The total geological reserves for these eight coal mines are 2157 million tonnes and the cumulative peak rate capacity for these reserves are 19.31 million tonnes per annum. The Coal Ministry will conduct e-auction of two more reserves on Wednesday. Jaiprakash Power Ventures, Avassa Ferro Alloys among successful bidders for commercial coal blocks

Transmission utility <keyword id="6368906" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="power-grid">Power Grid</keyword> Corporation of India Ltd (<keyword id="66427" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="PowerGrid">Powergrid</keyword>) is set to acquire 74 per cent stake in <keyword id="6354937" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Jaypee">Jaypee</keyword> Powergrid Ltd-JV (JPL) for an undisclosed amount. The company on Monday signed a share purchase agreement with <keyword id="139117" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Jaiprakash-Power-Ventures">Jaiprakash Power Ventures</keyword> Ltd (JPVL) that will allow it to take full control of the joint venture. Post acquisition, JPL will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Powergrid. Powergrid, which currently holds 26 per cent equity in JPL, has developed a 214 km long EHV power transmission project to evacuate power from Karcham-Wangtoo project in Himachal Pradesh. The power transmitted is meant for distribution and consumption in states of Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. This deal comes against the backdrop of Powergrid in advanced talks with investors for its first tranche of projects through an infrastructure investment trust (InvIT) route. Post the first tranche, a Rs 10,000 crore second tranche for the InvIT is also in the works as reported earlier. The public sector transmission utility is among the first PSU to to offer an InvIT as part of the government's brownfield asset monetisation strategy.

Power Grid Corporation set to acquire 74% stake of Jaiprakash Power Ventures

Shares of <keyword id="139117" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Jaiprakash-Power-Ventures">Jaiprakash Power Ventures</keyword> were the top gainers on the futures market after the company swung back into a quarterly profit on the back of higher sales. 

	Jaiprakash Power reported a first quarter Net Profit of 64.5 crore rupees compared with a loss of 141.5 crore rupees in the past sequential quarter. Sales during April-June jumped 32 percent to 1,209.4 crore rupees from 915.7 crore rupees in January-March. The company had 2 units coming online this quarter.
 Jaiprakash Power rose 1.35 rupees, or 20 percent, to 8.10 rupees, its highest since May 18, on the <keyword id="53581" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="NATIONAL-STOCK-EXCHANGE">National Stock Exchange</keyword>, where 2.81 crore shares were traded by 3:10 pm compared with the 5-day average of 1.35 crore shares. 

	Jaiprakash Power's market capitalisation has slumped 56 percent in the past one year to 1,980 crore rupees mainly on account of the group's huge debt pile.

Jaiprakash Power Ventures were top gainers on the futures market

In an announcement to <keyword id="35140" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="BSE">BSE</keyword> on Thursday (June 24), Jaiprakash Power Ventures, a subsidiary of Jaypee Group, said, <keyword id="1521617" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Abu-Dhabi-National-Energy-Company">Abu Dhabi National Energy Company</keyword> or TAQA has withdrawn an agreement of acquiring the two hydropower plants of the company located in Karcham and Baspa areas of Himachal Pradesh.
 TAQA had announced in March, 2014 that a consortium led by it had agreed to buy the two plants valued at around Rs 9,689 crore. Analysts regard this as a major setback to <keyword id="45043" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Jaypee-Group">Jaypee Group</keyword>'s debt-reduction plan. Under the deal, TAQA was to have a 51% stake, while Canada's PSP Investments 39% and <keyword id="6361420" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="IDFC">IDFC</keyword> Alternatives 10%. <keyword id="139117" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Jaiprakash-Power-Ventures">Jaiprakash Power Ventures</keyword> said the company received a notice from <keyword id="2441347" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="TAQA-India-Power-Ventures">TAQA India Power Ventures</keyword> that the company was withdrawing from the acquisition agreement signed in March due to a change in its group's business strategy and priorities. "The withdrawal makes TAQA liable to payment of break fee in terms of the said acquisition agreement," the company said its stock exchange filing. <keyword id="64711" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Jaiprakash-Associates">Jaiprakash Associates</keyword>, the flagship company of Jaypee Group, had raised Rs 1,500 crore through qualified institutional placement (QIP) of shares in the beginning of this month. The funds raised through it will be used to repay or pre-pay certain loans, besides making investments in subsidiaries and joint ventures of the company, primarily in the cement and fertilisers space. 

	Jaypee Group has been selling assets to reduce high debt, the standalone debt of Jaiprakash Associates still stood at Rs 28,164 crore as on March 31. Its interest cost for 2013-14 almost doubled to Rs 6,094 crore from Rs 3,134 crore a year earlier. The group raised Rs 15,869 crore via sale of some power and cement assets and land parcels. This will help reduce its debt by about Rs 8,030 crore.

