The Airtel Xstream AirFiber was launched with a price tag of INR 2,500 and a 6-month plan for INR 4,435. Going by this, we expect the company’s offering to be priced competitively. Jio is expected to launch the Jio AirFiber at its upcoming annual general meeting (AGM), where it has made huge announcements in the past, including the launch of its 4G and 5G services. “We should hear the announcement during the upcoming AGM (annual general meeting Traditionally, Jio has launched new products with big bang offers and this may be no different,” said a person familiar with the matter. Like its past offerings, the new product is expected to be launched with offers. To recall, the company had offered free 4G services for a few months before its commercial rollout. Jio has reportedly already started testing the device in some cities where its 5G services are fully functional. The devices have reportedly been sent to selected users, including some of the company’s employees for testing. The Jio AirFiber will use different 5G airwaves acquired by the company – 700 MHz, 3300 MHz, and 26GHz. JioAirFiber launched in metros – plans and benefits versus the Airtel Xstream AirFiber

Jio AirFiber is a fixed wireless broadband offering that Ambani claimed can supercharge the number of customers that can be added into the network. “Home segment turbocharged by AirFibre and will target the untapped Indian home segment,” he added. This service using the 5G network and wireless technologies can bypass the need for last mile fibre, which continues to be a pain point for consumers. With <keyword id="3690255" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="jiofiber" source="Orion">JioFiber</keyword> the company can add 15,000 connections per day, Jio AirFiber can grow over 10 times with AirFiber to add 150,000 connections per day. This can also expand its addressable market over the next three years to over 200 million high-paying homes and premises. Its JioFiber which was launched in 2019 has 10 million subscribers. On an average, they consume 280 GB per month which is 10 times more than per capita mobile consumption. Its fiber is spread across 1.5 million kilometers across the country. “We are in a league of our own and far ahead of competitors,” said Ambani. Jio Platforms have around 450 million mobile subscribers. Each of these subscribers, on an average, consume around 28 GB per day. The company has also rolled out 5G services across 96% of census towns and will finish rolling out the service across the entire country by December. Five dimensions of growth Ambani identified five segments ahead for Jio. The consumer segment will be powered by Jio 5G and Jio Bharat, an affordable 4G phone. Apart from the home segment that will be turbocharged by Jio AirFiber. It also identified the business segment, wherein it will offer enterprise services that will go beyond connectivity to offer a full spectrum of digital services to businesses with managed services and more. Jio Platforms’ opportunity for global expansion with its Made in India tech stack which give wings to more innovation. “Collectively, these frontiers provide Jio an opportunity for multi-fold revenue and EBITDA growth in the coming years,” said Ambani. The fifth and most exciting ‘frontier of growth for Jio’ is the global AI revolution. “It’s reshaping the world around us, and sooner than we think, intelligent applications will redefine and revolutionise industries, economies, and even our daily life,” he said. The RIL group is rapidly augmenting its talent pool and capabilities to assimilate the latest innovations in AI, especially Generative AI. Reliance Jio to offer cloud PC services soon – Here’s everything you need to know

State-owned BSNL also reported a decline of 1.41 million subscribers. With this, Jio’s subscriber base has increased to 442.49 million subscribers, followed by Airtel with 375.24 million subscribers. Sunny Deol's 'Gadar 2' becomes third highest-grossing Hindi film, surpasses 'KGF2'

