The Mahindra Group company posted a net profit of Rs 493.9 crore in the year-ago period, according to an exchange filing. Revenue rose by 3.49 per cent to Rs 13,313.2 crore in the second quarter of 2024-25 compared to Rs 12,863.9 crore in the same quarter of 2023-24. "Other income includes gain on sale of property of Rs 4,502 million which comprises of freehold land and its related buildings along with the furniture &amp; fixtures sold for a consideration of Rs 5,350 million, receivable over a period of four years along with interest of 8.2 per cent p.a," the company filing said. Sequentially, net profit rose by 46.81 per cent and revenue by 2.36 per cent. "We continue to progress on our strategic improvement efforts even as the overall IT services industry has remained soft. "We have focused on strengthening client relationships and expanding the partner ecosystem while maintaining a sharp focus on operational excellence through project Fortius, which has resulted in an expansion of margins for the third sequential quarter," Tech Mahindra CEO Mohit Joshi said. The CEO unveiled Project Fortius in April, a three-year plan to achieve a 15 per cent operating margin with a focus on organic growth. "This quarter we see consistent performance around increasing deal wins, <keyword id="19965932" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="revenue-growth" source="keywords">revenue growth</keyword>, cost optimisation and steady free cash flow generation as we continue our journey towards FY27 stated targets. In line with our capital allocation policy the board has declared an interim dividend of Rs 15 per share," Tech Mahindra CFO Rohit Anand said. The company's TCV (<keyword id="23580531" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Total-Contract-Value" source="keywords">Total Contract Value</keyword>), or net new deal wins, stood at USD 603 million in the second quarter of FY25. Joshi further said the company is on the right path for a long-term sustainable transformation, with its leading indicators moving in the right direction, and its 'Scale at Speed' narrative resonating in the market. "We have invested in strengthening the capabilities in the focus service lines by broadening the leadership and investing in technical specializations. "We continue to invest in strengthening our fresher hiring program, building the right mindset and future skilling and associates, by building capabilities in AI-first and cloud-first skill sets," he told reporters. Investments shall continue in creating and sustaining an outcome-driven learning organisation and cultivating a high-performance culture based on the pillars of simplifying, clarifying, innovating and driving a high-performance orientation, he added. This year could be volatile because we are in the turnaround phase, Joshi said. "I am confident, however, that the platform is being set for a long-term, valuable franchise thanks to a high-calibre and united leadership team and a clearly articulated strategic plan," Joshi said. The Pune-headquartered firm added 6,653 employees during the quarter under review, bringing the total staff count to 1,54,273. Shares of Tech Mahindra settled at Rs 1,688 apiece on the BSE on Friday, down 0.68 per cent from the previous close. Tech Mahindra profit jumps over 2-times to ₹1,250 crore in Jul-Sep quarter

However, in August 2024, overall <keyword id="6383145" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="coal-production" source="Orion">coal production</keyword> decreased slightly to 62.67 MT, down from 67.76 MT in August 2023. <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword>'s <keyword id="6383145" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="coal-production" source="Orion">coal production</keyword> and supply trends for the period from April to August 2024 show a positive trajectory, despite some short-term variations in the month of August 24, due to above normal precipitation impacting the mining and mobility. In terms of <keyword id="6356966" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="coal" source="Orion">coal</keyword> supply across the country during the same period, from April to August 2024, it stood at 412.69 MT, with an increase of 5.17 per cent compared to 392.40 MT during the corresponding period of last year. In August 2024, however, coal supply fell slightly to 69.94 MT, compared to 75.19 MT in August 2023 Coal supply to the power sector remains a key priority. Between April and August 2024, supply to the power sector reached 338.75 MT, a growth of 4.13 per cent over the 325.33 MT supplied during the same period last year. In August 2024, the supply to the power sector was 58.07 MT, slightly lower than the 61.43 MT recorded in August 2023. As of 31st August 2024, coal stock levels at thermal power plants saw a significant increase, reaching 37.18 MT, a 32.08 per cent growth compared to 28.15 MT on the same day in 2023. These results reflect the <keyword id="19923650" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="ministry-of-coal" source="keywords">Ministry of Coal</keyword>'s commitment to ensuring stable coal production and supply to meet the country's energy needs, while addressing the operational challenges in the sector. India's total coal production reaches 384.07 MT, witnessed a growth of 6.36 percent

