New Delhi [India], August 4 (ANI): India's <keyword id="21307504" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="outbound-tourism" source="keywords">outbound tourism</keyword> market is expected to reach USD 18817.72 million (USD 18.81 billion) in 2024 and grow at a <keyword id="20256055" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="CAGR" source="keywords">CAGR</keyword> of 11.4 per cent in the decade between 2024 and 2034 to reach approximately USD 55388.41 million (USD 55.38 billion), highlighted a FICCI-Nangia knowledge paper. The paper titled '<keyword id="22661864" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Navigating-Horizons" source="Orion">Navigating Horizons</keyword>: <keyword id="22661865" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="The-Rise-and-Future-of-Indian-Outbound-Tourism" source="Orion">The Rise and Future of Indian Outbound Tourism</keyword>', released during the '3rd Outbound Tourism Summit' here in the FICCI office earlier this week, asserted that few emerging markets and opportunities for outbound <keyword id="19916662" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="travel" source="keywords">travel</keyword> include various Southeast Asian, Middle Eastern, African and Eastern European countries. India's online travel market, which consists of sales of travel services through online channels, is expected to grow at a CAGR of 10.5 per cent between 2024-29, from USD 17.24 billion to USD 28.40 billion. International travel has thus been eased by the steady growth in affordable technology, states the paper. It further states that the government administration and the tourism industry stakeholders in India may undertake various strategic interventions to promote the outbound tourism market. These include bilateral engagement; improved connectivity; support to travel industry stakeholders; marketing of international destinations; curated packages; and hospitality partnerships, among others. Speaking at the launch of the report, Mary M Mutuku, Deputy High Commissioner of Kenya to India said that Kenya is not only committed to deepen the relations between India and Kenya but also promoting Kenya as a preferred tourist destination. "Currently, the India market is among the top 5 Kenya's key sources of tourists, and this has the potential to grow even further," she said in her brief address. To attract more <keyword id="110519" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-tourists" source="Orion">Indian tourists</keyword> to Kenya, Mutuku stated that Kenya has put in place the necessary infrastructure to ease travel in the country. "With an increase in the number of flights between the two countries along with the opening of the Nairobi Expressway, tourists will have more convenience traveling in Kenya. A new cruise terminal at Mombasa port is a major boost to cruise tourism. The berth targets to enhance passenger handling capacity as well as allow for an increased volume of cruise ships arrival at the port," she added. Seitenov Darkhan, Deputy Ambassador, Embassy of Kazakhstan to India had said, "We have huge potential for mutual and beneficial cooperation in the tourism sector. There has been significant growth in the number of tourists coming to Kazakhstan from India which is also due to offering 14 days visa-free regime for Indian tourists along with an increase in a number of direct flights." While highlighting the investment potential for Indian industry, Darkhan further said that in order to meet the needs of Indian tourists in Kazakhstan, it would be advisable to consider building a network of Indian hotels and restaurants in the major cities in Kazakhstan. "We invite major Indian investors to participate in implementing these initiatives in our country," he added. Geshan Dissanayake, Minister Commercial, High Commission of Sri Lanka in India said, "The strong shared heritage between India and Lanka forms the bedrock of our bilateral relationship. India alone stands out as a key source market for Sri Lanka. The integration of the Indian UPI payment system with 'LankaPay' has made simplified payment options for Indian tourists visiting Sri Lanka," he added. Dissanayake further stated that to fully realize the potential of outbound tourism there is a need to focus on marketing and promotion of various offerings by Sri Lanka; infrastructure development; promoting sustainable tourism and further streamlining the visa process. Working together, we can unlock the potential of outbound tourism between India and Sri Lanka," he added. Jyotsna Suri, Past President, of FICCI and CMD, The Lalit Suri Hospitality Group stated that any country has to have healthy inbound and outbound tourism. "<keyword id="644076" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-tourism" source="Orion">Indian tourism</keyword> has witnessed a major growth in the last few years and while we are at the threshold of massive growth, we must be cognizant of sustainability as well," she added. Ankush Nijhawan, Chairman, of FICCI Outbound Tourism Committee and Co-Founder, TBO.com and MD, of Nijhawan Group said that the global travel and tourism industry is expected to reach USD 2.6 trillion by 2027, growing at a CAGR of 8.2 per cent. "Traveler preferences are becoming increasingly diverse, and demand tailor-made travel services. Demographic boost, government support, increased connectivity, and niche segment growth are powering India's outbound travel boom," he added. Representatives from the Embassy of Madagascar to India, the Embassy of Georgia to India, the Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board, Singapore Tourism Board also shared their perspectives during the session.

