New Delhi: The upcoming Initial Public Offering (IPO) of <keyword id="20214518" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hyundai-Motors-India" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Hyundai Motors India" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="Hyundai Motors India">Hyundai Motors India</keyword> has sparked significant interest in the Indian markets, but a recent report by <keyword id="20303939" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Aequitas-Investments" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Aequitas Investments" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="Aequitas Investments">Aequitas Investments</keyword> suggests it may not be as promising for <keyword id="19953411" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-investors" source="keywords">Indian investors</keyword> as anticipated. The report highlighted several concerns, pointing to broader industry challenges and the valuation mismatch as reasons for caution. It said "Given the headwinds that the Global <keyword id="20081560" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="automobile-industry" source="keywords">Automobile Industry</keyword> is facing coupled with signs of a slowdown in India, the upcoming IPO might not be a great deal for Indian Investors" Hyundai Motor Company, the parent firm based in South Korea, is set to offload shares worth Rs 25,000 crore through an Offer for Sale (OFS) in the Indian market. However, the report suggested that the current global headwinds facing the automobile industry, combined with signs of a slowdown in India, may make this IPO less attractive for Indian investors. One of the key issues flagged in the report is the valuation of Hyundai Motors India. The report noted that despite contributing only 6.5 per cent of Hyundai's global revenue and 8 per cent of its overall profitability, the Indian unit is expected to be valued at approximately 42 per cent of the parent company's market capitalization upon listing. This valuation discrepancy raises concerns about whether the IPO price is justified given the Indian unit's relatively modest contribution to Hyundai's global business. "Despite contributing only 6.5 per cent of the global revenues and 8 per cent of the profitability, Hyundai's India unit will be valued at approx. 42 per cent of the Parent Co.'s MCap on listing" the report added. From Hyundai's perspective, the move makes sense. In South Korea, Hyundai's stock currently trades at a price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of just 5x, making the sale in India potentially more lucrative. The report argues that Hyundai is looking to take advantage of the relatively higher valuations in India. It said "From Hyundai's perspective it's a no-brainer as their stock in S.Korea trades at a measly 5x P/E" Hyundai Motor Group, which includes both Hyundai and Kia, is the third-largest automaker globally, having sold 7.3 million vehicles in 2023. While Hyundai Motors India does not have a stake in Kia Motors India, the parent company owns a controlling 34 per cent stake in Kia Motors globally and fully owns Genesis Motors, a luxury brand in South Korea.

Hyundai IPO might not be a great deal for Indian investors: Report

Indians are the third biggest international investor community with $8 billion investment in the US realty market after Canadians and Chinese, brokerage firm Sotheby's International Realty said today. 
 Besides, 25 per cent of the international <keyword id="6354553" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="real-estate">real estate</keyword> market in London also belongs to Indians with <keyword id="6362476" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="investments">investments</keyword> around 1 billion pounds while they also invested more than $2 billion in the Dubai real estate market in the first half of 2015 only. 
 
I think and I believe Indians that live in the US are one of the largest group of millionaires in the America... they are already there and therefore they are investing in real estate," US-based Sotheby's International Realty President and CEO Philip A White told PTI. 
 
Sotheby's International Realty in August 2014 had signed an agreement with Indian firm RealPro Infra Pvt Ltd and established its Indian arm under the name North India Sotheby's International Realty, which caters to the luxury real estate demands of resident and global Indians. 
 
Sharing the details of Indians investment in the US, North India Sotheby's International Realty Founder and President Ashwin Chadha said: "After Canadians and Chinese, Indians are third largest international community in US in terms of real estate investment and had invested around $8 billion last year." 
 Talking about the <keyword id="47445" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Indian-market">Indian market</keyword> for the global brokerage firm, White said they are optimistic about Indian luxury real estate market and have huge expectations. 
 
India as a country has huge potential to be the top nation in terms of business for us. It may take few years to get there, he added. 
 
