But this time, the man is from the North, the woman is from the South and the cultural clashes, strongly upheld by the two pairs of in-laws, nearly ruin the relationship. Inspired by <keyword id="6390428" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Chetan-Bhagat">Chetan Bhagat</keyword>’s best-selling novel, <keyword id="694041" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="2-States-The-Story-of-My-Marriage">2 States: The Story of My Marriage</keyword>, the Arjun Kapoor-Alia Bhatt-starrer <keyword id="72970" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="2-States">2 States</keyword> sparkles on-screen (at least during the first half) and has made a big bang at the <keyword id="827271" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Domestic-Box-Office">domestic box office</keyword>, collecting around Rs 38 crore nett over its debut weekend. The first Monday (Day 4, April 21) did not disappoint either and earnings stood at around Rs 6 crore, as per Koimoi. Total <keyword id="1996079" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Overseas-collections">overseas collections</keyword> during the first weekend amounted to an estimated Rs 13.66 crore. 
 
“2 States has a FANTABULOUS weekend. Friday Rs 12.42 crore, Saturday 12.13 crore, Sunday 13.51 crore. Total: Rs 38.06 crore nett. SUPER HIT,” tweeted trade analyst Taran Adarsh. According to <keyword id="255727" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Box-Office-India">Box Office India</keyword>, the film has emerged as the biggest hit of 2014 and has the potential to be the first Super Hit film of the year, depending on how well it can sustain over the next 10 days or so. 
 
Other two releases of the week include <keyword id="1135108" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Dekh-Tamasha-Dekh">Dekh Tamasha Dekh</keyword>, a brutally honest and vitriolic political <keyword id="1462374" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Satire">satire</keyword> directed by theatre icon Feroz Abbas Khan (of Tumhari Amrita fame), and <keyword id="1167288" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Lucky-Kabootar">Lucky Kabootar</keyword>, a <keyword id="24069" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="romantic-comedy">romantic comedy</keyword> starring <keyword id="1364986" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Eijaaz-Khan">Eijaaz Khan</keyword> and <keyword id="3212" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Kulraj-Randhawa">Kulraj Randhawa</keyword>. The latter, directed by <keyword id="1660883" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Shammi-Chhabra">Shammi Chhabra</keyword>, has been released after too many delays and depicts how <keyword id="6369280" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Lucky">Lucky</keyword> (Eijaaz) ends up marrying the Plain Jane <keyword id="1734" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Laxmi">Laxmi</keyword> (Kulraj), instead of the glam babe <keyword id="190428" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Kammo">Kammo</keyword> (<keyword id="33221" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Shraddha-Das">Shraddha Das</keyword>). But for both the movies, the collections are hardly notable, thanks to very little promotion and near-zero hype. While Lucky Kabootar collected a little over Rs 1 crore in the first two days (Sunday and Monday numbers are still <keyword id="6357415" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="60" keywordseo="missing">missing</keyword>), Dekh Tamasha Dekh garnered around Rs 4.7 crore during the same time span. But we will take a closer look at these two after decoding the tremendous <keyword id="25892" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="box-office">box office</keyword> success of 2 States. 
 
