JSW will provide financial and technical support to IIT Bombay for constructing the JSW Technology Hub. IIT Bombay is expected to complete the construction by FY28. The JSW Technology Hub will be established within IIT Bombay’s Center of Excellence in Steel Technology (CoEST). Its key objective would be to achieve expansion of quality steel production while curbing carbon emissions. “Our thrust on R&amp;D and product development has made us the largest and preferred supplier across categories. IIT Bombay will also institute the Sajjan Jindal Steel Professor Chair to enable focused training and research on new and emerging technologies in steel manufacturing. One is that metals stocks are always linked to crude oil prices and, right now, they have jumped $84 per barrel, which is probably at a recent high. Usually when crude prices go up, base commodity prices also go up, which is a good thing for metal companies,” said Deven R Choksey, managing director at KR Choksey Investment Managers told Business Insider. Currently, the crude oil prices are at $85 per barrel, trading at a 2-month high after the US oil inventory fell for the seventh straight week to levels last seen in 2018. Note that crude oil is a basic input in the production process and is used to fuel cars and planes for transportation and generate electricity for use in production of goods and services. So any change in the price of oil will impact the costs for the company and hence increase the product price. Another reason for the rise in metal prices is that companies had cut down production in recent weeks because they thought the demand wasn’t strong enough. “Anywhere across the globe particularly Europe production capacities at being pared, they (companies) are not increasing the production be it because of environment issues or covid related restrictions. Many companies have been keeping their production capacity at a lower level, which is resulting in higher prices of the product due to shortage of supply,” added Choksey. The transaction is subject to approval from shareholders of JSPL and lenders of JSIS Oman, among others. </li><li>The company said it expects the transaction to close approximately in a month. While MNCs were among the earliest to employ more women at the senior management levels, Indian companies are no exception now. As per a report by The Economic Times, Indian promoter driven organisations are on an aggressive bid to get high potential women talent at CXO level. "Initially, the whole push came after it became mandatory to have women directors on the board. But this process triggered thinking in this direction,” Anindita Banerjee, executive director at RGF Executive Search has told the financial daily. 
 Now this direction is definitely signalling a change! Companies like Mahindra &amp; Mahindra, Hindustan Zinc Limited, <keyword id="106159" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Jindal-Steel">Jindal Steel</keyword> &amp; Power Limited and Schneider Electric have given mandates to search firms to hunt for potential female CXO talent. Jindal Steel is currently scouting for a woman candidate to head its finance department, director group-HR, <keyword id="211707" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Rajeev-Bhadauria">Rajeev Bhadauria</keyword> has informed the ET.

Shares of <keyword id="145740" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Jindal-Steel-and-Power">Jindal Steel and Power</keyword> Limited (<keyword id="45581" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="JSPL">JSPL</keyword>) went down more than 6% during intra-day trade after the Central Bureau of Investigation (<keyword id="6354572" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="CBI">CBI</keyword>) registered a case regarding alleged cheating and criminal conspiracy. 
 
The CBI registered a First Information Report (FIR) against JSPL and unidentified public servants for alleged excess and illegal mining beyond the approved area. 
 
The case is based on a preliminary investigation registered by the CBI in September 2013.

Six bidders who qualified to compete for the two mega power projects, proposed to be set up in Odisha and Tamil Nadu, want to quit unless the bid terms are reworked. 
 The <keyword id="76451" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Adani">Adani</keyword> group, <keyword id="6534486" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="CLP">CLP</keyword>, <keyword id="46306" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="GMR-Group">GMR Group</keyword>, <keyword id="115438" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Jindal-Steel-Power">Jindal Steel &amp; Power</keyword>, <keyword id="47954" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="JSW-Energy">JSW Energy</keyword> and <keyword id="45008" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Tata-Power">Tata Power</keyword> have expressed unwillingness to submit their price bids on the ground that the terms of the standard bid document would make the projects unfeasible. 
 
All the six firms are members of the Association of Power Producers, an umbrella organisation representing a majority of private power firms in the country. The association has written to Power Minister Piyush Goyal, asking for a ‘comprehensive’ review of the bid terms. They have also asked for a review of the government’s DBFOT (design, build, finance, operate and transfer) model. 
 
“Six out of the nine bidders for both Tamil Nadu and Odisha’s ultra mega power projects (UMPPs) have approached us to take up the matter with the power minister, stating that in its present form of DBFOT, it would be extremely difficult to further participate in the bidding process to submit the price bid,” said Ashok Khurana, the association’s director general. 
 
The government had relaxed the standard bidding norms for the UMPPs last year to attract developers.