Indian outbound tourism to reach USD 18817.72 million, grow at over 11% CAGR through 2034: FICCI-Nangia report

Prime Minister <keyword id="19895781" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="narendra-modi" source="keywords">Narendra Modi</keyword> on Tuesday asked the automotive industry to bring global best practices to <keyword id="19895063" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="india" source="keywords">India</keyword>, while also working on green and <keyword id="7340072" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="clean-mobility" source="Orion">clean mobility</keyword>. In a written address to the annual convention of the <keyword id="20163832" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="society-of-indian-automobile" source="keywords">Society of Indian Automobile</keyword> Manufacturers (SIAM), Modi said the automotive industry will drive even higher economic growth and in turn, thrive on demand growth. "As we shift gears towards our collective goal of a Viksit Bharat by 2047, I am confident that organisations like SIAM will continue to bring together all stakeholders and become a force multiplier in this mission," he said. The prime minister said the road ahead demands that the country's progress is rapid, while also being sustainable. "Working (on) greener and cleaner mobility is a vital step in this direction. It is important that this climate-conscious and sustainable vision resonates with domestic and international partners," he asserted. "Further, at this critical juncture for India and the world, it is essential that our automobile sector set not only an example for others to follow, but also work towards bringing global best practices to India. I am confident that the discussions and deliberations during the Annual Convention will serve as a catalyst for this," he added. He further said, "Through innovation and enterprise, I am sure that the automotive industry will drive even higher economic growth and in turn, thrive on the demand growth that inevitably creates." He said over the last decade, India's automotive sector has witnessed tremendous and unprecedented growth. "This is as much a testament to our nation's expanding economic growth, as it is to the pivotal role played by the automotive industry," Modi said. The success story of Indian mobility is noteworthy. The nation is witnessing the creation of future-ready infrastructure, such as state-of-the-art expressways, high-speed railways and other forms of multi-modal connectivity that reaches every corner, the prime minister noted. "The holistic approach is ensuring that the benefits of growth are not just confined to a few, but shared by all," Modi said.

PM Modi asks automakers to bring global best practices to India, focus on clean mobility

<ul><li>Companies won’t be allowed e-way bills if they fail to file their GST returns for 6 months. </li><li>The e-way bill is required for businesses transporting goods worth in excess of ₹50,000 across state borders. </li><li>The move is aimed at plugging a shortfall in GST receipts. </li></ul>The Indian government is planning to prohibit companies from generating e-way bills for the transport of goods in the event that they fail to file their GST returns for six months in succession, or two consecutive filing cycles, officials told the news agency, Press Trust of India (PTI). The e-way bill, or electronic way bill, came into force in April 2018. It is required for businesses that are transporting goods between states with a value in excess of ₹50,000. The e-way bill system will also be implemented into the National Highway Authority’s <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/economy/policy/e-way-bill-to-be-integrated-with-nhais-fastag-to-track-gst-evasion-from-april/articleshow/67541384.cms">Fast Tag </a>programme, an electronic toll system, in order to prevent trucks from making multiple trips on the same bill. The Goods and Services Tax authorities are currently in the process of developing the IT infrastructure to enable the revocation of e-way bill privileges. A formal notification is reportedly expected soon. The move is aimed at preventing businesses from evading taxes. Since the GST was implemented in April 2017, there have reportedly been over 3,600 instances of tax evasion and a violation of compliance norms. The policy will likely help plug the leakages as the government tries to bridge a shortfall in GST receipts. At ₹968 billion, the monthly average collections between April and December 2018 have consistently come in below the government’s target of <a href="https://www.thehindu.com/opinion/editorial/gst-shortfall/article25892792.ece">₹1.06 trillion</a> owing to both evasion and reductions in tax rates on various products. A similar attempt to penalise alleged tax evaders by the then government in Madhya Pradesh (MP), led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), led to severe unrest from the state’s business community. A lobby representing nearly a million truck operators, the All India Motor Transport Congress, called for a <a href="https://www.financialexpress.com/economy/whopping-rs-1-3-crore-fine-for-e-way-bill-error-triggers-transport-strike-just-a-day-before-gst-council-meet/1249415/">nationwide strike</a> in July 2018 against the MP government’s hefty penalty of ₹1.35 lakh crores ($19.2 billion) for lapses in e-way bills. Less than six months later, the incumbent state government under Shivraj Singh Chauhan lost the elections to rival Indian National Congress (INC). The Narendra Modi government may want to avoid the risk of losing further ground among its core voter base, the trading community, in an election year. Therefore, there is a chance that the policy to penalise non-compliance with e-way bills may be enforced after general elections. The issue with e-way bill is at times more than an intent to evade taxes. “Currently, in many companies, there is a confusion as to whether these compliances should be undertaken by the supply chain team or the finance/ tax teams and in the process, chances of error is high. Given these developments, treating the e-way bills as merely a ‘procedural’ requirement would be fraught with risk,” Pratik Jain, Indirect Tax Partner at PwC, told the Financial Express in July 2018. The government is trying to<a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/author_articles_all.cms?query=%22Dilsher%20Dhillon%22&amp;author=Dilsher%20Dhillon"> secure the votes of small business owners</a> with rate cuts and less stringent filing norms. Earlier this year, the GST Council decided to double the minimum revenue threshold for compliance with the tax to ₹4 million for producers of goods. At the end of 2018, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley also said the government was mulling the possibility <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/indias-finance-minister-moots-the-possibility-of-a-single-tax-rate-on-standard-items-amid-continued-criticism-of-the-governments-gst-regime/articleshow/67253716.cms">of merging two tax rates on standard items</a>, which are 12% and 18%, into a single rate of 15% to make the filing of returns easier. For this, bridges, tunnels and flyover constructions will also be necessary and will be done in accordance with the ground situation and the feasibility report drawn up by Spanish consultants Ineco. “Spanish consultant <a href="https://www.ineco.com/webineco/">Ineco</a> has conducted a feasibility study on constructing a high-speed rail line along the proposed Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway and the reports are positive,” a senior <keyword id="54441" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Railway-ministry">Railway Ministry</keyword> official told <a href="http://www.ians.in/">IANS.</a> The Mumbai-Nagpur expressway is a part of the diamond quadrilateral, and this rail project will reduce the travel time for both on road and train travellers since the elevated rail tracks and fully <a href="https://www.financialexpress.com/infrastructure/railways/bullet-train-to-come-up-along-new-mumbai-nagpur-expressway-first-of-its-kind-project-likely/1191774/">access-controlled expressway</a> will ensure an uninterrupted high-speed journey.

