No charges are expected to be filed, according to police.</strong></li></ul><p>Syracuse men's basketball head coach Jim Boeheim was involved in a car accident Wednesday night in which he struck and killed a man walking on Interstate 690, according to the Syracuse Police Department. The accident was <a href="https://www.syracuse.com/crime/2019/02/syracuse-coach-jim-boeheim-hits-kills-man-walking-on-i-690.html?utm_campaign=syracuse_sf&amp;utm_source=twitter&amp;utm_medium=social">first reported by Syracuse.com.</a></p><p>The incident occurred after Syracuse beat Louisville at the Carrier Dome Wednesday night.</p><p>The Syracuse Police Department released a statement on Thursday saying the man, Jorge Jimenez, 51, had gotten out of his car after striking a guard rail. As Jimenez walked within close proximity of the car, Boeheim tried to avoid the car, which was in the middle of the road, and struck Jimenez.</p><p>Jimenez was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.</p><p>According to police, Boeheim passed an alcohol test and is cooperating with a police investigation. Syracuse basketball coach Jim Boeheim hit and killed a pedestrian in a late-night car accident, police say

<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container float_right"><div class="image on-image"><img src="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/52a236756bb3f75d6e68f747-1200-924/jim-boeheim-2.jpg?maxX=620" border="0" alt="Jim Boeheim" width="620"><p class="source"><span>Getty Images</span></p></img></div><p></p></div>Syracuse head basketball coach Jim Boeheim has been suspended nine games by the NCAA for "multiple infractions" <a href="http://www.syracuse.com/orangesports/index.ssf/2015/03/ncaa_penalizes_syracuse_basketball_for_rules_violations.html?hootPostID=8a59595df5ea2db7e750d96b494bb809">according to John O'Brien of Syracuse.com</a>.</p><p>In addition, both the Syracuse football team and basketball team have been placed on probation for the next five years and the basketball team must surrender three scholarships a year for the next four years. However, the teams have not been banned from any postseason games beyond Syracuse's self-imposed ban on the basketball team for this season.</p><p>In an attempt to be proactive in response to the NCAA's investigation, the university imposed the postseason ban on the basketball team for this season <a href="http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/12280636/syracuse-basketball-team-self-imposes-postseason-ban-year-response-ncaa-investigation">back in February</a>. At the time, Boeheim said the school was "acknowledging that past mistakes occurred."</p><p>The basketball program will have to forfeit some wins from five different seasons between 2004 and 2012. NCAA suspends Syracuse basketball coach Jim Boeheim for 9 games

<p>During the press conference following Sysracuse's loss to Connecticut, ESPN's Andy Katz asked <keyword id="1768735" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Jim-Boeheim">Jim Boeheim</keyword> a question. Boeheim refused to answer the question, saying he will "answer anybody's question except [Katz']." Then, after a pause, Boeheim says it is because Katz is "an idiot" and "really, a disloyal person."</p>
<p>The reason for Boeheim's comments were unclear, however some are speculating that it is a response to Katz' reporting on the eligibility of James Southerland who missed several games after being declared academically ineligible. He has since been cleared to play.</p>

Jim Boeheim Calls ESPN Reporter An 'Idiot' And 'Disloyal,' Refuses To Answer His Question

