Also, the markets regulator Sebi did not make any charges against the Adani Group. Adani Total Gas and Adani Energy Solutions jumped by as much as 14% and 11.9% respectively as of 9:30 am. This comes after the Supreme Court reserved order on the public interest litigations (PILs) on the Adani Hindenburg issue, last Friday. The apex court also said that the reports by Hindenburg and Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project could not be treated as credible. Markets regulator Sebi too did not submit anything incriminating against the group nor did it seek more time to investigate the matter. The bench comprising Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud, Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra also observed that there is no means of testing the <a href="https://www.financialexpress.com/business/industry-adani-hindenburg-wont-seek-extension-to-finish-probe-sebi-3317142/">veracity of the Hindenburg report</a>. “We don’t have to treat the Hindenburg report as being a statement of truth,” the bench said. US-based research firm Hindenburg had released a report on the Gautam Adani-owned companies in late January this year, alleging stock manipulation among others. It had also specified that it has taken short positions on various group stocks. Following the report, the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/stock-market/news/adani-group-stock-prices-fall-on-friday-due-to-hindenburg-report/articleshow/97575281.cms">group’s market capitalization sharply slipped </a>in the days following the report. Many PILs were filed on the issue, which were combined and heard by the court since February this year. The Apex court had asked markets regulator SEBI to provide a report on Hindenburg’s allegations. It had given a status update in August on the issue. The court had also constituted a six-member expert committee to investigate the matter. It has not <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/business/corporates/news/adani-companies-sc-appointed-panel-finds-no-evidence-of-regulatory-breach-by-adani/articleshow/100352920.cms">found any evidence of the Adani Group </a>violating existing market regulations. <table style="border-width: initial; The court case hearings on Friday also covered the OCCRP report on Adani. It had alleged that Mauritius-based ‘opaque’ funds had invested in the company. With regards to this and the many media reports on the issue, the court said that a statutory regulator like SEBI cannot be asked to take as a ‘gospel truth’ something published in the media. CJI Chandrachud asked advocate <keyword id="6368850" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="prashant-bhushan" source="Orion">Prashant Bhushan</keyword>, who was representing one of the petitioners and was referring to Hindenburg report as well as some reports by the media and the Organised Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), should the SEBI be following up journalists. In India, an additional 10 million direct jobs and 50 million allied jobs may be needed in this sector by 2030. New Delhi [India], June 19 (ANI): Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (<keyword id="6362419" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="HPCL" source="Orion">HPCL</keyword>), which is enhancing its footprints in the <keyword id="6354703" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="natural-gas" source="Orion">natural gas</keyword> market, on Monday said it has secured a major long-term contract from ONGC Petro additions Ltd (OPaL) for the supply of natural gas. HPCL will supply natural gas to ONGC Petro additions Ltd's petrochemical complex at Dahej in Gujarat. OPaL, a joint venture of ONGC, GAIL and GSPC, requires natural gas for operating its own captive power plant for supporting its power and steam requirements. In a stock filing, HPCL said it has won the contract through competitive bidding against a tender floated by OPaL. "HPCL will be supplying 13.53 Trillion Btu of Natural Gas to OPaL during the period October 23 to May 26 under this contract," the filing said. HPCL has ambitions in the natural gas business and is focused to build a strong foothold in the petrochemical and fertilizer sectors. Further, HPCL informed stock it has entered into an agreement with Automin Car Services Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of Petromin Corporation, Saudi Arabia to establish co-branded HP-Petromin Express vehicle service centres across India. Petromin is a leading mobility solutions player in automotive technology with more than 700 multi-brand quick-service outlets across the GCC region. "This strategic partnership aims to provide world-class customer experiences at affordable prices and offer a comprehensive range of solutions under one roof, including lube change, light repairs, periodic maintenance, battery replacements, tire services, air conditioning repairs and eco carwash facilities," it added. IPO Overview : DEE Piping, Akme Fintrade, GPES Solar

