New Delhi [India], June 23 (ANI): Veteran batsman Ajinkya Rahane managed to keep his place while limited-overs talisman Hardik Pandya was promoted as vice-captain as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced India's Test and ODI squads for the West Indies tour on Friday. A total of eight matches will be played in the series over a month. India will kick off the series with a two-match Test series, the first of which will be played from July 12 to 16 at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium, Dominica. The second Test match will be played from June 20 to June 24 at the Queen's Park Oval, Trinidad. India are also scheduled to play five T20Is and the squad for the same will be announced later. After the Test series, there will be a two-day gap and the third day, India will square off with West Indies in a three-match ODI series. The ODI series will be important as it would help the Indian think tank assess where they stand in white-ball cricket ahead of the ODI World Cup, which will be held in India later this year. The first ODI will be played on July 27 at the Kensington Oval, Barbados while the second will be played at the same venue on July 29. The third and final game of the series will be played on August 1 at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy, Trinidad. After the ODI series, the two teams will lock horns for a five-match T20I series. The first match of that series will be played at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy, Trinidad, on August 3. The second T20I will be played at the Guyana National Stadium, Guyana on August 6 while the will be hosted at the same stadium on August 8. The fourth and the fifth T20I fixtures will be played at the Broward County Stadium, Florida on August 12 and 13. The official added that the South African team will soon leave for their home. “The South African team will come to Delhi and leave by taking the earliest available flight,” the official added. India-South Africa series cancelled due to coronavirus threat

Rohit Sharma's side ended the league stage at the top of the ODI World Cup 2023 standings with 18 points. They had a net run rate of +2.570. The 'Men in Blue' finished the league round with a resounding 160-run victory over the Dutch side, keeping their perfect unbeaten record in the ongoing tournament intact. On the other hand, New Zealand finished fourth, knocking Pakistan and Afghanistan out of contention. Yusuf, 31, played 57 ODIs and 22 T20Is for India.

Uthappa had an amazing run in the 2014 IPL, scoring 660 runs, which was the most runs scored by an Indian batsman in a single edition of the tournament. That earned him a recall to India's ODI squad after six years, but an average tour of Bangladesh has again sidelined him, though he did lead India A in Australia this summer. On the domestic front, Uthappa had a strong 2013-14 season, scoring 374 runs in five Ranji Trophy games for Karnataka and 538 in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

A decent IPL followed for <keyword id="6354506" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Royal-Challengers-Bangalore">Royal Challengers Bangalore</keyword> (376 runs, five wickets) but it wasn't enough to earn Yuvraj a place in India's ODI squad for Bangladesh or India. Have we seen the last of the Player of the Tournament in the 2011 World Cup?

 Undoubtedly the biggest gainer from 2007. Given the captaincy of the T20 side without any domestic leadership experience, Dhoni led the side to glory and the rest, as they say, is history. He has since captained India to the 50-over World Cup and No 1 in Tests, apart from enhancing his reputation as arguably the best limited-overs finishers. Dhoni's success with IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings - they have won two IPL titles as well as the <keyword id="56308" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Champions-League-Twenty20">Champions League Twenty20</keyword> - has helped him become the richest cricketer around.

Rohit made his T20I debut at the age of 20 during the 2007 tournament, after getting an ODI call a couple months earlier, but the talent shown at a young age has not fully been realised. Rohit, now 27, still has time on his side to prove that he belongs at Test level. Looks a certainty to tour Australia and New Zealand, injury aside, for next year's World Cup.

With Yuvraj, probably the second-most naturally talented Indian cricketer of the last decade. But like Rohit, the allrounder from Baroda has not lived up to the huge expectations. Irfan was Man of the Match in the 2007 World Twenty20 final but has since played only 16 T20Is, the last of which came in October 2012. With his pace dropping and a series of injuries taking their toll, Irfan has been relegated to domestic cricket and the IPL, but recently stated that he'll be back in India blue.

India's No 1 spinner in 2007 (he took seven wickets at the tournament), Harbhajan is today looking for way back into India's plans. The veteran offspinner, who has 413 wickets from 101 Tests, is currently out of the Indian squad. The 33-year-old last represented India in a Test match a year ago, while in ODIs his last match was in July 2011. His last T20I was in September 2012. 
 
