Presence of people, however, was thin--only 50-60 residents turned up in densely-populated areas like Sewa Nagar and Jangpura. Questions such as who should be exempted, the days when the scheme should run and how soon it needs to be implemented were asked.Madan Lal, MLA, Kasturba Nagar, said, "Once the scheme is implemented, better regulations and strict enforcement of law should be in place. Pollution will have to be monitored regularly and the system should be more transparent." 
 
Constituencies where the exercise was carried out included Delhi Cantt, Kasturba Nagar, Jangpura, Greater Kailash, Malviya Nagar, Chhatarpur, Karol Bagh, Tilaknagar, Madipur, Wazirpur, Mundka and Nangloi Jat. 
 Chief minister <keyword id="260213" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Arvind-Kejriwal">Arvind Kejriwal</keyword> had earlier claimed that the odd-even numberplate formula brought down the pollution levels by 25%. Initially, some experts had said its effectiveness on the city's pollution level could not be determined so easily without considering other factors like weather. On the other hand, a section of citi zens was in favour of the scheme as it helped reduce traffic congestions to a great extent. 
On Saturday , many people opposed the idea of giving exemption to single women and suggested that senior citizens should be exempted instead.However, M M Sharma, an elderly resident of Lajpat Nagar, said that exemption should be given to those who need it."Considering the safety and security of women, their exemption seems fair," he added. 
 Ritika Sareen, a Delhi University student said that for better implementation of the <keyword id="6830867" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="odd-even-scheme">odd-even scheme</keyword>, public transport needs to be upgraded. 
 
Citizens were, however, unanimous in condemning the VIP culture and were against extending any favour to this class. Rajinder Gulati, a shop owner in Bhogal Market, said, "Everyone should be treated equally and even twowheelers shouldn't be exemp ted from the scheme." 
 
Amandeep Singh who rides a two-wheeler every day said people from low income group can't afford to buy a second motorcycle, so they deserve the exemption. 
 
However, some citizens who came to give their feedback the exemption on two-wheelers should be lifted as they contribute to 32% of the vehicular pollution. Ishan Kaushik, a Class XII student, said that instead of two-wheelers, people should use bicycles to cover small distances, which would help cut pollution levels. 
 
Praveen Kumar, MLA of the Jangpura constituency , said, "The objective of the odd-even scheme was to make sure that our kids don't develop lung problems." 
 He added that the scheme was the first step in making people aware of the severe <keyword id="55910" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Air-Pollution">air pollution</keyword> in the city.

The blanket of haze over Delhi thickened on Friday morning with the national capital's pollution levels increasing overnight by around 50 points, taking the overall air quality index to 459. A Central Pollution Control Board official said the AQI entered the "severe plus" or "emergency" category late Thursday night, the first time since January this year. If the air quality persists in the "severe plus" category for more than 48 hours, emergency measures such as odd-even car rationing scheme, banning entry of trucks, construction activities and shutting down schools are taken under the Graded Response Action Plan, the official said. The hazardous pollution levels forced a number of people to miss morning walks and other activities. Shubhomoy Sikdar, a Delhi-based journalist, said the pollution levels gave him a throat infection and he had to skip his daily sports session. Amanpreet Singh, a resident of <keyword id="1775695" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Jangpura">Jangpura</keyword>, said he has been avoiding morning and evening walks and preferring to stay indoors. The number of masked faces continued to grow as the city remained shrouded in pungent haze for the fourth consecutive day. At 8.30 am, the capital's overall air quality index stood at 459. It was 410 at 8 pm on Thursday. All the 37 air quality monitoring stations across Delhi recorded the air quality in the severe category on Friday morning. Bawana was the most-polluted area with an AQI of 497, followed by Delhi Technological University (487), Wazirpur (485), Anand Vihar (484) and Vivek Vihar (482). Neighbouring Ghaziabad was the most-polluted city in the country, with the levels of PM2.5 -- tiny particulate matter less than 2.5 microns that can enter deep into the lungs -- reaching as high as 493. Greater <keyword id="18858" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Noida">Noida</keyword> (480), Noida (477), and <keyword id="47896" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Faridabad">Faridabad</keyword> (432) also breathed extremely polluted air. An AQI between 0-50 is considered good , 51-100 satisfactory , 101-200 moderate , 201-300 poor , 301-400 very poor , and 401-500 severe . Above 500 is severe-plus or emergency category. Weather experts said increased wind speed due to a fresh western disturbance approaching the northern region would help disperse pollutants faster from Saturday. Parents are a worried lot as health experts say children breathe faster, taking in more pollutants. Many took to Twitter to demand that schools be shut till the situation ameliorates. "We, as parents, request Delhi government to keep all schools (pvt and govt) shut for the time being," Anil Atri, a Delhi resident, posted on the microblogging site. "Whole Delhi air at hazardous levels now. Pollution at its peak. Activate all emergency measures. Close down schools @msisodia (sic)," another resident tweeted. Deputy Chief Minister <keyword id="6354681" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="manish-sisodia">Manish Sisodia</keyword> had on Wednesday said the decision to shut schools would be taken "when the need arises". In November 2017, the government had shut schools for a few days due to the deteriorating air quality. The government, however, started distributing 50 lakh N95 masks, considered one of the good quality masks for tackling smog, among school students in Delhi on Friday morning. Meanwhile, the BCCI said it would carry on with the India-Bangladesh T20 at the Feroz Shah Kotla grounds on Sunday, disregarding concerns raised by environmentalists about the health of players and thousands of spectators. The AQI takes into account five chief pollutants -- particulate matter with a diameter less than 10 micrometres (PM10), PM2.5, <keyword id="36673" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="ozone">ozone</keyword> (O3), <keyword id="142405" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nitrogen-dioxide">nitrogen dioxide</keyword> (NO2) and carbon monoxide (CO). The higher the AQI value, the greater the level of air pollution and health concerns.