<keyword id="6355199" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="reliance-industries">Reliance Industries</keyword> Ltd (RIL), India's largest company, on Thursday said its board has approved hiving off its USD 75 billion worth oil-to-chemicals business into a separate division to enable the sale of 20 per cent stake in the unit to Saudi national oil company Aramco. The hiving off will be subject to the approval of the National Company Law Tribunal. After the approval, the oil-to-chemical (O2C) business will become a separate vertical with independent balance sheet just like the conglomerate's digital arm, Jio Platforms. RIL had organised all its digital businesses including Reliance Jio that has 388 million telecom subscribers, into Jio Platforms. It last week agreed to sell a 9.99 per cent stake in Jio Platforms to <keyword id="319320" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Facebook-Inc">Facebook Inc</keyword> for USD 5.7 billion. RIL Board "approved a Scheme of Arrangement for transfer of O2C Undertaking of the company to <keyword id="9147221" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="reliance-o2c-ltd">Reliance O2C Ltd</keyword> as a going concern on slump sale basis for a lump sum consideration equal to the income tax net worth of the O2C Undertaking as on the appointed date of the Scheme," it said in its fourth-quarter earnings statement. O2C undertaking of the company comprises entire oil-to-chemicals business of the company consisting of refining, petrochemicals, fuel retail and aviation fuel (majority interest only) and bulk wholesale marketing businesses together with its assets and liabilities. "The scheme is subject to necessary statutory/regulatory approvals under applicable laws including approval of National Company Law Tribunal," it added. In August last year, RIL head <keyword id="3820" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mukesh-Ambani">Mukesh Ambani</keyword> had announced initial agreements to sell a 20 per cent stake in the oil-to-chemical business to <keyword id="152170" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Saudi-Aramco">Saudi Aramco</keyword> for an asking of USD 15 billion. The deal covers all of Reliance's refining and petrochemicals assets as well as the remainder of stake the firm has in fuel retailing business after selling 49 per cent to BP Plc of UK for Rs 7,000 crore. The deal, which valued the oil-to-chemical business at USD 75 billion, was to close by March 2020 but it is now expected to close within the current calendar year. Reliance has pivoted away from energy to the new economy. But refining and petrochemicals are cash cows for Reliance and still account for the bulk of its EBITDA. As part of the August deal, Saudi Aramco will supply 500,000 barrels per day (25 million tonnes a year) of crude on a long-term basis to RIL's Jamnagar refinery complex (more than a third of the 1.36 million bpd refining capacity). The deals give Aramco and BP access to the fastest-growing refined fuels market in the world. Market analyst firm Bernstein in a recent report had stated that it expects RIL to grow their petrochemical and refining business given the secular growth opportunities. "While bears will argue that Reliance is stepping away from energy to digital, we see this deal as an opportunity to expand the downstream business in India with a solid partnership. For Aramco, the deal provides direct access to what is widely expected to be the fastest-growing refined oil product market over the next 20 years," it said. "For Reliance, it provides cash to fund the expansion of their digital business and further expansion of downstream capacity with an experienced partner." While talks with Aramco continue, the BP deal has been finalised. Reliance's existing 1,400-odd petrol pumps, as well as 31 aviation fuel stations, will be transferred to the new joint venture where BP will hold 49 per cent equity stake. Reliance will hold the balance 51 per cent in the entity, which aims to expand the retail network to 5,500 petrol pumps in the next five years. This is the third joint venture between Reliance and BP since 2011. BP had in 2011 bought 30 per cent stake in 21 oil and gas exploration and production blocks of Reliance for USD 7.2 billion. At that time, another 50:50 joint venture, <keyword id="838593" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="India-Gas-Solutions">India Gas Solutions</keyword>, was set up for sourcing and marketing gas in India. The country currently has 69,109 petrol pumps, with public sector retailers owning 61,811. PSU retailers have plans to double this network