The stock opened at ₹266. This is lower than the grey market expectation of ₹55 premium per share. The grey market is an unofficial market where the IPO shares are traded before they are listed on the stock exchanges. Meanwhile, the broader markets were volatile on Thursday a day after RBI’s monetary policy outcome that saw repo rate hiked by 35 basis points and indicated more rate hikes to come. Let us take a look at what’s driving the earnings of these companies: Jubilant Food Works The 7.5% profit growth was capped by a sharp rise in dairy prices, which is a key ingredient in all the cheese that goes into the pizzas but that does not tell the whole story. The highlight of the company’s performance was the 6% growth in same-store (stores that are open for more than a year) sales. Not just that, it also opened a record 42 new outlets in the last three months, showing the level of aggression adopted by the management.

“JFL is entering into a high revenue growth phase (healthy SSG along with higher share of new stores),” a report from HDFC Securities said adding that the stock can gain another 21.5% to ₹2,175 in the next one year. Rallis India Rallis India, a subsidiary of Tata Chemicals recorded consolidated revenues of ₹534 crores in the third quarter for the financial year 2020. The company’s net profit jumped by almost 117% from ₹14 crores to ₹34 crores. “The new management team has improved on Rallis’ strategy (distribution, new products),” according to an Investec report. If you are waking up to this right now, the stock has already gained over 35% in the last one month, at a time when the Sensex has barely changed. But it’s still not too late. The stock can gain another 22% from here to ₹280, according to Investec, which increased the earnings growth estimate by 10-13% for the next three years, including the current one.

 Pidilite Pidilite, which makes the Fevicol brand of adhesives ⁠— a household name in India for the last few decades ⁠— saw its revenue grow at nearly 4% and profit before tax grow nearly 38%, compared to a year earlier. And the company expects double-digit growth in the next two years despite a challenging economy. Broking house ICICI Securities credited the performance and the rosy outlook to “continuous innovation, aggressive branding, higher rural penetration and its inorganic &amp; organic expansion in both domestic and overseas markets.” The softening price of vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) ⁠— a key intermediate used in the making of polymers and resins for adhesives, coatings, paints, films, textiles and other end-products ⁠— has propped up the profit for Pidilite. “The current spot price of VAM is hovering around $900 compared to $1150-1200 range prevalent in FY19,” said the ICICI Securities report dated January 20. But the company is using the cost savings to boost advertising and promotion for brands that are already very popular in India. People who held on to the Pidilite stock for the last one year have seen their investment grow 35% and it is near its target price of ₹1,524 already.

Vodafone will own a 45% stake in the combined entity. Meanwhile Idea’s shareholders will take a 29% stake and Aditya Birla Group, Idea’s parent, will own 26%. The merger will help Tata Steel improve its domestic capacity and make inroads into the automotive steel industry, which is dominated by Bhushan Steel. The all-stock deal, which also includes a majority stake in GSK’s Bangladesh unit and distribution rights to medical brands, is valued at ₹317 billion ($4.5 billion) and will see HUL take over GSK’s consumer healthcare operations and merge them with itself. (Image source- Wikimedia) In September 2018, India’s Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/indias-government-is-merging-three-state-owned-lenders-to-create-one-of-the-countrys-largest-banks/articleshow/65853052.cms">announced</a> the consolidation of Bank of Baroda (BoB) and Vijaya Bank, which had a bad loan ratio of 5.4% and 4.1%, respectively, with the struggling Dena Bank, which had a bad loan ratio of 11%. As a result of its poor financial health, Dena has been placed on the RBI’s Prompt Corrective Action (PCA) watchlist. The merged entity will become the third-largest bank in India and have nearly 9,500 branches and a bad loan ratio of 5.7%. Bank of Baroda is the largest of the trio with ₹10.3 trillion of total business and a pan-Indian presence, while the regional-focused Vijaya and Dena have ₹2.8 trillion and ₹1.8 trillion of business, respectively. As India’s public-sector banks have borne the brunt of the country’s bad loan problem, the Modi administration’s approach has been to have smaller, weaker banks swallowed by larger ones, just as in the case of State Bank of India acquiring five associate banks last year. (Image source- Wikimedia) In July 2018, India’s UPL Ltd, a maker of crop protection and agrochemical products, <a href="https://www.uplonline.com/pdf/UPL_Press_Release.pdf">said</a> that it was acquiring Arysta LifeScience Inc, the farm pesticides business of the US’s Platform Platform Specialty Products Corp, for $4.2 billion. The combined entity is expected to be the fifth-largest agrochemicals company in the world. The all-cash deal will cement UPL’s strength in the global market for crop protection products by giving it greater access to markets like China, the US, Africa and Latin America. However, it represents a significant change of pace for a company with a track record of smaller deals in the hundreds of millions of dollars region and could push it into an unenviable debt position.

The members of <keyword id="22212826" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="womens-self-help-groups" source="keywords">women's self-help groups</keyword> (SHGs) will get the best possible training so that they can operate the drones effectively for different purposes such as <keyword id="22212827" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="spraying-fertilisers" source="keywords">spraying fertilisers</keyword> and pesticides in fruit and flower gardens. Speaking to after the inauguration of the new Agriculture Development Research and Training Centre at Killa under the Gomati district of Tripura, Nath said, "The central government has launched the scheme called drone Didi which is especially for women. Soon after the scheme was launched, a state committee was constituted. As per the recommendations of the committee, drones will be sent to the agriculture sub-divisions." According to Nath, the appointment of trainers has already been done who will impart training to the SHG members. "The trainers are already recruited. We hope within the next two months drones will reach each of the 47 agri-subdivisions," he added. The Minister also announced that a special scheme has been undertaken to appoint "Krishi Sakhis (Friends of Farmers)" who provide agriculture-related solutions to the farmers in the rural areas. "One sakhi (friend) will be appointed for one rural local body such as Gram panchayats and Village Committees. We have forwarded the proposal to the central government. If we get the approval, the process of appointing Sakhis will be started immediately." On the agricultural infrastructure he inaugurated, Nath said, "We are setting up new infrastructure in all agri subdivisions. This is a new training center set up for the farmers of the area. All the officials, trainers, and experts will come here and speak to the farmers. Arrangements have also been made for video conferencing."
