For the last five years what have they given us or done with Pakistan cricket. Having served Pakistan cricket for so many years I am shocked and hurt to hear such comments from our players," Miandad said on the 'Aaj TV' channel. 
 Afridi and senior player <keyword id="6138" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Shoaib-Malik">Shoaib Malik</keyword> had praised India after landing there for the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=T20+world+cup">World Twenty20</a>, insisting that they have never felt threatened in the country even though their departure was delayed due to security concerns.

Even in May this year, Pakistan High Commissioner, Abdul Basit, said the dreaded gangster "was not in Pakistan", when Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh told Parliament that India knew about Dawood's whereabouts.
 

	Times Now reported that according to details of bills available with Indian security agencies, the phone was installed in 2006.
 

	An exclusive report in the Hindustan Times today exposed several discrepancies in the Pakistani narrative.
 

	The HT report, quoting intelligence inputs, stated that Dawood, his wife Mehjabeen Shaikh, son Moeen Nawaz and daughters Mahrukh, Mehreen and Mazia are living in the upscale Clifton neighborhood of Pakistan's Karachi. Dawood's daughter Mahrukh is married to Junaid, son of former Pakistan cricket captain Javed Miandad.
 

	Indian intelligence agencies have an April 2015 telephone bill in the name of Dawood's wife Mehjabeen with D-13, Block-4, Karachi Development Authority, Sch-5, Clifton, as the address, according to the report. Dawood has three Pakistani passports and two more residential addresses in Karachi.
 

	Dawood's family members have travelled to Dubai in January this year. According to the image that HT published of Dawood's Pakistani passport photo, the 59-year-old crime syndicate chief is now cleanshaven, has a receding hairline and has not had plastic surgery done on his face.
 

	Sleuths also have his passport numbers, flight and passenger details.
 

	"Pakistan's Dawood lie is also nailed from the fact that the mafia don's close associates like Jabir Saddiq, Jawaid Chotani and Mumbai blasts accused Javed Patel a.k.a Chikna are also based in Pakistan and are frequent visitors to Dubai. There are flight details to show that Saddiq travelled to Dubai from Karachi on July 20, 2015 and returned four days later," Shishir Gupta wrote in the report for HT.

It is a wonderful game, cricket. It grabs our emotions and takes them on a roller-coaster ride all the time, unaware of how much control it exercises over our conscience and the subconscience. It offers fans many triggers; some events sparking a hypothetical debate, others making them drown themselves in nostalgia.

So what is it about Jadeja that makes me believe that he would have done exactly what Smith did in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday night? His deep knowledge of the laws of cricket, his ability to harness his own performance to secure the best results and a willingness to reach the goals with the minimum fuss make him the prime candidate. 
 
There are two instances of his craft that stand out - and these come a year on either side of his assault on Waqar Younis' bowling in the 1996 World Cup quarterfinal at Bangalore. In a North Zone Ranji Trophy limited-overs game against Services in 1995, he manipulated (rather than farmed) strike when with tailender Sonu Sharma. 
 
Haryana were in a poor way and it was imperative that Jadeja retain as much of the strike as possible. Services set the field in such a way that they would concede him a single to try and have a go at Sonu Sharma. But Jadeja, acknowledged as one of the sharpest brains in Indian cricket, was up to speed with that ploy. 
 
He came up a counter plan that not only helped his team but also forced BCCI to change the playing conditions. Jadeja and Sonu Sharma would cross but the man running to the danger end would turn from halfway down the pitch. They would get one run - with an umpire signalling one short - but Jadeja retained strike. 
 
Then, in a Ranji Trophy game against Services in Faridabad in 1997, Jadeja shared a last-wicket partnership of 72 with Vineet Jain. It must have taken some skill since Jadeja finished with 242 not out while Jain's contribution to the stand was a grand total of zero runs! 
 
Memories of these matches were strong enough reason to merit a call to the man himself. Jadeja came up with the names of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Mohammad Kaif and Rahul Dravid as Indian batsmen who would have shown a similar acute awareness of the immediate task on hand and the possibilities opened up by the field placing to do just enough to get to the goal as Steve Smith did.

A year has passed since the tiger stopped roaring. But does Mumbai miss him? Of course, the Marathi Manoos part of Mumbai does miss him every day, with every event and every political development. When <keyword id="6371377" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Bal-Thackeray">Bal Thackeray</keyword> breathed his last on November 17, 2012, at the age of 86, Mumbai spilled out on the streets to mourn for the man who ruled the very spirit of the city. It is difficult to imagine Mumbai without Balasaheb. 
 