Abu Dhabi’s TAQA Scraps Off Jaypee’s Hydropower Plants Deal

Anil Ambani-led Reliance Power (<keyword id="48071" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="RPower">RPower</keyword>) signed an initial pact in New Delhi on Sunday to acquire the three hydroelectric power plants of <keyword id="1029556" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Jaiprakash-Associates-limited">Jaiprakash Associates Limited</keyword>. SBI Capital Markets is acting as adviser for the proposed transaction. 
 According to a statement issued by the company, <keyword id="2446599" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Reliance-CleanGen-Ltd">Reliance CleanGen Ltd</keyword> (RCL), a 100-per cent subsidiary of Reliance Power Limited , and Jaiprakash Power Ventures Limited (JPVL), a subsidiary of Jaiprakash Associates Limited (Jal), have assigned an exclusive memorandum of understanding for the 100-per cent acquisition by RCL of the entire hydroelectric power portfolio of JPVL. 
 
Jaiprakash Power Ventures Limited’s (JPVL’s) hydroelectric power portfolio has an aggregate capacity of nearly 1,800 MW. This is fully operational and is the largest in the private sector in India. It and with an asset base of over Rs 10,000 crore. The portfolio comprises three plants with an asset life of over 50 years. Each of the plants are using run-of-the-river technology to convert natural water flow to electricity eliminating the need for a large reservoir. 
 
According to RPower, Jaiprakash Associates Limited (Jal) intends to utilise the entire proceeds of the proposed transaction to reduce its outstanding debt. This will deleverage its consolidated balance sheet. It also added that the completion of the proposed transaction would make RPower the largest provider of hydroelectric power in the private sector in India. 
 
RPower has hydroelectric power projects aggregating over 5,000 MW under development, of which 4,200 MW are located in Arunachal Pradesh, 700 MW in Himachal Pradesh and 400 MW in Uttarakhand. 
 
Earlier, an Abu Dhabi-led consortium pulled out of a $ 1.6 billion deal to buy two hydroelectric power plants from JPVL dealing a blow to the Indian Group's efforts to cut its debt. According to a stock exchange filing by Jaiprakash Power, Abu Dhabi National Energy Co (Taqa) told the company that the decision was due to a change in the Group's business strategy and priorities.

RPower Signs Agreement To Buy Jaypee's Hydroelectric Power Plants

New Delhi, Dec 4 () A joint venture of Tata Power and ICICI Bank on Wednesday acquired real estate baron Manoj Gaur's biggest power plant at Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh by agreeing to takeover Rs 6,000 crore of debt of the company.
 Renascent Power Ventures Pvt Ltd, the wholly-owned subsidiary of Resurgent Power Ventures Pte, has acquired 75 per cent stake in Prayagraj Power Generation Co Ltd (PPGCL) which owns and operates 1,980 MW coal-based electricity generation unit, Tata Power said in a regulatory filing.
 Resurgent Power is a joint venture of ICICI Bank and Tata Power, while PPGCL is a subsidiary of Gaur's Jaiprakash Power Ventures Ltd which has been shedding assets to cut debt. 
 It has sold power projects of about 3,800 MW capacity in the last few years to settle debt of close to Rs 21,000 crore.
 Gaur will not get any money from the sale despite putting in Rs 3,000 crore equity.
 His group had last sold two hydroelectric projects -- 300 MW Baspa Stage-II and 1,091 MW Karcham Wangtoo in Himachal Pradesh -- to Sajjan Jindal-controlled JSW Energy Ltd for Rs 9,700 crore in cash.
 After these sales, Jaiprakash Power Ventures has three more power plants with 2,200 MW electricity generation capacity.
 PPGCL had a total debt of Rs 11,000 crore and Renascent has agreed to takeover Rs 6,000 crore.
 "Renascent Power Ventures Pvt Ltd (Renascent) has today acquired 75.01 per cent equity stake and 27,00,00,000 preference shares of Rs 10 each of Prayagraj Power Generation Co Ltd," Tata Power said in the regulatory filing.
 The remaining 25 per cent interest in the project is held by Jaiprakash Associates Ltd and banks.
 Tata Power holds 26 per cent stake in Resurgent Power, the joint venture based out of Singapore, through its wholly-owned Singapore-based subsidiary Tata Power International Pte. 
 The balance 74 per cent stake in Resurgent is held by ICICI Bank, Power Platform Ltd and Kuwait Investment Authority.
 The coal-fired power plant currently operates at 62 per cent of capacity or plant load factor (PLF). 
 It was won by Jaypee Group through competitive bidding, quoting a tariff of Rs 3.06 per unit.
 A case for reduction in electricity tariff was made because of reduction in the debt, but the Appellate Tribunal For Electricity (APTEL) didn't allow it in September order.