<keyword id="111751" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Joginder-Sharma">Joginder Sharma</keyword> 
 Who can forget Joginder for his last over against Pakistan in the final? Two evenings after he was given the final over and dismissed <keyword id="6377175" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Michael-Hussey">Michael Hussey</keyword> and Brett Lee to clinch India passage into the final of the World Twenty20, Joginder was again entrusted with the last six balls with Pakistan needing 13 runs to win. A wide and a six later, Joginder created history. Cruelly, that was the last time Joginder represented India. He has since plied his trade for Haryana, successfully overcoming a life-threatening injury to make a return for his state.

 A sad tale of a real talent gone astray. The Kerala fast bowler, who bowled some telling spells in South Africa, was handed a life ban by the <keyword id="6354756" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="BCCI">BCCI</keyword> last year for his alleged involvement in spot-fixing during the IPL, though he insists he was totally honest and non-corrupt. An international career that lasted just 27 Tests, 53 ODIs and 10 T20Is seems one truly unfulfilled for arguably the most naturally skilled Indian fast bowler to emerge since Zaheer Khan.

The left-arm seamer from Uttar Pradesh played a huge role in India's success in South Africa with 12 wickets at an economy rate of 6.33, with his spells against South Africa and Pakistan being the best he's bowled in Twenty20. A couple successful IPL seasons hinted at much more after RP struggled with injuries and form, but he has not played for India since he was shockingly recalled for a Test in England when holidaying in Miami. RP remains a central figure for UP in domestic cricket.

Kohli scored 51 off 63 deliveries in the first ODI of the three-match rubber against <keyword id="22501" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="New-Zealand">New Zealand</keyword> played at the Seddon Park. The 31-year-old has now amassed 5,123 runs as skipper and surpassed current <keyword id="6354756" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="bcci">BCCI</keyword> chief Ganguly's tally of 5,082 runs in 148 ODIs. He has taken only 87 matches to score these runs at an average of 76.46. Kohli has scored 21 hundreds and 23 fifties as India captain in ODIs. Former skipper M.S. Dhoni sits at the top of the list of highest run-getters as India captain. He had scored 6,641 runs as captain while Mohammed Azharuddin had collected 5,239 runs in the 50-over format. Overall, Ricky Ponting holds the record for scoring the maximum number of runs in ODIs as captain. Ponting scored 8497 runs for <keyword id="6355478" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="australia">Australia</keyword> in the 230 ODI matches he appeared in as captain. He is followed by Dhoni, Stephen Fleming (6295 runs in 218 ODIs), <keyword id="85552" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Arjuna-Ranatunga">Arjuna Ranatunga</keyword> (5608 in 193).

Virat Kohli surpasses Sourav Ganguly's track record in the list of most ODI runs

M Prasidh Krishna has received a maiden call-up to the Indian squad for their upcoming three-match ODI series against England. The 18-member squad, which was announced on Friday, also includes Suryakumar Yadav, who made his international debut in the five-match T20I series and scored a match-winning half century in the fourth T20I. Krishna took 14 wickets at an average of 22.21 in the Vijay Hazare Trophy to help Karnataka to the semi-finals, where they lost to eventual champions Mumbai. All-rounder Washington Sundar, who played his only ODI match against Sri Lanka in December 2017, has been included in the team. Fellow all-rounder Krunal Pandya also finds a place. Pandya is yet to play an ODI match and his last international game was a T20I against Bangladesh in November 2019. Fast bowler T Natarajan, who missed the T20I series due to a niggle, has been included. Natarajan played in the third ODI during the Australia tour on December 2 and took two wickets to help India to a 13-run win. India's win in Indore has ensured that they go into the Cricket World Cup as the No. 1 side in the ICC Men's ODI Team Rankings. Before the start of the series, The Men in Blue needed at least two wins to go into the marquee event at home at the top. India reached the ODI Rankings summit after winning the first ODI against Australia at Mohali. They will now continue to reign supreme across all formats as the number one team, having already occupied the top spot in Tests and T20Is. India is placed at the top spot with 117 rating points, while Pakistan sit at second with 115 rating points. Australia, on the other hand, slipped further and is third with 110 points. This is only the second time in men's cricketing history that a side has achieved the No.1 ranking across the formats. Prior to this, only South Africa had achieved the feat back in August 2012. India needed to win the second ODI to ensure their reign at the top of the rankings continues and they did it in some style with a thorough all-round performance.