New Delhi, Coffee shipments from India rose 13.35 per cent to 1,25,631 tonnes during January-March period of this year on higher demand for <keyword id="20319140" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Robusta-coffee" source="keywords">Robusta coffee</keyword>, according to the official data. The country had exported 1,10,830 tonnes of coffee in the same period in 2023. India, Asia's third-largest producer and exporter, grows Arabica and Robusta varieties of coffee. <keyword id="20319141" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Arabica-coffee" source="keywords">Arabica coffee</keyword> bean has lesser caffeine content than the Robusta. Arabica has a sweet and smoother taste, while the Robusta is generally more bitter and harsher on the taste buds. According to the <keyword id="20293421" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Coffee-Board-of-India" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Coffee Board of India" meta.hostid="263" meta.entityid="Coffee Board of India">Coffee Board of India</keyword>'s latest data, export of Robusta coffee bean rose by 18 per cent to 69,637 tonnes in the first quarter of the 2024 calendar year from 59,050 tonnes in the year-ago period. Instant <keyword id="20319139" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="coffee-exports" source="keywords">coffee exports</keyword> rose 16,218 tonnes during January-March of this year as against 15,238 tonnes in the year-ago period, while re-export of coffee also increased to 26,239 tonnes from 20,952 tonnes in the said period. In terms of value, <keyword id="21237296" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="total-coffee-exports" source="keywords">total coffee exports</keyword> were at Rs 3,644 crore during January-March of 2024, higher than Rs 2,604.44 crore achieved in the year-ago period. The unit value realisation was Rs 2,90,057 per tonne. Italy, Russia, the UAE, Germany and Turkey are the major coffee <keyword id="21237297" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="export-destinations" source="keywords">export destinations</keyword> for India. In its post-blossom estimate, the board has projected the country's total <keyword id="21237298" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="coffee-production" source="keywords">coffee production</keyword> at 3,74,200 tonnes for the 2023-24 marketing year (October-September), higher than the actual output of 3,52,000 tonnes in the previous year. In the full 2023 calendar year, India's coffee exports had declined by 5.4 per cent to 3.77 lakh tonnes.

India successfully defend lowest total ever in T20 WC history with win over Pakistan

Computex 2024: MediaTek joins Arm Total Design as it looks to boost AI innovation

The financial details of the deal have not been made public and the two companies reportedly plan on filing for approval from the Competition Commission of India (CCI) soon. <h2>Tata’s iPhone production in India to get a boost</h2>Tata already operates an iPhone assembly plant in Karnataka, which it acquired from Taiwanese giant Wistron last year. The company is building a second plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. Tata to buy a majority stake in Pegatron's iPhone plant in India

The life insurer had posted a net profit of Rs 777 crore in the year-ago quarter. <keyword id="20840570" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="total-income" source="keywords">Total income</keyword> during January-March FY24 rose to Rs 37,567 crore from Rs 22,805 crore in the same period of FY23, <keyword id="19906098" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="sbi-life" source="keywords">SBI Life</keyword> said in a regulatory filing. Net premium income in Q4FY24 stood at Rs 25,116 crore as against Rs 19,897 crore in the year-ago period. For the full year 2023-24, the company's net profit grew 10 per cent to Rs 1,890 crore from Rs 1,720 crore in the previous year. Total income during the year rose to Rs 1,32,631 crore from Rs 81,598 crore a year ago. SBI Life said it registered a growth of 9 per cent in the value of new business (VoNB) to Rs 5,550 crore in FY24. VoNB is the present value of expected future earnings from new policies written during a specified period. It reflects the additional value expected to be generated through the writing of new policies during a specified period. Assets under management (AUM) grew 27 per cent to Rs 3.8 lakh crore as of March 31, 2024, it said. Solvency ratio declined to 196 per cent from 215 per cent in the previous fiscal. Solvency margin represents the additional capital that an insurer must maintain to cover potential claims beyond their expected liabilities. This serves as a financial safety net, ensuring their ability to settle all claims even in the most challenging circumstances. SBI Life Q4 profit rises 4% to ₹811 crore

Google Play has revealed its annual Best of 2024 awards for India, celebrating the apps and games that defined the year. With five of the seven top apps developed by Indian creators, the awards underscore India’s rising prominence in the global tech ecosystem. Mobile gaming also continues to boom, as the country solidifies its position as the second-largest market for gaming downloads worldwide. In a blog post announcing the winners, Google also shed light on how India is the world's second largest market in terms of mobile gaming downloads. "On the gaming front, the Indian gaming scene continues to thrive, with India adding 23 million new gamers in FY24, reaching a total of 590 million. In fact, India now boasts the world's second-largest market for mobile gaming downloads, with average weekly playtime increasing by 30%."
