<ul class="summary-list"><li>Two <keyword id="85287" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Fox-News">Fox News</keyword> stars got into an intense shouting match on "Hannity" Wednesday night.</li><li>Longtime correspondent <keyword id="281508" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Geraldo-Rivera">Geraldo Rivera</keyword> called <keyword id="10327240" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="dan-bongino">Dan Bongino</keyword> a "son of a b----" live on-air.</li><li>"I wanna see the country burn? You son of a b---- ... You're a punk, Bongino," Rivera said.</li></ul><p>What started as a standard segment on looting between Fox News colleagues Geraldo Rivera and Dan Bongino Wednesday night quickly escalated into a shouting match before host Sean Hannity managed to cut to commercial.</p><p>Geraldo Rivera, a contributor-at-large with a tenure approaching 20 years at the network, lost his temper when podcaster, Fox News contributor, and <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/dan-bongino-joe-biden-boring-a-challenge-2021-3">frequent "Hannity" guest Dan Bongino</a> told him to "take a Valium" and "stop pretending to be a cop."</p><p>"There's a big difference between reporting on a baseball game and playing it, Geraldo. You never wore a badge, period," Bongino said after Rivera talked about <a href="https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/news/hsph-in-the-news/blacks-whites-police-deaths-disparity/">Black Americans being three times more likely than whites to be killed</a> in an encounter with police. </p><p>"Not interested in your reporting on it, because reporters deal with facts, and you brought the race card into it the other night when we had this debate, despite having no facts to back that up, and when I brought up the facts that there is no systemic racism-" Bongino continued before Rivera cut him off.</p><p>"I know more than you. What do you know?" Geraldo said after Hannity tried to simmer the panelists down. "What'd you have, a ten minute career as a cop? You've been running for office for the past 20 years!"</p><p>Bongino - who served in the NYPD from 1995 to 1999 and ran for Congress in 2012, 2014, and 2016 - continued to lament Rivera cutting him off and "promoting a race narrative" on police brutality.</p><p>"If there was a plague of police officers hunting Black men down at night, then I don't understand, how is that happening?" Bongino said as Rivera grew increasingly irritated. "Where is this massive body count?"</p><p>As the commercial music began jingling and crosstalk intensified, Bongino told Rivera "you just wanna see the country burn."</p><p>At that point, Rivera let loose with an expletive on the primetime program.</p><p>"I wanna see the country burn?" Rivera yelled. "You son of a b----! I wanna see the country burn? You punk! You're nothing but a punk. You're a punk, Bongino. You're a punk."</p><p>"You wouldn't tell me that to my face," Bongino replied.</p><p>"Oh yeah?" Rivera said as Hannity cut to commercial. "Let's see."</p><p>Hannity did not address the exchange after he returned from commercial break, cutting right to his interview with Republican Sen. John Kennedy of Louisiana.</p>

<p><div class="image-container float_right" style="width:400px"><div class="image"></div><p class="source"><keyword id="319703" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Marissa-Mayer">Marissa Mayer</keyword> in a Flickr-filtered photo</p></div>Right before launching into a fourth-quarter earnings call, <keyword id="6363100" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Yahoo">Yahoo</keyword> CEO Marissa Mayer—apparently not realizing her mic was live—complained about the hold music to her team, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/marissa-mayer-hates-yahoo-hold-music-2013-1">calling it "garbage"</a> and asking her team to "make a note" to fix it.</p>
<p>Good news! A company called <keyword id="1773134" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Jingle-Punks">Jingle Punks</keyword> has totally taken care of this situation already, writing custom hold music just for Yahoo.</p>
<p>We couldn't think of a more perfect fit for Mayer's vision of "a Web ordered up for you."</p>
<p>Jingle Punks even hired one-hit wonder Snow, the Canadian rapper known for "<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NtILxBszyf8">Informer</a>," to perform the song.</p>
<p>The <a href="http://www.jinglepunks.com/">New York-based startup is a serious operation</a>—it's done music for NBC's "The Voice" and the Academy Awards.</p>
<p>But this is just ... wonderful.</p>
<p>The only thing it's missing is the actual audio clip of Mayer criticizing the hold music. We don't know if anyone captured that moment—it's not on Yahoo's archived recording, obviously.</p>
<p>If Yahoo doesn't use this as its hold music for its next quarterly call, we shall be sad.</p>

<ul class="summary-list"><li>I don't want to forget who I was before my wife and I had kids.</li><li>But to stay connected to my pre-kid identity, I have to make a conscious effort.</li></ul><p>As a dad of two young girls, I do so much parenting that sometimes it feels like that's all I ever do.</p><p>It starts first thing in the morning. During <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/how-to-help-child-succeed-school-year-as-parent-2023-8">the school year</a>, we're up at the unreasonable hour of 6 a.m. so my oldest can catch the school bus before the little one heads off to pre-K. In the summers, we get a tad more sleep, but the mornings are still a frantic race to get everyone off to their various activities, sports, and camps.