 
 With the <keyword id="6364416" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Good-Friday">Good Friday</keyword> fervour adding to its charm, <keyword id="2208706" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Abhishek-Varman-directed">Abhishek Varman-directed</keyword> 2 States saw 50-60% occupancy at multiplexes on the first day and also did well in the mass belt. Till date, the best performers are Mumbai and Mysore, with Mumbai amassing over Rs 13 crore nett and Mysore collecting around Rs 3 crore nett. The movie’s opening is the second biggest ever for a non-star-cast film after <keyword id="6621270" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Grand-Masti">Grand Masti</keyword> (2013). <keyword id="127336" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bhaag-Milkha-Bhaag">Bhaag Milkha Bhaag</keyword> (2013), <keyword id="549195" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="Student-of-the-Year">Student Of The Year</keyword> (2012) and <keyword id="1710502" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Shuddh-Desi-Romance">Shuddh Desi Romance</keyword> (2013) are the next in order after 2 States. 2 States is also one of the highest grossers of 2014 and has already surpassed the lifetime collections of some noted <keyword id="569603" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bollywood-flicks">Bollywood flicks</keyword> including <keyword id="1520199" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Hasee-Toh-Phasee">Hasee Toh Phasee</keyword>, <keyword id="853887" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Shaadi-Ke-Side-Effects">Shaadi Ke Side Effects</keyword>, <keyword id="6354768" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Highway">Highway</keyword> and <keyword id="1434830" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Yaariyan">Yaariyan</keyword>. That is definitely good news for producers <keyword id="27326" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sajid-Nadiadwala">Sajid Nadiadwala</keyword> and <keyword id="3778" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Karan-Johar">Karan Johar</keyword>. 
 Going by its <keyword id="1996031" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Box-office-performance">box office performance</keyword>, 2 States seems to have done a commendable job, with <keyword id="6354526" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Alia-Bhatt">Alia Bhatt</keyword> (<keyword id="2204646" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Ananya-Swaminathan">Ananya Swaminathan</keyword>) and <keyword id="114453" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Arjun-Kapoor">Arjun Kapoor</keyword> (<keyword id="2204645" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Krish-Malhotra">Krish Malhotra</keyword>) showing a rare on-screen chemistry that rocks and sizzles. The young people meet at the <keyword id="6429635" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="IIM-Ahmedabad">IIM-Ahmedabad</keyword> campus and fall in love, but it is, by no means, a campus romance as harsh social realities await them outside. And the movie, too, stumbles at that point as we are led to <keyword id="122267" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="orthodox">orthodox</keyword> households (Krish is a <keyword id="5105" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Punjabi">Punjabi</keyword> lad and Ananya is a <keyword id="6356629" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="tamil">Tamil</keyword> lass from Chennai as all of you must know by now), instead of modern abodes housing millennial open culture, and two pairs of stereotype Bollywood parents. The rest of the struggles and tribulations faced by the young lovers follow the beaten path until the final-and-inevitable reconciliation that makes everyone happy. 
 
Interestingly, Bhagat’s work has managed to ward off the cliché that lies inherent in cultural clashes and generation gaps. However, the movie has an overdose of everything although it manages to retain some kind of charm that will keep you hooked. As Saibal Chatterjee of NDTV so rightly pointed out, “2 States is a <keyword id="2208734" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Cross-culture-love-story">cross-culture love story</keyword> that strives to be sweet, funny and emotionally wrenching all at once. It is occasionally funny and sweet in parts all right, but the <keyword id="1204454" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="family-drama">family drama</keyword> at the film’s core has a severely stultified feel… It sets out to be a slice-of-life drama about a real couple grappling with the politics of <keyword id="2208729" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Inter-community-marriage">inter-community marriage</keyword>, but it fails to generate enough energy and warmth to draw the audience into a tight clinch.” 
 
In stark contrast to 2 States, Dekh Tamasha Dekh (starring <keyword id="317266" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Vinay-Jain">Vinay Jain</keyword>, <keyword id="2218" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Satish-Kaushik">Satish Kaushik</keyword> and <keyword id="1559" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="tanvi-azmi">Tanvi Azmi</keyword>) is based on a true story and ruthlessly reveals a nation’s <keyword id="2208740" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Political-hypocrisy">political hypocrisy</keyword> and <keyword id="877158" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Communal-Disharmony">communal disharmony</keyword> with the help of its twin tools – satire and <keyword id="424300" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Irony">irony</keyword>. Too many human elements are woven here in a complex tapestry, but the very core of <keyword id="6355987" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="violence">violence</keyword>, <keyword id="6388475" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="tragedy">tragedy</keyword> and hopelessness would hit us hard and keep us wondering about the multi-layered reality we are compelled to confront every day. Although not a typical art house film, this movie is meant for a niche audience and offers a <keyword id="2208742" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Gripping-tale">gripping tale</keyword> of the <keyword id="911828" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="dark-forces">dark forces</keyword> that we are not likely to forget in a hurry.

