 On his recent visit to T-Hub, Uber CEO <keyword id="4144531" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="travis-kalanick-naren">Travis Kalanick Naren</keyword> Y, founder of DesiOPT, while addressing a session named ‘If I were your CEO’. 
 During the session Naren asked him about the scope of Asian <keyword id="4144533" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="STEM-talent">STEM talent</keyword> in USA, post which Uber gave DesiOPT a one year contract to provide STEM talent.

The challenge however lies in getting the talent channelized in the right direction.

Meet Hyderabad-based Hug Innovations and Gurgaon-based Fitso, winners of <keyword id="6354480" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="T-hub">T-hub</keyword>'s Global Mobile Challenge Nationals. They will now represent India at a larger Asia Pacific event in Singapore on the 20th January next year. This will be followed by the global event, the Mobile World Congress, in <keyword id="6355518" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Barcelona">Barcelona</keyword> in February. 
 
Founded in 2015 by Naman Sharma, Saurabh Aggarwal, Rahool Sureka, Fitso is a fitness based mobile app striving to help individuals achieve their fitness goal, be it running, weight loss/gain, bodyweight training. In January this year, the startup has raised $2,00,000 in an angel round from Jugnoo founder – Smamar Singla, Grofers Ex-CTO and CEO of Droom. 
 
The brainchild of Raj Neravati, Hug Innovations, on the other hand, is a maker of gesture control enabled Hug Smartwatch which is capable of flying drones, navigating smart televisions, and controlling virtual reality-based applications through hand gestures. 
 The platforms of both the winning startups combine the power of wearable technology and health coaching services on the cloud. They get a sponsored ticket for the event to be held in Singapore, $500 worth of credits from <keyword id="3257059" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="digital-ocean">Digital Ocean</keyword> and a Smartron phone. 
 
Meanwhile, Growfitter, a B2B SAAS based platform for Fitness centres and a B2C Fitness discovery portal enabling customers to book real-time sessions, stood second in the challenge and get the opportunity to participate in the Singapore finals. They too won a Smartron phone along with $500 worth of credits from Digital Ocean. 
 On the basis of relevance, effectiveness, innovation, ability to scale and go-to-market strategy, these teams emerged as the best among 10 teams that were judged by a panel of expert jury members comprising of Sreekanth, Hyderabad Angels, Rajeev Menon, <keyword id="1919619" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="anthill">Anthill</keyword> Ventures, Srinivas Kollipara, Founder &amp; COO, T-Hub and Sri Pedhu of Powerhouse Ventures.

Jay-Z and Andreessen Horowitz back a $19 million investment in NFT platform Bitski

Exactly a year after inauguration, <keyword id="6354480" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="T-hub">T-Hub</keyword>, India’s largest <keyword id="1428402" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Startup-incubator">startup incubator</keyword> which has waged a startup revolution in Hyderabad is now gearing up to roll out the second phase of its facility. Spread across 3,50,000 square feet, the new wing will be made available to entrepreneurs by mid-2018. 
 The size of the new facility will make it not only India’s but infact the world’s largest incubator, making it at par with Anne Higaldo’s ambitious ‘<keyword id="3847693" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="halle-freyssinet">Halle Freyssinet</keyword>’ in Paris, also spread over 3,50,000 square feet. 
 “The second phase of T-Hub's catalyst building, when opened in 2018, will be the largest such facility in the world. There are many international entrepreneurs, including a few from Israel, who are interested in joining the startup ecosystem in Hyderabad,” revealed <keyword id="210411" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Jay-Krishnan">Jay Krishnan</keyword>, CEO of T-Hub. 
 
T-Hub, which operates in a public-private partnership with the government of Telangana and three academic institutions (IIIT-H, ISB and NALSAR) recived an investment of Rs 180 crores for the new facility. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao is reportedly going to lay the foundation of the building. 
 Additionally, Krishnan also stated that T-Hub is in the process of creating a technology-driven ‘Sandbox’ which will act as a support system and include a high-end <keyword id="6537818" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="supercomputer">supercomputer</keyword> for <keyword id="6362513" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Startups">startups</keyword> which do not have proper access to resources and infrastructure. 
“This is the first time a supercomputer is being made exclusively for entrepreneurs,” he added. 
 
 
 
The super-computer is likely to be made available to startups and entrepreneurs by March next year. The estimated cost of building the super-computer would range between Rs 5 crores and Rs 25 crores. 
 
From now on, T-Hub will also start following a ‘cluster-based approach’ when it comes to managing deal flows for the startups that work out of their Gachibowli facility. Startups will now be segregated startups based on their stages (Idea, Early, Seed) and the verticals they are working on. There will also be a review every six-months to ascertain their progress.

T-Hub has partnered with Carnegie Endowment for Intrenational Peace, India, a public-policy think-tank to create a one-of-a-kind ‘Policy Incubator’ to help startups guide through the regulatory and policy implications of innovation. 
 
 Partnership with DBS Asia Hub-2 to create an ‘Innovation Hub’ for Fintech startups 
DBS Asia Hub-2 &amp; T-Hub entered into a strategic partnership to reimagine banking and drive innovation in fintech space. This partnership would leverage a network of fintech start-ups to make banking simpler, seamless and joyful for customers. This is what the CEO of India's largest startup incubator is upto in the Silicon Valley

Uber and tech startup incubator <keyword id="6354480" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="T-hub">T-hub</keyword> inked a pact for UberExchange programme under which 20 startups will be selected initially and 10 will be taken to <keyword id="6357722" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="silicon-valley">Silicon Valley</keyword> for further mentoring. 
 
