On Sunday, Prime Minister <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword> hosted a 'Digital India' dinner for top tech CEOs at San Jose, California in the US. 
 
At the dinner, some of the prominent leaders who met the Prime Minister were John Chambers (Executive Chairman of Cisco Systems), Sundar Pichai (Google CEO), Satya Nadella (Microsoft CEO) and Paul Jacobs (Executive Chairman of Qualcomm). 
 The trip to <keyword id="6357722" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="silicon-valley">Silicon Valley</keyword> forms part of Modi's visit to the US' west coast - the first by an Indian prime minister in more than three decades. 
 
"With Prime Minister Narendra Modi in office, we have the opportunity to reinvigorate US-India relations and bring our partnership to new heights," Congressman Ed Royce, Chairman of the powerful House Foreign Affairs Committee said in a welcome statement as soon as Modi landed at San Jose Airport.

PM Narendra Modi speaks on the 70th Constitution Day of India

Prime Minister <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword> called for a closer security relationship between his country and the <keyword id="6356955" type="COUNTRY" weightage="100" keywordseo="united-states">United States</keyword> on Wednesday, in an address to the <keyword id="55355" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="US-Congress">US Congress</keyword> stressing the importance of the warm relationship between the two countries. 
 "The fight against terrorism has to be fought at many levels. And the traditional tools of military, intelligence or diplomacy alone would not be able to win this fight," Modi told a rare joint meeting of the Senate and <keyword id="141565" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="House-of-Representatives">House of Representatives</keyword>. 
 
"We have both lost civilians and soldiers in combating it. The need of the hour is for us to deepen our security cooperation," Modi said. 
 
In a speech interrupted by repeated applause, Modi did not mention India's neighbors Pakistan or China specifically, but said the deeper US-Indian security cooperation should isolate anyone who harbors, supports or sponsors terrorists, and separate religion from terrorism. 
 
With navigation in Asian waters, such as disputes over the South China Sea, a major regional concern, Modi said a stronger US-India partnership could boost peace and prosperity. 
 
"It can also help ensure security of the sea lanes and commerce and freedom of navigation on seas," Modi added. 
 
 He also stressed that India is committed to helping rebuild a peaceful and stable <keyword id="6354541" type="COUNTRY" weightage="100" keywordseo="afghanistan">Afghanistan</keyword>, even as he said he considers terrorism the biggest threat in Afghanistan as well as elsewhere in South Asia.

Several tech giants including MicroSoft's Satya Nadella, Google's Sundar Pichai, Qualcomm's Paul Jacobs, Cisco's John Chambers, Adobe's Shantanu Narayen and TiE's Venk Shukla are scheduled to meet PM Modi.

He said, "After a long time there is a stable and progressive government in India which can provide maximum benefits." 
 
He told the CEOs that India is fast-moving towards reforms and opportunities are innumerable. 
 
Modi also mentioned opening up of sectors like railways, insurance and housing. 
 
"There have been several progressive decisions one after another. I want Canadian companies to take advantage of it," Modi said. 
 
He also talked about solid waste management as part of the 'Clean India' campaign, giving the slogan from "waste to wealth." He said whoever has expertise should come to India in this regard. 
 
Modi also discussed the 100 smart cities programme. "The US has already decided to develop three cities. Japan and Australia have also done so and Canadian companies should also come," he said. 
 
Modi also talked about the possibilities of collaboration in the Ganga cleaning programme, stating that the river is 2,500 km long and 40 per cent population is dependent on it.

As expected, <keyword id="6354616" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Twitter">Twitter</keyword> users could not miss this opportunity to take screenshots and potshots at the company and also the government. Greeting people on the auspicious occasion of Navratri, Narendra Modi said that it is a phase to make yourself pure. 
 
"Navratri is the time to purify the self. The fact that I got to meet all of you during this auspicious time is my privilege," he told a rapturously cheering Indian diaspora at the MSG. 
 
Will Never Do Anything To Put You Down: PM 
At the MSG, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that winning elections is not for sitting on a seat but a responsibility, noting that he hasn’t even taken a 15-minute break since taking over the helm of the country. 
 
Indians Create Magic With Mouse: Modi 
Prime Minister Narendra Modi once again stressed that India was once known as a world of snake charmers, now with help of 'mouse' the people of the country have woven magic in the world of information and technology (IT). 
 
"I was in Taiwan some years ago; someone wanted to ask a question and was hesitating. He asked if I won't feel bad, I said go ahead. He said I heard India is a land of black magic and snake charmers. I said no, our forefathers maybe would play with snakes but we play with the (computer) mouse," he said in his address. 
 
Modi Praises Success Of India's Mangalyaan Speaking of the ISRO's <keyword id="6625456" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mars-Orbiter-Mission">Mars Orbiter Mission</keyword> (MOM), the Prime Minister said, "India is the first country in the world that has had a successful Mars mission in the first try. We reached Mars in a 
smaller budget than that of a Bollywood film. That is the talent of our country." 
 
PM Calls For ‘Make in India’ In a bid to boost up the <keyword id="6356076" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="indian-economy">Indian economy</keyword>, Prime Minister Narendra Modi invited the Indian-Americans and other US citizens to invest in India. 
 
“If you want human resources and low-cost production, then India is your destination. I invite you to the Make in India initiative,” he said 
 
Modi Announces Visa On Arrival 
Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that PIO card holders, who have faced visa issues, will get lifelong visas. He said, "Those who stay in India for a long time have to go to the police station, now they won't have to." 
 
"I have been told that due to differences between PIO and OCI people face difficulties, especially those who have spouses who are not Indians. I am happy to announce that we will merge the PIO and OCI schemes and make it into one," he added. 
 
