The central government's decision to increase the domestic administered pricing mechanism (APM) gas price will negate the benefit of increased APM gas allocation to compressed natural gas (CNG) players, <keyword id="151304" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="jefferies" source="Orion">Jefferies</keyword> said in a report. In a report, Jefferies said the CNG players have limited room to increase the prices given worsening economics. According to the report, GAIL, Indraprastha Gas and <keyword id="156122" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="mahanagar-gas" source="Orion">Mahanagar Gas</keyword> are the key losers, <keyword id="6355199" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="reliance-industries" source="Orion">Reliance Industries</keyword> Ltd could be a marginal beneficiary. The allocation of high pressure and high temperature (HPHT) gas from Reliance Industries' KG Field by end of 2022 and new pricing formula from a government appointed committee could provide some respite. The APM gas price has been revised from $6.26/mmbtu (effective) to $8.57/mmbtu while HPHT gas price has been revised from $9.9/mmbtu to $12.5/mmbtu. The government-appointed committee under Kirit Parikh has been asked to submit its recommendation on domestic gas pricing by mid-October. Jefferoes said Indraprastha Gas needs to raise CNG price by about Rs 8/kg and <keyword id="222307" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="mahanagar" source="Orion">Mahanagar</keyword> Gas by Rs 9/kg to pass on the impact of the rise in feedstock cost. This would reduce CNG's discount to gasoline/diesel from about 45/3 0 per cent to about 40/20 per cent for Indraprastha and Mahanagar. This could impact volume growth. For <keyword id="6391571" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="gujarat-gas" source="Orion">Gujarat Gas</keyword>, the impact will be relatively small as the priority sector constitutes only about 25 per cent of overall volume, Jefferies said. The rise in APM gas cost roughly offsets the benefit of higher allocation (94 per cent from 85 percent earlier) announced in August for the city gas distributors (CGD). GAIL's feedstock cost for LPG business increases even as LPG prices are falling further hurting profitability. "Continued availability of 94 per cent of CNG requirement from APM pool by diverting volumes from other segments, access to RIL's KG basin gas via the bidding process and pricing strategy will determine volume trajectory. We reckon growing volume via incremental supplies at Spot prices is earnings dilutive," Jefferies said.

Wipro, L&T Infotech, Zee Entertainment, Mindtree among top losers that hit investors’ portfolio in the last one month

New Delhi, Mar 12 () Shares of oil and gas companies declined up to 15 per cent on Thursday with BPCL taking the biggest hit, as oil prices dropped nearly 6 per cent in global markets. Amongst the BSE sectoral indices, BSE Oil and Gas index emerged as the biggest loser by shedding 1,118.43 points or 9.82 per cent to settle at 10,265.63.Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd dived 14.71 per cent to Rs 345.15 on BSE. Hindustan Petroleum Corporation closed at Rs 183.85, plunging 12.83 per cent. Similarly, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd settled at Rs 62.6, declining 12.63 per cent. Among other losers, Gail India Ltd dived 11.62 per cent to Rs 79.9, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd dropped 9.58 per cent to close at Rs 87.75. Besides, Reliance Industries closed at Rs 1,061.6, losing 7.95 per cent. Indraprastha Gas Ltd fell 6.46 per cent to Rs 389.35.Castrol India declined by 5.49 per cent to Rs 128.3 and Gujarat State Petronet Ltd ended the session at Rs 208.95, losing 4.57 per cent over the previous close. Shares of Petronet LNG Ltd lost 2.69 per cent to close at Rs 215.3. Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex plunged over 2,919 points to settle at 32,778.14 as the coronavirus pandemic wreaked havoc on global markets."The fall in global crude prices is bound to impact gross refining margin for most oil refining players. Oil & gas stocks drop up to 15 pc as crude dives; BPCL biggest loser