In Big Bucks; Dekh Tamasha Dekh Offers A Gripping Tale

Through a combination of old prejudices and present-day conventional wisdom about inherited birth defects, first cousin marriage is seen by many as a little too close for comfort, as well as a bad idea if you want children.
However, first cousin marriage is far more common, and far less dangerous, than many of us have been led to believe, as you'll soon see. Further, if you include second cousins in the mix, according to the Clinical Genetics Handbook, the increased risks with regards to having children are nearly non-existent in this case compared with non-cousin marriage.
Banning Cousin Marriages
While there have been instances of the banning of marriage between cousins at various points through history, such as the Roman Catholics banning the practice for a time starting with the Council of Agde in 506 AD, for the most part marriage among cousins has been popular as long as people have been getting married. In fact, it is estimated that<a href="http://www.todayifoundout.com/index.php/2014/02/people-stop-thinking-appropriate-cousins-marry/Professor%20Robin%20Fox%20of%20Rutgers%20University,%20it%20is%20likely%20that%2080%%20of%20all%20marriages%20in%20history%20may%20have%20been%20between%20second%20cousins%20or%20closer." target="_blank"> as many as 80% of the marriages in human history</a> have been between first or second cousins.
This switch in cousin-marriage's acceptance began in earnest in some parts of the Western world in the mid-19th century. Specifically, until the 1860s or so, first cousins commonly married in Europe and the U.S. In fact, Charles Darwin, Mr. Natural Selection himself, was married to his first cousin Emma Wedgwood.
Nonetheless, the practice soon fell out of fashion in the United States. Although never outlawed in England, during the second half of the 19th century, many states began to ban marriages between first cousins, as part of a larger movement after the Civil War for greater state involvement in a variety of areas, including education, health and safety.
Researchers note that the distinction in marriage bans between England and the U.S. may be explained by the fact that, in the United States, the practice "<a href="http://www.plosbiology.org/article/info:doi/10.1371/journal.pbio.0060320" target="_blank">was associated not with the aristocracy and upper middle class [Queen Victoria and Prince Albert were second cousins] but with much easier targets: immigrants and the rural poor</a>."
Regardless, cousin marriage bans began popping up across the states, with the first in Kansas (1858). Ohio, NH, NV, ND, SD, WA and WY banned the practice in the 1860s, and many more had enacted bans by the 1920s. The most recent state to ban cousin marriage was Texas in 2005.
Today, <a href="http://www.ncsl.org/research/human-services/state-laws-regarding-marriages-between-first-cousi.aspx">first cousins may not marry in</a> AR, DE, IA, ID, KS, KY, LA, MI, MN, MS, MO, MT, NE, NV, NH, ND, OH, OK, OR, PA, SD, TX, WA and WV. First cousin marriage is allowed without restriction in 19 states, and with some restrictions in AZ, IL, IN, ME, UT, WI and NC (in North Carolina, while first cousins may marry, "double cousins" may not- more on this one in a bit.)
The distinction lies in the debate about whether or not there is an increased risk that the partners' shared genes will produce an increased chance that their offspring will have recessive, undesirable traits. A recent report on births in a British-Pakistani community (where first cousin marriage is very common) demonstrated that first cousin children there were twice as likely to be born with "<a href="http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-families/health-news/marriage-between-first-cousins-doubles-risk-of-having-baby-with-lifethreatening-birth-defects-8686232.html" target="_blank">potentially life threatening birth defects</a>" as compared with the children of unrelated parents.
Advocates on the other side point out that this resulted in <a href="http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-families/health-news/marriage-between-first-cousins-doubles-risk-of-having-baby-with-lifethreatening-birth-defects-8686232.html" target="_blank">only a 6% chance</a> for the children in the study, as compared with a 3% chance for the population as a whole. For your reference, this increase in birth defect rate is about the same as the increased risk of a woman having a baby when she is 40 vs. when she is 30. Proponents here point out that few would advocate banning a 40 year old woman from having children.
They also point to recent testing that placed the increased risk of spina bifida and cystic fibrosis at only 1.7% -2.8% higher than for children of unrelated parents. Further, researchers point out that "the widely accepted scare stories - even within academia - and the belief that cousin marriage is inevitably harmful have declined in the face of some of the data we've been producing."
Double Cousins
Some reconcile the two findings by noting that the children born with defects in the recent British study may, in fact, have been <a href="http://www.11points.com/Dating-Sex/11_State_Laws_About_Marrying_Your_Cousins,_From_Strictest_to_Loosest">double cousins</a> (best explained by an example):

If a girl and her sister . . . meet two brothers, they pair off . . and each couple produces a baby . . . those kids [would be double cousins]
</blockquote>
A community nurse who works among the Pakistani community in the British study <a href="http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-514911/Tragedy-children-born-genetic-defects-parents-cousins.html" target="_blank">opined</a>:

