<ul><li>More women are buying <keyword id="6362363" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="health-insurance">health insurance</keyword> plan with sum over ₹5 lac. </li><li>According to a survey by Policybazaar.com, the proportion of women buying health insurance plans increased from 9% in FY17 to 19% in FY19. </li><li>And their cover is increasing too. Six out of every 10 women are buying health plan with insurance sum of over ₹500,000. Policybazaar.com surveyed 10,000 women who were purchasing health insurance policies across 15 Indian states. </li></ul>Indian women are opting for insurance as a way to brace against increasing risk of diseases like diabetes, thyroid and cancer. According to a survey by Policybazaar.com, the proportion of women buying health insurance plans increased from 9% in FY17 to 19% in FY19. “Cases of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, thyroid, infertility and breast cancer among women are increasing each year. The data is indicative of the changing trend of women investing in health plans that benefit them in more ways than one and provides financial protection against such emergencies in life,” said Amit Chhabra, head of health insurance, Policybazaar.com. And their cover is increasing too. Six out of every 10 women are buying health plan with insurance sum of over ₹500,000. Policybazaar.com surveyed 10,000 women who were purchasing health insurance policies across 15 Indian states. Health plans with insurance sum between ₹5 lakh and ₹10 lakh witnessed nearly 80% growth. Policies with insurance sum of more than ₹10 lac saw a surge of 61%. According to the survey, two-thirds of the women buying health insurance plan were between the ages of 25 to 45 years. “The average lifespan for women in India is 69 years, which clearly tells us why it’s crucial for women to be adequately covered by an apt health insurance plan early in their lives. A health plan is important to women across all age groups, young girls can opt for health insurance with their parents while working or married women must opt for an individual policy,” said Chhabra. The number of women purchasing health insurance policies on Policybazaar also increased by 57% in a year. Indian women are bracing for emergencies with a higher health insurance cover

The Delhi government on Monday asked the <keyword id="6365858" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="hospitals">hospitals</keyword> in the national capital to form a media cell to monitor the social media and news. The direction from the <keyword id="1108395" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Delhi-health-department">Delhi Health Department</keyword> came on Monday after there were reports that there are a large number of social media messages regarding the functioning of state-run hospitals. Cannes Lions 2021: India secures 26 shortlists in Direct, PR, Social & Influencer, Creative Data and Creative Strategy Lions

New Delhi, Apr 21 () Facebook is working with eight independent third-party fact-checking entities, covering 11 Indian languages, to identify misinformation around COVID-19, its India Managing Director Ajit Mohan said. Besides, the social media giant is also imparting training to local governments and emergency health organisations on designing impactful health campaigns and accurate messaging with special focus on coronavirus. "We are deeply committed to being an ally for India as the country fights the Coronavirus outbreak and addresses extraordinary challenges on both the healthcare and economic fronts," Mohan said in a blogpost. He added that the company is focussed on connecting people to accurate information from health experts, curb misinformation and support local communities and businesses. "We have 8 independent third-party fact-checking partners covering 11 Indian languages as well as English. On Facebook and Instagram, we reduce the distribution of content that these partners label as false," he said. Mohan added that if users still see this content appear on their news feed, it attaches a label warning of misinformation along with a link to a fact-checked article. Facebook is also enabling greater collaboration between its fact-checkers and official state and national government in its efforts to notify the public of misinformation. Internet companies like Facebook, Google and ShareChat have stepped up efforts to tackle the spread of rumours and fake news on their platforms amid the coronavirus pandemic that has seen cases rise to almost 19,000 and claimed over 600 lives in the country. Mohan said Facebook's teams are also imparting training to local governments and emergency health organisations, given the increasing need to get timely and accurate information to local communities. "We have so far trained the Union Health Ministry, state units of the National Health Mission, State Governments of Kerala, Delhi, Karnataka, Telangana, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab and Odisha," he said. Mohan added that the company is also making efforts to ensure some of these states use the power of the platform to amplify their efforts through ad credits, as well as strategic marketing support for a scaled coronavirus response. It has also banned advertisements and commerce listings for masks, hand sanitiser, surface disinfecting wipes and coronavirus testing kits in order to help protect against inflated prices and predatory behaviour. "And if we see people selling these products in organic posts on Facebook or Instagram, we remove them. We have also banned ads and commerce listings that imply a product guarantees a cure or prevents people from contracting the Coronavirus," Mohan said. In India, the company is running a coronavirus information centre on Facebook and a WhatsApp Coronavirus Information Hub. Facebook working with 8 third-party fact checkers to flag misinformation around COVID-19

New Delhi, Mar 22 () Taking cognisance of fake news reports on the internet, the IT ministry has asked all social media companies to immediately remove false news spreading misinformation about coronavirus from their platform. The Ministry of Electronics and IT issued an advisory on March 20 asking social media companies to inform their users about not posting false news that can create panic among the public and disturb social tranquillity. "Intermediaries are urged to... take immediate action to disable or remove such (false news) content hosted on their platforms on a priority basis," Meity cyber laws and e-security Group coordinator Rakesh Maheshwari said in the advisory note issued to all social media companies. The advisory said that the coronavirus outbreak has become a global concern with Wolrd Health Organisation declaring it a global health emergency. It said that as per media reports there is a trend of circulation of misinformation/false news and sharing anonymous data related to coronavirus in social media platforms creating panic among the public. The advisory asked social media companies to initiate "awareness campaign on their platforms for the users not to upload or circulate any false news or misinformation concerning coronavirus which are likely to create panic among the public and disturb the public order and social tranquillity" The ministry has asked social media companies to promote the dissemination of authentic information related to coronavirus to the extent possible. The total number of coronavirus positive cases India reached 341 on Sunday afternoon, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare data. IT Min asks social media firms to remove false news from their platform

