New Delhi, Apr 10 () The government on Friday said that there is enough stock of hydroxychloroquine in the country and it is taking all steps to ensure that there is no shortage of the drug in the domestic market. India is the biggest manufacturer of the anti-malarial drug that is being touted as 'game changer' in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. "There is enough stock of hydroxychloroquine in the country and we are tracking its demand, availability and production on a daily basis," National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) Chairman Shubhra Singh told . India is the world's largest manufacturer of the drug, which is used for treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, malaria and lupus, she added. "Ensuring the availability of the drug in the country is our first priority. Only after meeting the demand here, the exports are being done," Singh said. She, however, cautioned that the medicine should only be taken on the advice of doctors. India manufactures 70 per cent of the world's supply of hydroxychloroquine. Companies like IPCA and Zydus Cadila are the major manufacturers of hydroxychloroquine in the country. The Indian pharmaceutical industry earlier this week said there is enough stock of hydroxychloroquine in the country and drug firms are ready to ramp up the production to meet domestic as well as export requirements. India currently has an annual installed capacity of around 40 tonnes of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) of hydroxychloroquine. With this capacity, it can make around 200 million tablets of 200 mg, which can be ramped up, the Indian Drug Manufacturers' Association (IDMA) had said. The production capacity in the country is sufficient to meet the current demand. If the need arises, the companies are committed to ramp up production, the Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance had earlier told . New Delhi, Jan 11 () <keyword id="532833" type="POSITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Union-steel-minister">Union Steel Minister</keyword> <keyword id="197418" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Dharmendra-Pradhan">Dharmendra Pradhan</keyword> on Saturday launched 'Mission Purvodaya' which aims at accelerated development of eastern India through integrated steel hub. The eastern belt has the potential to add more than 75 per cent of the country's incremental steel capacity envisioned by the National Steel Policy, he said adding it is expected that out of the 300 million tonne capacity by 2030-31, over 200 million tonne can come from this region alone. The mission will drive India's march towards USD 5 trillion economy set by the government, the minister said at a launch event in Kolkata, according to an official statement.
 Stating that eastern India is a land of infinite opportunities, Pradhan said, "Despite being endowed with natural resources, this region has lagged behind in socio-economic development as compared to some other parts of the country."
 With the Mission Purvodaya in the steel sector, he said a new chapter will script the rise of eastern India by accelerated development of steel sector through an integrated steel hub.
 Under the mission, the government said it will enhance capacity through easing the setup of greenfield steel plants, develop steel clusters near integrated steel plants as well as demand centres.
 Besides, the government aims to transform logistics and utilities infrastructure which would change the socio-economic landscape in the eastern India The steps under mission also include growth of steel industry along with employment opportunities across the entire value chain.
 Eastern India, Pradhan said is a focus area for the government and about half of aspirational districts are in this region which are becoming hotspots of socio-economic development.
 He also mentioned that eastern states of India (Odisha, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal) and Northern part of Andhra Pradesh collectively hold 80 per cent of the country's iron ore, 100 per cent of coking coal and significant portion of chromite, bauxite and dolomite reserves.
 Besides, major ports like Paradip, Haldia, Vizag and Kolkata which are present in this region have more than 30 per cent of India's major port capacity.
 Since eastern India holds a special focus, the government has taken several measures including a Rs 102 lakh crore worth of National Infrastructure Pipeline, the statement added. ABI MKJ

New Delhi, Dec 2 () Biocon Chairperson and Managing Director Kiran Mazumdar Shaw on Monday said India Inc is "neither anti-national nor anti-government", continuing her support for veteran industrialist Rahul Bajaj who stated that India Inc was afraid of criticising the Narendra Modi government.
 Shaw, who had earlier said the government treated India Inc as "pariahs" and doesn't want to hear any criticism of the economy, was responding to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharman remarks that spreading one's own impression "can hurt national interest" in relation to the statement made by Bajaj on Saturday.
 "Madam we are neither anti national nor anti government. We want you to succeed big time as fastest growing economy n rise to the top of the global league of economies. I am a proud apolitical National n only want the Govt to promote good policies including at State level," Shaw tweeted.
 She was replying to a tweet by Sitharaman who shared a video of The Economic Times' ET Awards event in Mumbai on Saturday where Bajaj, chairman of Bajaj Group, had told Sitharaman, Home Minister Amit Shah and Railway Minister Piyush Goyal on dais that people were afraid of criticising the BJP government's policies and added that no one in the business community would speak about this issue.
 In the tweet, Sitharaman said, "Home Minister @AmitShah answers on how issues raised by Shri. Rahul Bajaj were addressed. Questions/criticisms are heard and answered/addressed. Always a better way to seek an answer than spreading one's own impressions which, on gaining traction, can hurt national interest."
 Supporting Bajaj, Shaw had earlier said, "Hope the govt reaches out to India Inc for working out solutions to revive consumption n growth. So far we are all pariahs n govt does not want to hear any criticism of our economy." RKL MKJ