A first cousin marries a first cousin and the couple's own grandparents are cousins, too. I have heard of first-cousin marriages going back generation after generation in some families.
</blockquote>
Cross-Cousins vs. Parallel Cousins 
In some societies, first cousin marriage is traditional and well-accepted, although many make a distinction between "cross-cousins" and "parallel cousins."
Cross cousins have parents who are siblings, but of the opposite sex. The parents of parallel cousins are also siblings but are of the same sex (<a href="http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/media/119386/In-many-cultures-that-differentiate-between-parallel-and-cross-cousins" target="_blank">this chart</a> may help explain).
In cultures where cross cousins are encouraged and parallel discouraged, it is often an inherited taboo, passed down from when there was greater inter-marriage and inter-mingling among the members of an extended family - with a greater chance that <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parallel_and_cross_cousins" target="_blank">first cousins could also be half-siblings</a>:

Fathers who are also brothers may overtly or covertly share sexual relations with the wife of one or the other . . . . Likewise, mothers who are also sisters may overtly or covertly share sexual access to the husband of one or the other, raising the possibility that apparent parallel cousins are actually half-siblings, sired by the same father . . . .[With] cross cousins, because in the absence of full-sibling incest, it is unlikely [they] . . . can share a father . . . [unless a] mother had a brother whose wife was impregnated by [mother's husband].
</blockquote>
This is not very likely to happen in modern societies that practice first-cousin marriage. In fact, in a number of countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Yemen and in the Palestinian Territories, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parallel_and_cross_cousins" target="_blank">paternal parallel cousin marriage is the preferred form of consanguineous marriage</a>.
Cousin Marriages Today
Globally, cousin marriages are still going strong, with an estimated 10% of all marriages in the world being between cousins, and has high as 50% in some regions of the world. In addition to those countries mentioned above, the "<a href="http://www.demographic-research.org/volumes/vol30/9/30-9.pdf" target="_blank">overwhelming majority of cross-cousin marriages appear among the Islamic cultures of North Africa, and those of West and Central Asia</a>."
However, cousin marriage is making a comeback in the U.S., as well, as more and more studies continue to debunk the overblown risks once commonly touted.
First cousins marrying in 21st century America discover that many states no longer regulate the practice. Likewise, most sects of Christianity do not forbid it, which would be hard to do given cases like Isaac and Rebekah in the Book of Genesis. For instance, the Methodist Church, has "<a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/26/garden/26cousins.html?pagewanted=all" target="_blank">no official position on marriage between cousins</a>."
Nonetheless, it's not easy being in a first cousin marriage in some regions of the world. As <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/26/garden/26cousins.html?pagewanted=all" target="_blank">one man in such a relationship</a> recently discussed, some members of the couple's immediate family no longer speak to them and have never met the couple's children. On top of that, he stated,

We don't typically tell folks. We told our daughters, "It's not something to be ashamed of, but [don't] tell your friends . . . people are fickle, and preteens and teens can be downright cruel."

