Lauder joined the family-run company in 1996 and was named its first executive vice president of enterprise marketing and chief data officer in 2020, according to a press release. Before that, she worked in senior leadership positions for brands including Clinique, Origins, and Darphin, which are all owned by Estée Lauder. The fashion trade outlet WWD first reported the news. Estée Lauder confirmed the story but said it would not be issuing a statement. Her departure comes amid a <keyword id="21737281" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="leadership-shake-up" source="keywords">leadership shake-up</keyword> for Estée Lauder Companies Inc., which announced in August that longtime CEO <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/how-deciem-and-the-ordinary-fit-into-estee-lauders-growth-2021-2">Fabrizio Freda</a> would retire at the end of the 2025 financial year. <div type="image" title="Fabrizio Freda attends the Balmain Womenswear Spring-Summer 2025 show as part of Paris Fashion Week on September 25, 2024." height="960" width="1280" msid="114697538" hostid="261"></div>The announcement of Freda's departure came as Estée Lauder reported a 2% decrease in organic sales for the year to June, citing "ongoing softness in <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/whats-behind-china-luxury-goods-slowdown-economy-changing-consumer-tastes-2024-10">China</a>" as a key reason. In the earnings release, Freda also called the sales and profit outlook for the current financial year "disappointing." At the time of his retirement announcement, Estée Lauder said it was "well advanced in its long-established <keyword id="23217871" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="CEO-succession" source="keywords">CEO succession</keyword> planning process" and that the board was considering both internal and external candidates. In an internal memo, Lauder said she plans to remain a board member and shareholder, WWD reported. "The company is embarking on a necessary and fundamental turnaround," Lauder said, per WWD. "I have thought about how I can be most effective in helping the company reclaim its rightful position as the world's leader in prestige beauty and restore long term shareholder value." Her sister, Aerin Lauder Zinterhofer, also spent decades working at the company before launching her eponymous luxury lifestyle brand Aerin, which is part of Estée Lauder's portfolio. After nearly three decades, Lauder will soon no longer be involved in day-to-day operations at Estée Lauder, but her family still owns a 38% share of the company and controls most of the voting rights. Perhaps that makes Kevin Warsh, his <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/kevin-warsh-is-a-contender-for-federal-reserve-chair-2017-2">new perceived favorite</a> to replace Janet Yellen as Federal Reserve chair, an ideal candidate.Warsh was a Fed governor between 2006 and 2011, during the depths of the financial crisis and Great Recession. He was previously a Morgan Stanley banker who now "advises several private and public companies, including serving on the board of directors of UPS," <a href="http://www.hoover.org/profiles/kevin-warsh">according to his biography at the Hoover Institution</a>, where he is a distinguished visiting fellow in economics.Warsh is also, importantly, on one of Trump's remaining business councils, and is one of the few high-profile figures not to have condemned the president's equating neo-Nazis to those protesting them in Charlottesville. Warsh is married to Jane Lauder, the billionaire heiress of cosmetics giant Estee Lauder, a major Republican donor and <a href="http://www.azcentral.com/story/opinion/op-ed/philboas/2017/04/30/ron-lauder-trump-boyhood-friend/306784001/">a childhood friend of Trump's.</a>Warsh declined to comment for this article. Back in 2009-2011, while still at the Fed, Warsh was keenly worried about inflation at a time when consumer price growth was actually deeply undershooting the central bank's 2% target and unemployment remained very high. His concerns, <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-fed-has-hurt-business-investment-1445899627">since reiterated in the occasional opinion piece</a>, have proven deeply misguided since the Fed continues to undershoot its inflation goal to this day. Indeed, bond investors have palpable doubts about the Fed's plans to continue raising interest rates next year and in 2019. <h2>Vocal critic of bond buys, low rates</h2>While Warsh never dissented against the policies of ex-Fed chairman Ben Bernanke, he was always quick to warn of their risks. "I am less optimistic than some that additional asset purchases will have significant, durable benefits for the real economy," <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/fed-governor-warsh-slams-qe-the-federal-reserve-is-not-a-repair-shop-2010-11">he said in November 2010,</a> when the Fed was just about to embark in the second of three rounds of bond purchases that helped stimulate the economy and bring the jobless rate sharply lower to its current 4.4%."Expanding the Fed's balance sheet is not a free option," he warned. "There are significant risks that bear careful monitoring. If the recent weakness in the dollar, run-up in commodity prices, and other forward-looking indicators are sustained and passed along into final prices, the Fed's price stability objective might no longer be a compelling policy rationale. In such a case-even with the unemployment rate still high-the FOMC would have cause to consider the path of policy."That's not what took place, thank goodness for the US economy. In fact, growth, employment and indeed inflation itself would require substantial additional support from the Fed.Critics argue that such asset buys, also known as quantitative easing or QE, have distorted financial markets, driving stocks and other assets to new records and potentially creating bubbles that could come back to haunt the economy. However, the net benefits of the Fed's easy money polices, particularly given inaction on fiscal policy, have been indisputable. In fact, the absence of wage growth and continued undershooting of the central bank's inflation target suggest Fed officials should actually reconsider continued interest rate increases. The Fed has hiked rates four times since December 2015 to the current range of 1.00% to 1.25%. It is expected to hold off this week while it announces <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/fed-set-to-start-reversing-crisis-era-monetary-policy-2017-9">plans to start reducing the $4.4 trillion balance sheet</a> that Warsh fretted so much about. Investors are on the fence about whether the central bank will hike rates again in December. Warsh's mistaken policy views are especially egregious since he was brought into the Fed specifically for his purported expertise in financial markets, which were still sending panic signals even as Warsh tried to strike a more inflation-hawkish, sanguine tone.And he's kept it up, almost as if auditioning to be an eventual candidate for Fed chair under a Republican administration. He's done a good job of it, and appears to be leading the pack following Trump's newfound distance from Gary Cohn, his top economic adviser.After one Warsh editorial, former Obama economic advisor and Clinton Treasury Secretary Larry Summers felt compelled to weigh in, in the harshest of terms."My friends Mike Spence and Kevin Warsh, writing in yesterday's Wall Street Journal, have produced what seems to me the single most confused analysis of US monetary policy that I have read this year," <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/larry-summers-blasts-wsj-op-ed-on-fed-errors-2015-10">Summers wrote in a blog post</a>."Unless I am missing something-which is certainly possible-they make a variety of assertions that are usually exposed as fallacy in introductory economics classes."Sam Bell, a Fed watcher who works at a Washington, DC non-profit focused on social issues, has done a great job of documented the extent of Warsh's flawed policy record."His service was a disaster," <a href="https://medium.com/@sam_a_bell/jared-kushner-for-fed-chair-4d7c33817d8f">Bell writes in a Medium post</a>. Trump's new favorite to lead the Fed almost made the financial crisis a lot worse