I Will Make Bharat Of Your Dreams: Modi 
Concluding his hour-long address, Narendra Modi thanked the 20,000-strong gathering gathered at the MSG for their love. 
 
"You have so much love for me, probably no other Indian leader has received this kind of love... Mein iska karz chukaoonga (I shall repay this debt), to make the Bharat of your dreams," Modi said amidst the loud chant of "Modi, Modi".

NaMo Fever Grips Indian-Americans At Madison Square

NEW DELHI: PM <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword> will look to cement strategic and defence cooperation with Japan when he meets his counterpart <keyword id="590894" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Shinzo-Abe">Shinzo Abe</keyword> on Monday for crucial summit talks. In a move not likely to go unnoticed in Beijing, India is all set to ink an agreement for supply of rare earth metals to Japan and another MoU for defence exchanges. 
 
Japan, which depends on China for most of its supply of rare earth metals, has been looking to diversify its supply sources. It sought cooperation from India over rare earths in 2012 after a fracas with China over Senkaku/Diaoyu islands which saw Beijing temporarily halting rare earth exports to Japan. 
 
The two countries are expected to announce a joint partnership for infrastructure development in India with a major contribution from Japan. They are also likely to upgrade their 2+2 dialogue over overlapping security and defence issues to the ministerial level. India will also look to announce some progress in its negotiations with Japan for nuclear cooperation. 
 Modi arrived in <keyword id="4741" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Tokyo">Tokyo</keyword> on Sunday evening after a Kyoto heritage tour. Modi's visit is already being hailed as an outstanding success after Abe's gesture of flying to Kyoto to receive him there on Saturday. Modi on Sunday visited two ancient Buddhist temples in Kyoto in Abe's company.

Dressed in an all-white kurta pyjama, sleeveless jacket and white sandals, Modi offered prayers at the two prominent Buddhist temples in Kyoto — Toji and Kinkakuji. Official sources said Modi wearing white was a statement about peace and tranquility associated with Buddhism, an Indian “connect'' to Japan. 
 
He first went to Toji temple, which is inspired, as Modi told Abe, by the trinity of Hindu gods Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh. Modi was at the temple complex for about half-an-hour during which he enquired about the history of the eighth-century Buddhist pagoda. 
 
While leaving the complex, Modi thanked Abe for accompanying him to the temple and spending time with him. Abe, on his part, told Modi that this was only the second time that he had visited Toji temple, the last being during his student days. 
 
In Kinkakuji, Modi mingled with tourists and visitors, shook hands, pulled the ears of a child and posed for photographs with groups of people.

Abe lauds deep India-Japan historical ties 
 
Lauding Japan's deep historical ties with India, Abe said he was looking forward to the summit meeting with Modi after they spent time together visiting Buddhist temples. “Looking forward to seeing PM Modi again in Tokyo tomorrow,” the Japanese PM tweeted. 
 
In a series of tweets on Sunday, Abe spoke about his nation's “deep historical ties” with India. “I am very glad that PM Modi enjoyed the cultural heritage of Japan's ancient capital, Kyoto,” Abe tweeted.

When Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Toji temple on Sunday morning, a lotus attached to a statue of Lord Buddha stood out, much to his amusement. 
 
Japanese PM Shinzo Abe, who was accompanying Modi during the tour of the ancient temple, wanted to explain the significance of the lotus. 
 
He started detailing the significance and was midway when an amused Modi pointed out that he knows about it. “I know its significance. It is the symbol of my party (BJP),” he told Abe and both had a laugh. 
 Modi did not elaborate but during the campaign for <keyword id="6355187" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Lok-Sabha">Lok Sabha</keyword> polls, he left no stone unturned in advertising the symbol. In the end, BJP got a landslide victory in the elections.

In Japan, Narendra Modi And Shinzo Abe Bond Over Temple Tour; Will Hold Talks Today

NEW DELHI: Pakistan <keyword id="71" type="POSITION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Prime-Minister">Prime Minister</keyword> <keyword id="6576" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Nawaz-Sharif">Nawaz Sharif</keyword> on Tuesday called his meeting with Prime Minister <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword> as a 'good, healthy and constructive' one. "I had a very warm meeting with PM Narendra Modi," Sharif said. 
 Calling the meeting a historic event, Sharif said, "We seek to pick up threads from <keyword id="6580" type="COMPANY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Lahore">Lahore</keyword> declaration from where we left in 1999. Legacy of mistrust and misgivings have to be left behind." "India and Pakistan have a common agenda of peace and economic stability. We agreed to review and carry forward our bilateral agenda," he added. 
 
"My government stands ready to discuss with India all issues in a spirit of cooperation," Sharif said. "I urge that we should change from confrontation to cooperation and not engage in accusations and counter-accusations," he said. 
 
Stating that he was pleased to be in Delhi on Narendra Modi's invite, Sharif said, "I have invited Indian PM Narendra Modi to Pakistan." "Foreign secretaries from both the sides will hold meetings to take talks further," he said. 
 
Prime Minister Narendra Modi raised issues of terror and the trial in Mumbai attack case in his first bilateral meeting with Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif here today. 
 
According to sources, Modi raised the issue of slow pace of trial in 26/11 terror case which was being held in Pakistan and as also India's core concern of terror with the visiting Pakistani leader. 
 The two leaders also talked about ways to enhance cooperation in the field of trade during the meeting which was attended by External Affairs Minister <keyword id="6355111" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Sushma-Swaraj">Sushma Swaraj</keyword>, Foreign Secretary Sujatha Singh among others, they said. 
 
The two leaders had a firm handshake and posed for photographers before heading towards the meeting room for talks at the ceremonial Hyderabad House.