But what is a coronation, and what can we expect? A coronation is a ritual act bestowing a crown (or similar decorative head-piece) symbolising royal or imperial power. In this case, God bringing together the monarch and people in commemoration of Jesus' last supper, self-giving death and salvific resurrection. The liturgy comprises six key elements, defined by the Anglican rite as "the recognition, the oath, the anointing, the investiture (which includes the crowning), the enthronement and the homage." Special instruments are used to symbolise the monarch's sacred office. Saint Edward's crown and chair (symbolising the monarch's significance and connection to British and Christian tradition), the sceptre (an ancient biblical symbol of rule), the orb with cross (symbolising the whole world under Christ) and a ring (symbolising the monarch's "marriage" to his or her people, in a way like Christ is said by <keyword id="216800" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="st-paul" source="Orion">St Paul</keyword> to be married to the Church). While all these symbols are important, the anointing of the monarch with holy oil (chrism) is perhaps the most significant moment of the liturgy. This was the one moment not televised during Elizabeth II's coronation service. Like the Eucharist, anointing is an ancient sacramental practice of Christians used in baptism and confirmation. The anointing by the Archbishop fundamentally marks the body of the monarch as a special sign and for a special purpose. Under the traditions of the coronation, the anointing is said to bestow God's grace on the monarch to become a living sign of God's mercy, justice and love in the world. In this, the monarch is not divine or absolute in power, but rather relies on the sovereignty and power of God. As such, God enables the monarch to exercise his or her office in selfless service, duty and love in the manner of Jesus Christ and in relationship with him. Here, the monarch becomes an anointed symbolon (sacrament) who expresses the meaning of life, community and faith in his or her person as a special mediator of Christ. This symbolic power is deep and primal, as was shown in the reverence for Queen Elizabeth II's body at her death. The coronation ritual highlights the Christian-state nexus that remains at the heart of the British polity. An established church seems anachronistic in a secular age and arguably compromises both the church and politics. Nevertheless, despite declining in numbers, Anglicanism provides a common, transcendent frame-of-reference for fundamental values and virtues, in an age struggling with individualism, division and fragmentation. Charles III's coronation Given the importance of tradition for British society, the establishment position of the Church of England and Charles' own personal faith, the rite of coronation will remain broadly the same. As with Elizabeth, the ritual will be Anglican in format, though likely streamlined from what we saw in 1953. We can also expect it will include ecumenical (reflecting other Christian churches) and inter-religious elements, to which Charles and recent British monarchs have become more sensitive. In essence, the coronation will present the vision of a British monarchy representing loving service, loyalty and duty before God, tradition and a diverse people and nation. <ul><li>Social media trolls are not going to disappear from the internet anytime soon.</li><li>Trolls can heavily tarnish a brand’s image, also significantly impacting the brand’s marketing plans to promote any newly launched product or service. </li><li>Tanvi Bosmia, Associate Account Director - Brand Experience, SoCheers shares some tips on how to deal with social media trolls.</li></ul>We’re living in an era where access to the internet is super easy. People love sharing their unfiltered opinion on social media considering it has always been a space for freedom of expression whether it’s a compliment for the brand or a complaint against them. Each individual is entitled to their opinion, no matter the impact it could have on the person or the brand on the receiving end. Brands today need to have a social media presence, period. It’s the easiest way to reach an exponentially large audience. And with all the positive aspects of this exposure, there also comes a negative side - the Trolls! Though ‘boycott culture’ is as old as social media, unfortunately, 2021 can be labelled a year of outrage as many brands were made to pull off their ads. For instance, Tata’s jewellery brand, Tanishq, faced a considerable amount of backlash for its advertisement showcasing their new collection Ekatvam, featuring an interfaith babyshower. The brand got heavily trolled for promoting inter-faith marriages and “love jihad”, and soon