He didn't realize until after the game that his last name, made famous by his Naismith Hall of Fame father, was misspelled on the back.</p><p>"<span>It's kind of ironic," the freshman told <a href="http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/25288670/syracuse-misspells-boeheim-back-jersey-coach-son">ESPN's Myron Medcalf</a>.</span></p><p><span>According to Medcalf, university officials were not sure how the misprint occurred, especially given that the school supplied its own jerseys for the team.</span></p><p><span>"Not a rational [explanation]," Syracuse spokesman Pete Moore told ESPN. "The event did not supply it."</span></p><p><span>Perhaps that's why Boeheim failed to live up to his namesake Thursday night. The walk-on guard and former three-star prospect provided just one point and one assist in the 76-83 loss, but fellow freshman Jalen Carey poured in 26 points and seven rebounds to lead all scorers.</span></p><p><span>Even with two other Orange players reaching double digits, Syracuse could not hold off UConn's evenly-distributed scoring effort after falling behind in the first half. Star guard Tyus Battle converted on a contested layup to cut the Huskies' lead to five with just 21 seconds remaining in the contest, but UConn sank all of its subsequent free-throw attempts to seal the win.</span></p><p><span>First-year Huskies head coach Dan Hurley was understandably excited about the win:</span></p><p><span>"I thought they played harder than us," Coach Boeheim said after the game, per <a href="https://nypost.com/2018/11/15/dan-hurleys-uconn-rebuild-gets-major-jolt-in-syracuse-stunner/">the New York Post's Howie Kussoy</a>. "We got out-toughed. The 18-year-old was happy with the arrangements Paul drew up for him.</p><p><span>"They hooked me up," Bazley told the <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2018/10/22/sports/darius-bazley-g-league-new-balance.html">New York Times' Marc Stein</a>. "This will also be fun. It's not like I'm going to be doing something I don't want to do."</span></p><p><span>Critics - including Boeheim himself - have questioned the move. The veteran Syracuse head coach told&#xa0;<a href="https://twitter.com/GoodmanHoops/status/1055102657965244416">Stadium's Jeff Goodman</a>&#xa0;"LeBron did a nice job helping his client. It is LeBron's client, right?" LeBron quickly responded:</span></p><p><span>According to Stein, Bazley often receives questions as to why an NBA prospect would spend three months leading up to the NBA draft in a cubicle rather than on the court, but his agent isn't too worried:</span></p><p><span>"There will be some things he misses out on, but I'm not worried at all - not with the talent and skill set he has," Paul said. "No matter what we do this year, he still has to be developed in the NBA. You see it even with the highest draft picks - it's not like you come into the league as a rookie and set the league on fire."</span></p><p><span>Whether or not this decision will affect Bazley's draft stock in June remains to be seen, but Bazley is confident in his ability to forge his path and emerge successfully.</span></p><p><span>"</span>This is my risk," Bazley said. LeBron James' agent Rich Paul blames Bazley's $1M internship on 'broken system'

