 The government currently holds 47.11 per cent stake in IDBI Bank, while LIC owns 51 per cent.
 The news sent the IDBI Bank stock gaining as much as 17.55 per cent to Rs 39.85 in intra-day trade. It closed the day 10.03 per cent higher at Rs 37.30 on the BSE.
 "As long as our service contract conditions are not changed we do not have any issues with the government move. We will seek a written assurance on this," IDBI Bank Officers Association General Secretary Vithal Koteswara Rao told .
 IDBI Bank was set up as a Development Financial Institution in 1964. Later, it was transformed into a Bank in 2004.
 Though the Reserve Bank re-categorised it as a private sector bank, the Department of Financial Services still lists it as a state-owned bank.
 "We want these service contracts to remain unchanged," Rao said.
 The union said it will also request the government to allow them to switch to other nationalised banks.
 In January 2019, LIC was asked to acquire 51 per cent controlling stake in IDBI bank.
 In the September quarter of 2019-20, IDBI Bank, which is under prompt corrective action (PCA) since May 2017, had received Rs 4,743 crore from LIC, and Rs 4,557 crore from the government.
 The bank had reported a net loss of Rs 3,459 crore in the said quarter, marginally better than Rs 3,602 crore in the year-ago period.

IDBI Bank union wants govt assurance on PSB-type job benefits

ATMs in <keyword id="6357660" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="hindi">Hindi</keyword>-speaking states will now generate receipts in Hindi, along with English, as the Home Ministry has asked the <keyword id="6354335" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="reserve-bank-of-india">Reserve Bank of India</keyword> to direct banks to procure only those ATMs that can print receipts in Hindi. 
 
The ministry has also instructed two major foreign suppliers of ATMs to upgrade the software in the existing ATMs to ensure printouts in Hindi. 
 The Department of Financial Services has written to the Home Ministry, saying the matter is under consideration. "We will be perusing this matter... the issue is that the printout of the receipt (from the <keyword id="48577" type="TECHNOLOGY" weightage="100" keywordseo="ATM">ATM</keyword>) should come in the language in which the transaction is being made," a Home Ministry spokesperson said. 
 At present, only ATMs procured by the <keyword id="63524" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Union-Bank-of-India">Union Bank of India</keyword> from Diebold firm have the facility to print in Hindi. 
 
The ministry says such a situation runs foul of the government's official language policy. "The main reason of this problem is non-inclusion of such condition of printing in Hindi and regional languages while floating the tenders for procurement of ATMs by banks. As per the official language policy of the Union, the banks are required to procure only that equipment which has the facility of working both in English and Hindi. It is therefore requested that all banks be instructed to ensure that all ATM machines being procured in future should have the facility of doing transaction and printing in Hindi in Hindi-speaking states and all existing machines should be upgraded to have such a facility," the ministry wrote in identical letters to the RBI, the Finance Ministry and the Indian Banks Association.

New Delhi, Jun 30 () The government on Tuesday approved a two-year extension to Union Bank of India managing director Rajkiran Rai G. With the extension of the term, he will continue as the MD of the bank till the superannuation - that is May 31, 2022 or until further order, according to a finance ministry notification. As per the Banking Regulation Act, the upper age limit for the managing director of nationalised banks is 60 year. Rai was appointed MD of Union Bank of India on July 1, 2017 for a period of three-years till June 30, 2020. Prior to his elevation as MD, he was executive director of Oriental Bank of Commerce. The extension of tenure comes at the backdrop of merger of Andhra Bank and Corporation Bank with Union Bank of India effective April 1 this year.
