The currency is weaker by 0.4% at 67.330 per dollar as of 7:33 a.m. ET.Rajan is an extremely respected figure on the global stage, and is <a href="https://next.ft.com/content/303263ae-35dc-11e6-9a05-82a9b15a8ee7">credited with restoring</a> the India's macroeconomic stability - so his departure has some investors feeling a bit unsettled.As for the rest of the world, here's the scoreboard:<ul><li>The Nigerian naira <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/nigerian-naira-crashes-after-government-removes-peg-2016-6">collapsed</a> on Monday after the Central Bank of Nigeria removed the currency peg to the dollar. The naira is down 30.8% at 260.525 against the greenback. The plan to devalue the currency was <a href="http://uk.businessinsider.com/nigeria-devalue-naria-2016-6">announced last week</a> - and although this should help Nigeria's economy in the long run, things could get ugly in the near-term.</li><li>The British pound is stronger by 1.9% at 1.4626 against the dollar after several weekend polls suggested that the campaign to leave the EU could be losing momentum. A poll for the Mail on Sunday by Survation gave the <a href="http://uk.businessinsider.com/r-uks-in-camp-takes-3-point-lead-after-lawmaker-killed-poll-2016-6">In campaign 45% against 42% for Out</a>; a poll for the Sunday Times by YouGov had Remain at <a href="http://www.thetimes.co.uk/past-six-days/2016-06-19/news/no-turning-back-warns-cameron-pptvdnvxj">44% to Leave's 43%</a>; and an <a href="http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/jun/18/eu-referendum-britain-voting-campaign-jo-cox">Opinium poll for the Observer put the two sides both at 44%.</a></li><li>The Japanese yen is down by 0.4% at 104.56 after the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com.au/japanese-exports-tumbled-in-may-particularly-to-china-2016-6?_ga=1.94835423.2138067290.1456773988">latest trade data released</a> by the Ministry of Finance showed the value of exports fell 11.3% year-over-year in May as the stronger yen made goods less attractive. The Indian rupee is tumbling

One of the biggest stories in global markets is the weakness in emerging market currencies.
A factor driving their weakness is believed to be the Federal Reserve, and the likely fact that it will before too long embark on a path to unwind its ultra-aggressive policies, which has served to strengthen the US dollar, while sucking money out of <keyword id="6359891" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="emerging-markets">emerging markets</keyword>.
Equity markets have been quiet, but on the <keyword id="6378917" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="Currency">currency</keyword> front we're seeing weakness again.

There Goes The Indian Rupee Again

The <keyword id="6355302" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="rupee" source="Orion">rupee</keyword> has depreciated 30 paise against the US dollar on Thursday as sentiments of investors dampened due to weak macroeconomic data and tensions between US-China. At the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee opened at 79.21 and then fell to 79.46 against the US dollar. The rupee ended at 79.16 against the dollar on Wednesday. Market participants said that most traders remained cautious ahead of the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) monetary policy due on Friday. "Rupee dragged lower below 79.75 as volatility increased in the market on the back of geopolitical issues which may arise between US-China conflict over Taiwan. More of a panic sentiment rally was witnessed across currencies especially Chinese neighbouring countries due to geographical locations," said Jateen Trivedi, VP Research Analyst at LKP Securities. India's exports dipped marginally for the first time in June and the trade deficit has recorded tripled to $31 billion on 70 per cent rise in crude oil prices. By the end of Indian market hours, Brent crude oil prices were trading at $97.15 a barrel. On the domestic equity front, Sensex fell just over 50 points or 0.09 per cent to 58,298.80, and Nifty fell mere 6.15 points or 0.04 per cent to 17,382.00. "The new broad range for USD INR has now turned to 78.20-80.20 levels and may consolidate within these levels for sometime now," said Kunal Sodhani, Vice President, Global Trading Centre, Shinhan Bank. Indian rupee falls 30 paise to close at 79.46 against US dollar