The question was seemingly in reference to a rant from Syracuse head coach <a href="http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/18855645/syracuse-coach-jim-boeheim-want-acc-tournament-games-moved-back-greensboro">Jim Boeheim on Wednesday on the importance of the tournament being held in a big city</a>, as opposed to Greensboro, North Carolina.</p><p>Williams said because of the impact of social media, it's less important to play in a big market. In the process, he took a swipe at Trump (<a href="https://twitter.com/joeovies/status/839927996110757888">via Joe Ovis of WRAL Sports Fan</a>).</p><p style="padding-left: 30px;">"It used to be much more [important to play in a big market] than I think it is now. Now everybody has got social media, and we don't need The New York Times to find out what in the dickens is going on in our country. You know, our president tweets out more bulls--- than anybody I've ever seen. We've got social media.</p><p style="padding-left: 30px;">"In the old days, there's no question it was the media capital of the world, but I'm not sure it is right now."</p><p>Williams is certainly not the first coach to jab Trump. <ul class="summary-list"><li>Zone defense, a common scheme in <keyword id="1737297" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="College-Basketball">college basketball</keyword>, is on the rise in the <keyword id="6361805" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="NBA">NBA</keyword>.</li><li>Two NBA assistant coaches told Insider that they talked to Amanda Butler, the head coach of <keyword id="1853171" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Clemson">Clemson</keyword>'s women's team, about playing and beating zone defense.</li><li>Butler has connections throughout the NBA and is a respected voice in basketball because of the execution of her teams.</li></ul><p><keyword id="971210" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="Charlotte-Hornets">Charlotte Hornets</keyword> assistant coach Jay Hernandez found himself with an unusual amount of time off this past year.</p><p>The <a href="https://www.insider.com/how-2019-20-nba-season-battled-coronavirus-controversy-death-2020-5">NBA suspended its season</a> for four months for the coronavirus pandemic. The <a href="https://www.insider.com/which-nba-teams-wont-play-when-season-resumes-2020-6">Hornets then weren't invited to the Disney bubble</a> because they were too far out of the playoff race.</p><p>With this time off, Hernandez wanted to study the game and strengthen the Hornets' strategies. Among his to-dos was to further understand zone defense - not just how to apply it but also how to beat it.</p><p>One of his first calls was to Amanda Butler, the head coach of Clemson's women's basketball team.</p><p>Butler and Hernandez first connected when Hernandez was an assistant with the Orlando Magic, and Butler was the head coach of the Florida Gators. When Butler took her team to watch the Magic practice, she and Hernandez began talking strategy and never really stopped.</p><p>"It's an ongoing conversation," Hernandez told Insider. "She'll pick my brain about various concepts and player development and things like that. And anytime I need her for anything, she's there."</p><p>Zone defense was all the rage in the NBA bubble. The <a href="https://www.insider.com/heat-zone-defense-affecting-kemba-walker-playoffs-2020-9">Miami Heat used it generously</a> and to great success during their run to the NBA Finals.</p><div type="image" title="celtics heat playoffs" height="1210" width="1614" msid="80592229" hostid="261"></div>Long a defensive strategy used by college teams, zone defense - in which players defend areas of the court instead of specific players - was always thought to be too hard in the NBA because of the skill of the players and the defensive rules. Recently, however, it's been on the rise.<p>"Teams are so good offensively that you've got to just throw something at them, at least for a couple of possessions, that makes them think, 'What's going on here?'" Butler told Insider.</p><p>Nearly two decades in college basketball has made Butler, the 2018-19 ACC coach of the year, one of the game's most respected minds. A tour of the NBA in 2017 in between jobs at Florida and Clemson helped her establish relationships in the pros. Now, as NBA teams seek to implement a college-style scheme, Butler has become a resource to teams trying to broaden their playbooks.</p><h2>Butler coaches basketball with a high level of execution</h2><p>Coaches and basketball strategists often say that good outside shooting is required to beat a zone defense. So, why is zone being used more in a league that has put a premium on shooting?</p><p>"This may sound a little contradictory," New Orleans Pelicans assistant coach Bob Beyer told Insider, "But I think a lot of times teams use it just to get the offense out of rhythm, oddly enough. All of a sudden, the team shows a zone, and where teams could run their man-to-man offense and generate great three-point shots, a lot of times what happens is, they see the zone, and it's almost like they freeze for a bit, and they don't feel as comfortable."</p><p>The NBA doesn't track specific zone usage. But <a href="https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/29963960/nba-playoffs-why-teams-combating-offensive-revolution-going-zone-defense">according to ESPN</a>, zone defense usage was up 2.2% during the 2019-20 season. It's likely higher this season. It's not unusual to turn on a game and see at least a possession or two of zone, a sharp turn from 10 years ago.