The Eastern Naval Command, in coordination with the Eastern Fleet, Base Victualling Yard (BVY), Material Organisation, and INHS Kalyani, has completed the overnight loading of essential relief supplies onto naval ships set to depart from Visakhapatnam. The supplies include critical items such as HADR gear, drinking water, rations, and medicines. These materials are being sent to Yangon. "This rapid mobilisation comes despite the short notice, showcasing the Navy's ability to swiftly respond to humanitarian crises in the region," the Ministry stated. Earlier on Sunday, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Sunday, informed that, as a part of <keyword id="23180167" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Operation-Sadbhav" source="keywords">Operation Sadbhav</keyword>, the government has dispatched humanitarian aid to Myanmar, Vietnam and Laos. market</h2>Vivo has emerged as the market leader in Q3 2024, with a 15.8% market share, up from a 13.9% market share in Q3 2023. This marks the third consecutive quarter where the smartphone maker has led the Indian smartphone market. Vivo’s shipments have increased by 20% year-on-year. Oppo is second, with a 13.9% market share in Q3 2024, up from a 9.9% market share in Q3 2023. The company’s shipments have increased by 47.6% year-on-year. Samsung, which led the Indian smartphone market in Q3 2023 with a market share of 16.2% has been pushed down to the third spot with a 12.3% market share. The company’s shipments have declined by 19.7% year-on-year. Other notable changes include the increase in Apple’s market share from 5.7% to 8.2%, a decline in OnePlus’ market share from 6.2% to 3.6% and a 149% year-on-year increase in shipments recorded by Motorola. <h2>5G shipments on the rise</h2>The share of 5G shipments increased to 83% in Q3 2024, up from 57% in Q3 2023. Of the 46 million smartphones shipped, 38 million were 5G smartphones. This has been fueled by the decline in the average selling price (ASP) of 5G smartphones. The ASP has by 20% to $292 (approx. ₹24,650). “Cyclical dip in demand after the festive period and high shipments in 3Q24 will result in higher stock levels across channels in 4Q24. Thus, India's smartphone market is expected to exit 2024 with a low single-digit annual growth,” said Navkendar Singh, AVP – Devices Research, IDC. How often have you been asked to invest more money in the markets, every time the market goes southwards, or experiences a correction? How many times have you been advised to "buy the dip", every time Sensex or <keyword id="19896381" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="nifty" source="keywords">Nifty</keyword> nosedives? The rationale you're given is that this way, you'll acquire quality stocks at lower prices, which will eventually appreciate and grow when the market recovers from its short-term, temporary decline. However, a recent report by PGIM India Mutual Fund suggests that this advice might not always yield great benefits. That is, <keyword id="23577643" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="buying-the-dip" source="keywords">buying the dip</keyword> might not always serve as a wise <keyword id="20101352" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="investment-strategy" source="keywords">investment strategy</keyword>. Relying consistently just on this plan of action during every dip do not guarantee positive returns Per the report, between April 1, 2020 and October 4, 2024, the <keyword id="23577644" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="BSE500-index" source="keywords">BSE500 index</keyword> has delivered returns at a CAGR (compounded annual growth rate) of 32%. Out of this, it remained in the green i.e. generated positive returns for 39 months, with an average of 4.3% monthly returns. For the 15 months which saw a drawdown, the average monthly dip did not exceed 2.6%. Surprisingly, over the past 4.5 years, especially post the pandemic, investors seem to have put in 2x the money during the time of such drawdowns, as opposed to the times when the market was up. Between April 1, 2024 and October 4, 2024, the average daily domestic investment made in BSE500 was a staggering Rs 914 crore, when it was down. On the days it was on an uptrend, investors only poured in Rs 443 crore. Notably, domestic investment takes into account from Indian individuals, NRIs and domestic institutional investors (DIIs). <h2>Don't just rely on dips to start investing </h2>Recent data from CapitalMind PMS shows that there is not much difference in terms of returns earned by a regular investor (A) who does not time his/her entry in the market, someone who invests when the markets are at peak (B), and someone who enters the market when it has bottomed out (C). Assume that each A,B and C invested Rs 1 lakh every year between 2000-2004 in the Nifty. In this case, C would end up earning up returns at the rate of 14.1%, or Rs 1.91 crore. As for B, who entered when the markets were at a high, the returns would be Rs 1.24 crore, at the rate of 12%. But the average investor i.e. A would end up with Rs 1.54 crore, earning returns at a healthy 13% rate. The lesson? The best time to start investing in the markets is now. Don't wait for a <keyword id="19968045" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="market-correction" source="keywords">market correction</keyword> to start the same. Moreover, it is best to invest for the long-term i.e. 10 years or more. Data suggests that annualised returns inch closer after they cross the 10 year mark. So, in case you've had massive 20-30% returns in the initial phases of your investing journey, remember that your returns will eventually moderate. Conversely, if you've had a disappointing couple of early years in the markets when it comes to returns, it is bound to see an uptick, eventually. So, stay put!