"Indians searching property globally, I think we all know Indians put big premium on real estate as a tangible asset to protect from inflation or number of things so I think they keep on looking at the opportunities," White added. 
 
Further elaborating about the brokerage firm's domestic operations so far, North India Sotheby's International Realty Founder and CEO Amit Goyal said they have already tied up with some established players in the sector including Tata Housing, Sobha and Max Group's Antara Housing. 
 
According to US-based National Association of Realtors data Indians had spent $5.8 billion in fiscal 2014 to purchase real estate in that country. China topped the list of foreign nationals with $22 billion in in realty for the one year period ended March 2014.

Indians poured in a cool AED 20 billion (₹370 billion) buying properties across the emirate. The figure showed a 10 percent growth over the previous year’s investment, depicting a continued interest of Indians in the sector despite talks of slowdown. 
 
But the interest is not surprising, as apartments in Dubai are offering rental returns of up to 8 percent in certain localities, according to UAE property portal <a href="https://www.bayut.com/">Bayut.com</a>. The website said its study had found rents for studio apartments in Dubai yielding 7 percent on an average in December 2015. 
 
These rental yields are far higher than those earned by prime <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=property">properties</a> around the world. For example, rental yields in London are at best 4 percent for properties that cost millions more than similar estates in Dubai. So the leaning towards investment in Dubai becomes rather obvious. And apart from the financial advantages, investment in the real estate sector of Dubai is a pretty straight forward and hassle-free process, making it all the more attractive. 
 
Considering the lucrative rental yields apartments in Dubai offer, it comes as no surprise that most <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=indian+investors">Indian investors</a> want a piece of the segment’s action. Bayut.com further revealed that more than half (60%) of all leads generated by Indians in 2015 were dedicated to properties up for sale. Within the leads for on-sale properties, a massive 82 percent related to apartments. On the other hand, villas up for sale managed to generate only 8 percent leads from prospective Indian investors, showing a clear preference for apartments. 
 
The website said the most favourite apartment buying localities for Indian investors were Dubai Marina, Downtown Dubai, Jumeirah Lake Towers (JLT), Business Bay and International City, in that order. The results depict the diversity of Indian investors, as the localities highlighted by the website include the most expensive (Downtown) as well as one of the least expensive areas (International City) for buying apartments in the city. 
 
To conclude, Dubai’s rising status as a global financial, investment and tourism hub are creating opportunities for professionals, businesses and investors alike. The city is fast reinforcing its place as the ideal bridge between the west and east and has capabilities and infrastructure to match its claims. This Indian startup turned its
customers into investors

<keyword id="6355975" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Axis-Bank">Axis Bank</keyword> and <keyword id="6653" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="ICICI-bank">ICICI Bank</keyword> share a similar profile in terms of corporate exposure and funding roads, power companies, etc, still there could be a divide emerging between the two. 
 
The stock performance of the two banks clearly point out the divide as the latest quarter financial performance indicate investors believe that Axis Bank is better place than ICICI. 
 The past year saw Axis outperform ICICI by a huge margin. Axis rose 68.71% in the past year when compared with ICICI, which gained 12.23%. The broader BSE <keyword id="54657" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Bankex">Bankex</keyword> rose 21%. 
 
ICICI Bank's March quarter earnings rose 10.2% to Rs 2,922 crore, while Axis reported an 18.36% advance to Rs 2,180.6 crore. 
"Axis' earnings growth for the past few quarters has been at 18% while that of ICICI Bank has been at around 10%. Its growth is almost double, which is driving investors to the stock," Vaibhav Agrawal, Vice President research - banking at Angel Broking told Economic Times, adding "Axis Bank's asset quality has been steady while ICICI Bank has seen a rise in its net nonperforming loans. This has also been a positive for Axis Bank." 
 
Meanwhile, Anish Tawakley, analyst with Barclays, said for ICICI Bank, the slippages from the restructuring book are very high as loan exposures come out of the moratorium. 
 