<keyword id="6358777" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="New-Delhi">New Delhi</keyword>, The Centre's new directive for industrial units in Delhi to switch over to PNG (piped natural gas) owing to the high levels of pollution is a positive development for <keyword id="747943" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="city-gas-distribution">city gas distribution</keyword> (CGD) companies, ICRA said in a note. Accordingly, the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change on December 22, identified about 1,644 industrial units spread across 50 industrial areas in Delhi to switch over to PNG owing to the high levels of pollution. In addition, <keyword id="111875" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Delhi-Pollution-Control-Committee">Delhi Pollution Control Committee</keyword> (DPCC) was also directed to inspect and identify the industries using unapproved fuels and to take stringent penal action in case of non-compliance. Besides DPCC, <keyword id="98830" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indraprastha-Gas">Indraprastha Gas</keyword> and Delhi government were also asked to work in close coordination with the industrial units so as to target the completion of infrastructure work and switch over to PNG by January 31, 2021. As per the ICRA note, this directive to compulsorily switch to PNG in the NCR region is a positive development for CGD companies, both from an immediate as well long-term perspective. The Asian spot prices of LNG had declined below $2 per mmbtu in May 2020, owing to demand destruction due to outbreak of coronavirus amid increasing global supplies. In recent weeks, spot LNG prices have increased to nearly $10-11 per mmbtu due to increase in oil prices, supply issues in Australia and Malaysia, a colder than expected winter and delays in the Panama Canal. Nevertheless, ICRA expected the supply overhang amid demand inflicted by Covid-19 to keep prices muted over the longer term. Mandatory switch to Pipe Natural Gas for Delhi industries credit positive for city gas distribution companies, says ICRA

The <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=odd+even+rule&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Odd-Even Part II</a> is reaping benefits for Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL) as it clocked the highest CNG sale of 26.7 lakh kg a day this week. 
This means more vehicles are gearing to CNG as CNG-fitted vehicles are exempted from the odd-even rule. 
 
The demand is so high that IGL is setting up one CNG dispensing station every two days, creating a world record. 
 
"We had an average compressed natural gas (CNG) sale of 23.5-24 lakh kg per day in 2015-16. On Monday, which was the first full working day of the odd-even restricted plying rule, we saw sale volumes jump to 26.7 lakh," said IGL Managing Director Narendra Kumar. 
 
"This is the highest ever sale we have ever achieved," he said. "In 2015-16 we had a growth of 3-4 per cent in CNG consumption. This year (April 2016 to March 2017), we expect a growth rate of 8-10 per cent." 
 
Previously peak sale volume was 26.4 lakh kg per day.

Delhi has the highest number of CNG stations in the world and no city has ever expanded its network by more than 30 stations in a year. 
 
IGL, the sole supplier of CNG to automobiles and piped cooking gas to households in the national capital region, is the country's largest CNG retailer. 
 
"What is working in favour of CNG is also price cuts following global slump in energy prices. Rates were last cut by Rs 0.60 per kg and to Rs 36.60 per kg in Delhi on April 1," he said.