saw a boycott trend as well. This led to a fall in stocks for Titan amid all the trolling and Tanishq pulling the video down, even though the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) said that there was nothing indecent or vulgar or repulsive in the advertisement, to cause grave and widespread offense. Similarly, there were many campaigns like Manyavar’s “Kanyamaan”, Dabur’s Karwachauth ad, Sabyasachi's "Mangalsutra Collection'', FabIndia's “Jashn-e-Riwaaz” and so on and so forth, who faced major fallout for their progressive thoughts. Unfortunately, such trolls can heavily tarnish a brand’s image, also significantly impacting the brand’s marketing plans to promote any newly launched product or service. This also leads to the brand’s message getting lost in all the chaos created by these trolls. This in turn leads to upsetting consumers who are actually there with genuine intent. Here are some solutions for managing these troll situations better: <ol><li>Effective ORM Practices: Trolls don’t always easily stand out and it could be difficult for the brand to identify between an unhappy customer and a troll. Usually, trolls initiate a conversation which is controversial in nature whereas an unhappy customer will settle down once their complaint is addressed and resolved. The timing is super important and considering how fast social media platforms move, it’s essential for the brand to ensure that they respond within an hour’s time and give out a contact number/email ID to write to or simply ask them to “DM” (direct message) to take the conversation further. Any delay in response from the brand’s end can lead to speculation and stir up further agitation in the customer. Timely responses play a very important role and can go a long way in converting the unhappy customers into a part of their community which will also help in weakening the troll community.</li></ol>1. Do(n’t) Engage With Trolls: Once the brand has identified a troll, indulging in a conversation with them could be tricky. Anything that goes out from the brand’s handle on social media is a direct reflection on the company and one wrong response could have an entirely irreversible and negative impact on the brand image. Hence, responding with factually correct information can help defeat these trolls. Having said that, it is also difficult to reason with trolls and getting into an argument with them could only fuel the fire further. So, in such cases, the ideal solution for the brand would be to report their messages/comments and also watch out for anyone else interacting with the troll to avoid it from escalating. 2. Effective Crisis Management: Setting up a crisis committee who can create a plan of action that consists of all the possible solutions for every type of message or comment can help the brand to be prepared for anything that comes next and tackle it accordingly. Social Listening is a really effective way to monitor and track any negative sentiment that pops up about the brand on the internet and makes it easier to take action in real time. There are various listening tools that can help to effectively tackle the trolls, avert any such crisis and avoid the brand image from getting hampered. 3. Making Happy Customers Your Spokesperson: Set clear guidelines to ensure that all communication that goes out from the brand handle is religiously/politically safe and doesn’t hurt anyone’s sentiments. Identify brand ambassadors from their followers who ardently follow everything that they post and can speak for the brand, building a positive sentiment about the company. Maintain full transparency and put out content that showcases the values the brand stands for and how valuable their customers and their feedback is for them. This, in the long run will help build a community that will also police these trolls and stand by the brand in crisis situations. For instance, Flipkart got trolled last year after one of its service executives told a customer that the company cannot deliver goods in Nagaland because it doesn’t “deliver outside India”. The response was probably a genuine error; however, it was too late by the time Flipkart realized and apologized since they had already been hit by the trolls. To sum it up, social media trolls are not going to disappear from the internet anytime soon. The best way to avoid getting trolled is to be fully prepared and set up a process with the team that manages the brand handles on how they will deal with trolls or unhappy customers before any such situation arises. Once the process is in place, based on learnings, the brand can chart out a detailed plan of action on how they will address &amp; tackle the various different situations that could arise in the future and also ensure the brand image is intact.

