Edelweiss. This is further bolstered by the fact that the IT companies themselves are gaining on margins with employees working from home. Most companies will have a larger than usual budget for tech upgrades Companies don’t normally carry over their budget allocation for IT into the next year. But this time around, they’re making an exception. Majority of IT departments are likely to carry forward any of the unused technology budgets from 2020 into 2021, according to Edelweiss. The best phase of the ‘tech upcycle’ The surge in spending on technology upgrades has been dubbed the ‘tech upcycle’. It’s a result of the increase in online activity during the coronavirus pandemic. Back in June, the upcycle was just kicking off and the most expansive phase — when the money actually starts rolling — is yet to begin. But, some will gain more than others depending on where their focus lies within the digital space. For instance, spending on cloud technology is more important than investing in non-cloud digital services. “Cloud has clearly taken precedence in spends as clients now increasingly and strongly-than-ever believe that they need an agile IT infrastructure to manage variable data loads,” notes the report. With companies like HCL Tech, Infosys and TCS being the strongest contenders for cloud technology right now, they have the most to gain. A serious data breach — keeping in mind that the number of cyberattacks on companies during the last six months has been increasing — could have a serious impact on client trust and customer confidence. The depreciation of the dollar versus the rupee could also moderately affect growth and the resulting earnings estimates of IT companies, according to Edelweiss. And, while it is true that technology spends are stepping up, the North American market is an exception to that rule. Since most clients within the US are already digitally savvy, their budgets for IT may be slashed. <keyword id="6357549" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-IT-companies">Indian IT companies</keyword> may bear the brunt since, for most, the majority of their revenue comes from customers in the US. Lastly, while the BFSI sector is racing to catch up, it also means there’s a higher risk of companies within that vertical declaring bankruptcy. If a large enough BFSI client was to go bust, it wouldn’t impact the whole industry, but the IT services company providing services would be in for a rough ride. Talking of upskilling, there is a clear difference in the skill set that these employees possess and the skills that the clients need, forcing employees to upskill or look for new jobs. However, since COVID-19 pushed so many businesses to expedite their digital journey, the demand for these skills is higher than ever. “I see some of the skills which are high in demand, but clients are willing to pay a premium because of the pace of change. What is impacting us, is also impacting our clients,” Vivek Agarwal, the head of corporate development and global head for healthcare and financial Services at Tech Mahindra told Business Insider in an exclusive interaction. A study by <a href="https://nasscom.in/knowledge-center/publications/futureskills-talent-india-demand-supply-analysis">NASSCOM</a> estimates that India’s demand for digital talents is around eight times larger than the size of its fresh talent pool. In another three years, this demand is expected to be twenty times greater than the available manpower. Analysts <a href="https://www.livemint.com/market/mark-to-market/tech-mahindra-s-stellar-margins-steal-the-show-but-may-not-sustain-11611933180424.html">caution</a> that hiring based on specific talents could come at a higher cost. This could possibly impact the stellar margins that Tech Mahindra has seen over the past two quarters. “Talent availability is trumping the ‘rate discussion’ right now for a lot of these ‘very much in demand’ skills,” said Agarwal. Tech Mahindra has four vertices in its line of sight According to Tech Mahindra’s CFO, Manoj Bhat, the company will be doubling down on four vertices — communications, manufacturing, healthcare and BFSI. “That is where our investments are going to be,” he told Business Insider. And, within these vertices, cloud, artificial intelligence (AI) and digital is where the company is looking for the right set of skills. “Full chain execution — where somebody can deliver a program effectively — is more important to clients than just finding the right individual talent,” explained Agarwal. More deals, more money, and the need for more talent According to Bhat, Tech Mahindra’s pipeline today may be at an ‘all time high’. “It’s a very big pipeline today. We should see acceleration of deal wins going into Q4 and beyond, hopefully,” he said. And, with more deal wins, having the right talent on hand is more important than ever. COVID-19 has highlighted the drawbacks of what happens when a business doesn’t go digital, which is why businesses want ways to access their customers in a manner that is not solely dependent on a physical connection, according to Bhat. “A lot of customers are also looking at total outsourcing in a very different manner, which will then allow them some sayings on their operational spends, which will help fund a lot of these initiatives,” he explained. On the one hand, talent is going to get more expensive as the demand-supply gap widens. But, at the same time ‘work from anywhere’ is going to help expand the fresh talent pool as Indian IT services companies like Tech Mahindra look to capitalise on the third wave of outsourcing. New Delhi, Mar 12 () Revenue of Indian IT services companies is likely to be hit as coronavirus outbreak forces clients to enforce travel restrictions, and their deteriorating health could potentially lead to reduction in budgets, as per a report by Kotak Institutional Equities. The report said it has cut growth estimates across companies and the revised growth forecast stands at 3-8 per cent for 2020-21. "We cut revenue growth estimates for our coverage companies by 2-4 per cent after COVID-19 intensified in developed markets with many clients issuing travel advisories and instituting work-from-home measures, and deterioration in health of clients of IT companies that will potentially result in spending controls and reduction in budgets," it said. Kotak said COVID-19 has intensified in western economies in the past few days, and many clients have instituted work-from-home measures and issued travel advisories. "Impact on IT companies is a function of the duration and the lens through which clients view the current challenges. For now, clients across verticals have not pulled projects or programs," it said. However, this could change since allocation of budgets to new programs starts picking pace in March/April, it pointed out. "Any delays in allocations will result in companies reporting a weak June 2020 quarter," it added. June is a seasonally strong quarter and weakness in the same could impact growth for the entire financial year, Kotak noted. The government will provide incentives worth ₹7,350 crore over the next four years. It estimates that production will hit ₹3.26 lakh crore with exports worth ₹2.45 lakh crore led by five global champions and ten national champions. “Right now, the value addition of IT hardware is around 5-10%. In the next five years, this will increase to 20-25%,” said Prasad. The direct and indirect revenues generated from production under the new PLI scheme are expected to be ₹ 15,760 crore over next 4 years. The proposal also calls for insurance portability and quicker visas for those seeking medical treatment. 
 
