Raipur, Jul 6 () The number of COVID-19 cases in Chhattisgarh increased to 3,305 on Monday after 92 more people tested positive for the infection, a health official said. Also, 66 patients were discharged from different hospitals, taking the number of recoveries to 2,644, he said. Of the new cases, 21 were reported from Rajnandgaon district, 18 from Raipur, 17 from Bastar, seven from Bilaspur, six from Surajpur, five from Janjgir-Champa, three from Bemetara while one case each came from Durg, Mahasamund, Korba, Balrampur, Surguja, Dantewada and Narayanpur districts, he said. The number of active cases in the state now stood at 647 as 2,644 people have been discharged after recovery while 14 others have died so far. With total 446 COVID-19 cases so far, Raipur district tops the tally in the state followed by Korba (323 cases), Rajanandgaon (320), Janjgir-Champa (257), Balodabazar (253), Bilaspur (238), Jashpur (189), Durg (170), Balrampur (146), Raigarh (134), Mungeli (123) and Kabirdham (110), he said. The districts which have so far reported less than 10 cases are Dhamtari (8), Sukma (5), Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi (3), Kondagaon (3) and Bijapur (2), the official said. The state health department on Monday declared 105 development blocks/urban areas, including Raipur, in 23 districts as red zones and 30 development blocks/urban areas in 17 districts as orange zones to contain spread of the virus, another official said. The classification of development blocks and urban areas into zones has been done based on the number of active COVID-19 cases, doubling rates and samples tested per 1 lakh population of the area, he said. However, some areas were classified as orange zones despite not reporting a single COVID-19 case so far, after it was found that the testing rate per 1 lakh population was less there, he said. The death toll so far stood at 14. A total of 52 patients were discharged from different hospitals in the day, taking the number of the recovered cases to 2,578, he said. Of the 46 new cases, 15 cases were reported from Raipur district, 11 from Korba, six from Koriya, five from Bilaspur, four from Surguja, three from Janjgir-Champa and two from Raigarh, he said. The number of active cases in the state now stands at 615, as 2,578 people have been recovered and 14 others have died so far. With total 427 cases so far, Raipur district tops the tally in the state, followed by Korba (319), Rajanandgaon (299), Janjgir-Champa (252), Balodabazar (245), Bilaspur (229), Jashpur (189), Durg (169), Balrampur (145), Raigarh (134), Mungeli (123) and Kabirdham (110), the official said. The districts which have so far reported less than 10 cases are Dhamtari (8), Sukma (5), Gaurela-Pendra Marwahi (3), Kondagaon (3) and Bijapur (2), he said. Meanwhile, the functioning of Chhattisgarh High Court has been closed till July 10, after an employee of the state's Advocate General (AG) office in the premises tested positive for the viral infection on Saturday. "In view of the identification of an employee as corona positive, the office of the AG, High Court of Chhattisgarh, Bilaspur, has been declared as closed till July 10," stated an order issued by incharge Registrar General of the HC. In order to prevent the possibility of spreading of the viral infection, the HC has also decided to temporarily close its functioning and all sections of Registry of HC from July 6 to July 10 subject to further notification, it stated. Raipur, Aug 17 () Chhattisgarh reported 372 new COVID-19 cases and six more deaths, taking the statewide tally to 15,993 and the toll to 148 on Monday, a health official said. While three patients died on Monday and two others on Sunday, the COVID-19 report of a man who was brought dead to a hospital here on Sunday was found to be positive, he said. The day also saw the discharge of 363 patients following their recovery from the infection, he said. The state has now 5,247 active cases as 10,598 people have been discharged after recovery while 140 have died, the official said. Of the fresh cases detected on Monday, 170 were reported from Raipur, which is worst-hit by the pandemic in the state, followed by 59 from Durg, 34 from Bilaspur, 20 from Surguja, 14 each from Rajnandgaon and Mahasamund districts, seven each from Balodabazar, Raigarh and Kanker districts, five each from Janjgir-Champa, Dantewada and Sukma districts and four from Jashpur, he said. Three cases each were reported from Balod, Koriya and Bastar districts, two each from Bemetara, Kabirdham, Dhamtari and Surajpur while one case each came from Mungeli, Kondagaon, Narayanpur and Bijapur districts, he said. A woman is among six fatalities reported from the state, he said. A 72-year-old man from Durg district, who was suffering from coronary heart disease and diabetes, was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here on August 14 after being tested COVID-19 positive. He died