The <keyword id="6355302" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Rupee" source="Orion">rupee</keyword> slid to the psychologically low level of 80 in intra day trade before settling down by 15 paise at 79.97 (provisional) against the US currency on Monday due to a surge in crude oil prices and unrelenting foreign fund outflows. At the interbank forex market, the local unit opened at 79.76 against the greenback but later lost ground to touch the psychological low mark of 80.00 against the American currency. The local unit recovered some lost ground and closed at 79.97 (provisional), registering a fall of 15 paise over its previous close. The rupee on Friday rebounded from the near-80 levels to close higher by 17 paise at 79.82 against the US currency. "<keyword id="91748" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="indian-rupee" source="Orion">Indian rupee</keyword>, opened in the green on strength in domestic equity markets and a weak US Dollar. However, rupee weakened in the latter half of the day on surge in crude oil prices and selling pressure by FIIs. FII outflows rose to Rs 1,649 crores on Friday," said Anuj Choudhary - Research Analyst at Sharekhan by BNP Paribas. Choudhary further said that the rupee is likely to trade with a positive bias of rise in risk appetite in global markets and weakness in US Dollar. Improved global risk sentiments may also support the rupee. "However, pullback in crude oil prices and continued selling pressure by FIIs my cap sharp gains in the rupee. USDINR spot price is expected to trade in a range of Rs 79.20 to Rs 80.80 in next couple of sessions," Choudhary said. The dollar index, which gauges the greenback's strength against a basket of six currencies, was trading 0.50 per cent down at 107.52. Brent crude futures, the global oil benchmark, jumped 2.06 per cent to USD 103.24 per barrel. On the domestic equity market front, the <keyword id="35140" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="bse" source="Orion">BSE</keyword> Sensex ended 760.37 points or 1.41 per cent higher at 54,521.15, while the broader NSE Nifty climbed 229.30 points or 1.43 per cent to 16,278.50. Foreign institutional investors remained net sellers in the capital market on Friday, offloading shares worth Rs 1,649.36 crore, as per exchange data. Rupee settles at 79.97 against US dollar; briefly touches 80/USD mark

The <keyword id="19949639" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="rupee" source="keywords">rupee</keyword> declined 7 paise to close at 83.35 (provisional) against the US <keyword id="19904292" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="dollar" source="keywords">dollar</keyword> on Friday as a strengthening American <keyword id="20256153" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="currency" source="keywords">currency</keyword> overseas and a selloff in domestic equities weighed on the local unit. Besides, rising crude prices in the international <keyword id="19913381" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="market" source="keywords">market</keyword> and risk-averse sentiment dragged the local unit down, forex traders said. At the interbank foreign exchange market, the local unit opened strong at 83.30 and moved in the range of 83.30-83.36 during the session. The local currency finally settled at 83.35 (provisional) against the dollar, registering a fall of 7 paise from its previous close. In the previous session, the rupee closed at 83.28 against the US dollar. "<keyword id="20045514" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="indian-rupee" source="keywords">Indian Rupee</keyword> declined slightly on weak domestic markets and a surge in crude oil prices. We expect the rupee to trade slightly weak on renewed geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and weakness in domestic equities. "Rising crude oil prices and FII outflows may further put pressure on the rupee. However, any intervention by the RBI may support the rupee at lower levels. We expect USDINR to trade in the range of 83.10-83.60," Anuj Choudhary, Research Analyst, Sharekhan by BNP Paribas, said. Brent crude futures, the global oil benchmark, rose 0.38 per cent to USD 89.35 per barrel. The dollar index, which gauges the greenback's strength against a basket of six currencies, increased 0.05 per cent to 105.49. On the domestic equity market front, Sensex slumped 609.28 points, or 0.82 per cent, to settle at 73,730.16, and Nifty declined 150.40 points, or 0.67 per cent, to close at 22,419.95. Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were net sellers in the capital markets on Thursday as they offloaded shares worth Rs 2,823.33 crore, according to exchange data. Rupee falls 7 paise to settle at 83.35 against US dollar

Oil prices have been on a steady decline since October owing to excess production by a number of countries like Saudi Arabia, the US and Russia and continued exports from Iran. A <a href="https://www.eia.gov/petroleum/drilling/pdf/dpr-full.pdf">report</a> released by the US’s Energy Information Administration, a government agency, indicated a significant jump in shale-oil production, which will likely counterbalance efforts by <keyword id="47969" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Opec">OPEC</keyword> countries to <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2018/12/07/opec-meeting-saudi-arabia-and-russia-look-to-impose-production-cuts.html">roll back production of crude oil </a>starting next year. Despite a strong run by the Indian rupee of late, not everyone is bullish about the currency’s prospects. Earlier this month, Fitch, a ratings agency, predicted that the rupee would depreciate to <a href="https://in.reuters.com/article/india-economy-fitch/fitch-sees-indian-rupee-weakening-to-75-against-dollar-by-end-2019-idINKBN1O50FL">75</a> against the US dollar by the end of 2019. The <keyword id="91748" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-rupee">Indian rupee</keyword> fell 30 paise to 67.95 against dollar, trading over 28-month low. 
 
The Indian rupee saw the downtrend due to strong demand for the American unit from importers and banks amid a lower opening in the domestic equity market. 
 
Also, sustained capital outflows weighed on the domestic unit. 
 
The rupee had closed three paise higher at 67.65 against the US currency in yesterday's trade on fresh selling of dollars by banks and exporters amidst a recovery in equities. 
 Meanwhile, the benchmark <keyword id="53232" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="BSE-sensex">BSE Sensex</keyword> plunged 412.95 points, or 1.69 per cent to 24,066.89 in early trade.