Age-related hearing loss is connected to a decline in cholesterol in the inner ear, according to a new study. The research was led by Mara Eugenia Gomez-Casati from the Institute of Pharmacology, School of Medicine, University of Buenos Aires-CONICET, <keyword id="18555796" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="mauricio-martin" source="Orion">Mauricio Martin</keyword> from the Institute of Medical Research Mercedes, and <keyword id="18555797" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="martin-ferreyra" source="Orion">Martin Ferreyra</keyword> from the <keyword id="18555799" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="national-university-of-cordoba" source="Orion">National University of Cordoba</keyword> in Argentina. Experiments published in the open-access journal <keyword id="920583" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="plos-biology" source="Orion">PLOS Biology</keyword> reveal that phytosterol supplements can act in place of missing cholesterol and prevent sensory impairment in mice. Outer hair cells (OHCs), a type of sensory cell in the inner ear, lengthen sound waves to increase their volume. Age-related hearing loss is caused by the decrease of these cells' capacity to stretch in response to sound as we get older. This prevents sound amplification. Researchers made the hypothesis that hearing loss might be connected to a loss of cholesterol in OHCs since cholesterol is a crucial component of the stretch response and because brain cholesterol has recently been demonstrated to decline with ageing. On mice, this theory was tested. First, the researchers measured the amount of CYP46A1 in inner ear OHCs because this enzyme helps break down and recycle cholesterol. As expected, they found more CYP46A1 in the inner ears of older mice than in younger mice, and consequently less cholesterol. Next, they showed cause and effect by inducing hearing <keyword id="18555798" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="l-outer" source="Orion">l Outer</keyword> hair cells (OHCs), a type of sensory cell in the inner ear, lengthen sound waves to increase their volume. Age-related hearing loss is caused by the decrease of these cells' capacity to stretch in response to sound as we get older. This prevents sound amplification.oss in young mice, as indicated by abnormal inner ear-cell output, by over-activating CYP46A1 with a drug. Finally, they tested whether increasing cholesterol in the brain could counter the drug. Since cholesterol itself cannot actually enter the brain from the blood, the researchers used plant-based cholesterol-like compounds called phytosterols which can. The young mice who got both the CYP46A1-activating drug and 3 weeks of dietary phytosterols displayed improved OHC function. As phytosterols can be found in many over-the-counter supplements, they could be a convenient way to combat age-related hearing loss. However, directly testing their effects on hearing loss in older mouse models as well as in humans will be necessary before more definite conclusions can be made. The authors add, "In the present work we show that: 1) aging triggers cholesterol loss from sensory cells of the inner ear, 2) a retroviral treatment widely employed for HIV/AIDS patients reproduces the cholesterol loss observed in aged individuals and leads to impaired outer hair cells' function and 3) we found that these defects can be partly reversed by phytosterols supplementation. Our findings are very promising because they provide the first proof-of-principle supporting phytosterols supplementation as a possible approach for prevention or treatment of hearing loss." For someone who was cajoled into taking up sport to shed weight, <keyword id="1115774" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="neeraj-chopra" source="Orion">Neeraj Chopra</keyword>'s rise to stardom from a Haryana village has been nothing short of spectacular, and at 25, he is on course to becoming one of India's greatest sporting icons. Two years ago, his spear soared high into the Tokyo sky as he became the country's first Olympics track and field gold medal winner. He was just 23, as he became only the second Indian to win an individual gold medal in the Olympics after legendary shooter Abhinav Bindra. A star was born overnight in a country that had for long craved for the ultimate success in sport's biggest platform. Before Bindra, who won the 10m air rifle gold in 2008 Beijing Olympics, India's eight other yellow metals at the Games had come from hockey, a team game. With his gold medal on Sunday in the World Championships, the legend of <keyword id="371" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="chopra" source="Orion">Chopra</keyword> continued to grow. He is now only the second Indian -- again after Bindra -- to simultaneously hold the Olympics and World Championships title. Bindra won the World Championships title when he was 23, and the Olympics gold at 25. With age on his side, Chopra is bound to achieve more success if he stays fit. He will have two Olympics and two World Championships before he turns 30. Superstardom after Tokyo gold The world junior championships triumph in 2016 heralded Chopra's rise on the world stage but it was the gold in Tokyo in 2021 that etched his name in Indian sporting history. The adulation showered on him was unprecedented; it was at par with if not more than some of the cricket icons. He was the toast of the nation and having attended so many felicitation programmes on one occasion exhaustion and fever forced him to leave a welcome function near his village. He later revealed that he had put on weight after missing training due to the many felicitation functions he had attended after the historic success in Tokyo. Chopra found himself among the most-searched Indian personalities online and ranked above the likes of <keyword id="6354486" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="virat-kohli" source="Orion">Virat Kohli</keyword> and Rohit Sharma in Google searches in India. After his Tokyo triumph, Chopra's brand value skyrocketed with top brand sponsors lining up for him. His brand value was compered with people like Kohli and his Instagram and Twitter followers swelled instantly. In December last year, Chopra dislodged the iconic world record holder sprinter <keyword id="28723" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="usain-bolt" source="Orion">Usain Bolt</keyword> as the 'most visible' and 'written-about' athlete in the world. Chopra led a star-studded field in terms of media coverage with 812 articles published in his name, followed by Jamaican sprint trio of Elaine Thompson-Herah (751), Shelley-Ann Fraser-Pryce (698) and Shericka Jackson (679). Athletics Federation of India president Adille Sumariwalla said recently that Chopra's Tokyo Olympics gold has made parents think that there is a career beyond cricket in India. Sumariwalla may not be off the mark as more than half a dozen Indians are currently capable of hurling the spear above 80m and three Indians, including Chopra, featured in the World Championships men's javelin final on Sunday. August 7, the day Chopra won gold in Tokyo, is now being celebrated as National Javelin Day. Consistency is the key for Chopra Consistency has been Chopra's forte since his Tokyo triumph as he has thrown above 86m in all the events he has taken part in the last two years. Of course, he has not competed in too many competitions -- just two this year before the World Championships -- but there has not been any drop in his performance. The least distance he has cleared since the Tokyo gold was the 86.69m while winning the Kuortane Games title in Finland in June last year. His best is the 89.94m which fetched him a second place at the Stockholm Diamond League, also in June last year. Compared to this, his closest competitors such as Tokyo Olympics silver medallist Jakub Vadlejch of Czech Republic has thrown below 85m many times. Of course, Vadlejch has featured in more than 20 competitions in the last two years, more than twice as that of Chopra. It's almost the same in case of Julian Weber of Germany, who was fourth in Tokyo and also in the 2022 World Championships. Anderson Peters of Grenada suffered a dip in form after winning gold in the 2022 World Championships -- his second after 2019 edition triumph -- and he could not even touch 80m in the qualification round here on Friday to make an early exit. Ultimate down-to-earth and people's champion Chopra may not be as articulate as the likes of Bindra but his 'I can't hurt or disappoint anybody' mindset can floor anyone. He would readily oblige fans in India and abroad for selfies and autographs. He will not say no to scribes wanting to talk to him. No doubt, the Tokyo Olympics success brought certain restrictions as far as access to him is concerned with 'guards' surrounding him often, but he remains down to earth as before. He is still accessible in the playing arena. Chopra speaks from the heart and not in a nuanced way. He would even candidly tell scribes that medals are not awarded in certain events. Mischievous chubby kid cajoled to shed flab But many years before he achieved greatness, Chopra was under tremendous pressure from his joint family of 17 to lose weight. He was all of 13 at that point and had become a mischievous boy, often fiddling with the bee hives on village trees and trying to pull buffaloes by their tails. His father <keyword id="18562002" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="satish-kumar-chopra" source="Orion">Satish Kumar Chopra</keyword> wanted something to be done to discipline the boy. So, after a lot of cajoling, the child finally agreed to do some running to shed the flab. His uncle took him to Shivaji Stadium in Panipat -- around 15km from his village. Chopra wasn't interested in running and almost instantly fell in love with javelin throw when he saw a few seniors practising at the stadium. He decided to try his luck and, as they say, the rest is history, which would now probably make its way into school textbooks.