</p><div type="image" title="bob beyer pistons" height="1395" width="1859" msid="80592230" hostid="261"></div>Beyer is another NBA coach who has called on Butler for help with zone defense. Butler met Beyer during her 2017 NBA tour when she paid a visit to the Detroit Pistons. The Pistons offered Butler rare access, allowing her to sit in on coaches meetings and practices.<p>Butler and Beyer grew close during that time in Detroit and have maintained their relationship, even as Beyer moved on to the Oklahoma City Thunder, Sacramento Kings, and now the Pelicans.</p><p>"We've continued to stay in contact," Beyer said. "It could just be a random phone call about maybe this situation, or a check-up call: 'How are you doing here?' I do really value our friendship to this day."</p><p>Butler recalled Beyer asking her about zones when they met for lunch during Kings training camp in 2019.</p><p>"I can remember him asking, like, 'Hey, [Kings coach Luke Walton] wants to run more zone. What do you guys do? I haven't thought about zone since I coached college.'</p><p>Butler added: "We talked a little bit of college zone: what's happening, how we use it, what we see, what works best. I don't know how much it really helped them or not."</p><p>It's hard to pin down specific advice Butler has given her NBA friends. Hernandez and Butler told Insider that their conversations could range from fairly general to hyper-specific: rebounding in a zone defense, trapping in a zone defense, applying a zone in transition. It all depends.</p><p>"That's kind of the flow of some of those conversations," Butler said. "Sometimes [it's] more specific than others, and other times just like, 'Hey, what are you guys doing now with <em>this</em>?' And then it launches into 14 different branches of things."</p><p>Hernandez, who reaches out to coaches throughout <keyword id="6312906" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Womens-college-basketball">women's college basketball</keyword>, said: "Sometimes it's just as easy as presenting an idea and saying, 'Hey, this is something that I just recently saw, what do you guys think about it?' And just bring it to the table so we can have that dialogue."</p><p>The irony is Butler doesn't consider herself a "zone coach" - at least not in the way Syracuse men's basketball coach Jim Boeheim might because of his team's frequent use of zone.</p><p>But just as important to knowing zone defense is understanding how to beat zone defense.</p><div type="image" title="amanda butler clemson 2" height="1110" width="1480" msid="80592231" hostid="261"></div>As zone usage has increased in the NBA, so, too, have teams' offensive playbooks - Hernandez said the Hornets frequently have two plays drawn up: a play against man-to-man coverage and a play against zone.<p>Hernandez said he respects the execution in women's college basketball.</p><p>"When you watch some of these high-level college women's games, they're playing so many different types of defenses, and they have to prepare for all of those things at every level," Hernandez said. "So each game brings something new. So, I just really respect the college game because they tend to try a lot more things than even at the NBA level."</p><p>Both Butler and Hernandez said execution is partly due to more practice time in college.</p><p>Butler also said that their offensive packages are already in place because her teams see zone defense so often.</p><p>"We've already seen a ton of zone," Butler said. "So, it's just part of your offensive preparation. You always have to have a zone package, and then within that zone package, okay, what are our [plays] to get threes? What are our paint-touch looks? What are we doing to generate the shots that best serve our teams?</p><p>"So it's part of our preparation every year. No matter what your schedule looks like, you know you're going to see it."</p><h2>Butler has no NBA aspirations - yet.</h2><p>Butler has contacts throughout the NBA. Billy Donovan, now the head coach of the Chicago Bulls, is a friend from their days at Florida. Butler met Mark Daigneault, now the head coach of the Thunder, through Donovan. She often calls them looking for advice. She noted that coaches like Butler and Donovan don't ask her for advice, perhaps because they also coached college before jumping to the NBA.</p><p>Naturally, this leads to the question: Does Butler intend to pursue a job in the NBA?</p><p>"I've got an amazing job, and I love where I am," Butler said, calling Clemson a "special place." She added: "I do love coaching, and I'm a big fan of the NBA game. And like I said, obviously have a lot of friends in the league and study the league."</p><p>Still, Beyer and Hernandez said Butler has the chops to coach in the NBA if she wanted to.</p><p>"She's a very talented coach and a very intelligent woman," Beyer said. "A thing that I really like about her is she's an active learner. She's always tries to look at different situations, analyze them, always to make her team better. And I think with her communication skills, if that was a route that she wanted to pursue, I think it would be a possibility, yes."</p><p>"Obviously, she's really happy at Clemson," Hernandez said of Butler. "But she's somebody I would hire in a heartbeat if I ever got the head coaching job at the NBA level. She knows that."</p><p>He added: "I wouldn't be surprised if she was already [been] approached on it."</p><p>Butler said while she loves the NBA game, perhaps more people can start appreciating the game she coaches now.</p><p>"I don't think NBA guys are watching a ton of college basketball, especially not college women's basketball," she said. "Hopefully, we can continue to grow our game, so that does change."</p>