Approximately 4.5 lakh weddings are projected in the capital city, potentially contributing around ₹1.5 lakh crore to the local economy. The build-up to this wedding season has already shown signs of economic revival, particularly in sectors like gold and jewellery. Suvankar Sen, MD &amp; CEO of Senco Gold, noted a marked increase in wedding-related purchases during the recent Dhanteras festival. Speaking in an interview with CNBC TV-18, Sen highlighted that the August duty cut on gold played a significant role in spurring early buying behaviour. He pointed out that this policy move helped lower the cost of gold, enticing consumers to make significant purchases ahead of the peak wedding months. "We can see at least 40-50% of the consumers who are buying right now are related to weddings, and the 40-50% who are not related to weddings, are divided amongst consumers with a budget of ₹2-3 lakh buying some kind of jewellery as an annual buying during this auspicious time. Some consumers are buying working women's jewellery or lightweight for their daughters, something within ₹50,000 to ₹1 lakh kind of buying happening. ₹20,000-30,000 is a budget consumer at all levels, some kind of a pendant, ring or earring that everyone would like to buy during this auspicious time. According to <keyword id="20974307" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ANAROCK-Research" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="ANAROCK Research" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="ANAROCK Research">ANAROCK Research</keyword>, in several of India’s top cities, rental prices have jumped significantly, even more than <keyword id="21006188" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="property-values" source="keywords">property values</keyword> in some places. For example, in Bengaluru’s Sarjapur Road, average monthly rents shot up by 67% between the end of 2021 and the middle of 2024. If you were paying Rs 21,000 in rent at the end of 2021, that would now be around Rs 35,000 a month! And Bengaluru isn’t the only city where renters are feeling the squeeze. In Pune’s Hinjewadi, rent prices have surged by 52%, while property values went up by just 31%. Similarly, in Kolkata’s EM Bypass, rents rose by 46%, but property prices saw a much smaller bump of 15%. But there are cities where buying makes even more sense because property prices are outpacing rental costs. In Hyderabad’s Gachibowli, for instance, while rent went up by 50%, property values soared by 70%. This trend is also seen in NCR’s Sohna Road, where rents increased by 40%, but property prices grew by 54%. <h2>Is renting really worth it?</h2>Let’s say you’re living in a 2BHK flat in Bengaluru, paying Rs 50,000 a month in rent. It might seem like an okay deal at first, but when you look at the long-term cost, things get tricky. Dr Prashant Thakur, Regional Director &amp; Head of Research at ANAROCK, breaks it down: "One-year payable rent for the individual is Rs 50,000 x 12 = Rs 6,00,000. For the next 10 years, the total rental outgo, including an annual rental increase of 7%, will be around Rs 83 lakh. This rental outgo is almost 69% of the total cost of this property — and this is just an expense with no investment value accrued." <div type="Article" hostid="261" msid="113367496" title="I bought my dream home, but the difficult process and higher cost sometimes make me wish I&amp;#39;d stuck with renting" mstype="2" mssubtype="0"></div>What does that mean? If you keep renting, you’re essentially throwing money out the window without gaining any ownership of the home. While you may have the flexibility that comes with renting, your hard-earned money doesn’t build any long-term value. <h2>Is it time to make the home purchase leap?