and have already started appointing dealers. Russia's Rosneft-backed Nayara Energy, formerly Essar Oil, has 5,702 petrol pumps and has plans to scale them up to more than 7,000 in two-three years. Royal Dutch Shell has 189 outlets and is slated to add 150-200 more petrol pumps. BP had in 2016 received a licence from the government to set up 3,500 petrol pumps in India. French energy giant Total SA too is keen on entering the Indian retail market and has tied up with Adani Group for the same. The Saudi national oil company, along with its partner UAE's Abu Dabhi National Oil Co (ADNOC) has taken a 50 per cent stake in a planned USD 60-billion mega refinery-cum-petrochemical complex in Maharashtra by state-owned oil companies, and has a bullish outlook on India's energy demand and is keen on investing here. Reliance operates two refineries in Jamnagar, Gujarat, with a total capacity of 68.2 million tonnes per annum. It plans to expand its only-for-exports special economic zone (SEZ) refining capacity to just over 41 million tonnes from the current 35.2 million tonnes. Saudi Arabia, on the other hand, is keen to get a foothold in the world's fastest-growing fuel market to get a captive customer for the crude oil it produces. Crude oil is the basic raw material for the manufacturing of petrochemicals. Saudi Aramco is also keen on retailing fuel in India. A refinery in India can also be a base for it to export fuel to deficit countries in Europe and the Americas. India has a refining capacity of 249.9 million tonnes, which exceeded the demand of 213.7 million tonnes. Reliance to hive off $75 billion oil-to-chemicals business into separate unit for sale to Aramco

If an EU embargo happens, it would likely send the economy spiraling into a depression," Matt Smith, lead oil analyst at <keyword id="11893875" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="markets" source="Orion">markets</keyword> analytics firm <a href="https://www.kpler.com/?utm_source=linkedin&amp;utm_medium=linkedin-companypage&amp;utm_campaign=linkedin-companypage">Kpler</a>, told Insider. Without European buyers, Russia would need to find somewhere to put roughly 2.5 million barrels a day. Unless Moscow can sell that supply quickly or at least find a place to stash it, there's a strong chance Russia will have to slash its oil production dramatically due to its limited storage capacity, he said. Russia could use its extensive network of pipelines as storage space, but that wouldn't hold all the excess supply, Smith explained, adding that unsold crude also could be loaded onto tankers and stored offshore.But such solutions still wouldn't address the hard-to-fill hole in Russia's economy that an EU embargo would create. Oil export revenue to Europe accounted for 11% of Russia's GDP in 2021, far more than the 2.3%-2.6% that <keyword id="11955852" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="gas" source="Orion">gas</keyword> <keyword id="12534666" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="exports" source="Orion">exports</keyword> to Europe comprised, <a href="https://rhg.com/research/us-policy-russia-energy-dependence/">according to the Rhodium Group</a>. "A dent in export revenue will ultimately result in significant deterioration in the country's economy," Smith said. Smith estimates the two countries, which largely have avoided condemning Moscow for its war on Ukraine, could take in an additional 1 million barrels per day from Russia. In fact, onshore oil inventories in China are 90 million barrels below their peak from late 2020, Smith noted. If Beijing pivots away from current suppliers, it could replenish its stockpile with heavily discounted Russian oil.But even if China and India increase Russia energy imports, it remains "highly, highly unlikely" they could absorb 100% of the stranded barrels, he added. "India typically imports about 4.5 million barrels per day, so it would be very difficult for them to logistically pull in a huge amount of additional crude given it likely has a significant volume of its imports under long-term contracts from the Middle East," Smith said.He cited other logistical issues, such as getting insurance for new cargoes or finding enough available vessels to accommodate an influx of oil.Meanwhile, China's demand for energy has dropped under Beijing's zero-Covid policies, and its own oil refineries have dialed back.It's still possible China could buy more Russian oil and is simply waiting for an EU embargo to kick in so it can take advantage of steeper oil discounts, he said. But either way, Moscow can expect to generate less oil revenue. "Every single dollar a country is paying for Russian oil is funding the war [in Ukraine]. By cutting off those revenues, the goal is to ultimately cut off Russia's ability to continue this war," Smith said.