<p>While the game will be best remembered for Boeheim's actions (see below), the foul has sparked plenty of debate and shows how a new rule has only added to the confusion of block/charge calls in college basketball.</p>
<p>Here is the new rule:</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">"<strong>A defender must establish legal guarding position before the airborne shooter begins his upward motion to shoot or </strong><strong>pass.</strong>"</p>
<p>Previously, the defender only had to establish his position prior to the shooter leaving the floor. According to the NCAA, the intention of the new rule is to "provide for more offensive freedom" and "provide clarity to make this call more consistently." In theory the shooter could be in his "upward motion" before he leaves the ground.</p>
<p>Unfortunately, the wording in the new rule is less clearly defined.</p>
<p>Notice that the defender must establish his position before the shooter begins his <em>upward motion, </em>and not necessarily when the shooter begins to leave the ground. Depending on your point of view, those two rules do not mean the same thing.</p>
<p>Here is the play in question.</p>

<p><br />When does Fair begin his upward motion? If we are going to say it is when he actually starts moving up, then the defender appears to have already established his position. In the above clip, Fair doesn't actually start moving up until just prior to contact*.</p>

<p>However, you can also make an argument that the <em>upward motion </em>began when he placed the second hand on the ball and began the process of taking the shot. That moment occurs much earlier and the defender is still sliding to his right.</p>

<p>There is a big difference between when Fair started the motion that led to the shot and when he actually started moving up. There are also moments in between that could be construed as the start of the "motion."</p>
<p>Even beyond the idea that basketball officials are being asked to suddenly change the way they have been making the already tough block/charge call for years, the new rule is not clearly defined and is just creating more confusion.</p>
<p>While Boeheim may have gone too far and taken away any chance for Syracuse to win the game, he probably had good reason to be upset.</p>

Controversial Call That Cost Syracuse A Win Against Duke Exposed A Serious Flaw In New Rule

<p>"I've never sent an email and I never will," he said, <a href="https://twitter.com/EricFisherSBJ/statuses/356786738120765440">according to Eric Fisher of Sports Business Journal</a>.</p>
<p>Selig is nearly 79-years-old, and doesn't have to learn how to send emails if he doesn't want to.</p>
<p><keyword id="23398" type="SPORT" weightage="60" keywordseo="Baseball">Baseball</keyword> has much bigger problems with modernity — the game's lack of instant replay and long running times, for example — than email.</p>
<p>But this still doesn't look great.</p>
<p>Selig is actually just one of a handful of notable sports figures who've gone on the record to say they don't use email.</p>

MLB Commissioner Bud Selig Has Never Sent An Email

<p><a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/syracuse-university-is-the-top-party-school-in-the-country-2014-8" target="_blank">Syracuse University just nabbed the top spot</a> on The Princeton Review's list of the best party schools in the U.S.</p>
<p>Although Syracuse <a href="http://news.syr.edu/statement-from-syracuse-university-regarding-princeton-review-party-school-ranking-47005/" target="_blank">isn't particularly proud of the title</a>, any Orange-man or woman will assure you that there are plenty of explanations why Syracuse deserves the place of honor. We would know, we both are proud alums. </p>
<p>Here are a few reasons why Syracuse is the best party school in the country:</p>

Everyone party hops from yard-to-yard (and bouncy house to keg stand) until the night culminates in Block Party, a big concert held in the Dome, which has included recent performances by 2chainz and Kesha.</p>
<p>The University even started giving out free beer and food at Walnut Park in 2012."Mayfest is the happiest day of the year," <a href="http://www.thenewshouse.com/story/bounce-houses-beer-and-glitter-make-mayfest-2013-memories" target="_blank">Syracuse alumna Megan Corbet says</a>."It's like Christmas." (Ironically, Mayfest is almost always held in April.)</p>
<h3>2. Juice Jam starts first semester off with a wild time.</h3>