T-hub, which is set up by the Telangana Government, will invite startups for UberExchange programme that involves online application process and encourage entrepreneurship. 
 "One of the most important things for entrepreneurs is to surround themselves with experienced mentors who understand what they are going through and who can provide the right guidance and support," said <keyword id="2620273" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Eric-Alexander">Eric Alexander</keyword>, Head of Business, Uber Asia.

As many as 160 million women may need to transition to other professions by 2030, according to a new report by the <a href="https://www.mckinsey.com/featured-insights/gender-equality/the-future-of-women-at-work-transitions-in-the-age-of-automation">McKinsey Global Institute</a>. Women will likely need to transition into higher-skilled roles, as McKinsey predicts only jobs requiring a college degree will experience a net growth in demand. McKinsey's <a href="https://medium.com/thrive-global/the-robots-are-coming-for-men-4f00037e9e62">report</a> builds on prior research that found automation will threaten male-dominated industries, like trucking or manufacturing. Traditional "women's work," or jobs with greater social intelligence like social work and nursing, are harder to automate. McKinsey finds on the whole that men face similar threats of displacement: 21% of men on average could lose their jobs to automation, compared to 20% of women. Yet structural barriers may hold women back from adapting to the new workforce. Women have less time to reskill or search for different jobs since they spend more time on childcare, the report stated. "Men and women need to be skilled, mobile, and tech-savvy in the automation age, but women face long-established barriers on all three, which makes it harder to make the necessary transitions," Mekala Krishnan, senior fellow at MGI and a report co-author, said in a release. The report looked into the impacts on six developed nations and four developing economies, which together account for half the world's population and 60% of the global GDP. While automation in developing countries like India and Mexico could result in a net increase in jobs, women (who make up the bulk of low-paying workers) must have better access to education to transition <keyword id="6354910" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="careers">careers</keyword>.In countries like the US and Canada, job growth will likely be more concentrated to two sectors: healthcare and technical services. Women are largely overrepresented in the healthcare sector, especially in jobs like <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/registered-nurses-worst-part-being-nurse-jobs-2019-5">nursing</a>. In technical services, however, women might fall behind if they do not acquire more technical skills. The report calls for greater government and industry investment into supporting skills-building efforts and increasing gender balance in technology.Industry leaders have called already for greater investment in skills retraining to prepare for greater automation. Retraining workers could <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/retraining-workers-could-be-a-new-frontier-for-the-future-of-work-2019-4">save companies billions of dollars in restructuring</a>, and some firms, such as consultancy <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/training-employees-on-new-skills-and-technology-what-accenture-learned-2019-1">Accenture</a>, have already begun implementing programs.Vocational training and apprenticeship programs could also aid in job transitions once automation hits. Women worldwide are nearly as vulnerable as men to the robot takeover of jobs

A startup called <keyword id="3785014" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Oxyent-Technologies">Oxyent Technologies</keyword> emerged as the winner of the recently concluded <keyword id="10875" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="IBM">IBM</keyword> Smartcamp Challenge for <keyword id="3352540" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="healthtech-startups">healthtech startups</keyword> in the country. It is a hospital-linked application and a one-stop workflow solution for Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and the Pediatrics Department to assimilate and disseminate child information, starting from birth up to 12 years of age. 
 The challenge, a part of IBM’s Global Entrepreneur program, was to identify <keyword id="6362513" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Startups">startups</keyword> in the B2B and B2C space in India who are poised to redefine the healthcare industry and solve real world problems through their technology innovations. 
 
“IBM Smartcamps are designed and aimed at providing opportunities for startups to get mentorship and work with IBM and industry experts to scale up their business quickly, particularly by taking advantage of cognitive and cloud-based technologies. The focus of IBM Smartcamp for Health Tech initiative was to provide the startups in healthcare an opportunity to showcase their products and get inputs first-hand from various stakeholders,” said Seema Kumar, Country Manager, Ecosystem Development, IBM India &amp; SA. “At IBM, we are committed to empowering the next generation of start-ups that develop solutions to solve the most complex problems in the country. We are bullish on the potential of the Indian startup ecosystem to make effective use of technology to rapidly transform and improve the quality of healthcare solutions in the country.” 
 
Meanwhile, Harpreet Singh, the founder of the winning startup Oxyent Technologies, said, "Enterprise technologies like IoT, cloud computing, big data and analytics are a pillar to our solution. As a startup getting technical mentoring from IBM mentors in utilizing best practices in IoT and building on knowledge base of Watson will provide us an opportunity to be a world-class solution provider in child healthcare.” 
 
Two other startups - UE LifeSciences and DailyRounds - were selected as the first and second runners-up of the challenge. 
 
UE LifeSciences’ flagship product, iBreastExam is a portable, radiation-free device that can be used anywhere. The device essentially performs bilateral breast examinations and claims to provide results under five minutes. It accurately detects lesions with a sensitivity higher than 85% without causing any pain and has a low false-alarm rate of 6%. 
 
Meanwhile, DailyRounds is a mobile app for doctors, medical schools, physician, and surgeon societies to publish clinical cases, articles, and images. The platform allows doctors to share insights about medical cases. It claims to provide a verified diagnosis within 24 hours of submission. It also functions as a medical case library for doctors to refer and discuss their cases. 
 
The winners were chosen after multiple levels of screenings and panel rounds by the jury members. They were judged on various parameters like innovative solution, features &amp; demos, ability to scale, team behind the product, and the market size they are addressing with their solution.