"In large corporates, there can be some lumpy accounts. Even if the economy picks up, they can see stress as they are highly leveraged,” he told ET. 
Even though Axis and ICICI apparently emerged from their past issues - partly created by the economic slowdown that saw bad loans of the industry's largest bank rise to 1.40% of total assets - investors seem to choose former over latter. 
 
"As far as the impact of NPA additions is concerned, as the bank has previously explained, the higher slippages to NPA have come mainly from the existing restructured portfolio; hence the impact on NII and margins is not significant," an ICICI Bank spokesman told the financial daily. 
 Both ICICI and Axis are run by chips of the same block - <keyword id="45875" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Chanda-Kochhar">Chanda Kochhar</keyword> and <keyword id="6356453" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Shikha-Sharma">Shikha Sharma</keyword> - who rose up the ranks at ICICI under KV Kamath. 
 
The newspaper reported that Sharma, who spent almost three decades at the ICICI Bank Group before moving to head Axis Bank in 2009, showed some aggressive management style by buying Enam Securities for Rs 2,070 crore, while Kochhar spent steadying the ship by pulling back funds from overseas businesses. 
 
"Asset quality continues to be challenging due to the tough operating environment and the economic recovery being slower and volatile," Kochhar said during the post-earnings call. In the past few years, she said. 
 
Kochchar added that restructuring was done keeping in mind assumptions of a possible turnaround in the economy. "But the pick-up in economic activity has been gradual and volatile affecting these companies. Asset quality in 2016 will be better than last year," said Kochhar. 
 
"The asset quality environment continues to be challenging with economic activity being weak," V Srinivasan, executive director at Axis Bank, told ET, adding, “We will have to monitor our exposure."

Indian investors are cozying up to Axis bank. Know why

Fake cryptocurrency exchanges have duped Indian investors of more than $128 million (nearly Rs 1,000 crore) as the global crypto market tanks, a new report claimed on Tuesday. Cyber-security company CloudSEK said it has uncovered an ongoing operation involving several phishing domains and Android-based fake crypto applications. "This large-scale campaign entices unwary individuals into a huge gambling scam. Many of these bogus websites impersonate "CoinEgg", a legitimate UK-based cryptocurrency trading platform," according to the report. CloudSEK was approached by a victim who allegedly lost Rs 50 lakh ($64,000) to such a cryptocurrency scam, in addition to other costs such as deposit amount, tax, etc. "We estimate that threat actors have defrauded victims of up to $128 million (about Rs 1,000 crore) via such crypto scams," said Rahul Sasi, Founder and CEO of CloudSEK. As investors shift their focus on the cryptocurrency markets, scammers and cheats turn their attention to them as well,' Sasi added. Threat actors first create fake domains that impersonate legitimate crypto trading platforms. The sites are designed to replicate the official website's dashboard and user experience. The attackers then create a female profile on social media to approach the potential victim and establish a friendship. The profile influences the victim to invest in cryptocurrency and start trading. "The profile also shares $100-dollar credit, as a gift to a particular crypto exchange, which in this case is a duplicate of a legitimate crypto exchange," the report mentioned. The victim initially makes a significant profit, which bolsters their trust in the platform and the threat actor. After the victim seemingly makes a profit, the scammer convinces them to invest a higher amount, promising better returns. Once the victim adds their own money to the fake exchange, the threat actor freezes their account, ensuring the victim can't withdraw their investment, and disappears with the victim's money. When victims take to various platforms to complain about losing access to their accounts, the same, or new, threat actors reach out to them in the guise of investigators. "To retrieve the frozen assets, they request victims to provide confidential information such as ID cards and bank details, via email. These details are then used to perpetrate other nefarious activities," the report warned. In the long-term, it is imperative for the collaboration between crypto exchanges, Internet service providers (ISPs), and cyber crime cells to raise awareness and take action against threat groups," said Sasi.