</p><p>As the kids have gotten older, our <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/guides/health/mental-health/bedtime-routine">bedtime routine</a> swallows up more of the evening. My 9-year-old often stays up late, which can be really fun when we play games and hang out, but it has started to carve into a time that used to be reserved for my wife and me to relax, spend time together, or catch up on chores — and yes, doing chores sadly sometimes passes for me-time these days.</p><p>Then come the weekends — finally, a "break!" A break from work, but also a <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/mom-brings-back-nineties-summers-no-technology-structure-2024-7">break from structured childcare</a>. We feed and entertain the kids from dawn 'til dusk and often re-enter the grind on Monday more exhausted than ever.</p><p>I love every chaotic moment of being a dad, and I wouldn't trade it. But in all the madness, it's easy to lose sight of <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/annual-solo-trip-identity-outside-being-mom-2024-6">who I am on my own</a>.</p><p>Simply put, there's just not much time for my own hobbies, time with friends, or many of the things that used to make me me. But that doesn't mean I don't try! There are a few key areas where I've really dug in my heels and refused to let that part of me slip away.</p><h2 id="d672f85b-c137-4b58-8521-6b9efd4cec5a"><strong>Spending time with my pre-kid and non-parent friends is crucial</strong></h2><p>One thing that never fails to invigorate me is <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/how-catch-up-with-friends-spend-quality-time-things-do-2024-2">time spent with my friends</a> who either don't have kids, or who knew me before I did.</p><p>Don't get me wrong; as parents, our little village of other parents who are struggling with the same things we are is critical to our survival and our mental health. But there's something so refreshing about being around people who remind you there's more to life than bowel movements and cartoons, more to talk about than drama at day care and how hard it is to feed picky eaters.</p><p>I feel like a different part of me comes alive when I'm around old friends, and I let myself get swept up in nostalgia or fall back into the rhythm of familiar inside jokes. In short, it's pure, easy joy.</p><p>It's not always easy to carve out adults-only time with friends, but it's always worth it.</p><h2 id="850ec66f-7b6a-4541-9b6f-2d5c0b00a708"><strong>I always make time for exercise</strong></h2><p>I'm 37 and have no delusions about chasing the elusive six-pack, but exercise still has an important place in my life. It's one of the very few times during the week that's just for me, and while I'm probably more likely to hurt myself than set a new personal record at this stage, the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/exercise-is-good-for-our-mental-health-but-more-is-not-always-better-2018-8">mental benefits</a> are massive.</p><p>Of course, there's some vanity to wanting to look my best, but I think it's also about wanting to stay attached to my former self — who would probably be appalled if he knew when the last time was that I bought myself clothes or had a long, relaxing shower.</p><h2 id="9824d44e-cb1b-4b23-9d7c-932b50276731"><strong>Music and hobbies remind me I have my own interests</strong></h2><p>I spend so much time listening to music with my kids that my own tastes can get swallowed up. There's the obvious stuff that I can't wait to turn off once they're out of the car, like Doc McStuffins jingles (though, I admit, they're catchy).</p><p>But then there's <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/accident-broken-collarbone-ribs-europe-taylor-swift-eras-tour-2024-7">Taylor Swift</a>, who we all love. But that's not really <em>my </em>music, it's a shared interest with my girls. I have to proactively remember to put on stuff that's only for me (2000s pop-punk, for the record) with no hope that anyone else in the family will like it (they won't), because it's purely for my own enjoyment.</p><p>Hobbies? Most parents I know have forgotten what a hobby is. But I pick them up frequently, even if they usually fall by the wayside quickly. What's important to me is that I keep trying, whether re-downloading that Chess app or dusting off my acoustic guitar.</p><p>I usually don't stay <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/how-to-find-hobbies-connect-find-creativity-2023-6">interested in the same hobby</a> for long, but I like to give myself permission to pursue one when the itch strikes and the schedule loosens up. I don't feel guilty for wasting time on it or abandoning it once again, either.</p><h2 id="f9d719e3-515f-4fcc-82b4-c0e7b7dbdd55"><strong>Knowing how to be your own person doesn't make it easy</strong></h2><p>I rarely seem to have enough time or mental energy for these things, even though I know they're worthwhile.</p><p>And then, of course, most of the solo time I do get often comes at the expense of my wife, who has to work double-time in my absence. I do the same for her so she can <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/yoga-classes-solo-travel-mindfulness-culture-2023-11">go to yoga</a> on the weekends or catch up with friends. These quid pro quos work great, but they make it almost impossible for us to get quality time together. And, crucially, that's probably the most important area of our pre-kid life we want to cling to.</p><p>It's so important to both of us that we see each other as more than just "mom" or "dad." That's a battle we're always fighting, but at least we're fighting it together.</p><p>I think it's essential to feel like I'm my own person and not just an automaton whose sole mission is to provide meals and entertainment to my children. Doing things just for me makes me a happier human, and being a happier human will — hopefully — make me a better parent in the long run.</p>

This Startup Makes Synthetic Eggs - So We Tried Them!

