The ceremony that marks the end of Republic day festivities, was held at Vijay Chowk in New Delhi with India’s President, Ram Nath Kovind inaugurating the ceremony with a salute. Doors: Its doors, which weigh as much as Boeing 757, have armour-plating and thickness of eight inches. 
 
Driver's compartment: ‘The Beast’s dash board has a communication centre and GPS tracking system. Even armour piercing bullets and .44 Magnum cannot pierce the driver's window. The driver is specially trained by the Secret Service to perform a 180-degree 'J-turn' in case of an attack. 
 
Body work and chassis: The car also consists of steel plate to protect against bombs or landmines.

 Four years later, India fared very well in general elections that ensued last year and a change of leadership happened. The world, including America, watched with much awe the process that proved the mettle of a tea-seller-turned-CM turn into Prime Minister of the world’s biggest democracy. In more ways than one, Modi and Obama share some similarities. Both leaders caught the world’s attention when they got into the election rung in their respective countries, and both had high hopes pinned on them. While Modi’s honeymoon period still continues while he has stepped foot into the office few months ago, Obama has a short stint before his tenure in the <keyword id="6356037" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="white-house">White House</keyword> comes to an end. 
 
This time around when Obama comes to India, with the quintessential visit to the epitome of love -- Taj Mahal on his itinerary that was missing last time, the tension seems to have shifted places. Last time, Obama sought to put trade ties with India before politics. This time around, the order may be reversed to some extent, given the President’s considerably lowered charisma and tenure in his office. 
 
How is India preparing for the visit of American President though? The much applauded visit is less than a week away. The masterstroke that Modi used in inviting American President to India on the day when the country celebrates its military prowess, and also commemorating the day when it turned a republic is something worth lauding. But, what goes beyond that? 
 
Firstly, Delhi is expected to turn into a literal high security war zone with American President coming into the country when a right wing party is in power. In the recent times, cross-border terrorism has been lying low in a manner that can be somewhat compared to the lull before the storm. 
 It is also noteworthy to mention that last time around, <keyword id="199017" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="American-government">American government</keyword> spent nearly Rs 900 crore or $ 200 mn over their President’s visit. This time around, the expenses are anticipated to be even higher and Indian government will also put high level of security arrangements in place before Obamas leave the country. 
 
America has already sounded a warning bell to Pakistan, in somewhat a quirky development. The supposed world-leader America has minced no words when it instructed Pakistan that no untoward incidents (read terrorist attacks) should happen in India during the President’s visit. In simpler words, America has told Pakistan agencies that any untoward incidents that can be dubbed as terrorism will be traced back to Pak soil and will have serious implications. 
 
So, the Indians ask, will it be okay for Pak to strike India before or after the President’s visit? Why can’t America be candid about this involvement of Pakistan which has been fuelling cross-border terrorism with its neighbours and is a potential war house for all other countries too? 
 Meetings have been taking place between top brass in police department over Obama’s visit. Hotels have been cordoned off, criers have been banished till the President leaves the country, and all along the route he would be travelling to <keyword id="6356295" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Agra">Agra</keyword> for a visit to the Love Tomb. 
 
But, get this right. The Lutyen’s Delhi will have CCTV cameras fitted at every vantage point. Make it about 1,500 cameras according to the official data. SC has scoffed at it and has instructed the government to leave the cameras untouched after the visit is over, so that Indian citizens can have a chance with safety and security that is otherwise close to a fantasy. 
 
Along the borders, vigilance and security has been upped just so that enemy doesn’t break into the territory when India is busy celebrating its military power. The politicians in Obama and Modi will surely vie to make sure both justify the visit. It is the Chinese who will respond differently. Let’s hope it isn’t a bad gesture.

When an international guest, especially that of high ranking official and above, arrives in another country; the visit will usually be more than a courtesy call. 
 
