<keyword id="64275" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="jindal-stainless" source="Orion">Jindal Stainless</keyword> Ltd (<keyword id="74606" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="jsl" source="Orion">JSL</keyword>) on Thursday said its consolidated net profit has more than doubled to Rs 764.03 crore in the September quarter, on the back of higher income. It had clocked Rs 347.02 crore net profit in the year-ago period, JSL said in a regulatory filing on Thursday. The company's total income increased to Rs 9,828.97 crore in the second quarter of the current fiscal as against Rs 8,776.61 crore a year ago. JSL's expenses were at Rs 8,944.04 crore, higher than the Rs 8,335.52 crore it reported a year ago. In a separate statement, JSL Managing Director Abhy per cuday Jindal, said, "Our domestic sales increased year-on-year (y-o-y), buoyed by the government's push for stainless steel in strategic sectors." "As we wait for the <keyword id="19198542" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="national-stainless-steel-policy" source="Orion">National Stainless Steel Policy</keyword>, we are confident that the per capita consumption of stainless steel in India will increase from the current 2.8 kg in the coming years," he said. Chinese imports have increased by nearly 55% year-on-year, which highlights the unchecked dumping of subsidised and substandard Chinese products in the Indian market, the MD said. The industry expects the government to take notice of the continuously increasing imports from China, which is hurting the sector, especially the MSMEs and as well the government's vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat, he added. During the September quarter, the company's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation was at Rs 1,231 crore, up by 80% y-o-y. "The board also approved the proposal to explore the option for selling/liquidating/divesting equity stake in its subsidiary, PT Jindal Stainless, Indonesia (PTJSI), at Gresik, Indonesia," the statement said. "The decision was taken in the wake of unfavourable market conditions in Indonesia due to the lack of a level-playing field and competition with Chinese products," it said. Most of the Indonesian market is dominated by Chinese players, and therefore, major markets such as the US and the EU have levied severe trade protection measures on exports of stainless steel products from Indonesia. The Board of Directors also approved an interim dividend Re 1 per equity share (face value of Rs 2 each) for FY24. The record date for determining the entitlement of shareholders has been set as October 28. The dividend shall be paid on or before November 17, the company said, adding that the aggregate payout will be nearly Rs 82.34 crore. The sales volume for the second quarter stood at 543,619 metric tonnes, up by nearly 26% y-o-y, owing to robust domestic demand. Ahead of the upcoming festive season, the company's sales in the auto segment -- besides other consumer-facing segments -- witnessed an uptick, the statement said.

But he told BI the steer-by-wire and rear-wheel steering make it "easy to drive" and "feel like a small vehicle."Lamar MK, a Cybertruck owner in North Carolina, said that the flatter steering wheel design was more comfortable for his hands."It makes maneuvering the vehicle so smooth," MK said.Tommy Huynh from Austin said the steering provides a "tight turn radius" and the vehicle accelerates like a sports car.<h2 id="66bb1d6d-1ffd-4407-9c91-d2bc4e5500a8">Customers say they're often left in the dark when it comes to company communication</h2>Many Cybertruck owners waited years to receive their truck after placing a preorder — and some owners said they are still waiting for promised updates or parts to arrive. Several also owners told BI that the company could improve its customer support — whether it was being more transparent about delays or communicating updates.Stephen Kapusta, a self-described "Tesla fanboy" from Orlando who owns the top-of-the-line Cyberbeast variant of the truck, said he doesn't want to have to wait an unknown amount of time for his Cybertruck off-road light bar add-on to arrive after paying over $100,000.Jason Burtman, a Cybertruck owner from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, received his vehicle in the last couple of weeks and said it was "incredible." But he's still figuring out how to get the FSD update without access to home WiFi from his garage.Jay O'Brien, a Cybertruck owner from Kansas City, Missouri, said the truck exceeded his expectations. But he's still waiting for his wall charger to be installed and new wheel covers that were supposed to come a month after he got the car in May. He said the wheel covers don't matter — but "what does matter is setting expectations to a consumer" and not delivering on them.Tesla did not respond to a request for comment from BI.<h2 id="55339d69-93fe-4c31-ad06-a910836463d0">Cybertruck owners feel like celebrities — but you might get the finger while driving</h2>While it doesn't happen often, getting flipped off seems to be a right of passage of sorts for most Cybertruck owners. Some also reported getting cut off or cursed at by strangers.<a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/cybertruck-owner-finger-injury-splint-frunk-teset-2024-5">Cybertruck TikToker Joe Fay</a> told BI the bulk of the negative reactions he receives have been online or on the road. O'Brien said he had the opportunity to participate in a local parade with it. O'Brien said bringing a quick bit of joy to people is his favorite part of owning the EV.But the celebrity-like status comes with its downsides too. Kapusta said people's curiosity and interest go too far when they start looking inside his window.O'Brien similarly said when he doesn't have time to stop and show people around the car, people get upset and there's a "missed expectation.""There's nothing special about me," O'Brien said. "But I feel like I know what celebrities feel like more now."

One is that metals stocks are always linked to crude oil prices and, right now, they have jumped $84 per barrel, which is probably at a recent high. Usually when crude prices go up, base commodity prices also go up, which is a good thing for metal companies,” said Deven R Choksey, managing director at KR Choksey Investment Managers told Business Insider. Currently, the crude oil prices are at $85 per barrel, trading at a 2-month high after the US oil inventory fell for the seventh straight week to levels last seen in 2018. Note that crude oil is a basic input in the production process and is used to fuel cars and planes for transportation and generate electricity for use in production of goods and services. So any change in the price of oil will impact the costs for the company and hence increase the product price. Another reason for the rise in metal prices is that companies had cut down production in recent weeks because they thought the demand wasn’t strong enough. “Anywhere across the globe particularly Europe production capacities at being pared, they (companies) are not increasing the production be it because of environment issues or covid related restrictions. Many companies have been keeping their production capacity at a lower level, which is resulting in higher prices of the product due to shortage of supply,” added Choksey. <ul><li> <keyword id="45581" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="JSPL">JSPL</keyword>, in a statement, said its subsidiary "<keyword id="106159" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Jindal-Steel">Jindal Steel</keyword> and Power (Mauritius) Ltd (JSPML) has accepted a binding offer from Templar Investments Limited to divest its entire stake in its Oman asset <keyword id="9494254" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="jindal-shadeed-iron-and-steel-co-llc">Jindal Shadeed Iron and Steel Co LLC</keyword> (JSIS Oman)". </li><li>The enterprise value of the deal is over USD 1 billion, it said. The transaction is subject to approval from shareholders of JSPL and lenders of JSIS Oman, among others. </li><li>The company said it expects the transaction to close approximately in a month. JSPL, a part of the OP Jindal Group, has presence in steel, power, mining and infrastructure sectors. </li></ul> The shares of Jindal Steel and Power plunged 2% at ₹158.15 after the company said it will offload its entire stake in Oman-based subsidiary for over $1 billion (Rs 7,500 crore). JSPL, in a statement, said its subsidiary "Jindal Steel and Power (Mauritius) Ltd (JSPML) has accepted a binding offer from Templar Investments Limited to divest its entire stake in its Oman asset Jindal Shadeed Iron and Steel Co LLC (JSIS Oman)". The enterprise value of the deal is over USD 1 billion, it said. The transaction is subject to approval from shareholders of JSPL and lenders of JSIS Oman, among others. The company said it expects the transaction to close approximately in a month. JSPL, a part of the OP Jindal Group, has presence in steel, power, mining and infrastructure sectors.