<h3>3. If you get lucky at Faegan's Flip Night, all your beers could be free.</h3>

<p>Every Wednesday, Faegan's Pub right off Marshall Street hosts Flip Night.<span style="line-height: 1.5em;">When you order a drink, the bartender flips a coin, and if you call it correctly, your beer is free.</span></p>
<p>Faegan's is also known for Senior Sundays, which means a super-cheap Long Island Iced Tea special, and World Beer Tour Tuesdays, where you pay $3 for a pint and try to drink every beer on the menu throughout the course of the semester.</p>

<p>Syracuse winters may be almost unbearably freezing, but they also mean sledding on cafeteria trays down Crouse hill, building giant snow creatures in your front yard or at your dorm, and snowball fights in Thornden Park.</p>
<p>(And yes, even when it's freezing, you'll still see students trekking across slippery sidewalks at 11 p.m. to "warm up" at parties.)</p>
<h3>5. You can always find a house party (often with a theme).</h3>
<p>Because Syracuse has a lot of student housing close together on several streets (like Euclid, Ackerman, Livingston, Sumner, and Clarendon, to name a few), you can always find something going on and open on a Friday or Saturday night, even when you're an underclassman.</p>
<p>Whether you're packed into an attic or a basement, you'll be greeted by some combination of flip cup, beer pong, dancing, and Jungle Juice. Ugly sweater party, anyone?</p>

<p>Because the Castle Court apartment complex is so close to all the sororities and fraternities on Walnut, a lot of members live there, and will host big outdoor parties that fill the entire lot.</p>
<p>Bouncy houses (and Afroman) have been known to make appearances.</p>
<h3>7. Pre-gaming, literally</h3>
<p>On game days all across campus, massive tailgating sprees break out. Fraternities even host all-day ragers, like Alpha Tau Omega's annual pig roast, to kick-off specific rivalries or just a season in general.</p>
<p>And of course, the aforementioned Castle Court gets involved. Claustraphobics or anti-social types should avoid the area entirely.<span style="line-height: 1.5em;"></span></p>

<p>"Bleeding Orange" is a major part of the SU experience.This year, students camped out for 14 days in subzero temperatures before the Duke game.</p>
<p>Basketball coach Jim Boeheim himself even made an appearance: He and his staff handed out donuts and coffee to all the dedicated (and exhausted) fans.</p>
<h3>9. Playing beer pong in your South Campus apartment.</h3>
<p>After freshman years spent in tiny dorms, hordes of students turn to South Campus living for their sophomore (and even junior) years. Located by the athletic complex, South campus acts as its own little community, complete with a dining hall, gym, and laundry facilities, all just a five minute bus ride from main campus.</p>
<p>With no RAs and mostly athletes living there, kitchen tables converted to beer pong games become a routine sight. The Inn Complete, a bar(n) with a trivia night, also resides on South Campus for the 21-and-over crowd.</p>

<p>Once you get inside the Carrier Dome, more shenanigans await. Not only is Syracuse's stadium loud, it's one of the few that sells beer. And believe it or not, students can buy brews using their university accounts.</p>
<p>Even though the money you add to your "SUpercard" (See what the administration did there?) comes straight from your own bank account (or your parents'), it still feels like you're drinking on the university's dime.</p>
<p>And trust us, no sight parallels a sea of orange at the record-breaking 2010 Cuse-Villanova basketball game.</p>
<h3>11. Trivia night at the Inn Complete lets you feel like a brainiac while downing free popcorn and cheap brews. </h3>

<p>Every Thursday, the South Campus bar puts on a trivia night where teams of 10 students put their knowledge to the test with tough questions on any topic, while endlessly refilling their bowls of free popcorn and buying each other rounds of beer. (Added bonus: Because Inn Complete bartenders get paid through the school as an on-campus job, there's no tipping required!)</p>
<p>The grand prize: A jumbo plate of delicious appetizers, a free bar tab, and a whole lot of glory.</p>
<h3>12. The annual <a href="http://www.thenewshouse.com/story/totally-fabulous-drag-show-2013-crowns-winner" target="_blank">Totally Fabulous Drag Show</a> brings out the best burlesque students have to offer.</h3>