Tata Power-ICICI Bank JV acquires Manoj Gaur's Prayagraj power project

New Delhi, Jan 22 () Power Mech Projects on Wednesday announced that it has bagged orders worth Rs 351 crore from state-owned Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) and Jaiprakash Power Ventures.
 In a filing to BSE, the company said that it has "received letter of award/work orders for....civil and architectural works of all buildings structures and associated works... for 2x660 mw Maitree Rampal Project, Bangladesh... for a total contract price of Rs 211 crore awarded by BHEL."
 The project is to be completed in 20 months, the filing said.
 The company said that it has also received work order for operation and maintenance services for 1320 mw Jaypee Nigrie Super Thermal Power Plant at Nigrie, Madhya Pradesh, for a period of five years for a total contract price of Rs 140 crore awarded by Jaiprakash Power Ventures.
 The shares of Power Mech Projects were trading at Rs 729.60 apiece on BSE in morning trade, up 1.62 per cent from the previous close. SID ANS

Power Mech Projects bags orders worth Rs 351 crore

<ul><li>After a 180-day deadline for the resolution of stressed accounts expired at the end of August, 34 power projects were supposed to undergo insolvency proceedings. </li><li>On September 12th, the <keyword id="6354977" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Supreme-Court">Supreme Court</keyword> issued a directive that imposed a stay on all bankruptcy proceedings against defaulters in the <keyword id="6385673" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="power-sector">power sector</keyword>. </li><li>The stressed accounts have been given a deadline of November 14th to undergo resolution. </li></ul>After a 180-day deadline for the resolution of stressed accounts <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/heres-whats-next-after-the-rbis-deadline-for-indian-banks-to-resolve-3-8-trillion-worth-of-bad-loans-has-expired/articleshow/65573551.cms">expired</a> at the end of August, as many as 34 struggling power projects were expected to be referred to insolvency courts. At the time, the promoters of these projects filed an appeal in the Allahabad High Court requesting a stay against bankruptcy proceedings because they needed more time to devise a resolution plan with their creditors. The court refused relief and the issue was subsequently taken to the Supreme Court. On September 12th, the Supreme Court issued a directive that imposed a stay on all bankruptcy proceedings against defaulters, not only in the power sector, but also sugar producers and shipping and textile companies. The stressed accounts have been given a deadline of November 14th, when the next hearing on the matter will take place, to undergo resolution. The ruling will delay the resolution of trillions of rupees worth of <keyword id="142154" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="bad-loans">bad loans</keyword>. So what is the Supreme Court’s rationale behind the directive? For one, power companies will be given more time to negotiate a resolution plan with their creditors. In fact, nine of the 34 projects such as GMR Chhattisgarh and Jaiprakash Power Ventures were nearing an insolvency agreement with their creditors, so the grace period will benefit these projects the most. If the August 27th deadline for insolvency proceedings had been followed, then it would have been difficult to achieve an effective resolution process for each account. Given the lack of demand, they would have likely undergone immediate liquidation with creditors having to take a huge haircut on their claims. During the 180 day period commencing from the release of the RBI’s February 12th circular, the government drew up the <keyword id="6872772" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Pariwartan">Pariwartan</keyword> scheme to resolve stressed power assets. Under the plan, the power assets that aren’t bought by investors will be transferred to an asset reconstruction company (ARC), which will be managed by the state-owned utiltities- Rural Electrification Corp and NTPC Ltd. However, the scheme is yet to receive the approval of the RBI and the main creditors of the power projects. The two-month grace period granted by the Supreme Court will give the government time to finetune the scheme and gather creditor support.

HCL lays off 350 employees across India, Guatemala and the Philippines

While all eyes are on <keyword id="2900267" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="byju" source="Orion">BYJU</keyword>'s much-awaited FY21 financial results that were set to be revealed on Wednesday, the edtech major has registered nearly Rs 9,991 crore in revenues in its FY22 financial results and its core K12 education business is growing very fast, top sources have revealed. In six months from February 2022 till July 2022, the company logged Rs 6,175 crore revenue, breaking all previous sales records, three people close to the matter told IANS. This is a substantial gain from its FY20 financial report, when the company registered revenue of Rs 2,434 crore with a net profit of Rs 51 crore. BYJU's investors were ecstatic at the company's growth in the core business in the recently-concluded meeting, sources told IANS, as the company logged 50 per cent growth (year-on-year) in its core K12 India business at Rs 1,205 crore, leaving no competition anywhere near it. After getting acquired by BYJU's for $1 billion last year, <keyword id="3406091" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="aakash-educational-services" source="Orion">Aakash Educational Services</keyword> (AESL) has transformed into a hybrid edtech firm, expanding rapidly across the country, which is one of the key reasons behind BYJU's FY22 success. Meanwhile, after nearly 18 months delay of "ironing out the complexities", edtech major BYJU's was all set to reveal its financial report for FY21. BYJU's logs nearly  ₹10K crore revenue in FY22, tops estimates

