Monsoon arrived in <keyword id="6355588" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="rajasthan" source="Orion">Rajasthan</keyword> on Thursday, eight days after the normal onset date. During the last 24 hours, heavy rain was recorded at isolated places in Bhatarpur, Dausa, Alwar, Baran and <keyword id="6354779" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="jaipur" source="Orion">Jaipur</keyword> districts of east Rajasthan. The highest rainfall was recorded in Lawan of Dausa at 100 mm. Director of <keyword id="14335619" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Jaipur-Meteorological-Centre" source="Orion">Jaipur Meteorological Centre</keyword>, Radheshyam Sharma said usually monsoon enters Rajasthan from Kota and <keyword id="42774" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="udaipur" source="Orion">Udaipur</keyword> divisions of south eastern parts, but this time it has entered from Alwar, Kota and Bharatpur in eastern Rajasthan and not from south Rajasthan. Conditions are favourable for further advancement of monsoon into some more parts of the state in the next 24 to 48 hours, he said. According to the meteorological department, during the last 24 hours, 85 mm rainfall was recorded in Shahpura in Jaipur, 85 mm in Bansur of Alwar, 73 mm in Malkheda, 69mm in Shahbad, 61 mm in Dausa, 60 mm in Sawai Madhopur. Rainfall ranging from 58 mm to 30 mm was recorded in many parts. Sharma said till 5.30 pm on Thursday, 53.4 mm of rain was recorded in Alwar, 26.2 mm in Kota, 9.1 mm in Pilani. In the capital city of Jaipur, heavy rain was recorded in the evening, which continued for about half-an-hour, leading to waterlogging at many places. According to the department, till 8.30 pm, 16 mm of rain was recorded in Jaipur, 4 mm in Churu and 28 mm in Kota. Sharma added that most places in east Rajasthan are likely to receive rain and and lightening for the next three days. There is a possibility of heavy rain at some places and 'very heavy' rain at one or two places in the districts of Bharatpur, Kota, Jaipur, Ajmer and Udaipur divisions, he said. He said there is a possibility of rain with thunder lightening at some places in the districts of Bikaner and Jodhpur division of western Rajasthan.  With temperatures dropping to minus 6.5 degrees Celsius, Srinagar recorded the coldest night ever. The hill station of Gulmarg recorded a night temperature of -7.8 degrees on December 29 while the temperature was -10. 2 degrees in Pahalgam.

 The minimum temperature of Patna city plummeted to 6.8 degrees Celsius. Gaya was the coldest place in the state with a low of 5.3 degrees Celsius. In Bhagalpur and Purnia, the minimum temperatures settled at 7.3 degrees and 6.8 degrees, respectively. Meanwhile, coldwave conditions intensified across the state due to a spell of chill and fog, according to the Patna Meteorological Centre. Most places in <keyword id="19898913" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Rajasthan" source="keywords">Rajasthan</keyword> would get some relief from heatwave and <keyword id="21149137" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="maximum-temperatures" source="keywords">maximum temperatures</keyword> are likely to fall by two to three degrees Celsius during the next 48 days, the local weather office said on Saturday. Due to the effect of a new <keyword id="20058025" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="western-disturbance" source="keywords">western disturbance</keyword>, partly cloudy sky is expected in some parts of Bikaner, Jaipur, Bharatpur and Kota divisions during the next 48 hours, according to the Meteorological Centre, Jaipur. Sudden gusty winds and light to moderate rainfall are also likely in these divisions, it said. In the remaining areas, the weather will remain dry, a weather department officer said. The officer said that the maximum temperatures in the state are likely to fall by two to three degrees Celsius and most places are likely to record below 45 degrees Celsius during the next 48 hours. Meanwhile, heatwave conditions prevailed in Sriganganagar, Hanumangarh, Dholpur and Bharatpur. The office said that on June 4 and 5, some places will again experience heatwaves. Heatwave relief in sight for Rajasthan, max temp likely to fall below 45 degrees

Jaipur, <keyword id="6355588" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="rajasthan" source="Orion">Rajasthan</keyword> received 270 mm of <keyword id="47162" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="rainfall" source="Orion">rainfall</keyword> in July, the highest precipitation for the month in nearly seven decades, according to official data. The meteorological department has predicted a fresh round of rains starting this week. According to the data provided by the meteorological centre in Jaipur, the state recorded a rainfall of 270 mm in July -- 67 per cent more than the average of 161.4 mm for the month and the highest in nearly seven decades. In 1956 the state had recorded 308.7 mm of rainfall in the month of July. In July last year Rajasthan received 130.8 mm of rain. The July rainfall in the state stood at 288 mm in 1908; 281.6 mm in 1943; 270 mm in 2022; 262.3 mm in 2015; and 252.3 mm in 2017. The lowest July rainfall of 7.2 mm was recorded in 2002. During the entire <keyword id="6358301" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="monsoon" source="Orion">monsoon</keyword> season that year, the state had only recorded 175.6 mm rain, which is the lowest rainfall recorded till date. Most of the <keyword id="14611441" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="southwest-monsoon-rains-in-Rajasthan" source="Orion">southwest monsoon rains in Rajasthan</keyword> occur in the months of July and August. Western districts of the state received the maximum rainfall this July. Sri Ganganagar district alone received 252.3 mm of rain, which is 235 per cent more than the average (75.3 mm). This time the monsoon had entered the state on June 30. The first round of rain is almost over and the second spell is expected to start this week. According to the meteorological centre, with shifting of the monsoon trough towards its normal position once again, rain activities are likely to increase in the northern and eastern parts of the state from August 3. On August 4, there is a possibility of heavy rain at isolated places in Kota division and adjoining districts of east Rajasthan. Jaipur, May 19 () A low intensity earthquake of magnitude 3.2 hit Rajasthan's Jhunjhunu district on Tuesday, officials said here. No loss of life or property was reported, the district police control room stated. The epicentre of the quake was at a depth of 10 km, said Shiv Ganesh, Director, Meteorological Centre Jaipur.
