After she was denied passport in November last year, <keyword id="2041218" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Jashodaben">Jashodaben</keyword> Modi, the estranged wife of Prime Minister <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword>, filed an <keyword id="6356198" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="RTI">RTI</keyword> application on Wednesday seeking details and a copy of the PM's passports. 

	She filed her application at the Regional Passport Office (RPO), Ahmedabad.
 

	Jashodaben had failed to produce her marriage certificate or a joint affidavit with her spouse. She had sought a passport to go abroad and meet relatives and friends of her family.
 

	A relative of Jashodaben who accompanied her to the RPO on Wednesday said that the PM's wife had asked for details and a copy each of the maiden passport, renewed passports and the passport issued to Modi after he became Gujarat chief minister. 
 

	"Her RTI application has also sought all related applications and documents that were submitted," Jashodaben's relative said.
 The PM's wife went to the RPO in an autorickshaw accompanied by her brother <keyword id="1466314" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ashok-Modi">Ashok Modi</keyword> and another relative. 

	She left the office in 15 minutes after submitting the application. "I have come for my personal work," she said but did not elaborate.
 

	Regional passport officer ZA Khan said they were scrutinizing her application. "We will give a reply within the stipulated time frame of 30 days," Khan said. 
 

	Just after Modi became PM, Jashodaben had filed an RTI application seeking details of the security she was entitled to as wife of the prime minister. 
 

	In November last year, Mehsana superintendent of police had declined to give the information saying the matter pertained to security and could not be disclosed under RTI.

PM Modi's wife files RTI, seeks details of his passport

Prime Minister <keyword id="6354477" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi" source="Orion">Narendra Modi</keyword>, on Tuesday, disclosed his total movable assets amounting to ₹3.02 crore as he submitted his nomination papers from the <keyword id="2169874" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Varanasi-Lok-Sabha-constituency" source="Orion">Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency</keyword> for the third consecutive time. In his poll papers, <keyword id="2238662" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="PM-Modi" source="Orion">PM Modi</keyword> revealed that he does not possess a house, car, or any land. His total assets include a fixed deposit of ₹2.86 crore with the State Bank of India (SBI), ₹80,304 in two bank accounts in Gandhinagar and Varanasi, and ₹52,920 cash in hand. Additionally, he holds gold investments worth ₹2.67 lakh in the form of four gold rings. The Prime Minister has invested ₹9.12 lakh in National Savings Certificates, marking an increase of nearly ₹2 lakh since 2019. He has no outstanding loans and lists his sources of income as 'salary from government' and 'interest from bank'. Contrary to the common wisdom of not putting all your eggs in one basket, PM Modi’s asset allocation data shows nearly 95% of his assets being concentrated in fixed deposits. However, considering his position as the Prime Minister of India, him steering clear of equity markets is understandable as it can lead to potential conflicts in decision-making. Among personal details, PM Modi stated that he holds an MA degree from Gujarat University and graduated from Delhi University in 1978. He passed the SSC exam from the Gujarat board in 1967. He declared Jashodaben as his wife in the nomination papers. However, her profession, occupation, and source of income were listed as 'not known'. The Prime Minister also affirmed that there are no pending criminal cases against him and he does not owe any government dues. Amidst much ceremony, PM Modi formally filed his nomination, seeking a third straight win from the Varanasi constituency. He will be contesting against Congress' UP unit president Ajay Rai. Before filing his nomination, PM Modi sought blessings at Kashi, took a holy dip in Ganga, performed rituals and Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat, and boarded MV Swami Vivekanand Ro-Ro vessel to reach Namo Ghat and the Kaal Bhairav temple. Indian Prime Minister <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword>’s praise for her Bangladeshi counterpart <keyword id="66026" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sheikh-Hasina">Sheikh Hasina</keyword> went sour when he lauded her over fighting terrorism “despite being a woman”. 
 
Modi, while addressing Dhaka University on his two-day visit to the neighbouring nation, praised Hasina but his ‘despite being a woman’ statement raised many eyebrows.

What Modi must have meant was that despite hardships faced by a woman, Hasina tackled terrorism but Twitter users took it as an insult.

Some people even raked up old wounds when Modi in 2012 had called Shashi Tharoor’s deceased wife Sunanda Pushkar “50 crore ki girlfriend”.
