He said that DRDO is going through a transformation from technology chasers to become technology enablers and trendsetters. These are also time-consuming and may require sophisticated equipment. The ICMR would also provide technical support through its team of experienced scientists in study, planning, product development, development of study protocol, results or data analysis, outcome assessment, safety and efficacy assessment, product improvement, etc., if deemed fit upon the mutual understanding between ICMR and collaborative company. The apex health research body through its institutes would provide support and facilitation to conduct the research and development or clinical study of new technology or product in India through its affiliates or institutes, in collaboration with the company and institutions in a professional and mutually agreed upon manner and timelines.

"Professor Baliga's innovation has allowed us to develop societies with electricity efficiently, while dramatically reducing energy consumption."Baliga, who has worked as a professor at North Carolina State University since his time at General Electric, knows there's more work to be done to ensure the world of electronics and semiconductors reduces electricity consumption.In particular, Baliga sees the world of <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/ais-rapid-growth-threatens-energy-industry-economy-and-climate-1033552538">artificial intelligence</a>, which has seen a huge burst of growth in recent years, consuming a lot of power.<h2 id="31e59015-9f9b-47b1-8ffd-63be68e7b785">Staying true</h2>In July, for instance, Google revealed that its <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.gstatic.com/gumdrop/sustainability/google-2024-environmental-report.pdf">total greenhouse gas emissions had increased</a> 48% since 2019, something it put down to "increased data center energy consumption and supply chain emissions." Baliga and his team, then, are working on new inventions to improve "power delivery for AI servers."As he looks back on half a century of work, he recalls that his award-winning invention would not have come to be had he not stayed true to a note he made in his application to attend university in the US: "Develop a technology that would benefit mankind.""That's a naive idea for a young 21-year-old, but it actually came true so how about that," Baliga says. "So my encouragement for young people: be ambitious but do something that is socially beneficial as well."The Millennium Technology Prize will be presented to Professor Baliga on October 30 in a ceremony in Finland that also marks its 20th anniversary. "The novel air purification technology used in these air filters has successfully proven its efficiency towards protecting us from life-threatening viruses. This innovation is a great addition to the R&amp;D work IIT Kanpur is involved in," Ankush Sharma, Professor-in-charge of <keyword id="14935950" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="innovation-and-incubation" source="Orion">Innovation and Incubation</keyword>, IIT Kanpur said in a statement. In the winter, an air conditioner equipped with this innovative air filter system from IIT Kanpur can purify the air with a 99 per cent filtration efficiency, said the report. "This indigenous revolutionary innovation has tremendous potential to succeed in the global market. This launch is indicative of technology catering to critical world problems," Amitabha Bandyopadhyay, Co-Professor-in-charge of Innovation and Incubation, IIT Kanpur said in a statement. This new type of air filter has proven to restrict microbial growth and is capable of capturing PM 2.5, PM 10, dust, pollen, allergens and germs from the air while purifying, the report added. IIT Kanpur researcher develops technology to turn ACs into air purifiers

The Indian Institute of Technology in Kanpur is now making its presence felt in the dessert business by giving a healthy twist to our quintessential sweet - laddoos. These organic laddoos are being prepared by 150 farmer families and are now sold in 22 cities - including Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Indore, and others. IIT-K is involved in the quality control, packaging, and distribution of these laddoos. Besides the sweet, the <keyword id="221522" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="premier-institute" source="Orion">premier institute</keyword> also helps the farmer families sell nutritious 'hareera' (a nourishing beverage) in different states under its "<keyword id="238889" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="unnati" source="Orion">Unnati</keyword>" project. <keyword id="525604" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="rita-singh" source="Orion">Rita Singh</keyword>, a convener of this project, said, "The delicacies first became popular among the students in the institute. As the demand grew, we started selling laddoos -- made from alsi (flax seeds), til (white and black sesame seeds), and gond (edible gum) -- in several cities. Now, we are seeking the help of our former students who have settled abroad to expand the business in overseas markets." The Unnati project was launched eight years ago in five villages of Kanpur's Bithoor region to encourage scientific agriculture and impart quality education to village children through smart classes. In the last year, some 150 farmer families from 10 nearby districts have joined the initiative. Scientists of the institute have also been promoting organic farming and creating awareness among the farmers. "Our idea was to teach the farmers about natural farming, small processors, buyers, and technology. Of course, we want to preserve our traditional recipes as well," said Rita. The institute has big plans for the organic produce business to provide the farmers with the maximum possible benefits. IIT-K is also leveraging blockchain technology to help the business flourish. "With the help of blockchain technology, buyers will get to see the field or house where the food product was prepared. We started with selling organic products through WhatsApp but are moving to the next level. The entire process is being streamlined. Our products will be available under the brand name Unnati. This will help the farmers immensely," Rita said.
