Obama narrowly won it in 2008. Nebraska Republicans then successfully pushed to gerrymander the seat. Amid a broader demographic realignment, Biden easily won the district in 2020. Trump's best plan for Warren Buffett's backyard was a last-minute change to the state law. But <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-nebraska-2nd-electoral-college-vote-omaha-harris-mcdonnell-2024-9">it didn't work</a>. It means there is still a possibility that Harris wins the presidency 270 to 268, avoiding the possibility of just the second tie in the nation's history.Trump's team once dreamed of flipping Minnesota, New Hampshire, and perhaps even New Mexico in a rout of Biden. Since Harris' rise, they have tried to hang on to North Carolina. It's quite possible Trump could flip Georgia and Arizona, seizing on his increased standing among Black and Latino men. Disney CFO says Epic Universe's opening could boost attendance at Disney's Florida theme parks

Days after Trump won his way to the White House, becoming the 47th President of the United States, the US Federal Reserve slashed the interest rates by 25 basis points, bringing them within the range of 4.5-4.75%. This is the second time this year that the Fed has lowered the interest rates, after cutting them down by 50 basis points in September 2024. u Fed chair Jerome Powell noted that monetary policy remains tight as inflation remains elevated at 2.4% as of September 2024, slightly above the 2% mark set by the commission. However, the Fed remained optimistic about the current state of the economy. "The Committee seeks to achieve maximum employment and inflation at 2% over the longer run. The Committee judges that the risks to achieving its employment and inflation goals are roughly in balance. The economic outlook is uncertain, and the Committee is attentive to the risks to both sides of its dual mandate," the FOMC (Federal Open Market Committee) noted in its press release. The rate cut was along widely anticipated lines, although experts were wary of the Fed's way ahead, given that Donald Trump has been elected as the US President. In the past, he has, on multiple occasions, expressed his desire to yield greater influence on the Fed, apart from publicly criticizing Powell. However, Powell continued to stand his ground, noting that Trump cannot legally sack him. He believed in keeping the Fed independent, at least until his tenure as governor ends in 2028. He highlighted that even if he is explicitly asked by Trump to quit, he won't do so. <h2>Trump's regime to inch up inflation?</h2> Trump's electoral promises, if translated into policies, could spell disaster for the Fed's effort to curtail inflation. Reportedly, Trump has promised to levy aggressive tariffs against US trading partners, particularly China, and even extend his 2017 tax cuts. This could mean higher levels of the federal deficit, which would push up prices, wages, and hence, inflation, even as the Fed tries to consistently bring it under control. Apurva Sheth, Head of Market Perspectives and Research, SAMCO Securities, notes that it wasn't a surprise when the US Fed cut interest rates by 25 basis points (bps) to 4.75%. The Fed had given enough clues, and the market too had anticipated these rate cuts. "However, what was surprising was how the <keyword id="23863852" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="US-10-year-bond-yields" source="keywords">US 10-year bond yields</keyword> moved over the last one and a half months, which have been rising relentlessly from 3.6% to almost 4.5% despite the 50 bps cut in the last Fed meeting. It seems that the market is anticipating slower rate cuts going ahead, and maybe there are even chances of inflation rising. The bond yields have cooled off and slipped below the 4.335% mark. This should be bullish for emerging markets like India," he added.

I work four days a week, which just about covers all our expenses — <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/personal-finance/mortgages/how-are-mortgage-rates-determined">the mortgage</a>, bills, clothes, and food — but needless to say, money is tight, and parenting three energetic boys on your own is exhausting. At dinner time, they know when it's time to set the table. They'll each take one knife, fork, spoon, plate, and cup to set their own place.Most evenings, they help tidy up their toys. They help me feed our pet fish and help me pick up after our six dogs — I don't let them touch their droppings, but they like to point them out to me so I can clean them up. They also carry their own toys and juice up to bed every night. They are very competitive, so when one does something I want them to do, I praise them, and the other two quickly follow suit.I even <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/how-to-potty-train-kids">potty trained them</a>, and they picked it up so quickly. I made sure they were ready and understood what they needed to do. I had them drink lots of juice and asked them every 20 to 30 minutes if they needed to go. I gave them huge rewards when they did something in the potty — things they wouldn't normally be allowed, like chocolate or candy; plus, I used a sticker rewards chart and lots of books, songs, and videos all about potty training and being "big boys" now. They're very independent and actually don't need me constantly. They play well by themselves, especially character-led games they make up. Being one of the triplets is like having best friends to play with all the time, which makes me feel less bad about money being so tight and not being able to afford many luxuries. <h2 id="31ddf1ee-ee48-4e51-ae01-04ebadfec186">Having triplets is so expensive</h2>It might sound obvious, but when the cost of something like theme park entry or football lessons and the uniform is multiplied by three, <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/childcare-costs-without-grandparents-help-millennial-parents-boomers-2024-10">so many things are unachievable</a> on the budget we have.I worked out in their first year alone, and their expenses came to around $23,500 when you take into account three of everything — car seats, cribs, high chairs, a triplet stroller, clothes, diapers, and more. The formula cost nearly $1,570 alone. And that's not including the new house we needed to move to, as well. My mom and dad helped a lot, and my ex's mom and dad.I've been trying to decide whether it's getting better or worse because they eat more now than they did a year ago. They'll probably have two sandwiches each for lunch, for example, and that's times three. We go through two loaves of bread a week. Some weeks, I've had to borrow money from my mom for food. I try to keep the cost as low as possible, but we still spend around $105 a week on food, and that's me really scrimping on what we can get through the week with — no luxury items. It's pure survival.We scrape by. I buy most of their clothes secondhand online and sell anything they've outgrown. I hardly buy or do anything for myself, except on Friday night, when my mom takes care of the boys.Nothing can ever prepare you for having triplets or for being the sole parent of them. There isn't a lot of support. I've joined a Facebook group for triplet and quadruplet moms, and a lot of us have gotten chatting and even met up. It's been so helpful for swapping tips and tricks and for dealing with certain situations that only other triplet moms can relate to.