New Delhi, Apr 3 () The price of CNG used in automobiles and cooking gas piped to household kitchens was on Friday cut by 7 per cent in step with a reduction in input natural gas prices. Indraprastha Gas Ltd, the retailer of CNG and piped natural gas in the national capital and adjoining areas, said CNG price in Delhi will be cut by Rs 3.20 to Rs 42 per kg.In adjoining Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad, the reduction would be Rs 3.60 to Rs 47.75 per kg.IGL, in a statement, also announced cut in its domestic piped natural gas prices by Rs 1.55 per standard cubic meters to Rs 28.55 per scm in Delhi.Piped natural gas in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad would be Rs 28.45 scm, a reduction of Rs 1.65 per scm from Rs 30.10.This is the second reduction in rates in six months. CNG price was on October 2, 2019, cut by Rs 1.90 per kg in Delhi and by Rs 2.15 per kg in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad.On that day piped natural gas rates were cut by Rs 0.90 per scm in Delhi and by Rs 0.40 in neighbouring towns in Uttar Pradesh.The latest reduction follows the government cutting the price paid for natural gas produced from domestic fields by 26 per cent to USD 2.39 per million British thermal unit effective April 1.Natural gas gets converted into CNG on compression and is also supplied for lighting cooking stoves through pipes.IGL said the revised CNG price in Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh would be Rs 56.65 per kg, in Karnal would be Rs 49.85 per kg and in Rewari and Gurugram would be Rs 54.15 per kg.In Rewari, the applicable price of domestic PNG would now be Rs 28.60 per scm, which has been decreased by Rs 1.55 per scm.IGL sells PNG to over 9 lakh households in Delhi and over 4.5 lakh households in Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad and Rewari in Haryana.In order to promote cashless transactions and push CNG refueling during off-peak hours, a special cashback scheme of Re 0.50 per kg is also offered for CNG fueling done only at IGL CNG Stations through IGL Smart Cards between 11 am to 4 pm and 12 am to 6 am, the company said."With the revised price, CNG would offer over 56 per cent savings towards the running cost when compared to petrol-driven vehicles at the current level of prices. When compared to diesel driven vehicles, the economics in favour of CNG at a revised price would be over 32 per cent," it said.IGL, which had rationalised operation of its CNG stations in view of slump in demand following vehicles going off-road due to Covid-19 lockdown, said the rationalised CNG services for public fueling shall continue during the lockdown period primarily to meet the requirements of emergency and essential service vehicles.A total of 276 CNG stations are being run during this period. New Delhi, Feb 6 () Indraprastha Gas Ltd, the firm that supplies CNG to automobiles and piped cooking gas to household kitchens in national capital and adjoining towns, on Thursday reported a 43 per cent jump in its third quarter net profit on rise in gas sales volumes. Standalone net profit in October-December 2019 at Rs 283.59 crore was 43 per cent than net profit of Rs 197.94 crore a year back, the company said in a statement here. Gross turnover rose 10 per cent to Rs 1,831.16 crore. "IGL registered an overall sales volume growth of 13 per cent over the corresponding quarter in the last fiscal, with the average daily sale going up from 5.91 million standard cubic meters per day (mmscmd) to 6.70 mmscmd," it said. CNG recorded sales volume growth of 9 per cent, while piped natural gas recorded sales volume growth of 18 per cent in the quarter as compared to last year. IGL sells compressed natural gas (CNG) to over 11 lakh vehicles running in the national capital region through a network of over 520 CNG stations. It also supplies piped natural gas to over 12 lakh households in these cities. The pipeline network is being further expanded by IGL to cover Ajmer, Pali and Rajsamand in Rajasthan, Shamli, parts of Meerut, Fatehpur, Hamirpur and parts of Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh and Kaithal in Haryana, IGL said. IANS Sources said <keyword id="5219124" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="The-Petroleum-Ministry">the petroleum ministry</keyword> is considering a proposal under which domestic gas will have a floor pricing that would prevent fuel prices from crashing below an identified threshold in the current subdued market conditions and insulate oil and gas explorers like ONGC from a tariff crash. <div type="image" title="ONGC" msid="78362156" hostid="261"></div> CNG and piped natural gas prices could face an increase this festive season if the government implements a new floor price mechanism for gas produced from domestic fields by companies such as Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC). Talks are on to link gas prices with price Japan-Korea Marker, a benchmark index used to determine LNG tariff in North Asia with a discount. With JKM prices hovering over $ 5 million British thermal units (mmBtu) even with day $ 1 mmBtu discount, the Indian gas floor price under this formula will be close to $ 4 mmBtu. This is much higher than the government administered price of $ 2.39 mmBtu for the April-October, 2020 period. And if implemented, it could increase the cost for all gas consumers. "Nothing has been finalised on having a gas floor price as of now. A panel in the petroleum ministry is looking at various options and the best course would be adopted that has little impact on consumers but also supports oil and gas companies with remunerative and sustainable gas prices." The average cost of gas production for the country's largest public sector oil company ONGC is about $3.7/mmBtu, much higher than the current regulated price of natural gas at $2.39/mmBtu. This is expected to fall further to about $1.9/mmBtu for the next six months beginning October 1 under the current formula, sources said. Lower gas prices is bad news for ONGC as it would mean further suppressed margins and losses. The company is set to lose close to Rs 6,000 crore on low gas prices this year, brokerages have said. Brokerages have put ONGC's FY22E gas price at US$3.6-4.2/mmbtu depending on discount to JKM price if the new floor price is implemented. With Low L NG liquefaction capacity addition ahead, JKM spot futures for FY22-FY26E are expected at US$5.2-5.8/mmbtu vs US$4.7-4.1/mmbtu in FY20-FY21E. Oil minister Dharmendra Pradhan had said earlier that India will phase out price controls in natural gas and make it market-linked soon.