India’s first-of-its-kind Bullet train project might be a reality soon

New Delhi, Feb 13 () Union minister Nitin Gadkari on Thursday urged industry players to join hands with the government for the proposed electric lane on Rs 1.03 lakh crore Delhi-Mumbai Expressway while promising to provide policy support to serious players. He said while a stretch of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is planned as electric lane, the Delhi-Jaipur part of the 1,320 km expressway will be completed before Diwali. "Indian investors should come forward for investing in electric lane stretch of the Delhi-Mumbai expressway to be built at a cost of Rs 1.03 lakh crore within three years," the Road Transport and Highways Minister said while addressing a conference on 'Developing a Roadmap for Low Carbon &amp; Sustainable Mobility in India' by FICCI here. The minister said the government is ready to provide policy support to serious investors and also appealed them to come forward in the field of alternative fuel including bio-CNG and electric vehicle. The could cut on India's huge Rs 7 lakh crore crude imports, he said. Stressing on modern transport infrastructure, he said he will also take up the issue of electric highways during his ensuing visit to Sweden this month. The minister also said that electric vehicles have become popular among Indian companies and start-ups, and days were not far-off when India will be a key player in export of electric vehicles. He also said that water transport was one of the viable mobility solutions and added that metros could be successful in tier 2 and 3 cities. Besides Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, work has been initiated on six other express highways out of proposed 22 projects, he said. The entire Delhi Mumbai Express Highway will be completed in the next three years, the minister said, adding that land acquisition for the project has been completed and resulted in savings to the tune of Rs 16,000 crore on it being on a new alignment. "We have saved about Rs 16,000 crore on land acquisition front alone as land could be acquired at a cost of Rs 80 lakh per hectare for the project," he said, adding that the expressway will unlock new economic opportunities in hinterland districts of Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. And just like a movie, the reality can be multilayered – varying from bad roads to gasping traffic and minimal road safety. Development work is being done in three phases and is scheduled to be completed by 2022. During the Interim Budget, <keyword id="6355261" type="POSITION" weightage="60" keywordseo="Finance-minister">Finance Minister</keyword> <keyword id="43940" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="P-Chidambaram">P Chidambaram</keyword> also told the Parliament the road network in the country witnessed over sevenfold increase at 3.89 lakh km over the past decade. 
 Does that mean we may soon see an <keyword id="2074709" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="E-way-ecosystem">e-way ecosystem</keyword> similar to the interstate system in the US? Infrastructure development in India has undergone a sea change over the past few years and the country currently boasts the <keyword id="2034191" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Second-largest-road-network">second largest road network</keyword> in the world, with a road length of over 4,689,842 km, as per 2013 data from the <keyword id="6404450" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Ministry-of-Road-Transport-and-Highways">Ministry of Road Transport and Highways</keyword>. 
 Starting from FY2012-13, the <keyword id="44734" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Indian-Government">Indian government</keyword> will be also putting $17 billion over the next five years, being sourced through public-private partnership (<keyword id="6361580" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="PPP">PPP</keyword>) road projects. This will be used by the <keyword id="87432" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="National-Highways-Authority-of-India">National Highways Authority of India</keyword> (<keyword id="49448" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="nhai">NHAI</keyword>) for the planned series of <keyword id="174913" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="BOT">BOT</keyword> (build, operate and transfer) highways. In spite of several bottlenecks, the NHAI has set up impressive targets and aims to develop 20 km/day, in a bid to fast-track the country’s <keyword id="2034194" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Road-network-expansion">road network expansion</keyword>. 
 As of July 2013, <keyword id="6373156" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="National-Highways">national highways</keyword> account for 79,116 km, connecting all major cities and state capitals. Expressways, however, differ a bit in the sense they are controlled-access highways like the <keyword id="610047" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="freeways">freeways</keyword> or <keyword id="1333990" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="motorways">motorways</keyword> or autobahnen in the US and Europe, essentially designed for high-speed traffic. As of now, most of the expressways in India are 6-8 lane <keyword id="120837" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="toll-roads">toll roads</keyword> and cover a total distance of nearly 1,208.19 km. India expects to add another 3,530 km of expressways by 2014 as projects under construction get completed. Another massive programme is also under way to expand the network and the Indian government plans to add an additional 18,637 km of expressways by 2022.