New Delhi, Jan 27 () Jaiprakash Power Ventures (JPVL) on Monday said it has appointed R K Porwal as Chief Financial Officer of the company.
 Porwal is a chartered accountant besides holding masters' degree in commerce and LLB. He has over 32 years of post-qualification experience in finance, accounts, taxation, auditing, contract management. 
 "The board has approved the appointment of R K Porwal as Chief Financial Officer... with effect from January 27, 2020, based on the assessment of the nomination and remuneration committee and recommendation and approval of the audit committee of the company," a BSE filing said. KKS KKS ANS

JPVL appoints R K Porwal as Chief Financial Officer

New Delhi, Feb 12 () Jaiprakash Power Ventures Ltd (JPVL) on Wednesday reported widening of its consolidated net loss to Rs 1,816.05 crore for the December quarter, mainly due to lower revenues. The firm had posted a net loss of Rs 95.21 crore in the year ago period, it said in a regulatory filing. Total revenue dropped to Rs 880.37 crore in the quarter ended December 2019, from Rs 1,025.07 crore earlier. For the April-December period of this fiscal, consolidated net loss rose to Rs 2,076.31 crore, compared to Rs 122.17 crore a year ago. JPVL Q3 net loss widens to Rs 1,816 cr

New Delhi, Jan 2 () JSW Energy on Thursday said it has entered into a pact with Jaiprakash Power Ventures Ltd (JPVL) to restructure outstanding debt of Rs 751.77 crore owed to the company. 
Under the pact, an amount of Rs 351.77 crore will be converted into equity shares of JPVL with a face value of Rs 10 each and Rs 280 crore will be written off, JSW Energy said in a BSE filing.
"Out of the balance outstanding principal amount of Rs 400 crore, Rs 280 crore to be written off and Rs 120 crore to continue as debt to be paid by JPVL to the company, quarterly on priority basis, out of the available cash flows after JPVL has paid 10 per cent of the re-structured sustainable debt to its secured lenders," the filing added.
Sajjan Jindal-led JSW Energy Ltd (JEL) said it has already made a provision for Rs 574.19 crore in March quarter 2018 for restructuring of the debt.
"Further, JPVL and the company have agreed to waive their respective rights to receive any payments from each other and unconditionally release each other from all liabilities in relation to the Securities Purchase Agreement dated November 16, 2014 for transfer of Karcham and Baspa hydro assets from JPVL to the Company," it added. 
 This will result in reversal of an amount of Rs 177.48 crore of liabilities payable to JPVL in JEL's books, it said. KKS KKS ANU

JSW Energy inks pact to restructure Rs 752 cr debt on JPVL

New Delhi, Feb 4 () JSW Energy on Tuesday said its consolidated net profit jumped over twofold to Rs 394 crore during the December 2019 quarter, mainly helped by reduced expenses.
 The company had clocked a Rs 146-crore net profit during the corresponding quarter a year ago, JSW Energy said in a BSE filing.
 Its total income in the October-December 2019 period fell to Rs 2,106 crore, from Rs 2,491 crore in the corresponding period a year ago.
 The firm's total expenses also dropped to Rs 1,864 crore, against Rs 2,271 crore in the October-December quarter of 2018-19.
 In a statement, JSW Energy said a debt restructuring agreement with Jaiprakash Power Ventures Ltd (JPVL) completed during the third quarter, "whereby the company has acquired 5 per cent equity stake in JPVL, in addition to Rs 120 crore continuing as loan repayable from JPVL to the company".
 Further, both parties have agreed to forego their respective rights and obligations in relation to the securities purchase agreement for transfer of Karcham and Baspa hydro assets, it said.
 "For GMR Kamalanga Energy Ltd of 1050 MW (megawatts), discussions are progressing well between the company and GMR Energy Ltd for an expeditious closure. And, for Ind-Barath Energy (Utkal) Ltd (700 MW), approval by National Company Law Tribunal is under process for the resolution plan submitted by the company," it said.
 Transfer of JSW Energy (Kutehr) Ltd by the company to JSW Hydro Energy Ltd, wholly-owned subsidiary of the company, also stands completed, it added.
 Short-term sales during the quarter were lower at 541 million units as compared to 1,112 million units in the third quarter of 2018-19 due to lower short-term sales at both Ratnagiri and Vijayanagar plants, the company said. ABI HRS
