Modi's stern warning to tax evadersPrime Minister <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword> on Sunday used his ' <keyword id="6364850" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Mann-ki-Baat">Mann ki Baat</keyword> ' radio programme to deliver a stern message - don't evade taxes and come clean by September 30. Modi also used the platform to mount an attack on the <keyword id="1575" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Congress">Congress</keyword> to mark the 41st anniversary of the declaration of Emergency. 

	 
	"In our big cities, when we see some of the houses that are worth crores, there seems to be some discord. Some people make well over 50 lakh rupees a year, but don't declare it. They do this to avoid paying their taxes. I am calling on all of them to come forward and declare their true incomes and pay their taxes by September 30," said PM Modi in the radio address. 
	 

	"There will be no leniency after that," he added. Modi also touched upon criticism that his 'Mann ki Baat' programme has been facing, saying such criticism was possible only in a democracy. He then attacked the Congress over the Emergency, calling its declaration the darkest moment for India's democracy. "All the rights of citizens were taken away. The country was turned into a prison. Many political leaders like <keyword id="6385361" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Jayaprakash-Narayan">Jayaprakash Narayan</keyword> were thrown in jail," he said. 
	He then said democracy was India's biggest strength and called for it to be strengthened. 
	 

	PM Modi touched on a number of other topics in his monthly radio address. He expressed pride over the three lady officers who have become the first batch of women fighter pilots. 
	 He expressed pride over the fact that none of them were from the metro cities, or even the capitals of their respective states.He also congratulated ISRO for its achievement of launching 20 satellites in a single stroke, and expressed pride over the SATYABAMASAT and SWAYAM, the microsatellites built by the students of Chennai's <keyword id="3444822" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="satyabama-university">Satyabama University</keyword> and Pune's College of Engineering respectively. He also praised the country's scientific community for its efforts in working towards a better India.

10 Indians who received Asia’s coveted Ramon Magsaysay Award

<keyword id="19909031" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Telangana" source="keywords">Telangana</keyword> <keyword id="19924917" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Chief-Minister" source="keywords">Chief Minister</keyword> A <keyword id="19931047" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Revanth-Reddy" source="keywords">Revanth Reddy</keyword> has assured leaders of the <keyword id="20208359" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sikh-community" source="keywords">Sikh community</keyword> that the state government will carefully consider banning the release of <keyword id="19941210" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="Kangana-Ranaut" source="keywords">Kangana Ranaut</keyword>'s upcoming film "<keyword id="19900245" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Emergency" source="keywords">Emergency</keyword>." A PTI report says that this decision will be made after seeking legal advice, as stated by government adviser Mohammad Ali Shabbir. The assurance came after a delegation from the Telangana Sikh Society, led by former IPS officer Tejdeep Kaur Menon, met with Shabbir at the Secretariat in Hyderabad. The 18-member group expressed their deep concerns about the film, fearing that it portrays the Sikh community in a negative light. According to Shabbir, the delegation claimed that "Emergency" portrays Sikhs as terrorists and anti-nationals—a depiction they find offensive and damaging to the community’s image. They urged the state government to ban the film's screening in Telangana. Following the meeting, Shabbir relayed the group's concerns to Chief Minister Reddy, who promised that the government would make a decision on the matter after consulting with legal experts. Earlier this week, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) had issued a legal notice to Ranaut and the film's producers, demanding the removal of the film's trailer, which had been released earlier this month. SGPC Secretary Partap Singh had voiced strong objections to the film, revealing that the committee had also sent letters to the Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting and the Chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to request a ban on Emergency. Singh had also accused Ranaut of hurting Sikh sentiments, claiming that several "anti-Sikh scenes" had come to light since the trailer's release. The controversy gained further momentum last week when both the GDPC and the Akal Takht called for an immediate ban on the film. They alleged that Emergency attempts to "character assassinate" Sikhs by creating a negative narrative against them. SGPC Chief Harjinder Singh Dhami held a press conference, demanding that an FIR be filed against Ranaut and expressing his strong objections to the film. Dhami had said that this was not the first time Sikh sentiments have been hurt by misrepresentation in films. He also criticised the CBFC as being "biased" and urged for the inclusion of Sikh members on the censor board to ensure fair representation. Ranaut, who announced the film in 2021, had earlier clarified that although the film is a political drama, it is not a biopic of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Besides playing the lead role, Ranaut is also directing the film. The cast includes prominent actors like Anupam Kher, Milind Soman, Mahima Chaudhry, and <keyword id="20045058" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="shreyas-talpade" source="keywords">Shreyas Talpade</keyword>, with Talpade portraying Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Kher as Jayaprakash Narayan. The late Satish Kaushik will be seen as Jagjivan Ram, India's former Deputy Prime Minister.

Kangana Ranaut's Emergency might get banned in Telangana as Sikh community leaders raise concerns