This cartoonist-turned-activist was Mumbai personified and sometimes transmogrified into aggression that an average Mumbaikar wanted to express. After he passed away, Mumbai had not only lost its voice, but also the spirit. Balasaheb had a finger on the pulse of Mumbai. He could never be wrong with the city or the people of Maharashtra. 
 
When alive, Balasaheb was a total mystery wrapped in contradictions. And those contradictions lie in his very personality. He was a chuffy man with a serious look, a tiger who sat on the throne, and a man who commanded thousands but was most humble when dealing with friends. 
 
In other words, he was human. He carried no pretentions. Just as the cartoonist he was when he worked with the Free Press Journal, Balasaheb evoked humour with every situation that touched him. And he had the capacity to laugh at himself. For this, he could contradict himself. Yet, his Shiv Sainiks did not grumble, ever. They followed their leader with as much loyalty as before, which was a puzzle even to his close relatives. 
 There are many real-life instances and legends involving Bal Thackeray’s reactions and responses to situations and people. His jibes were never short on satire. They were timely, sharp and always hit the bull’s eye. Even in his editorial in <keyword id="6358821" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="40" keywordseo="Shiv-Sena">Shiv Sena</keyword> mouthpiece Saamna, Balasaheb was as powerful as he was with his spoken words. A true artist who had perfected his art of curvy lines and never let the guard dictate terms over his persona. 
 
Although he was referred to as the ‘tiger’ of Maharashtra, Balasaheb was more than that. The thespian of Hindi cinema, Dilip Saab, chose to call him a ‘lion’ who had the whole forest at his command, without having to strike his claws at anyone. 
 
But in the true sense, tiger was what he was. By temperament and by design. Just as the tiger never moves out of its habitat and protects its territory from other big cats, Balasaheb worked in the same way. 
 He rarely moved out of Mumbai. And when he saw Mumbai (then <keyword id="6356654" type="COMPANY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Bombay">Bombay</keyword>) being overtaken by outsiders, he launched the Shiv Sena in 1966. The idea was to protect his people’s turf, the Marathi Manoos (Maratha people), from the ‘outsiders.’ For that, he could reprimand anyone including the so-called stars with millions of fans. His political legacy was unquestioned and remained unquestionable, too. Even after his death, Shiv Sainiks have made sure that nobody would ever dare to question his authority. Remember the incident where two girls were arrested (they were later released) for their FB status – questioning the Mumbai shutdown on the day when his last rites were held? That was Mumbai grieving over its true son. It was an emotional moment that couldn’t be countered with logic or rationality. Balasaheb’s equation with his Sainiks was built on human bridges, over decades. It couldn’t come down with his physical demise. They still believe he is there with them for without him, they remain ideologically orphaned. He gave them their thinking and actions, and told them when to employ either of these. 
 Those who knew him had clearly understood he had no long-term goals to achieve. He did not aspire to be the <keyword id="5269" type="POSITION" weightage="40" keywordseo="Chief-Minister">chief minister</keyword> or occupy any position that would take him to corridors of power. He had clearly understood where his powers lay. He was powerful in his very being. Not even the <keyword id="6362177" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="40" keywordseo="union-government">Union Government</keyword>, no matter which party occupied the seats at the Parliament. Balasaheb was in power, always. In fact, HE was THE power. 
 
That he had no encumbrances had never been a problem for this leader who had shown his ‘human’ side to his men. But it was a problem for others who tried to fit him into a definition or tried to psychoanalyse him and understand him in a straitjacketed manner. Like a true cartoonist, his lines never came straight. They always curved to say something. That something was always between the lines. 
 That is why <keyword id="4952" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Michael-Jackson">Michael Jackson</keyword> visited him at his abode Maatoshree on the former’s India visit. And so did a host of politicians and Hollywood stars. Even though he declared that he wouldn’t allow India-Pakistan matches to be held in Mumbai, he also had the gumption to invite Javed Miandad to his house for dinner. When asked, he said he wanted the Indian team to have similar ‘killer instinct’ as Pakistani cricketers had while playing on the ground. 
 
His Hindutva was not as skewed as that of the Hindutva-vadis. In fact, he chafed at the RSS men calling them ‘knickerwallahs.’ He remained the uncrowned king of Maharashtra for 45 years. And unless psychologists dig deep into his persona, this legend called Balasaheb can never be understood through mere words.