The minister added that <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=electronics+manufacturing">electronics manufacturing</a> proposals worth Rs 1,290,294 Crores were received till date, up from Rs 11,800 crore in June 2014, when the government came to power. "Proposals worth Rs 18,000 crore have been approved," the minister said. 
 
Welcoming the new proposal of duty advantage of 8.5% to routers, broadband modems and set top boxes, digital video recorder and CCTV cameras among other products in the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Union+Budget">Union Budget</a>, the minister said the move will give a boost to the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=telecom+sector">telecom sector</a>, which uses many of these products. 
 
Domestic value addition in mobile phones, battery, wired headsets, speakers would enjoy a duty advantage of 10.5% compared to imported goods, the minister added. 
 
"We're happy to note that FM has announced moving a legislation to give statuary backing to <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Aadhar">Aadhar</a>, for delivery of services, subsidies, benefits coming out of Consolidated Fund of India," he said. 
 
The minister also said that India's share in the global <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=IT+outsourcing">IT outsourcing</a> has increased to 56%, while the services export has crossed $100 billion in the last 20 months.

The RBI adopts a negotiated dealing system to make it possible to issue these bonds. The interest rate on these investments are decided during the auction. Chief Minister <keyword id="43385" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="naveen-patnaik" source="Orion">Naveen Patnaik</keyword> approved the proposal for increasing DA from 31 per cent to 34 per cent, effective from January 1, 2022, an official release said. Four lakh employees and 3.5 lakh pensioners will be benefitted. The arrears of DA for the months from January to August will be disbursed separately, the release said. Odisha govt hikes DA by 3 percent for employees, pensioners

The Indian government asked <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/tech/news/rahul-gandhi-writes-to-twitter-ceo-parag-agrawal-on-suppressed-follower-count/articleshow/89149557.cms" data-type="tilCustomLink">Twitter</a> for data on 2,200 user accounts in the January-June 2021 period and the micro-blogging platform complied with just 2 per cent of the requests. There were also nearly 5,000 legal demands to remove <keyword id="6354616" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="twitter" source="Orion">Twitter</keyword> accounts from India in the reporting period, the company's latest transparency report has revealed. Global government preservation requests decreased by 4 per cent, while accounts specified increased by 24 per cent during this reporting period. The US (57 per cent) and India (25 per cent) together accounted for 82 per cent of all global preservation requests. Since Twitter started bringing out its transparency report in 2012, India has requested information on 11,667 user accounts, which is 10 per cent of the global information requests. The US submitted the most government information requests, accounting for 24 per cent of the global volume, and 27 per cent of the global accounts specified. The second highest volume of requests originated from India, comprising 18 per cent of global information requests and 30 per cent of the global accounts specified. Twitter said that it partially disclosed or did not disclose information in response to 64 per cent of global government information requests, a decrease of 9 per cent during this reporting period. Japan, Brazil, and the US were the top three requesting countries when it comes to non-government requests, with all three accounting for 89 per cent of all requests and 87 per cent of the total accounts specified for this period. In terms of legal demands from governments, in the six-month period, Twitter received 43,387 legal demands to remove content, specifying 196,878 accounts. "This is the largest number of accounts ever subject to removal requests in a reporting period since releasing our first transparency report in 2012," the company said late on Wednesday. In the January-June period, Twitter required account holders to remove 4.7 million tweets that violated its rules. Of the Tweets removed, 68 per cent received fewer than 100 impressions prior to removal, with an additional 24 per cent receiving between 100 and 1,000 impressions. In these six months, Twitter permanently suspended 453,754 unique accounts for violations of its child sexual exploitation (CSE) policy. In the first half of 2021, Twitter suspended 44,974 unique accounts for promotion of terrorism and violent organisations. According to Article 4(d) of India's Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, Twitter is required to publish a monthly report regarding its handling of complaints from users in India, including action taken on them, as well as the number of URLs that Twitter has taken action as a result of proactive monitoring efforts.