Yet that 50/50 ratio doesn't hold true in corporate boardrooms.
This gender disparity is only hurting the companies themselves as <a href="http://catalyst.org/knowledge/bottom-line-corporate-performance-and-womens-representation-boards">studies</a> have shown that Fortune 500 companies with the highest percentage of women board directors financially outperform companies with the lowest percentage.
According to <a href="http://www.catalyst.org/media/companies-more-women-board-directors-experience-higher-financial-performance-according-latest">nonprofit organization Catalyst,</a> companies with the highest percentage of women board directors bring in 42% more in sales and 53% more in return on equity than companies that have the least representation of women on their boards.
Terry J. Lundgren, CEO of Macy's, Inc., said closing the gender gap must first start from <keyword id="34454" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="leadership">leadership</keyword> at the top.
"[CEOs] can do more to promote the females executives in [their] company as candidates," Lundgren said at a recent gathering of the Women's Forum of New York at the New York Stock Exchange. "[CEOs] have relationships where we connect and we have this opportunity to be the advocates." Macy's is one of the small handful of companies that have at least 40% of women represented on their board.
Deanna M. Mulligan, CEO of The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America, spoke on a panel at the Women's Forum and she discussed the graveness of not having enough women voices represented in the corporate world.
"We put a man on the moon," she said. "We should be able to put women on boards."

Natalie Portman, Tom Hanks, Daniel Craig, and other A-list (and B-list) stars are the latest to feel the effects of Sony's hackers.
In new documents obtained by <a href="http://fusion.net/story/32623/sony-pictures-hack-exposes-hollywood-celebrities-secret-aliases/" target="_blank">Fusion</a>, actors' aliases they used to protect themselves while working on Sony projects have been revealed to the public. 
The documents were leaked by the "Guardians of Peace" hacker group, which earlier today <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/sony-demand-studio-to-pull-the-interview-2014-12#ixzz3LLtePQdY" target="_blank">posted a message online</a> demanding that Sony pull "The Interview," a James Franco and Seth Rogen comedy about about two journalists recruited by the CIA to assassinate North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. 
Ahead of the film's December 25th release, Sony has experienced a series of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/sony-hackers-email-threatening-staff-families-2014-12" target="_blank">scary cyber attacks</a>.

On Monday, Sony CEO Michael Lynton <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/sony-internal-security-memo-2014-12" target="_blank">sent a company-wide memo</a> to staff on Monday assuring the studio is doing everything it can to protect employees after a <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/sony-demand-studio-to-pull-the-interview-2014-12#ixzz3LLtePQdY" target="_blank">series of cyber attacks</a> that <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/hacked-sony-docs-top-execs-paychecks-2014-12" target="_blank">revealed their personal information</a>, including Social Security Numbers and addresses. 
Lynton, whose <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/hacked-sony-docs-top-execs-paychecks-2014-12" target="_blank">$3 million salary was revealed</a> in one of the leaks by hackers, promises staffers the FBI "have dedicated their senior staff to this global investigation" and that "recognized experts are working on this matter and looking out for our security."