New Delhi, July 11 (IANSlife) Family planning is central to gender equality and womens empowerment, and it is a key factor in reducing poverty. Millions of girls and women in India can transform their lives if needs for family planning - to delay, space and limit the number of children that women have - are met. Beyond health, there are many far-reaching, transformational and inter-generational effects of women being able to use contraception and take control of their fertility. At the household level, families are able to invest more of their scarce resources in the health and education of their children. Girls from smaller families are more likely to complete their education and women with fewer children are more able to seek employment, increasing household income and assets, points out Madhu Joshi, Sr. Advisor, Gender Equity and Governance, Centre for Catalyzing Change. Some progress has been made towards improving gender equity so that women have greater involvement in decision-making processes and positions in government. Increasing educational opportunities for girls protects them from premature marriage and childbearing and helps address gender inequalities in economic participation. Family planning empowers women to take charge of their lives whilst also enhancing their contributions to family wellbeing and overall national development, Joshi says. Efforts are underway to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 on family planning access and service delivery. Measures have been taken to reach out with non-invasive methods to communities in conjunction with tracking and tracing of people who are at risk of COVID-19. She points out: "The estimates done by FRHS in the month of April 2020 presented three case scenarios based on timings of complete restoration of FP services. In the best case scenario with FP services restoration in the month of May 2020 in full capacity across the nation, it was estimated that as a result of the pandemic, 24.55 million couples would not be able to access contraceptives in 2020. Method wise the loss is estimated at 530,737 sterilizations, 709,088 Inter Uterine Contraceptive Devices (IUCDs), 509,360 doses Injectable contraceptives (IC), 20 million cycles of OCPs, 827,332 ECPs and 342.11 million condoms. "This is likely to result in an additional 1.94 million unintended pregnancies, 555,833 live births, 1.18 million abortions (including 681,883 unsafe abortions) and 1,425 maternal deaths. What is important is that we do not allow the pandemic to reverse the hard earned gains of past decade for increased family planning uptake." Adding: "It becomes imperative for all stakeholders to examine the opportunity loss as a result of COVID19 pandemic and put Family Planning back on track as we deal with the pandemic through strategic engagement; amongst the top priorities is to reach out to most vulnerable populations who may not be able to articulate latent need for contraception  mostly women dealing with loss of livelihoods, facing violence and discrimination; young couples who would not be able to access because of barriers of information and social pressure." We need to undertake concerted efforts to ensure that opportunity loss is reversed and couples who desire contraception can access it free from discrimination and with quality, and are to be able to reverse losses and ensure that decadal gains are not reversed. That multi-pronged efforts are being undertaken by government at all levels to bring FP service delivery on track. On World Population Day, Joshi recommends that "we reinforce, the need to keep listening to voices and support women and men in Choices they make for family planning". Community based distribution of non-invasive contraception be promoted through channels beyond frontline functionaries of the health system. Modifying delivery mechanisms along the lifecycle continuum of care for women and girls and including self-care across the spectrum of services offered, can increase access to care during calm times and crises. Bringing focus on spacing contraception which is non-invasive (condoms, daily and weekly pill) and minimally invasive (injectable) not just to promote choice also to reduce pressure on a burdened health system dealing with rising COVID19 numbers. <ul><li>Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) also received a complaint against the <keyword id="10099376" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="tanishq-advertisement">Tanishq advertisement</keyword>, stating that it promoted communal intermingling. </li><li>The industry body has, however, dismissed the consumer complaint. </li></ul>Tanishq launched a campaign ‘Ekatvam’, which showed the baby shower of a Hindu woman married to a Muslim man. The ad, if anything, celebrated inclusivity by showcasing an inter-faith marriage. The ad however, did not go down well with a lot of people. The ad was trolled by people who said it normalized ‘Love jihad’. The brand, to the disappointment of a lot of people, succumbed to this social media trolling and removed it from all its social media handles. The Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) also received a complaint against the Tanishq advertisement, stating it to be objectionable since it promoted communal intermingling and the industry body has dismissed the complaints. The advertisement in question was viewed at ASCI by an independent multi stakeholder panel- The Consumer Complaints Council, which balances view points from industry, civil society, lawyers, consumer activists as well as domain experts. This panel was unanimous that nothing in the advertisement was indecent or vulgar or repulsive, which is likely in the light of generally prevailing standards of decency and propriety, to cause grave and widespread offence. The complaint was not upheld, as the advertisement did not violate the ASCI codes of honesty, truthfulness and decency in advertising. Therefore, ASCI has no objection to the airing of this advertisement, should the advertiser choose to do so. The India Chapter of the International Advertising Association (IAA) appealed to the concerned Governments to take a serious view of such intimidating behaviour. It said that any attempt to stifle with the fundamental right to express and receive commercial expression as guaranteed in Section 19 (1) (A) of the Constitution of India, should be condemned in the strongest of terms. IAA spokesperson said, "The IAA has always stood for freedom of commercial speech and expression, self-regulation and gender-parity. Our many meaningful initiatives in these areas stand testimony to that commitment. The marcom industry has always used its creative depth to create messages that promote amity, peace and harmony in every area of life and work. . The events which led to the recent Tanishq advertisement being pulled back are very unfortunate. While we respect the opinion of every individual on subjective matters, these should not descend to illegal threats and anti-social behaviour. We appeal to the concerned Governments to take a serious view of such intimidating behaviour and take exemplary action where required to ensure that businesses are provided a safe environment to communicate their brand advertising messages and contribute to economic resurgence of the country. Advertising Agencies Association of India (AAAI) also disapproved the targeting of the recent <keyword id="2851713" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tanishq-Ad">Tanishq ad</keyword> featuring an inter-faith couple. In a statement released to the press, The association said, " The threats against Tanishq as well as its employees, which led to the withdrawal of the advertisement, are a matter of great regret and concern. The advertisement in question, in fact, had been viewed at the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) by an independent panel- The Consumer Complaints Council, which is representative of multiple stakeholders from industry, civil society, lawyers and consumer activists. The panel found nothing in the advertisement that was indecent or objectionable or repulsive that could lead to grave and widespread offence. There is a consensus among all allied bodies and The International Advertising Association (IAA) India Chapter and The Advertising Club also support this." Tanishq had also issued an apology and pulled down its ad after its employees received several threats. “The idea behind the Ekatvam campaign is to celebrate the coming together of people from different walks of life, local communities and families during these challenging times and celebrate the beauty of oneness. This film has stimulated divergent and severe reactions, contrary to its very objective,” said Tanishq Spokesperson.

By the fourth or higher generation, only half identify as Hispanic.&#xa0;"Yet another irony is the fact that many who prefer getting rid of 'hyphenated Americanism' refer even to second, third gen Hispanic Americans as 'Mexicans' - rather than Americans," Castro added in another tweet.