<ul><li>Finance Minister <keyword id="129243" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nirmala-Sitharaman">Nirmala Sitharaman</keyword> announced the <keyword id="10690208" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="national-hydrogen-mission">National Hydrogen Mission</keyword> during the <keyword id="10279586" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Budget-2021-22">Budget 2021-22</keyword> on February 1.</li><li>According to Gateway House fellow Chaitanya Giri, the new initiative will benefit domestic companies like Reliance, Tatas, Mahindra &amp; Mahindra, and Indian Oil.</li><li>He proposes setting up a coalition with companies can help each other and also help India diversify its clean energy options.</li></ul>India is planning to capitalise on one of the most abundant elements on earth — <keyword id="169046" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="hydrogen">hydrogen</keyword>. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharman announced the National Hydrogen Mission during the Budget 2021-22 to gain from this universally-available element. The green energy source could also bring together some of India’s biggest companies like Reliance, Tatas, Mahindras, and Indian Oil, according to Chaitanya Giri — a fellow of space and ocean studies with the Mumbai-based think tank Gateway House who wrote a paper on the <a href="https://www.gatewayhouse.in/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Methane-Economy_FINAL.pdf">Methane Economy. </a> According to him, the need of the hour is a coalition of stakeholders like the Hydrogen Council or the European Hydrogen Coalition. “Companies like Indian Oil, the Tatas, the Mahindras, the Eicher — let them be a part of the coalition. Then speciality chemicals companies like Reliance can be also a part of it,” he told Business Insider in an exclusive interview. Why does India need a hydrogen coalition? The answer is simple — no one company nor an industry can pull this off alone. You need the auto sector, fuel companies, speciality chemicals and advanced materials companies to work together. To make hydrogen a feasible solution, India doesn’t need just fuel — it will need cars that can process it. It also needs fueling stations and technology to ensure it remains safe as Hydrogen is an explosive element by nature. Countries like Germany have already demonstrated that a coalition is an excellent way forward. It <a href="https://bioenergyinternational.com/research-development/germany-pledges-eur-300-million-for-green-hydrogen-research">aim</a>s to set up 400 hydrogen fueling stations by 2023. “They are using the Hydrogen Council to the best extent possible,” said Giri. India can also seek help from Norway, Sweden or New Zealand to create a blueprint of a system. But their projects have to be scaled to meet the size of India. The population of these countries are only one-fourth the size of urban cities in India — Norway has a population of 55 lakh whereas Mumbai has over two crore people. At best, their national-scale ideas can be replicated to Indian cities but can be useful initially. Giri believes that international players with technology to make hydrogen safe — like Air Products and Linde — are already here in India. “These companies will take up contracts for setting up gas infrastructure and storage devices alongside the highways. They will be crucial for dispensing infrastructure like gas fueling stations,” he said. How will India make Hydrogen? Currently, there are two approaches to collect hydrogen. One is the electrolysis of water. However, water is a scarce resource. The other is <keyword id="6354703" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="natural-gas">natural gas</keyword> which can be split into two parts Hydrogen and one part Carbon. The hydrogen can be used for fuel and the leftover carbon, once solidified, can be used to create speciality materials for sectors like space, aerospace, auto, shipbuilding, electronics and more. While these two approaches are already on the market, there is one more approach which is not yet business-ready — absorbing Methane directly from the air and then using scrubbers to convert that gas into hydrogen and carbon. Prototypes are already in the works in Europe, Saudi Arabia and the US. “We just need to implement them on-ground and commercialise these technologies in a way that you have a substantial quantity of fuel,” explained Giri. What will happen to lithium batteries and electric cars? Electric cars are currently the flavour of the season but the use of lithium batteries comes with a set of challenges. For one, most of the lithium batteries are imported and there are ‘range anxiety’ issues which hydrogen fuel can ease. Electric cars can go for around 200-250 kilometres before needing to recharge. Hydrogen cars will be able to go twice the distance if not more. That means less fueling stations and less stress for the drivers. Most importantly, there’s more hydrogen around than there is lithium in the world. “Lithium batteries will fall behind due to the sheer abundance of Hydrogen,” said Giri. Hydrogen, if done right, will be a good alternative for a conventional internal combustion engine. It can also help meet the massive energy needs of India’s exploding population. New Delhi, Nov 13 (IANS) The Confederation of Resident Welfare Association, a pan-India apex body of RWAs, on Friday shot a letter to Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar seeking concrete actions to curb the air pollution menace in the country, instead of hiding its failure under the garb of