The Indian Sari is one of the few garments that is internationally recognizable for its compelling regional style. As a metro-dwelling Indian girl, I believe that wearing a Sari is too far-fetched for most occasions. The whole six-yards of fabric is hard to maneuver for a working woman and the grace the sari commands requires complicated footwear like heels and the right tucks that can unravel easily. The everyday Indian sari has seen a revival of sorts with movements like 100SareePact, which encourage women to wear saris at least 100 days a year and document it on social media. Still, most working women find the garment tedious to carry off and wear on a daily basis especially when stitched pieces can be so comfortable in form of kurtas, dresses or simply the typical pair of jeans and a shirt. To satiate my curiosity and I decided to sign up for <a href="https://www.airbnb.co.in/experiences/39565">the Sari School</a> experience on a Sunday. Hosted by the popular <keyword id="519955" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="rita-kapoor">Rita Kapoor</keyword> who is known for her work reviving the ancient Indian craft of hand spinning and weaving since 1998, I reached Jangpura in South Delhi to be greeted by a beautiful building and sprawling gardens. Rita Kapoor Chrishti, who started the <keyword id="4193152" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="sari-school">Sari School</keyword> to help celebrate and educate others about the unstitched garment, started the afternoon with an interactive presentation. We learned about the craftspeople that create different kinds of hand-loom, all over the country. Handskilling capabilities on the traditional Charkha combined with Handloom weaving are the few unique resources that India holds in the international market. We also went back in time to when <keyword id="6355532" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="mahatma-gandhi">Mahatma Gandhi</keyword>'s support of the handloom industry popularized the indigenous methods of production during the Swaraj movement before industrialization took over. The highlight of the class was when we learnt how to drape the sari in four different regional styles, and understood the difference of quality between a range of handspun cotton and silks on display by touch &amp; feel. Rita has been involved in educating the world about saris through her work with artisans and she has also authored a book titled ‘Saris: Tradition and beyond.’ Sari, all Sari Traveling district-by-district, village-by-village, and city-by-city this extensive book explores the spectrum of traditional weaver and printer settlements in fourteen sari-producing states of India. Chrishti, who regularly takes up a group of four-five people for the <keyword id="719382" type="LOCATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="airbnb">Airbnb</keyword> experience every other Sunday in her studio, believes that a hands-on experience can really transform the way people perceive traditional saris. Rita also propagates that the nine yards don't have to be limited to a particular style and is familiar with 108 ways of draping the Sari. She demonstrated four regional styles of draping the Sari starting from <keyword id="28504" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="kerala">Kerala</keyword>’s Mohiniattam, Bengal’s Dhokna Jalpaiguri, Odissi Dance Style to Andra Pradesh’s Venukagundaram. My personal favorite was Mohiniattam style from Kerala that constructed a fabric flower on the hip and it didn't require a petticoat under.