The proposal also suggests that countries shouldn't impose barriers on the flow of personal information on account of differing data protection measures.

"We are also planning to have customised training modules for our service providers. Much of quality is also on reaffirmation of processes. We need to keep stressing on how to do a particular job. We would feel extremely satisfied if we ensure that 100 percent of our servicemen reach the homes of the customers at the exact said time," Saran Chatterjee, CEO of Housejoy, told ET. Housejoy has recently raised 150 crore funding led by Amazon India. 
 
Indian home services industry stands close to $100 billion (6.6 lakh crore), and with new companies being formed everyday, it has become highly contested. It means that only the very best of these would be surviving the tough competition.

The odds of an interest rate hike in the US are rising The US Federal Reserve’s Chair <a href="https://www.hindustantimes.com/world-news/despite-us-economic-recovery-federal-reserve-firm-on-keeping-interest-rates-low-101615696984892-amp.html">Jerome Powell</a> has been clear that if it comes to choosing between growth and inflation, the goal is to see more people back at work. “Today, we’re still a long way from our goals of maximum employment and inflation averaging 2% over time,” he said during the Wall Street Journal Jobs Summit on March 4. While the Fed is positive that it won’t need to step in and adjust interest rates before 2023, some feel that may be too optimistic a point of view. “Very low interest rates, which have held down debt service costs, will eventually rise despite the Federal Reserve’s commitment to an extended period of extremely accommodative monetary policy,” said global agency <a href="https://www.fitchratings.com/research/sovereigns/us-stimulus-will-boost-growth-at-cost-of-higher-deficits-debt-09-03-2021">Fitch Ratings. </a> This is supported by the fact that Fed Funds Futures — where investors can purchase funds in advance at prices they expect to see in the future — are beginning to signal that the US’ central bank could begin increasing rates in 2022. According to DataTrek co-founder <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/stock-market/news/us-stocks-are-on-the-verge-of-a-correction-as-interest-rates-begin-to-rise-datatrek-says/articleshow/81094483.cms">Nicholas Colas</a>, the odds of the Federal Reserve shifting its policy stance next year has gone from 2% to anywhere between 5% to 10%. That doesn’t necessarily mean that inflation is on the move, but the trend is “clearly not our friend.” “This means inflation is likely to be a risk well into 2022. The US dollar is expected to get stronger⁠ — that's good news for Indian IT services but not for many others

For some time now, rumours were rife that the company was restructuring its operations and Soundbox was the first to report that Dhingana could be quitting the game soon.