<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>If "Mad Men" is anything to go by, working in the ad industry back in the 1960s looked like an awful lot of fun.</p><p>There's the drinking, the sex, the fashionable clothes, the fancy restaurants, the big creative ideas (that often look as though they were made up on the spot<span style="line-height: 1.5em;">), and the exciting inter-office dramas.</span></p><p>The <keyword id="35666" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="advertising">advertising</keyword> industry would probably like to portray that the darker side of its "Mad Men" history - the alcoholism, misogyny, and bitter rifts between co-workers and competitors - are just that: Legacy of a bygone era.</p><p>But what's it really like? Are there still the three Martini lunches, sex in the supply closet, big macho pitches? With the seventh and final season of "Mad Men" just around the corner, we decided to ask.</p><h2><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_left"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>Better. But not well enough.</p><p>Leeanne Leahy, president of the VIA Agency, said the industry still has a long way to go: "Today the culture is more tolerant and accepting of women, but it isn't inviting enough. The industry talks about having women at the helm, and there are more women leading agencies. However, as an industry, we've created an environment that is accepting of women's success but doesn't actively invite it."</p><p>DDB Worldwide's Kassaei agrees. "I believe that we still have to work on gender equality in the industry. We need more women as creative leaders," Kassaei said.</p><p>The ads targeting women have taken a more realistic approach, however, according to Lou Aversano, CEO of Ogilvy &amp; Mather New York: "We've gone from ads that told women how they could be better wives if they used a certain product to creative work that inspires women to be confident in who they are. Ogilvy's 'Real Beauty' campaign for Dove is a great example of this."</p><h2>How have those big pitches changed?</h2><p></p><p>They're still as bombastic as ever. DDB Worldwide's Kassaei says you still have to "wow" the room.</p><p>Tor Myhren, worldwide chief creative officer at Grey, told us: "Pitches haven't really changed. They're like our version of the Olympics. You work day and night for weeks or months, all for the chance to get on that high-pressure stage for two hours and sell your idea. They're competitive as hell, and in my opinion, the best part of the job."</p><p>But Myhren says some of the antics Don Draper pulls in his presentations would be "laughed at" today: "We're past the whole 'dramatic delivery' thing. Just get to your idea, make it relevant, and make it crystal clear. Never mind the drama."</p><p>There's still an element of Draper, but there's more sophistication to pitches now, VIA Agency's Leahy told us. "'Mad Men' always showed Don Draper capturing the imagination of a client, which hasn't changed; our job is still to show them what's possible. That said, there are more rational components to pitches than there once were. We're more involved with non-emotional components, such as procurement and the competitive nature of the pitch. Instead of working in a vacuum, we prefer to work with clients when possible."</p><h2>And what about the day-to-day? Is it still as high-octane is it looks in "Mad Men?"</h2><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>"There is no day to day," RTO+P's Red says. "It's more like day and night."</p><p>DDB Worldwide's Kassaei described his average day: "My day starts at 5am with conference calls to DDB's Australian and Asian markets. I arrive to the office at 7:30am, but I don't have time for 'Mad Men'-style 'lunch meetings' or breaks. If I am not in the office, I am flying. Last year, I was on a plane for 300 days out of the year. I am still smoking, but outside the building."</p><p>Not only have days got longer, but they're more intense, Ogilvy's Aversano told us: "You have to factor in digital, the use of data, media channels. There are more players and more ideas on the table. We have so many more channels and platforms to consider - so much more than Don Draper and his team had to think about."</p><h2>Advertising looked like it was revered as a career back in the 1960s. What are perceptions of the industry like now?</h2><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_left"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>Views here we split down the middle. </p><p>We'll start with the middle. Ogilvy's Aversano told us: "In some ways, the perception hasn't changed at all. it is still viewed as an art practiced by the experienced few but in many ways with the advent of digital and the rise of the Super Bowl as advertising's day in the sun it has become the sport of many. There is far more scrutiny, awareness and thought put into what we do and how we do it."</p><p>VIA Agency's Leahy said: "Back then, the industry was deemed much more glamorous, like it was covered in fairy dust. It was the rock and roll of the business world. Today, it's viewed as less sexy ... However, companies used to think of advertising as a sales tool; today, they regard advertising as a true strategic imperative for business development. Advertising is now seen as a component for driving business growth, not just communication."</p><p>But with a polar opposite view, Myhren said: "Oddly, despite its horribly depressing plot lines and despicable characters, Mad Men has made advertising sexy again.