Now, one can imagine what goes into a high profile visit when India hosts someone of the rank of a respective country’s President, Prime Minister, Premier or Army General etc. Rounds of security checks being done, menu being decided and meetings are being set up apart from a highly-packed itinerary drawn up in consultation with the officials of the guest of visiting country make for the regular must-dos. The more powerful the guest is, the higher detailing of the security arrangements take place on the land that's hosting him/her. 
 India is already on a high with the impending visit of American President <keyword id="15962" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Barack-Obama">Barack Obama</keyword>, who would be state guest on the occasion of Indian <keyword id="6416557" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Republic-day">Republic Day</keyword> parade. The event is mainly an occasion to commemorate the day when India turned into a republic, but India uses the day to show the prowess of military forces and technological advancements happening across the country—this apart from showing a slice of heritage from each state that is being administered by the Indian republic since 1950. 
 
While Obama was invited to attend this special event by Prime Minister Modi when he went USA as a state guest, there have been times when high-profile visitors have donned this event earlier on a grand scale. 
 
India has been the favourite destination of many dignitaries owing to the multi-cultural and multi-dimensional nature of its population. Last year’s Republic Day guest was the Japanese Prime Minister <keyword id="590894" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Shinzo-Abe">Shinzo Abe</keyword>. India has generally concentrated on its immediate neighbours to be invited as Guests of Republic Day Parade. 
 The first ever guest of Indian republic was President of Indonesia, Sukarno who came as the state guest in 1950. This was followed by <keyword id="28161" type="POSITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="king">King</keyword> of Bhutan Jigme Dorji Wangchuk who came to view the Republic Day events. Then in 1955, India perhaps felt the need to have a big name from the immediate neighbourhood. The Governor General of Pakistan, Malik Ghulam Mohammad came visiting India in 1955. In 1961, India had a very special guest – Queen <keyword id="6381870" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Elizabeth-II">Elizabeth II</keyword> of United Kingdom who was the guest on India’s very special day. 
 High ranking politicians have come from various countries (mostly third world) from around India such as Yugoslavia, Cambodia, Srilanka, Zambia, Tanzania, Mauritius, Soviet Union (then) Singapore, Maldives, Zaire, Ireland, France and Iran. During the UPA regime, the state guests came from countries such as Bhutan (twice over), Saudi Arabia, Kazakstan, Republic of Korea, Indonesia, Thailand and Japan. Two of the most talked about visits included the President of France <keyword id="6356025" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nicolas-sarkozy">Nicolas Sarkozy</keyword>, and President of Russia Vladimir Putin. 
 Among some of the most discussed visits, not necessarily linked to the Republic Day parade, have been that of <keyword id="237521" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ariel-Sharon">Ariel Sharon</keyword>, the then Prime Minister of Israel who was the first one to visit India. He shared great bonhomie with India and his visit helped India and Israel reach many agreements on defence, information technology, and agriculture. The President of France, Jaques Chirac’s visit in 2006 helped India and France ink nuclear cooperation and defence cooperation agreements which went a long way in holding the relationship between these countries steadfast. The bond still continues to be cherished. 
 Despite being a guest several times over, officials and dignitaries from Pakistan have somewhat remained a tough challenges for India to connect with its neighbour on the initiatives of peace, trade and cooperation. One of the most embarrassing moments India faced after the departure of a state guest was in 1958 when the Chinese Marshal <keyword id="2698120" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ye-Jianying">Ye Jianying</keyword> visited India on the invitation of Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. Soon after, both countries entered into a war that continued to haunt both countries for years to come. 
 India has been on the forefront of economies today having won over some of the most complicated challenges. Hence, the Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard spoke of solidarity with India just about three years ago, followed by Canadian PM <keyword id="73157" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Stephen-Harper">Stephen Harper</keyword> visiting the country, and German Chancellor <keyword id="76" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Angela-Merkel">Angela Merkel</keyword>, and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev setting foot on Indian soil. French President Sarkozy, Chinese Premier Wen Ziabo, and now, American President Barack Obama seem to have truly made this a star-studded event.