<p>Every winter, Pride Union hosts the fiercest competition on campus, encouraging teams of students to dress in drag and put on a lip-synced, choreographed show. While the performers bump and grind on stage, students throw tips and faculty judges rate their acts.</p>
<p>Shangela Laquifa Wadley, a former contestant on "RuPaul's Drag Race," has emceed the event several times, as has another former contestant, Jujubee.</p>

<h3>13. If you want some variety from the typical 'Cuse party, ESF students know how to have a good time, too.</h3>
<p>Because Syracuse and SUNY ESF practically share a campus, it's easy to become friends with students from the other school, which means a whole new group of people to meet and party with.</p>
<p>Every year ESF students have their own version of Mayfest, called Redfest, which features live music and lots of body painting.</p>

<p>Although under new management recently, another bar, Lucy's, kept the best item on the menu - the Fishbowl.</p>
<p>Fishbowls, which actually come in classic fishbowl-shaped glass containers, formerly sold in two sizes: small (one pint) and large (about two and a half pints). They also came in about 20 different flavors,the <a href="http://www.thenewshouse.com/restaurant-review/lucys-retired-surfers-bar">Newshouse</a>, an SU publication reports. Personal favorites include the "Georgia Peach" and "Key Lime Sunset."</p>
<p>The bartenders would also throw in multiple straws, sometimes of the bendy variety, so you could share with your homies. Braving the rum/vodka drink alone might be too much and not enough all at the same time.</p>

Write on the walls of the campus' favorite bar at a gloriously cheap happy hour.</h3>
<p>Ask anyone - students fondly look upon Chuck's Cafe, a divey bar just a short walk from both the dorm and residential areas on campus - oh, and Jimmy John's.</p>
<p>From 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. every weekday, Chucks-goers can throw down $3.50 for a pitcher of Honey Brown Lager, poured with love by their favorite bartenders, Thor and Flower. The fried pickles ain't too shabby, either.</p>
<p>Once they've gorged themselves on carbs, students can grab an aerosol can or permanent marker and leave their marks on the graffiti-ed walls. The bouncers will probably turn the other cheek. Or you can play it safe with the pool table, basketball shooting-game, and dart board.</p>

Riding (and falling off) the Bull at Daisy Duke's</h3>
<p>Not only the campus bars offer the opportunity for tipsy memories. Benjamin's on Franklin, the Syracuse SUDS Factory, and The Blue Tusk all give students a taste of downtown Syracuse. One of these bars, however, Daisy Duke's, stands out.</p>
<p>On the side of the bar opposite from the laser-soaked dance floor, patrons can ride a mechanical bull for free. But first, you have to lose your shoes - and your dignity.</p>
<h3>17. Sampling the finer drinks in life at Al's Wine and Whiskey Bar.</h3>

<p>Speaking of downtown Syracuse, Al's Wine and Whiskey bar adds an element of class to the usual drinking scene.</p>
<p>Usually reserved for "over-it" seniors and grad students, the hip speakeasy offers a literal wall of whiskey, live music, perfectly worn leather couches, and a pool table in the back.</p>
<h3>18. The "Heaven and Hell" Party</h3>
<p>Speaking of fraternities, Phi Psi's annual Halloween event, the Heaven and Hell party, is about as exclusive as events get on a college campus.</p>
<p>Students plan weeks in advance to find a guy who knows a guy who knows a brother in the house who can give them some tickets - which you actually need. Phi Psi keeps a pretty strict guest list, with hired security guys checking tickets, along with student IDs, at the entrance.</p>
<p>For the record, we're both GDI's (or in Cuse speak, "god damn independents") not involved in Greek life. But who can resist the chance for a ridiculous costume, free beer, and a slippery dance floor?</p>