 It is the second <keyword id="1368003" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="music-streaming-service">music streaming service</keyword> to shut shop within the span of three months. In November last year, Network18-owned In.com shut down its music offering as it could not meet the cost to content and monetisation was not adequate to continue the business. With Dhingana’s closure, the <keyword id="4627" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Indian-Music">Indian music</keyword> market will just have three major players in this space – Times Internet’s <keyword id="-77" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="gaana">Gaana</keyword>, Tiger Global-backed <keyword id="2060236" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Saavn">Saavn</keyword> and <keyword id="18898" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Hungama">Hungama</keyword>, which is extensively supported by <keyword id="17191" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="T-series">T-Series</keyword> content. 
 
Surprisingly, Dhingana has not given any specific reason for the sudden shutdown. Last we checked, its <a href="https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dhingana.free.app">mobile app</a> was up at Google Play Store. 
 One key reason could be T-Series withdrawing its music from Dhingana. T-Series said it was parting ways as there was very little traction on the Dhingana platform, compared to other services. So it is quite possible that a <keyword id="2060242" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Content-crunch">content crunch</keyword> or <keyword id="2060241" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Revenue-crunch">revenue crunch</keyword> has driven the company to withdraw its services. 
 “We were not able to see much traction in the service and secondly we couldn’t agree on the commercials and both parties thus decided to part ways in an amicable manner,” <keyword id="2060251" type="POSITION" weightage="80" keywordseo="T-Series-president">T-Series president</keyword> <keyword id="835320" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Neeraj-Kalyan">Neeraj Kalyan</keyword> told TechCrunch at the time of the break-up. 
 Set up in 2007 by twin brothers Swapnil and <keyword id="1317460" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Snehal-Shinde">Snehal Shinde</keyword>, Dhingana essentially operated from the US although the company had an India office in Pune. It was a popular music service and claimed to have more than 9 million unique users per month while more than 50% users accessed the service from the US and Europe. Dhingana offered a library of 1 million-plus songs, in more than 42 Indian languages and genres. 
 The company was backed by VC investors such as <keyword id="455799" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Lightspeed-Venture-Partners">Lightspeed Venture Partners</keyword>, <keyword id="309606" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Helion-Venture-Partners">Helion Venture Partners</keyword> and <keyword id="683320" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Inventus-Capital-Partners">Inventus Capital Partners</keyword>, and had raised $7 million in Series B <keyword id="6357455" type="EVENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="Funding">funding</keyword> in October 2012. Lightspeed led that round while existing investors Inventus and Helion also participated in the funding. 
 In spite of growing competition, Dhingana had gone ahead with its growth plans last year and tied up with <keyword id="2060229" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="General-Mobile-Corporation">General Mobile Corporation</keyword> (G-Mobi) to pre-install its <keyword id="683603" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="music-app">music app</keyword> on 1 million devices. This would have enabled Dhingana’s <keyword id="956764" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Android-app">Android app</keyword> to be installed on Intex, Zen, Hitech, m-Tech and Maxx devices. The company also partnered with <keyword id="6354924" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Idea-Cellular">Idea Cellular</keyword> for a music subscription service, which allows users to download unlimited music with no data charges. The service was to be made available to Idea users using <keyword id="6355645" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="android">Android</keyword> smartphones and WAP feature phones. In a bid to monetise its mobile content, Dhingana came up with a paid subscription service for its <keyword id="75489" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="IOS">iOS</keyword> app, called <keyword id="2060249" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Dhingana-Gold">Dhingana Gold</keyword>. 
 With so many growth and monetisation plans in place, it is still unclear why Dhingana had to bite the dust and go <keyword id="1909965" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="out-of-business">out of business</keyword> so suddenly.