on Monday afternoon, he said. Another man, aged 46, from Mahasamund district, who was admitted to AIIMS on August 13 with complications in breathing and who later tested positive for the viral infection, died in the afternoon, he said. A Raipur based man, aged 55, was declared dead after being brought to AIIMS on Sunday and his COVID-19 report was found to be positive on the day, he said. Besides, two patients, including a woman, from Durg and another from Raipur died of COVID-19, he added. Chhattisgarh, where the infection has spread in all the 28 districts, has recorded over 10,900 cases and 124 deaths just in the last one month, the official said. Raipur, Jun 14 () With 113 new COVID-19 cases, Chhattisgarh's overall count increased to 1,662 on Sunday while the number of fatalities rose to eight, after two more persons succumbing to the viral infection in the last 24 hours, a Health official said. A total of 84 patients were discharged from different hospitals. Of the new cases, 44 were reported from Korba district, 28 from Balrampur, 14 from Janjgir-Champa, six each from Durg, Raigarh and Raipur districts, 3 from Balodabazar and two each from Gariaband, Bilaspur and Jashpur districts, he said. "Two patients, who were admitted at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Raipur, died due to co-morbidities, taking the number of coronavirus fatalities in the state to eight," the official said. Of them, a 43-year-old man, a native of Mahasamund district, was suffering from Tuberculosis meningitis and hypertension. He was admitted in a private hospital here on May 31, a Public Relations Officer of the AIIMS said. "After he tested positive for the viral infection on June 6, he was shifted to AIIMS in a very serious condition. He succumbed early this morning due to bilateral pneumonitis, respiratory failure, tuberculous meningitis, sepsis and COVID-19," he added. In another case, a 52-year-old man from Raigarh district was admitted to AIIMS on April 5 for treatment of bladder cancer, following which his surgery was done on May 12, he said. "Later, the patient found COVID-19 positive and shifted to the ICU designated for such patients on Saturday. He died on the same night due to respiratory failure, bladder cancer, sepsis and COVID-19," he added. The number of active cases in the state now stood at 939, as 715 people have been discharged after recovery while eight others have died of the infection so far. At present, 1,59,276 people have been kept in 20,208 quarantine centres while 54,850 people are in home quarantine, he said. Raipur, Jun 1 () Chhattisgarh has recorded 55 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 549 on Monday, a health official here said. Most of the new patients are migrant labourers who recently returned to their home districts from different parts of the country and were kept in quarantine centres or those who came in their contact, he said. While 45 new coronavirus cases were reported on Monday, samples of 10 others tested positive on Sunday night, the official said. Of the new cases, 11 were reported from Bilaspur district, nine from Jashpur, seven from Raigarh, five from Bemetara, four from Korba, three each from Raipur, Balod and Dhamtari districts while two each from Mungeli, Surguja and Durg districts, he said. Besides, one case each was reported from Gariaband, Bastar, Rajnandgaon and Mahasamund districts, he said. One of the new cases detected in Raipur is a 73-year- old man, who was admitted at private Shree Narayana Hospital with multiple ailments here, the official said. The first chief minister of the state, Ajit Jogi, who died following a cardiac arrest on May 29, was admitted in the same hospital. Jogi and the patient, who tested positive for the viral infection on Monday, were admitted in separate wards and there was no contact between the two. "However, doctors and nursing staff who were attending the patient were asked to stay in quarantine. The patient is being shifted to AIIMS for further treatment," Dr Sunil Khemka, Medical Director, Shree Narayana Hospital, told . Another coronavirus case from Raipur is a cancer patient who was admitted in AIIMS Raipur on May24 for surgery. After his sample tested positive for the viral infection on Monday, he was shifted to the COVID-19 ward of the government-run hospital, a PRO of the AIIMS said. Earlier in the day, seven patients were discharged from different hospitals, including the AIIMS Raipur, following their recovery, he said. The COVID-19 count in the state has gone up to 549, though active cases are 427 as 121 patients have recovered and one patient has died, the official said. Of the active cases, 104 are undergoing treatment at the AIIMS Raipur, 93 at COVID hospital Mana Raipur, 49 at COVID hospital Bilaspur, 64 at Medical College Hospital Ambikapur, 27 at Medical College Raigarh, 38 at Medical College Rajnandgaon and five at Medical College Jagdalpur, he said.