New Delhi, Apr 24 () Three of the four COVID-19 patients, who received plasma therapy at a Delhi government hospital, were elderly ones while the fourth one was in his mid-30s, officials said on Friday.Four serious COVID-19 patients admitted at the Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan Hospital of the Delhi government have been given plasma therapy as part of a trial to assess its efficacy on such patients."Plasma therapy has been started on four patients at LNJP Hospital. All these patients are elderly except one patient, who is aged about 35," a senior official of the hospital said.LNJP Hospital is a dedicated COVID-19 facility in the national capital."The patients are showing fair response to the treatment. It will, however, be premature to comment upon the efficacy of the treatment based on the response of four patients," the official said.More plasma patients as well as donors are in the pipeline, hospital authorities said.Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday said the plasma therapy trial conducted on the four COVID-19 patients here has yielded "very encouraging" initial results, giving a ray of hope to seriously ill coronavirus patients.Addressing an online media briefing, Kejriwal said more clinical trials of plasma therapy will take place over the next two-three days, and his government will seek the Centre's nod next week for using the technique on all seriously ill COVID-19 patients in the city.The chief minister expressed hope that the Union government will give a go-ahead to the treatment regimen.He was joined by S K Sarin, director of the Institute of Liver and Biliary Science (ILBS) here, during the briefing.The four patients who were given plasma therapy have shown improvement in their health condition, respiratory rate and oxygen saturation, Kejriwal said.Two of the four patients, whose condition was serious, have now been shifted to general ward from the ICU and two others are also responding well, he said.Sarin said donating plasma would be an act of patriotism by recovered patients. It does not lead to any physical weakness to the donor, he said."It is not blood donation... Plasma therapy is also inexpensive," he said.Recently, a COVID-19 patient at Max hospital here, who was administered plasma therapy, had shown signs of improvement, and was taken off ventilator support.The 49-year-old, male patient from Delhi who had tested positive for coronavirus infection on April 4 was admitted at the dedicated COVID facility in East Block of Max Hospital, Saket, with moderate symptoms and a history of fever and respiratory issues, the same day.Dr Sandeep Budhiraja, Group Medical Director, Max Healthcare, had said, "We are delighted that the therapy worked well in his case, opening a new treatment opportunity during these challenging times. But it is important that we also understand that plasma therapy is no magic bullet".During the patient's treatment at Max Hospital, Saket, other standard treatment protocols were followed and one can say that the plasma therapy could have worked as a catalyst in speeding up his recovery, he added."We cannot attribute 100 per cent recovery to plasma therapy only, as there are multiple factors which carved his path to recovery," he said.Budhiraja said, "one donor can donate 400 ml of plasma which can save two lives, as 200 ml is sufficient to treat one patient".The total number of coronavirus cases in the national capital on Friday rose to 2,514, with 138 new cases and three fresh fatalities, taking the death toll from COVID-19 in the city to 53, according to the Delhi government authorities. To influence voters in Bihar, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Prime+Minister+Narendra+Modi+">Prime Minister Narendra Modi</a> announced on Tuesday a package of whopping Rs 1.25 lakh crore for the state and promised that it would touch new heights of development if the BJP is voted to power. 
 
Modi also attacked <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Bihar+Chief+Minister+Nitish+Kumar+">Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar</a> for putting the prestige of Bihar at stake by pleading with the previous <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=UPA+government+">UPA government</a> for packages and getting only Rs 12,000 crore, reported PTI. 
 "I am here today to fulfill my promise to you. I am announcing a package of Rs 1.25 lakh crore for Bihar. Now you give me your blessings to change the fate of Bihar," he said at a government function in <keyword id="1076700" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Arrah">Arrah</keyword> district, where several projects were launched. 
 
The PM also made it clear that the Rs 1.25 lakh crore package will be in addition to the ongoing projects worth Rs 40, 657 crore, announced previously. 
 In the wake of high-stakes state assembly polls, the BJP is banking heavily on the Centre's development package to wrest power from <keyword id="6358190" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Nitish-Kumar">Nitish Kumar</keyword>, its one time ally-turned-rival, who has now joined hands with <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Lalu+Prasad%27s+RJD+">Lalu Prasad's RJD</a> to take on the saffron combine. 
 
Attacking Kumar for his claim that Bihar was no longer a 'bimaru' state as claimed by Modi in his previous rally in Bihar, Modi wondered why he had been seeking packages all the time. 
 
He said: "Our chief minister turned very angry and said who is Modi to call Bihar a 'bimaru' state. He said with authority that Bihar is no longer a bimaru state. If it is true, then I will be the happiest person. I welcome this.” 
 
"Tell me, if somebody is healthy, will he go to a doctor. If somebody's stomach is full, will he go anywhere seeking food? I am surprised that on the one hand he says Bihar is not bimaru and on the other he keeps asking for something or the other. Let the people of Bihar decide," Modi said. 
 
He further cited the previous two packages of Rs 10,000 crore and Rs 12,000 crore given to the state in 2003 and 2013 and said the CM could not utilize them properly. 
 
Referring to Kumar's split with BJP in 2013, he said the chief minister then went to 'Delhi Durbar' and pleaded that please give me something to keep my honour. 
 
"For political benefits, he put at stake the prestige of Bihar," Modi said, adding that Rs 12000 crore given by UPA was like giving a candy to a child who cries too much. 
 
Invoking freedom fighter Babu Veer Kunwar Singh, who hailed from Arrah, and seeking <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Jayaprakash+Narayan">Jayaprakash Narayan's</a> blessings, he went on to ask people, "Should it be Rs 50, 000 crore or more, Rs 60, 000 cr, Rs 70, 000 cr...," he said as the crowd cheered and then stood up as he made the final announcement of Rs 1.25 lakh crore. 
 Wooing the electorate, he said people of Bihar were bestowed with "sharp intellect" and mentioned that <keyword id="120638" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="chanakya">Chanakya</keyword> was born here. 
 
He also spoke about the "comprehensive work" being done by his government, especially regarding skilling youth and training women, to develop the country and took a jibe at the previous dispensations, saying they had a "piecemeal" approach to progress. 
 
The CM, who had gone to receive Modi at <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Patna+Airport">Patna Airport</a>, was not present at the Arrah function where the PM inaugurated &amp; laid foundation stone of 11 National Highway projects of 700 km at a cost of Rs 9,700 crore.