stubble burning. The association put forth a nine-step solution model before the government. It urged the government to induct 200 CNG and electric city busses up to last mile connectivity in every big city on priority and restrict tempo and autos to arterial roads. This will lead to minimal use of personal vehicles by commuters automatically, it said. This comes in the light of the spike in air pollution in Delhi and adjoining states like Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh. The situation has become grave due to the wrath of the coronavirus pandemic, which reportedly gets aggravated by the pollution. The confederation said, "The government could have taken the right steps from 2013 onwards instead of hiding its failure under the garb of stubble burning." "Every industry is supposed to install and run an effluent treatment plant (ETP) for its liquid and air discharge. In reality, most industries dump their effluent into the ground by reverse boring within their premises by stealth," the confederation said. It added, "Some of the industries have installed ETPs for show, they run them only during inspection. This happens with the tacit approval of the PCs. To break this nexus, let the civil society in each city be allowed to carry out surprise checks of ETPs." The RWA body, headed by Rao VBJ Chelikani, urged the Union ministry to ask the local administration to adopt green cremation system as it would save about six crore plants annually. "Since the 'kapal kriya' and other rituals can be performed as in conventional cremation, no one can raise a voice in the name of 'aastha' as against the electric crematorium. Two such units have been installed at the Hindon cremation yard in Ghaziabad," it said. Giving another solution, the confederation said that if 2,000 CCTV cameras are installed on the main roads passing through a city, the traffic will become smooth, accidents will reduce, jams will decrease. Traffic congestion increases vehicle emissions and degrades ambient air quality. Further, it asked the government to allow every district magistrate to decide one car free day per month. The idea of vertical gardening and e-waste collection centre was also put forth. "A research from Mexico brings out that creepers covered on the facade of a four-story building can absorb 40 tonnes of toxic gas in a year. Can we not start raising creepers on the walls of fly overs and Metro lines followed by government buildings and private buildings? It neither requires space, nor budget nor amendment in the Constitution," it said. The confederation said that there should be sanitary land-fills instead of dumping grounds. "Mumbai and Delhi have already burnt their hands by developing dumping grounds. Let there be sanitary landfills. It requires filing of solid waste in trenches and its daily consolidation and covering," it said. The confederation further said that unauthorised vehicles in north India and tractor trolleys carrying uncovered building material, which do not pay any road tax, should be banned for at least three months with immediate effect. --IANS aka/arm

<keyword id="6358777" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="New-Delhi">New Delhi</keyword>, <keyword id="6355199" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="reliance-industries">Reliance Industries</keyword> Limited (RIL) and BP Exploration Alpha Limited (BPEAL) have invited <keyword id="48985" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bids">bids</keyword> through an online platform companies for the <keyword id="6355653" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="gas">gas</keyword> produced from the <keyword id="187231" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="KG-D6-Basin">KG D6 basin</keyword> in Kakinanda. In a <keyword id="1176272" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="public-notice">public notice</keyword>, RIL and BP while inviting bids said they expect to sell the gas from February 1, 2021. "The gas produced for KG D6 will be available for sale at the delivery point at Gadimoga near Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh tentatively from 01 February 2021," RIL and BP said in the notice. Crisil Risk and Infrastructure Solutions has been appointed by the consortium to conduct the bidding process for sale of gas through an online web based electronic bidding platform. The consortium is currently producing and developing deep water gas fields under the production sharing contract with the government. Earlier this month, RIL and BP had announced the start of production from the R Cluster, ultra-deep-water gas field in block KG D6 off the Kakinada coast. RIL and BP are developing three deepwater gas projects in block KG D6  R Cluster, Satellites Cluster and MJ  which together are expected to meet 15% of <keyword id="3658" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="India">India</keyword>'s gas demand by 2023. These projects will utilise the existing hub infrastructure in KG D6 block. RIL is the operator of KG D6 with a 66.67% participating interest and BP holds a 33.33% participating interest. R Cluster is the first of the three projects to come onstream. The field is located about 60 kilometers from the existing KG D6 Control &amp; Riser Platform (CRP) off the Kakinada coast and comprises a subsea production system tied back to CRP via a subsea pipeline. Located at a water depth of greater than 2000 meters, it is the deepest offshore gas field in Asia. The field is expected to reach plateau gas production of about 12.9 million standard cubic meters per day (mmscmd) in 2021.