</h2>So, what if you took the plunge and bought the place instead? Let’s say you’re eyeing a Rs 1.2 crore apartment and can afford to put down a 20% down payment, with the rest coming from a 10-year home loan at 9.5% interest. Dr. Thakur explains, “If the individual opts to buy the property via a home loan, has the financial wherewithal to make a 20% down payment, and borrows the remaining amount over a 10-year tenure at 9.5% interest rate, such a purchase is definitely profitable. Instead of spending a huge amount on rent, the individual can pay monthly EMIs and ultimately own the physical asset after a ten-year period.” With this approach, the monthly EMIs may be slightly higher than what you’re paying in rent, but there’s a key difference — you’re working towards owning your home. After 10 years, the home is yours, and you don’t have to worry about rent going up year after year. <h2>Homeownership isn’t just about the numbers</h2>While the math might lean towards buying, it’s not just about finances. For some people, renting makes more sense, especially if they don’t plan to settle down in one place for a long time. Job mobility, financial stability, and lifestyle choices all factor into this decision. However, something interesting happened during the COVID-19 pandemic. Many people, including millennials who had previously been all about renting, started reconsidering. The pandemic brought a sense of uncertainty, and suddenly, the security of owning a home became much more attractive. Dr. Thakur points out, "Amid a rising aversion to high-risk investments, an increasing number of tenants see rent as an expense, and EMIs as SIPs towards a non-volatile asset." <div type="Article" hostid="261" msid="113395713" title="Welcome to interest-rate cut week: Here&amp;#39;s how the Fed&amp;#39;s next move will impact everything from home prices to new cars loans" mstype="2" mssubtype="0"></div>Plus, home loan interest rates are currently lower, averaging between 8.75% and 9.5%, making homeownership more affordable than it has been in the past few years. Singapore Airlines will make an additional investment of Rs 3,194.5 crore in Tata Group-owned Air India post-merger of Vistara in November. The merger, announced on November 29, 2022, and set to be completed on November 11, 2024, will result in Singapore Airlines having a 25.1% stake in the enlarged Air India. Full-service carrier Vistara, which started flying on January 9, 2015, is a joint venture between Tatas and Singapore Airlines, where the latter holds a 49% shareholding. Vistara's last flight will take off tomorrow i.e. November 11, 2024. Singapore Airlines (SIA) Group on Friday said its consideration for the merger comprises the 49% interest in Vistara and Rs 20,585 million (Rs 2,058.5 crore) in cash in exchange for a 25.1% equity interest in the enlarged Air India. Post-merger, SIA expects to recognize a non-cash accounting gain of around 1.1 billion Singapore dollars and also start equity accounting for its share of Air India's financial results. According to a release on Friday, the merger includes an agreement for SIA to contribute its share of any funding previously provided by Tata prior to the completion of the merger, together with relevant funding costs up to Rs 5,020 crore that would allow it to maintain a 25.1% stake in Air India. "SIA's additional capital injection is expected to be Rs 31,945 million (equivalent to SGD 498 million), based on Tata's funding to Air India to date. This will occur after the completion of the merger and within November 2024 through subscription to new Air India shares. "Future capital injections will be considered based on Air India's requirements and available funding options," according to the release issued while announcing the airline's financial performance for the six months ended September 2024. The merger of Vistara with Air India will mark a major consolidation in the fast-growing Indian aviation space. SIA said the merged entity will have a significant presence across all key Indian air travel segments, including domestic, international, full-service, and low-cost operations. "This will strengthen SIA's multi-hub strategy, allowing it to continue participating directly in India's large and fast-growing aviation market," it added. Recently, Air India and SIA agreed to significantly expand their codeshare agreement, adding 11 Indian cities and another 40 international destinations to their network.