The expressway has now been given greenlight by National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) to build six lane road from Western Peripheral Expressway (WPE) and is <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/delhi/mumbai-e-way-to-come-into-delhi-manesar-to-get-closer/articleshow/67249427.cms">planned to extend</a> up to ring road near DND flyway. Originally, the expressway is planned to be 1,250 km long, which is aimed to provide a smooth route to commuters that can run vehicles at a speed of 120 km per hour, will be a <a href="https://www.mumbailive.com/en/transport/delhi-mumbai-express-work-on-fast-track-land-acquisition-on-progress-30856">signal-free </a>one. The expressway is expected to be an alternative fast-track route to Manesar in Haryana from from east and South Delhi, easing local traffic congestion. It will <a href="http://v">trim the road-distance</a> to Mumbai to 12 hours, which currently takes 24-48 hours. The six-lane road stretching over 59 kms has been planned to diverge into four sections including the first patch of 7.3 km from DND flyway over river Yamuna. The expressway is expected to bring a huge relief to commuters from residents of National Capital Region. The project will have 13 flyovers, two rail-bridges and nearly 10 minor bridges. The project, which has been approved under the Bharatmala programme, will be completely funded by NHAI and is expected to accept bids by August next year, Times of India reported. Delhi-Mumbai expressway: The proposed project may be a threat to tiger species in India

A group of eight fighter jets will descend on Agra-Lucknow expressway on the day of its grand opening on November 21, which is also the eve of party supremo <keyword id="6357168" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mulayam-Singh-Yadav">Mulayam Singh Yadav</keyword>'s 78th birthday .The aircraft will then take off and do aerobatics in the skies. 
 UP expressways industrial development authority (UPEIDA) CEO <keyword id="3976511" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Navneet-Sehgal">Navneet Sehgal</keyword> told TOI, “All arrangements have been made to conduct the grand inauguration.A group of eight fighter jets will land and then take off from the newly-constructed expressway .“ 
 The 302-km expressway , which is chief minister <keyword id="6355031" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Akhilesh-Yadav">Akhilesh Yadav</keyword>'s dream project, has been completed in a record time of 22 months and has cost Rs 13,200 crore. It will get operational by December. The longest expressway in the country is currently a six-lane project, expandable up to eight lanes. 
 The expressway which will pass through Unnao, Kannauj, Etawah, Mainpuri and <keyword id="55697" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Firozabad">Firozabad</keyword>, will reduce the travel time between <keyword id="6356295" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Agra">Agra</keyword> and Lucknow to just four hours, nearly half of what it takes now. Two farm mandis, a logistics hub, an IT City and a residential town are planned to be built along the expressway. 
 <keyword id="4855" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sehgal">Sehgal</keyword> along with Air <keyword id="3844676" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="vicemarshal-rajesh-issar">ViceMarshal Rajesh Issar</keyword> and other senior officers of <keyword id="6705798" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Central-Air-Command">Central Air Command</keyword> inspected the expressway stretch in <keyword id="3844677" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="bangarmau-of-unnao">Bangarmau of Unnao</keyword> district on Saturday . 
 “Indian <keyword id="6354954" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Air-Force">Air Force</keyword> planned the special air show as a tribute to the rapid completion of the expressway before its 26-month deadline,“ Sehgal said. The expressway was planned and constructed in a way that in the case of emergency or war, <keyword id="6355075" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="IAF">IAF</keyword> could land its fighter planes using the road as a runway.