New Delhi, Apr 7 () Although social media companies are acting against spreading misinformation and fake news, any request to remove content needs to come via proper legal notice, industry body IAMAI said on Tuesday. The Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI), whose members include Facebook, Google, Tiktok, Sharechat etc said that social media platforms do not create content but onus of creating misinformation lies with their users. "While the platforms have taken positive steps to restrict the spread of fake news, any form of the takedown of content will still have to come via proper legal notices as determined by existing legal provisions. The platforms on their part are often actively engaging with such relevant authorities to facilitate a more co-operative mechanism in this regard," the IAMAI said in a statement. Last week, a report by the open-source intelligence and fact-checking IT firm Voyager Infosec bulk videos are being posted on social media platforms like Tiktok, Youtube, and Twitter to influence Muslims in India against following safe practices to contain coronavirus infection. The firm found that videos have been shot in both foreign locations and India and are being primarily posted on Chinese mobile video app Tiktok with religious instigations against health advisories and fake information regarding coronavirus. These videos are further shared on other platforms like Whatsapp, Twitter and Facebook," the report said. The report submitted to India Cyber Crime Coordination Centre, claims to have analysed over 30,000 videos within period five days, said that most of these videos have been created with professional video editing softwares and originally uploaded accounts are being deleted after circulating them to other social media platforms. The industry body said that social media platforms are collaborating with organisations like WHO, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, local Administrative officer etc for spreading correct information. It said that the platforms have also deployed "fact-checking mechanisms for verifying authentic news and also allowing and encouraging users to report news which is suspected of being dubious" and "running campaigns amongst their users against unverified news and misinformation to raise awareness against fake news on their platforms." According to the IAMAI, most platforms are also monitoring advertisements and organic post-based promotions to safeguard users from dubious products and claims of cure or relief during this crisis. Social media content takedown orders need to come via proper legal notices: IAMAI

<ul><li>India is going to fulfill the <keyword id="879547" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="sustainable-development-goals">sustainable development goals</keyword> before 2030. </li><li>The government claims to have reduced maternal and infant mortality rates, and under-five mortality rate, said the minister without giving any figures. </li><li>However, some of Javedkar’s claims conflict with one of a report released by the Indian government earlier this year. </li><li>In July 2019, the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India released a report highlighting the gaps in achieving the key objectives of the 2030 Agenda. </li></ul> Environment minister <keyword id="119642" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Prakash-Javadekar">Prakash Javadekar</keyword> today said that India will achieve its health-related sustainability goals well in advance. “We are happy to announce that the goals set for 2030 will be achieved much earlier,” <a href="https://twitter.com/PIB_India">said the minister.</a> The goal is to keep maternal mortality rate to less than 70 deaths per 100,000 live births. As per the target, under- 5 mortality should go down to 25 deaths per 1000 live births, <a href="https://data.unicef.org/topic/child-survival/child-survival-sdgs/">according to the UN. And infant mortality rate should go down to zero by 2030. </a> A release by Press Information Bureau also said that mortality of infants, mothers and children under-five is declining. “At the current rate of decline, India should able to reach its <keyword id="620876" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="SDG">SDG</keyword> target (MMR-70, U5MR-25) much before the due year i.e. 2030,”<a href="https://pib.gov.in/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=1587494"> said the release. </a> These claims come two months after Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) raised doubts that India may fall short in health-related sustainable goals. This is primarily due to inadequate spending on primary healthcare infrastructure. It also cited lack of data to track the progress of SDG as one of the reasons. <a href="http://www.censusindia.gov.in/vital_statistics/SRS_Bulletins/MMR%20Bulletin-2014-16.pdf">According to the Census</a> in 2017, as many as 130 women died per 100,000 live births. Infant mortality and under-five mortality rate was at 33 and 39 deaths per 1,000 live births. As per CAG, spending on healthcare itself is lower than what is budgeted for. It pointed out a massive gap in proposed budget and allocated budget into sprucing up India’s healthcare. The National Health Mission was allocation 13.6% less in 2018-19 than the proposed budget,<a href="https://www.indiaspend.com/india-unlikely-to-meet-health-related-sustainable-development-goals-says-govt-auditor/"> reported India spend. </a> The states are not spending enough either. As per National Health Policy 2017’s recommendations, states should spend 8% of their budgets by 2020. As many as seven states spent anywhere between 3.29% and 5.32% between 2012-2017. Overall, India spends a mere <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/india-spends-just-1-2-of-its-gdp-on-healthcare-but-a-policy-can-change-that/articleshow/64665303.cms">1.2% of its GDP on healthcare.</a> It ranks lower than Singapore, which itself is known for its low spending on public health.

"Younger, less-educated women were found to be the most at risk of mistreatment, which can include physical and verbal abuse, stigmatization and discrimination, medical procedures conducted without their consent, use of force during procedures, and abandonment or neglect by healthcare workers," said the report. Apart from physical and mental abuse, 13% of the women underwent cesarean birth without their consent. Same was the case with 190 of the 253 episiotomies performed.