Eight fighter jets to land on Agra-Lucknow expressway

Local residents got a visual treat after a <keyword id="889685" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Mirage-2000">Mirage 2000</keyword> fighter jet of the Indian Air Force (IAF) landed very briefly on the Yamuna Expressway near Delhi today morning. 
 
The jet, which flew from Gwalior, test-landed on the Expressway as part of a drill for emergency landings on national highways at 6.40 am. 
"The aircraft made a practice approach on the highway, coming down to a height of 100 metres before landing off the next approach," said an IAF statement. 
 
Several IAF personnel were present at the spot. While a makeshift Air Traffic Control was set up, bird-watchers, fire engines and rescue vehicles were on alert. 
 
Officials said the drill was to come out with possible landing strips on the national highway for fighter planes in case of emergencies. 
 
A spokesperson said the test-landing was a capability demonstration and IAF has plans to activate more such stretches on highways in the future. 
 
Meanwhile, the IAF also coordinated with the Uttar Pradesh Government and district officials in cities of Agra and Mathura. 
 
This was first of its kind for defence aviation in the country as in India, very few roads are available for such landings because of traffic, pedestrians and animals.

Fighter jet lands on the Expressway to Taj

Realty major <keyword id="438918" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Emaar-India">Emaar India</keyword> will invest Rs 2,000 crore over the next two years to complete all its ongoing 50 projects across the country, a top company official told <keyword id="6367495" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="PTI">PTI</keyword>. Dubai-based <keyword id="83201" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Emaar-Properties">Emaar Properties</keyword> entered the Indian real estate markin 2005 in partnership with India's MGF Development and invested Rs 8,500 crore through the joint venture firm <keyword id="44918" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="EMAAR">Emaar</keyword> MGF Land. In April 2016, Emaar <keyword id="53077" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Properties">Properties</keyword> announced its decision to end the 11-year-old JV through demerger. Since then, its Indian venture Emaar India is focusing on execution of ongoing projects, according to PTI. "Our focus in on delivery. We are putting in place all components required to complete our ongoing projects. We have increased the number of labourers on sites to over 10,000 from 1,000 a year ago," Emaar India CEO Sanjay <keyword id="35" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Malhotra">Malhotra</keyword> told PTI. The company has about 50 ongoing projects in Gurgaon, Jaipur, Lucknow, Mohali and Chennai comprising about 10,000 housing units. "We have got completion certificates for 2,000 apartments since July last year and these units are being handed over to customers. We are targeting to hand over all 10,000 units in the next two years," Malhotra said. Asked about investment, he said the company will infuse Rs 1,000 crore each in the current and next financial year on construction. Emaar India's CEO said the company has raised Rs 2,500 crore debt in last one year, of which about Rs 1,500 crore was used to replace costlier debt and rest on construction. The company currently has a debt of about Rs 5,000 crore. It would be raising more debts for construction purpose but there would be no equity infusion from parent Emaar Properties. Emaar India has brought in a new project management team to expedite projects. The uncertainty over the JV delayed execution of projects. On unsold stocks, Malhotra said the company does not have much unsold inventories. "We will be having unsold stocks of about Rs 600-700 crore, mostly on <keyword id="6385900" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Dwarka-Expressway">Dwarka Expressway</keyword> in Gurgaon," he said. In line with market trend, the company has cut price by 10-15 per cent in projects on Dwarka Expressway to clear unsold stocks. Asked about new launches, Malhotra said the company could launch one or two projects later this year depending on the market condition. Considering the current slow market condition, he said the company "will make what we can sell". The demand currently is for apartments of lower ticket size, he said. Real estate market, especially housing sector, is facing a multi-year demand slowdown that has led to significant delays in delivery of projects and forced consumers to protest and even file legal cases. On the demerger, Malhotra said he expects the process to be completed by the end of this year. Emaar Properties had in April last year said it has "agreed to take steps for the reorganisation of Emaar MGF Land by way of scheme of arrangement (demerger)". The reorganisation was being done for greater focus on its Indian operations and for the purpose of developing the potential for further growth and expansion of the business, it had said then. The projects and land bank have been divided between the two partners. Emaar India has a land bank of 6,000 acres for future developments.
